Good Practice, Rather than Best Practice
Date : February 2nd, 2024 Color code : Written|Thought|Said The sunset is covered by the clouds, producing orange-juice color in the spring late-afternoon sky. Sere left her last class and immediately moved towards the fourth floor of Hogwarts Castle. She seemed to walk faster, the entire body showed a sense of enthusiasm that her face hadn't expressed at all.
It's clear that she's heading to the Duelling Club. Ballroom and Rehearsal Room are out of the options for a girl who has zero talent in art. Sere had sent the follow up owl of the practice invitation she requested to Raizel last week, when they interacted at Hospital Wings. She agreed about this schedule in no time. Moreover, the second-year girl also said that the duel moderator would be on her business. Look at how reliable Raizel Voltrouz is!
Sere entered the Duelling Club, her steps went straight to the left side of the entrance because she saw an empty piste there. The British-Korean girl immediately climbed up and put her satchel at the corner of the piste. She arrived a little bit earlier then. Raizel and the moderator should be here in around fifteen minutes.
Sere tied her hair and took out her wand. I don't think that I would be a challenging opponent for Raizel, but that will be fine! I hope this is gonna be a good practice, rather than a best practice.

❂《 ⌜ February 2, 2024 ▎ --:-- ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔This place used to give her comfort yet all she can feel whenever she’s here is… frustration, continuously being reminded of her failures. How it made her realize that she wasn’t ready for duelling. Her skills were lacking, she couldn’t keep up much like what her grandmother told her.
Pathetic, it’s what she always told herself. With a losing streak under her belt and her recent lost not far behind, it would be natural for her to stay away from here yet here she is, back in the very same place that’s giving her a tremendous amount of depression. Why? Well, for her very last duel of course, last duel as part of the Gryffindor team that is. After this, she had decided it’d be best for her to leave as she sees herself as nothing but a burden at this point. Working hard on getting better at duels and spellcasting didn’t felt rewarding. It was time to find other ways and until she feels like she could keep up once more, she won’t be returning anytime soon. Better ways to get stronger is what she seeks now.
Sere Nade, a fellow duellist, asked for this duel and of course she agreed and even went on her way to find them a moderator. Lea Hirsch is the first one to come into her mind, her go-to for unofficial duels like this and perhaps one of the people that she sees as a duelling mentor. She was thankful when she agreed to this duel really as she doesn’t know who else to ask as most of the ones she knows are kind of busy.
The moment she arrived, Sere was already there. Talk about being enthusiastic for a duel, something that Raizel could relate to as she too felt that way before, a part of her that she can’t find nowadays. “Looks like you’re ready for this.” the older Gryffindor managed to show her smile. She took her position on the piste, ready to get things started once her opponent and their mod were ready.

Lea was always rather honored when someone asked her to help mod a practice match. She still felt like a new moderator, having really only participated in one stage thus far, but any request would be greeted with a 'yes' and a question on what time was available for them. The duelling piste was becoming her new haunt outside of the library or common room, a place that held many failures but also memorable successes. Quickly finishing up some homework, the Hufflepuff would pack up her supplies before making the trek to the duelling room.
She would enter to find the two Gryffindors already there, a small nod of approval as she moved towards them. It was nice when people were punctual, everything a little easier for Lea as she set her bag off to one side of the room then also made her way up to the piste. She would look to both of the duellists in turn, offering a small bow of acknowledgement as she greeted them both. "It's nice to meet you, Sere. And good to see you too, Raizel." A final slight glance towards the two, then she called out. "Alright, I hope you both know the rules. Ready? And begin!"
And begin they would, both seeming to have had a plan in mind that they quickly enacted as her final word echoed slightly in the room. Raizel opted for straight damage, flinging a Flipendo in the younger Gryffindor's direction as she continued her own casting of Steleus. Focusing between two tasks was challenging though, so it seemed as though Sere sacrificed a bit of the dodge in order to get her own spell shooting through the air, the first year feeling a blunt hit against her shoulder. It almost seemed as though that hit would be enough to knock the spell off target, yet it arced back towards Raizel, cleanly hitting her as Rai would feel a tickling sensation in her nose that only grew in intensity. Focusing would be a challenge, a small sympathetic wince from Lea to both before the duel continued on.

Good Practice, Rather than Best Practice
Date : February 2nd, 2024 Color code : Written|Thought|Said Sere gave a friendly nod to a girl other than Raizel who came and climbed onto the piste. Sere never knew this girl personally, but she knew that this girl is one of her senior in duelling. Raizel really has a lot of acquaintances. How popular is she actually? Sere said to herself while raising her wand as the practice match began.
"Steleus!"
What is the intention of her throwing the Sneezing Hex at Raizel? Umm... Nothing, really. Sere just wanted to practice some new spells that she rarely casted in the Winter Games, and this spell is one of them. Sere nodded in satisfaction when the spell managed to hit Raizel, but she immediately frowned when a Flipendo shot succeeded to appear from the tip of Raizel's wand as the girl shout the incantation. She tried to avoid it but unfortunately her effort was unsuccessful. This girl is forced to take several steps back, holding her right shoulder where the Flipendo hit her.
She is really serious about this practice. Sere smiled crookedly. As I expected... Her skill is not bad at all. The girl looked at Raizel who seemed to be starting to feel a tickling sensation on her nose. The effects of Steleus have started. What spell should I cast next?
Sere raised her wand, showing that she's ready for the second round.

❂《 ⌜ February 2, 2024 ▎ --:-- ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔Skills, luck, those play a major part in any sports and she possesses neither of those as far as she knows. She had nothing but bad luck recently and her skills… let’s just say they aren’t that amazing to begin with.
Enough about that as she needs to focus. She’s in a duel against her junior. Not like there is a huge gap between them. Sere is a first year and Raizel is just a second year. She wouldn’t even doubt it if Sere even manages to beat her in this duel. The first year has potential, she might be able to reach greatness compared to her. If she wants to contribute to her growth, it’s only natural for her to give it her all in this duel, although against someone like Raizel? She’s not that sure if she’ll get anything from her, experience wise. Sere would’ve been better off asking someone else for a duel.
No matter, she’ll do what she can in this duel, starting off with a Flipendo. It’s a basic duelling spell from what she knows. Strong enough to dish out huge damage if you managed to pull it off. Luckily for her, it hit. Unluckily for her, Sere’s spell also hit. Sneezing hex… she’s not gonna have a good time with that tickling sensation on her nose and soon enough, sneeze followed.

Both were going for new spells, seeming to test out the variety before them- they had both also decided to go for incapacitation over damage. A useful strategy, one that would surely help out in the later rounds as they continued to exchange blows. Brown eyes glanced between the two, making mental notes as she observed their form.
Sere and Raizel had a similar issue- both of them could aim, but dodging proved to be a bit more challenging. The older gryffindor's sneezing would be enough time for Sere to act first, enough time to shoot a spell towards Raizel that she would see but not have enough time to flee as the spell flew remarkably quickly across the piste before expanding to bubble up and block part of Raizel's way as it remained solid and in place, strange for a bubble.
Despite the sneezing, Raizel would hold it back long enough to cast a spell of her own, firing it off unexpectedly as another fit washed over her. The suddenness appeared to be a surprise to Sere as well, who seemed to stumble instead of properly dodging, seeing the light hit before she would feel her tongue twisting uncomfortably in her mouth. Saying anything now would be a challenge, effectively locking her from any spellcasting for a little bit. An eyebrow raised slightly as Lea anticipated how the two would proceed.

Good Practice, Rather than Best Practice
Date : February 2nd, 2024 Color code : Written|Thought|Said Sere once again tried a spell that she had never casted before, "Bullarum Immortalem!" She threw the Bubble-Producing Spell perfectly, aiming right on her initial target : Raizel's red nose. She won't realize that I am targeting her nose, will she? I can't help but it looked so much like a target board in archery! Anyway, this new spell is also working well, apparently. Sere looked down at her magic wand and nodded in satisfaction.
Too quickly satisfied because a spell she had never heard before came straight on her, "Wh---" Sere frowned in confusion when she couldn't even pronounce something properly. Her tongue felt like twisted. What kind of spell is this? I have obviously never learned it. What was the incantation? Mimblewimble? Sounds so strange! Sere could only speak in her own mind because she failed to dodge the Tongue-Twisted Spell from her opponent who's now seemed to be inside the solid bubble.
Geez! What's the point of my previous succeeded Sneezing Hex actually? And... What should I do now? Sere continued to move her tongue, trying to bring back its normal function, while thinking hard about what to do to be a comparable match for Raizel in the next round.WC : 202/200

❂《 ⌜ February 2, 2024 ▎ --:-- ⌟▛▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔You know, she really needs to work on her dodging. She can’t have herself getting hit by every spell her opponent throws at her after all. It was starting to get frustrating. How incompetent could she get? At least her spell worked and even hit. Another miracle if you asked her cause usually, her spells would either stray away from its original path or wouldn’t even fire at all. With her sneezing so uncontrollably too, she thought there would be nothing but a sputtering light from her wand.
Mimblewimble wasn’t a spell that she usually uses. The other time that she did was during her practice with Zach. There was hardly a time that she needed that spell, even during her official duels as she preferred to use others that are more useful. This time though… it seems like she made the right choice as it gave her some breathing room with Sere being unable to cast any spells thanks to it. “Glad that worked.” she uttered as she looked at the bubbles around her, blocking her even. “Oh great.”
There’s the sneezing, and now the bubbles. Does she even have anything against these? She knows she needs to do something but the creeping itchiness on her nose was preventing her from making quick decisions at the moment, messing up her focus and she can’t have that while in a duel.

It was a bit of a slower next round, but that was expected considering the circumstances. She'd let out a small sigh, before offering a slight smile to both.
Sere, mouth currently refusing to operate properly and form any words that might be able to take advantage of Raizel's distraction, would have little choice between dodging or just standing there. Thankfully she would make the smarter choice, a little lighter on her feet, a little more aware of her surroundings. It wouldn't be necessary, but between something and nothing- something was the better option. Plus it made good practice.
Raizel had a larger selection of spells and ideas at her disposal, even with poorly timed sneezes and a bubble that floated firmly in place. Perhaps Lea would have taken the more aggressive approach, targeting Sere despite their heightened senses and hoping for the best. But Raizel probably also knew that she could get that chance later and for now return to zero. Casting at the bubble instead of the other Gryffindor, a sharp pop echoed through the room as the bubble vanished, leaving only a reverberation and final whisper of the Flipendo that had shattered it. Both had done well, the smile a faint sign of approval and an invitation to continue.
Ooc: sorry, I totally thought I had replied to this!!

Good Practice, Rather than Best Practice
Date : February 2nd, 2024 Color code : Written|Thought|Said Oh my gosh! How long it would affected me?! I know that I often talk to myself, but this is definitely not the right time. Sere's mouth was still tightly closed. She's clenched her teeth. She had tried to speak earlier, but what came out was just... Ah, don't make her remember about it. She doesn't even dare to speak. She's afraid that she's gonna do that again: spitting out all the strange and useless mumbles, while trying to speak.
Yeah, this is the only action Sere could do, even though the Gryffindor girl was ninety-nine percent sure that it would be pointless. She dodged, moving here and there while focusing her eyes on Raizel who's still trapped inside the bubble, anticipating if there are another she-has-never-heard-before spells, that could attack her without needing to popped out from the bubble.
Seeing Raizel cast the Knockback Jinx and popped out from the bubble made Sere let out a rough breath. Now her opponent's nose is looked better, likely normal. Maybe the effect is already gone and it means that she has to restart everything, from the beginning. "What a hassle--- Oh!" Sere's muttering resulted in words that she could understand clearly. It seemed like the effect of the Tongue-Twisted Spell has also already gone. The Gryffindor girl raised her wand, cleared her throat, preparing herself to cast another spell. Hopefully this one works out well.
