As a worker in the Ministry of Magic and an alchemist, the work of Ebony's parents were no little feat. They were drowned in task after task — it was busy day after busy day and little time was left for their singular daughter. Day and night they worked, leaving Ebony alone at home perpetually. The girl understood the nature and importance of her parents' work; she understood that her mother and father worked hard so that their family could get by. So, Ebony was somewhat isolated for most of her early childhood -- it didn't help that she was a little strange somehow. 		CVCV

She was that little weirdling in her small, isolated Scottish village, and naturally she didn't come across many individuals of her age who were willing to befriend her. Such phenomena were of course magnets to bullies, and Ebony encountered no small amount of bullies as a young child, in which 2 of them were her neighbours. It was a neighbourhood that largely held wizarding folks; all the other wizarding children have had their instances of magic already, including her neighbours -- all of them, except her. It was no case of neglect, of course. Ebony did have someone accompanying her. Her cousin who lived nearby was with her all the time. Her cousin however was no experienced baby-sitter; she was in fact not very great at the job. She often paid little attention to her younger cousin, occupying herself with make-up or with contacting her friends. This all held true until her first instance of magic. It put a stop to it all. Her parents came to a realisation of what was happening back at home. Soon after, the girl's mother quit her job and stayed at home to entertain her interests in herbology instead as to keep an eye on her daughter.

This sudden change provided Ebony with a chance to realise what she had missed out on (some sweet mother-daughter bonding). Upon Ebony turning 9 — after the girl’s first instance of magic and her mother’s subsequent departure from her job in the Ministry — her mother soon became engrossed in Herbology. She embarked on a journey to São Paulo, Brazil as to study the magical flora and fauna within the region given their focus on herbology and took Ebony with her. The girl's father remained in Edinburgh during that time. The two of them spent around a year in Brazil before returning to Scotland. Brazil remains a land of exoticism, wonder and paradise to the brunette, as she was entertained with nothing but blissful memories during that time.

FIRST INSTANCE OF MAGIC

It was them again. The neighbours. They were always here, and you couldn't miss them; the noise emanating from their direction was too noticeable. They weren't Muggles, but they were incredibly mean about such ridiculous notions that one would think they had no knowledge of the wizarding world. But they had already had their first instances of magic -- and Ebony hadn't yet. It was a guaranteed cause for some (not very light-hearted) teasing.

"Hey! Where's your mom and dad, huh? Off to getting you Squib identification?" Ebony scowled at the comment, staying silent in an attempt to ignore. That was always her strategy. To ignore. But of course, they wouldn't let it off. They never do. "If you're not going to admit you're a Squib, then show us a spell!" one of the neighbours jibed. She couldn't even bother learning their names.

"I'm not allowed to, you both know that as well as me." she replied, picking at a grass stalk beside her feet, still refusing to look up at them. Permission wasn't the problem, however. It was ability. "I can't,' she added quietly.

The neighbours laughed. "Ha! You see, even the Squib admits she can't do any magic!" the other neighbour laughed. The girl could feek colour rising up to her cheeks, but she was determined to play it cool; she can't let them get to her. "Look," she said impatiently, my voice level rising, "just leave me alone. Why do you keep on picking on me? Your first instance of magic happened not long ago, and mine may happen soon. Just... stop!"

The neighbours simply stood there and laughed. Her breathing became heavier and heavier. It was like this every time. She didn't want a fight with them... it was two against one. It was then that suddenly, something miraculous occurred. One of the neighbours screamed and pointed behind the brunette. "Soil! Look at the soil!" he screamed. Ebony looked behind in astonishment. A load of mud had risen up into the air, and was now zooming towards the boys. The girl laughed, almost hysterically, as the mud spattered upon them.

Ebony may show a cold exterior; however, upon unlocking her interior, one would find that she is in fact a kind individual at heart. She finds that she may sometimes be cunning in particular circumstances. Ebony is not an exceptionally studious individual, but she still strives to pay attention although she normally does well in school when she isn't affected by relationships or stress. Ebony also loves the arts. She likes being alone most of the time, but she still has some good friends who are always there for her. Many people see her as an oddball who doesn't interact with anyone and has too much of a stormy personality which causes fluctuations and mood swings, which affects her self-esteem.

Ebony has dark, near brunette hair and dark eyes with flecks of amber within. Her hair is long and up to her waist, and her eyes are quite large. Her eyebrows are arched, and her nose height and width is normal. The natural colour of her lips is a dark brownish pink, and her skin is pale.
