It was a very usual day for Karrie. She wasn't interested in anything especially today. Her friends however had many plans. Though they invited her over, she thought better of it.
She went to her dorm and was absent-mindedly thinking about the mouth watering food, favourite lessons, good friends, playing violin...
Aha! Why didn't it come to her mind earlier? After all, she likes playing violin very much. She didn't give a thought to it while doing piles of stressful homeworks. Her violin playing is the only thing which keeps her in a pleasant mood during hard and boring days. Many students were present in the dorm, maximum of them were sleeping as it was a holiday. It won't be quite appropriate to disturb them by playing the violin. She quickly picked up her violin and bow and as silently as possible made her way towards the Rehearsal Room.

It was one of the exciting days now. She took a seat in the Rehearsal Room and hesitated. She hasn't played the violin for almost a year and she doesn't know if the melody and rhythm will be good enough. She however jerked those thoughts out, while gathering up the courage, she looked around, no one was there.
She was relieved, even if she played bad no one was there to notice it and make fun of her.
She thought of playing the Crystallize song. It was one of her favourite song as a beginner. She rose her violin in a way that it rested on her shoulder and raised the bow. She was focused and slowly started playing, the melody was going quite right and her rhythm was gradually getting good. She smiled, so she didn't forget it after all.

Ebony had many hangout places. Guess what they were? Yup, the Great Lake, the Library, the Courtyard, and the Grounds. But the Rehearsal Room wasn't one of them.
Yes, it was quiet, plenty of quiet all the time, but it was just too empty. Besides, it wasn't exactly the ideal place to work on her art or to admire nature. There wasn't much nature down there. So, she usually didn't come to the Rehearsal Room.
She didn't avoid it, exactly, but it wasn't a place to go. She would prefer going to the Great Lake, or even staying in her dorm or the Common Room. The Rehearsal Room was just... too empty, if one could describe it as so.
Yes, the Library was quiet as well, but not quite this quiet. Besides, the library smelled like books, old papyrus, and wood; Ebony's favourite smells, if you didn't count nature and the rain. It also had a feeling of fresh air to it. The Rehearsal Room, however... smelled like the Rehearsal Room. It looked rather bland in Ebony's view. Why go there when she could enjoy the outdoors?
She only went inside the room because of somebody's violin.
She was just walking by the room after using the lavatory, just about to get back to the Common Room or her dorm and enjoy some alone time, when she heard a beautiful tune playing from inside the room.
Ebony was drawn to things like art and music. Even though theatre wasn't her forte, she enjoyed it as well. It was fun, no matter how good she was at it.
So, curious and attached to the music, she went inside the room, careful to twist the doorknob very very carefully and not make a sound.
Inside, she saw a girl, who she had seen around the school this year but couldn't put a name to. The music was beautiful. The girl was playing a violin, seeming to enjoy herself. Ebony stood there, letting the tune flow through her and careful not to make a sound.
She walked closer, wanting to hear more, but careful to keep a distance. Suddenly, she tripped over something - and fell onto the floor. It was the leg of an instrument stand left lying astray.
Embarrassed, Ebony stood up and dusted herself off.
