There was no real reason for Lucas to be have been in a poor mood, but ever since he'd crawled out of bed in the morning he'd been in a foul mood. Maybe he was just missing home, or hadn't quite gotten used to having a school routine yet. After all, everything had been catered to his schedule back at home, so suddenly having a schedule to follow had been quite the shock to his system.
Nether the less, he'd left the common room early, intending to try and find his bearings and learn his way around the school. Unfortunately, his parents had not been lying when they told him of how confusing the stairways and corridors were. "Stop moving.." He muttered more to himself than anyone else as a staircase that he thought would lead him back to the common rooms instead turned and lead him even lower down onto the second floor.
He began to aimlessly wander through the corridors of the second floor, his mood having only worsened since earlier, when suddenly he bumped into someone. Despite him being the one to walk into them, he whirled around with a scowl. "Watch out." He snapped at her.

Cynthia was just, she was just feeling bad. After Oliver had walked in on her crying. Well, now she needed to go to bed. Her dorm mate, Pandora, must be waiting for her. And plus, it was almost curfew. Cynthia tucked her notebook under her arm and hurried along.
Suddenly a boy bumped into her. She swung around and got hold of his tie, Gryffindor. Cynthia let her notebook slip out from under her arm. ‘You Gryffindor! I thought you had some honour! Now look at what you’re doing, bumping into girls like me?’ Cynthia grabbed his tie harder. ‘I’ve never met a Gryffindor so low! Isn’t it manners to help a young lady pick up the book she just dropped?’ Technically, she didn’t really drop it, she just let it slip out of her hand, landing on the ground with a thump.
She was just feeling so… off… today. And now this boy was being annoying. Cynthia released her grip and scowled right back. ‘Wait, let me get this right, you’re telling me to watch out when you have bumped into me. Wow, you’re such a genius, wonder why you’re not in my house.’ Cynthia raised an eyebrow. ‘What are you waiting for? You’d better pick them up.’

While Lucas may normally have just moved on, maybe even help her out, her, admittedly valid, accusations against him only worsened his mood. As she grabbed his tie, and dropped her own note book, he couldn't help but grin. It wasn't a friendly grin by any means, more condescending and mocking of her. "You Gryffindor? You're breaking my heart.." He began sarcastically. "The great house of Ravenclaw, and the best you can think up is calling me by my house? I'm sure you're the pride of Ravenclaw with your quick wit." He continued, no resistance as she tightened her grip on his tie. "And your quick wit continues.. You dropped your own book, idiot." He basically spat out the last word, his sarcastic tone disappearing, that one word holding a genuine tone of hostility.
It was admittedly probably a bad look for both him, and the House by extension but he was too far gone to really back down now, and admit he held some fault in this situation."I'm not waiting for anything, you dropped it yourself so pick it up. You should apologies while you're at it, all those insults were so.." He paused, trying to think of something witty, but to little avail. "Insulting.."

‘Look,’ Cynthia scanned his clothes for a nametag, which all first years should carry. ‘Mr. Chapman, Cynthia found that saying someone’s name when you’re not supposed to know made her feel good. ‘The great house of Ravenclaw? Just let me be modest here. Great? We literally didn’t do anything after the Great War. Weren't your house the one who supplied heroes? That Potter person? And look at what’s happening in my house. Only a girl that Potter dumped.’ She said. She had, thankfully, learnt some more history.
Cynthia gave a sly smile. She raised a brow as if thinking. ‘Alright then. What if I dropped my book but I want you to pick it up since, let me be technical here, you were the one who bumped into me and not the other way around.
Cynthia didn’t mind her notebook. It didn’t have anything of importance anyways. Just some stuff from the lessons. ‘And then what did you say? The insults were so insulting? You need a thesaurus, my friend. You can say offensive, outrageous, affronting, outraging, abusive, contumelious, invective, opprobrious, truculent, vitriolic, vituperative, crude, dirty, vulgar, foul, coarse. What else? That’s all I can think of, at least better than you.’

"That's my name." He nodded as she read out his surname, before cracking a grin at her failing to understand his tone. "My dad told me Ravencalws tended to be a lot smarter.." He began, the mocking tone once again sneaking into his voice. "You really couldn't understand what I was actually saying could you? Once again really proving to me that you and your great intelligence.. The Pride of Ravenclaw." He scanned her own clothing quickly in return for the name tag.
He simply shook his head as she continued to speak, letting out an exaggerated sigh. "Miss Beaufort.. You really are stupid, aren't you? Maybe you knocked your head when you walked into me.." He said, before faking a very exaggerated frown. "And not only that.. But you attacked me!" He grabbed his own tie, lifting it up to make sure she could very clearly see it. "And in your the midst of your childish tantrum, you dropped your own notebook like an idiot!"
He slid his own foot across the floor, simply going to gently kick the notebook closer to her as she attempted to lecture him about his choice of words. "Very nice.." He said dismissively after she finished. "You'd think someone from the great house of Ravenclaw would be able to think up a better argument than just listing a few words.. Are you sure you're in the right house? You aren't really.. Fitting the image, I don't think."

‘Why shan’t I have a childish tantrum? I am still a child, after all. Us smart babies know that you should always savour your time when you are young. Why all the hurry to grow up?’ Cynthia smiled, unfazed by Lucas Chapman. ‘And then that notebook business. I just want you to shut up. So yes, I dropped it. But I am asking you to pick it up. Can’t you do a favour for a young lady like me?’Side note: OOC I am impressed by your arguements Lucas! Also I’ll ask Ebony to come. Can you refrain from posting before she posts. If you have any questions just owl me.
Cynthia batted her eyelashes. ‘And all that talk about houses! You the sorting hat? Its always right, you know. But at least a few words is better than your ‘insults are insulting’. I’m pretty sure you didn’t know half of the words back there. And fitting the image. Are you saying I don’t fit Ravenclaw? Perhaps that has truth to it. But, let’s talk about you. Do you think you fit any house? Do you even deserve a house? You know Gryffindor is supposed to be, oh, for the best, and all that. You the best? I don’t think so.’
Cynthia sucked in a breath. She wasn’t quite sure whether to ask Chapman to pick up the notebook again or do it herself dramatically. She chose the latter. With a flick of her wand, she said, ‘Wingardium Leviosa!’ She took the notebook from the air and said, ‘I do not forget, and I certainly do not forgive.

Ebony was just strolling around the corridors, thinking about perhaps going for a walk around the Lake, or going back to the Common Room or the Library to finish off some of her drawings before they all had to go to sleep.
She was somehow in a particularly good mood today, and that was no little feat. Ebony usually felt very grumpy and angry, and she didn't want anyone to ruin her perfect mood today. She straightened her socks and ran a finger through her hair, humming quietly to some unknown tune that just popped into her head.
She was just thinking about that pack of Drooble's Best Blowing Gum waiting for her in her dorm when she heard raised voices coming from around a corner. She peeked around it and overheard them talking about houses and arguing about who was better.
They were first years, one of them who were Ravenclaw, who looked faintly familiar and another whom she had never seen before, a Gryffindor. They both seemed to be the opposite of Ebony's mood today, seemingly to be grumpy and irritated, spitting insults, some senseless, at each other. When she heard the girl talking about "young ladies" and the boy talking about Ravenclaws being "idiotic", she couldn't help rolling her eyes.
She hated when people thought that "ladies" couldn't do things for themselves (though she was sure that was not what the girl meant), and being a Ravenclaw herself, she couldn't help finding what the boy said as an insult. It didn't go deep, though. Her mood just dropped by a little -- a little only, for nothing could ruin her mood. She was also feeling like solving this argument, too, so she stepped into the scene, leaned against the wall, and drawled, "this is becoming a roasting competition. You two should probably stop, or else the whole school will know about your petty little argument -- which roused from bumping into each other. Just resolve it already."
She mainly looked at the Gryffindor; she had clearly seen him bumping into the girl first. Or maybe she was just biased.

"I'm glad we can finally agree on it being your fault." He grinned, nodding triumphantly, choosing to ignore exactly what she was acknowledging her blame for. He remained silent as she continued her speech about houses. In all honestly, he didn't actually disagree with half her points. While he was very pleased with being placed in Gryffindor, it had very much came as a surprise to him, as very few people from his family had ever been placed in Gryffindor. However, he wasn't given her the satisfaction of being right. "I disagree.. I think I am perfectly showing off qualities of a Gryffindor student.. Bravely defending my honour against the horrifying insults and lies of another house.." He sighed dramatically.
However, out of the corner of his eyes, he saw someone else approaching, some who appeared to be wearing Ravenclaw's robes. That was quote unfortunate.. But regardless, his bad mood was on the way out, as he had began to find this situation quite amusing. "Terrified in all honesty." He said dismissively as Cynthia saw to not forget, his attention now on the approaching Ravenclaw.
"I'm happy to resolve it, but little miss perfect here just wouldn't accept that she dropped her own notebook.. Really all I can hold my hands up for is that I maybe didn't quite look around enough as I was walking, but she didn't exactly avoid me either."

Cynthia thought that the boy agreed with at least half of what she said. Liar. Never mind that. A girl — Ravenclaw as well — had arrived. She told them to come down over a petty thing like this. Fine. She found it quite strange that a girl was listening in on their argument though.
‘Why should I avoid you? That makes you sound like some kind of monster.’ Cynthia’s mouth twitched ever so slightly and there was a glimmer in her eye. ‘Goodbye Chapman. I hope that we do not cross paths again. Not ever again.’ Cynthia turned in a flurry of her robe. She started walking back to the Ravenclaw tower when she noticed that the girl was still there. She stopped and turned back again.
She directed her gaze to the Ravenclaw girl who helped them sort the things out. ‘Thank you. What’s your name? I’m Cynthia. Should we go back to the common room together? Oh my god! Its after curfew!’ That was certainly unfortunate. It was a long trek back to the Ravenclaw common room. Cynthia leaned in closer to the girl, ‘Maybe we can pretend we just had astronomy class…’ She trailed off. This girl might not even be in the same year!

As Ebony watched them bicker on, she couldn't help admire both of their roasts. They were good- for first years. It was getting late, and Ebony knew it was after curfew. Her mood didn't go away with the time, though, because as the sky got darker and the moon got brighter, so did the spark of mischievousness grow.
As the Ravenclaw girl started moving away, leaving the Gryffindor standing there, Ebony followed her, not knowing where to go next and up for more adventure, even if that adventure led to detention. The girl introduced herself as Cynthia. Ebony smiled, and not one of her usual tight expressionless smiles, it was a real smile, a grin. "I'm Ebony," she said, deciding to introduce herself as well to the Ravenclaw.
The girl then suggested they pretend they just had Astronomy. Ebony frowned at the idea. Different years took different classes... and besides, it was late, and classes ended a long while ago. She looked back to see if the Gryffindor was still here, but she couldn't see from where she was. "Um... I don't think that's a very good idea, to say the least. Maybe if we just went back to the dorms quietly right now, nobody would notice we were gone?"
