Typical Day At The Lake
It was a beautiful and hot summer day. The birds were chirping and I could feel the hot sun beating down on me. "Boy, it sure is hot today. This isn't even the worst of it. I heard this is supposed to be the hottest summer this year" I said to myself. While waiting for my friend, I decided to get up and move to a tall tree in the shade. It was still hot but at least it was cooler under the tree. I began to pull out some candy out of my bag. While on my way to Hogwarts, I had gotten some candy on the Hogwarts Express. I forgot that I had some leftover on my way here. As soon as I finished pulling out the candy from my bag, I saw my friend walking up to me. I excitedly got up and embraced her in a hug.
"Hi Ebony! It's so great to see you. How've you been? I asked. "Man, these homework assignments are killing me. I cannot believe it is almost the end of the term. I've got a lot of work to catch up on. Hopefully I can get it all done before the term ends!" I said. "As promised, I brought some candy. You may take whatever kind you want. I have Bertie Bott's jellybeans, Drooble's Gum, Pumpkin Pasties, etc." I said.
"So, how are your classes going? Are you enjoying them? I pretty much finished all of my Charms assignments and I have one more Potions assignment to turn in and a couple more assignments for Astronomy, History of Magic, and Transfiguration. I believe I need to turn in one more for Herbology as well" I said. "If you ever want to study in the library and tutor each other in classes, let me know. I am always looking for a study partner." I said.

allison - #9e6b6bAs I walked towards the Great Lake, I saw a tiny figure of Allison standing under a tree. I smiled and started towards her. I was quite familiar with the area since this was a regular go-to place of mine, when I felt like I needed a break. But this time, it wasn't a break, it was just chatting with my best friend.
Allison hugged me tightly, so I wrapped my hands around her waist as well. I laughed and tumbled onto the grassy floor, motioning to Allison to join me.
"Hey Allison! I've been good. Great, actually. I can't believe it's the end of term either! It seems like this year passed by so fast... I really hate catching up on homework. I'm really really behind... I just hope this doesn't affect my second year. There are some classes I haven't even started on!" I exclaimed, shaking my head and sighing. Allison said she had a lot of homework to catch up on too and I nodded sympathetically. I get it, because I was going through the same thing. End of term really is tough.
Allison showed me the various sweets she had brought with her. "Drooble's Best Blowing Gum!!" I exclaimed excitedly, "I brought some with me too."
"Which one is your favourite?" I asked as we munched on the sweets.
Allison asked me how my classes were going, and I replied. "I mean... I could never really enjoy class, I suppose, and I'm really glad that the school year is over. I just need to catch up, as I said."
I blew a large pink bubble and it popped onto my nose.word count: 275

"Hey Allison! I've been good. Great, actually. I can't believe it's the end of term either! It seems like this year passed by so fast... I really hate catching up on homework. I'm really really behind... I just hope this doesn't affect my second year. There are some classes I haven't even started on!" Ebony said.
"Same here girl. I still have yet to do any homework for flying. I'm behind on some stuff as well. I don't like playing catch up on my homework either. I know this is odd for me to say this but I love school and I love learning but I don't like doing homework like most students would say haha. My favorite class that I have taken this term was Charms. I really liked the material I learned. As for least favorite classes, I am not a huge fan of History of Magic or Astronomy but I seem to be doing well in those classes even though they're not my favorite." I replied.
We sat together underneath a big tree in the shade and chewed on some of Drooble's bubble-gum. When the gum hit my tongue, I savored the sweetness. "I am a major sweet-tooth. I love candy but I try not to eat too much because I don't want to mess up my teeth. I have gotten cavities before and they are not fun." I said. I watched as Ebony blew her bubble gum and it popped on her nose and I couldn't help but slightly giggle at it. She also asked me what my favorite wizarding world candy was.. allison - #9e6b6bI listened as Allison talked about her favourite classes and her least favourite classes. She said that she still had tons of homework for Flying.
She also said that she liked learning but not homework.
"You like learning? That's good for you. I really don't... I mean, it's so confined and there are so many rules. I don't like rules," I laughed.
"Really? Me too... I haven't started on Flying either. I love Charms as well, I'm almost complete with the homework of this term. I also like Defence Against the Dark Arts. I haven't started on either History of Magic or Astronomy... as I said, I'm quite behind. I'm doing the best in Charms, of course," I said, replying to Allison.
Allison said that she had gotten cavities before. "I'm sure there's a spell or something to get rid of them the non-painful way," I said hopefully, "and don't Muggles have those teeth doctors? Denters or something?"
I watched as Allison popped a piece of Drooble's Best Blowing Gum into her mouth as well. She said that her favourite candies were the beans and Drooble's gum. "Good taste!" I commented as I blew another bubble of my own, "I love Drooble's and Bertie's. They are the best. There are some horrific flavours in the beans though." I took out a box of them and popped a yellow one in my mouth and braced myself.
"Corn! I'm lucky. Have you ever gotten the boogers flavour before?" I asked Allison.word count: 274

When it comes to learning, I like to learn things by being shown how to do them or in some way make the lesson interactive and hands on. I don't learn well with lectures." I replied to her.

I also really like that class. I am also behind in History of Magic as well. History is something I'm not the best at and I'm not a huge fan of it but if it helps me graduate Hogwarts, I'm ok with it" I said.

In the Muggle world, we have what are called dentists. They are trained professionals who are trained to fix teeth and clean them. The process for fixing cavities is a bit complicated but in a basic sense, they apply numbing gel to the teeth that have the cavities and they inject an anesthetic into the gum line. They then use a drill or another special tool to removed the decayed area of the tooth. They then fill the hole that's in the tooth. Since the part of the mouth that has the cavity is numb, you won't be able to feel anything while they remove it which is nice because I don't tolerate pain well. After the procedure is done, your mouth is numb until the anesthesia wears off." I said.
I watched as Ebony blew another bubble of her Drooble's. Good taste!" I commented as I blew another bubble of my own, "I love Drooble's and Bertie's. They are the best. There are some horrific flavours in the beans though" she said. I do have to agree. There are some flavors in there that I hate the taste of like the vomit and boogers flavor for example. I have been unfortunate to taste both and they are nasty. The soap flavored one is also disgusting. I said in disgust.

Allison then replied to my question about the denters. She said something about feeling numb and pulling teeth out or something. Anyhow, it sounded way too complicated that I didn't even know what she was talking about. "That's too hard. Being a denter- sorry, dentist must be really hard, musn't it, to do that every day?"
I wondered how it was like to do a Muggle job like that, pulling out people's cavities and and numbing their gums all day. "Is that the only thing dentists do?" I asked.
I sneaked a look at my list of homework to do and realised I still had so much. "Some time when you're free, would you like to study together? I still have so much more to do," I commented, "well, after this, of course."
I pulled out a cut-out slice of treacle tart. "Allison, do you like treacle tart? I think it's slightly too sweet for me," I said, changing the topic and taking a bite of the tart. This wasn't studying time, it was snack time! I shouldn't bring up homework on a fun day as such.

"They're so boring, if you know what I mean. But, yeah, I'm willing to attend if that means I'll get to graduate from Hogwarts with good grades. I do care about them, no matter how much I don't like learning." She said. "Agreed. They are very boring. Sometimes, I wish the lessons for some classes were a bit more interactive like where we can use magic or do some kind of hands-on activities to make it more interesting." I said in heartfelt agreement.
"That's too hard. Being a denter- sorry, dentist must be really hard, musn't it, to do that every day?" Ebony asked. "Even I think it's a complicated process and that's coming from someone who grew up in a Muggle community." I said while eating more beans.
