It was a funny thing, really. A few days ago, she was just feeling like breaking a couple rules, when she overheard a Hufflepuff first year saying she wanted to go to Hogsmeade. Of course, going to Hogsmeade as a first year was against the rules. After overhearing that, Ebony spoke to the girl, who had introduced herself as Minnie, and they arranged to meet here, at the lake to discuss their troublemaking plans. Sure, she wasn't breaking rules herself, but helping someone break them was exciting enough.

So here she was, at the lake, scanning for Minnie. She found her sitting near the lake; really close to the lake. She couldn't help but wonder if the girl knew how to swim. If they fell in, Ebony probably wouldn't be able to save her, as she would be busy trying to save herself. She had taught herself to swim in her endless days of free time when she was younger, dragging her cousin to look after her. Sure, she could keep herself afloat, but she was far from excellent.

Dragging herself out of her lengthy flashbacks, Ebony headed over to where Minnie was sitting and waved to the first year.

Ebony was an idea kind of person -- but in this instance, she couldn't really think of anything. When Minnie asked her for a plan, she was about to shrug, before remembering that she was a third year and the first year may look up to her. Being clueless probably wasn't the best trait to display.

Minnie said that she had an idea -- she said that there was a passage through Honeydukes. Ebony had heard of it, but she had never been through it herself. It would be too risky taking someone who knew not much about Hogsmeade when she knew nothing of the passage, so instead, she racked her brain and rambled, "maybe... you could just sneak in as a third year? I'm sure if we head in together, it won't look too suspicious." She noticed Minnie going a little pink. Was my idea really that bad? she asked herself, shaking her head slightly in disappointment, surprised that her brain had decided not to cooperate today.

She looked at Minnie, seeing if she had any better ideas. She sat down, silent, trying to fish in the back of her brain for a better solution -- one that was less risky. More fool-proof. Ebony was far from a master troublemaker. Not that she was a good kid; she preferred to stay in the middle, where she usually didn't get noticed. Nothing too special, nothing too strange. Perhaps she was always too scared to do anything out of the ordinary. She had decided to take the step to help someone break the rules instead of breaking them herself; it seemed a little less scary, a little less foreign.

She nodded agreement at Minnie's response to her idea. "Exactly -- getting past might be a bit of a problem, but once we're done, we'll have no other problems," she added afterward. She agreed, smiling, as Minnie pointed out that they could have fun together afterwards. She couldn't wait to get to show somebody around, take them to the diverse assortment of shops, strolling across the lively village together. Hogsmeade was an appealing haven of fun, laughter, and mischief. It had been a while since Ebony had experienced those truly; it seemed to her that the recent few months had been consumed by stress, worries, and the overwhelming depths of feelings that threatened to drag her under. She longed for those magical emotions to course through her; Hogsmeade was the perfect place to go for some light-hearted activities, especially with somebody who had never been there before.

It was just the fun and the excitement fuelling her; Ebony didn't have a transparent reason to help the younger girl, and she could see from her expressions and the sigh that was slightly held back that Minnie was very obviously processing this, as well as the fact that Ebony could turn her in anytime. "Don't worry, my lips are sealed shut about this, I want to have fun with you there," she exclaimed, assuring her partner in crime.

Ebony nodded, agreeing to the plan -- it was nowhere close to the best, most thought out plan ever, but she had faith that it would work and it would enable them to have fun inside Hogsmeade. She needed the fun. As somebody who liked to wipe her exterior of emotions, it was time to rid herself of her stony, normally expressionless face, even if it was only for a day. "Yup, we've got a plan! No worries about not having one, coming up with it is part of the fun!" Ebony exclaimed, giving the Hufflepuff first year a precious grin of hers.

Just then, Minnie turned around and looked slightly startled. Ebony peered past the girl to see
a staff member. Just as she was about to suggest that they disperse and get out of the lake, Minnie took the words out of her mouth and said it first. She nodded her head once again, agreeing, "indeed, we have a decent plan. I'll see you there!"

Ebony waved cheerily and turned around, heading back into the school with a slight skip in her step as if she was a first year again. She had successfully planned something to be excited for! Ebony was not easily excited -- not many things interested her, and there weren't many things she enjoyed doing. But Hogsmeade was among the things or places she enjoyed -- who doesn't like Hogsmeade?
