- BACKGROUND -

Sere Arietta Nade was born in the capital of England, London, November 11th, 2011. She is the only child of the successful British-Korean businessman couple, Ashton and Hana Nade. Sere's mother gave birth to her when she was 40 years old, 10 years after their marriage. Sere's birth is considered as a beautiful melodic song. In her mother’s language, Sere means 'the novelty that everyone is talking about’.

The notion that Sere is a 'gift' makes her get ‘special treats’ from her parents. Since entering pre-school, she's been watched excessively. Sere is forbid to buy any snacks or street foods. Her parents always tell her not to get herself dirty or stand under the sunlight for any kind of sports. The worst thing is that she’s not allowed to play with children who are categorized as 'weird and dumb' by her parents : Never study, have no manners, and love to laugh out loud. The children that... know how to have fun.

Sere grows into a beautiful girl, just like her name. She is 150 cm tall and weigh about 72 lbs. She has long-to-back shiny dark brown hair and obsidian eyes similar to her father, fair skin and a gum smile that makes her look like her mother. Sere Nade is also known as the smartest student in her school. However, the competition is her only 'friend'. Sere is also considered as a strange-quiet-girl because of all the limitations that her parents have done.

Sere once was a very friendly pre-school kid, but growing up she was left by her friends and eventually feeling lonely, a feeling that she doesn’t like at all.

On her ninth birthday, she determined herself to be someone who looks independent and does all the work -perfectly- by herself. She acted to not be afraid of anything, and also never tell her parents about the problem she had if she’s not in a critical situation.

Since then, it is rare for Sere to show her gummy smile. No one will match ‘Sere Nade’ and ‘friendly’ in a sentence. Sere still doesn't have friends, so she bought herself a diary as a medium for expressing herself.

In a moment during one of her last year-end solo math competition, Sere was too focused on the questions when she broke the tip of her pencil. At that time she only had one pencil and no sharpener. Sere felt panicked, she was sweating. For the first time of her life, the fear of losing grew bigger inside her. Her right hand which was still holding the pencil trembled so hard. She almost cried out of fear.

Sere was very surprised when slowly the broken tip of the pencil came back together. The fear turned to confusion. Sere stared blankly at the sharp pencil until she realized that she had only ten minutes left. She ended up the last year competition badly, but never tell anyone about what happened.

Sere's secret was only last for about seven month. A professor came to her house and inform about wizard school called Hogwarts. Sere told her parents about that 'pencil' incident. At first, her parents were -of course- not letting her went to the Hogwarts, even after all the explanation from the professor. But Sere felt something strange inside her, a spark of excitement she never felt since having no friends. Sere ensure her parents that she would take care of herself while still being the best in academic, that 'the new school' would make her exploring a new world safely.

Ashton and Hana felt the strong will from Sere's eyes. Eventually, for the first time in forever, Sere's parents loosen themselves and give their daughter permission to take a risk, knowing more about the new world. Sere is still have the pencil, keeping it herself until now, and write her diary about her journey to the new world with it.
