Adelaide Barlowe is a handful, to put it simply. The girl has always been stubborn, refusing to change her opinions or to see different points of view because she's certain that she's right. She is not the type of person to be pushed around or stepped over easily, she is very outspoken and will always stand up for herself, never backing down from a fight. Adelaide definitely would not describe herself as a rude person, but she is a girl who is incredibly honest and blunt and is not afraid to say her opinion about someone - even if it isn't one they'd want to hear. Pair Adelaide with an overly sensitive person, and she can come across as rude without actively trying to be. She can also be very sarcastic, while some may find this side of her funny, others not so much. Sometimes the girl catches herself saying something insensitive without even thinking about it, she's always had a bit of a problem about speaking before thinking of the consequences. Sometimes she just can't hold her tongue.

Despite some of Adelaide's traits that can make her an instantly unlikeable person to some, she is also insanely loyal to people she calls her friends. Once you gain Adelaide's friendship, she will defend you to the end of the line and will keep any secrets you disclose to her under lock and key. Deep down, Adelaide cares deeply for the people she loves. She is not a big fan of massive displays of affection and will instead let you know in small ways that she appreciates you: whether that's checking up on you constantly, bringing you snacks when you're studying in the library, letting you copy off her homework for a class that you forgot or bringing you some breakfast in the common room because you slept in. If you really get to know Adelaide, she is definitely a friend that you would want to keep around.

Adelaide is a very intelligent young girl, she learns things very quickly and is always picking up new skills or hobbies. She strives for perfection in everything that she does and she will not rest until it is perfect. She often finds herself checking for mistakes over and over to make absolutely sure that there are none. The girl is very confident in herself and her abilities, although she does not take well to criticism in her work and she will instantly dislike you if you try to criticize her. The girl is ambitious and has big dreams for the future, when she's not busy she will often find herself dreaming of how she will be in the future. Christmas Day, 2009. Snow is falling heavily, covering the city of London in a blanket of white, gifts are being opened, food is being ate and families are spending some well needed time together. In the late evening of the 25th, Sebastian and Evelyn Barlowe were blessed with the best Christmas gift of all: a beautiful baby girl. From the day she was born, Adelaide Barlowe was doted on by her family, her parents adored her and wanted nothing but the best for their youngest daughter. As soon as Adelaide was able to stand on her own two feet: her mother enrolled her in ballet classes. The young girl instantly took a liking to ballet and became exceptionally good at it very quickly.

For as long as Adelaide could remember, she has had a strained relationship with her older sister, Eloise who is a Gryffindor currently enrolled in her 3rd year at Hogwarts. Eloise used to be the Barlowe's pride and joy, but once Adelaide was born she was pushed into the shadows. Of course she was still loved by her parents, but the jealousy never ceased. Even so, Adelaide has always looked up to and has admired her older sister - she wishes they could get along better. It seems the two clash too much, as every conversation quickly turns into an argument even if it's over the simplest thing.

Prior to Hogwarts, Adelaide was homeschooled and taught by both her parents and tutors. Her parents always expressed the importance of being able to play a musical instrument, so they had hired a tutor to teach her piano. While she does enjoy playing the piano, she does not have the passion for it as she does for ballet and only continues with her lessons to make her parents proud. Adelaide is most definitely a gifted kid, she has always done incredibly well in her studies and was often found in her room reading ahead in her textbooks prior to lessons to gain as much knowledge as she could.

When Adelaide's Hogwarts letter finally arrived by owl on her 11th birthday, it was the best Christmas gift she could've possibly asked for. The young girl could've practically jumped out of her skin in excitement to attend Hogwarts and finally be able to learn magic. The months that she had to wait to attend Hogwarts was agonizing, she used to beg her parents every time she saw them doing spells around the house to teach her but to her dismay they always refused and told her to be patient. One day she had even attempted to steal Eloise's textbooks to read but her sister had caught her, resulting in an argument between the two that her father had to break up.

It was no secret to Adelaide that she was a witch, she grew up with magic all around her and frequently visited Diagon Alley to go shopping with her mother. But even though Adelaide kept getting older, she herself had never shown any signs of magic. The more time that passed, the worse Adelaide had stressed. Could she possibly not be magical? Could she possibly be a squib? No, that's impossible. Adelaide never fails, and she was most certainly not going to fail at being magical. Her parents had both assured her that she would show signs of magic eventually and that she should stop worrying.

Luckily, when Adelaide was 10 years old it had finally happened. It was another normal day at the Barlowe household. Eloise was making fun of Adelaide for nearly being 11 and having not yet shown signs of magic, this had really irked Adelaide and had caused a screaming match between the two in the kitchen. It had all happened so fast that Adelaide could barely process it, one second Eloise was completely dry and the next the sink, which was definitely off before, had started spraying water everywhere, soaking Eloise to the bone. The silence in the kitchen was so tense and the two sisters were both so shocked that they couldn't even process what had just happened. But Adelaide had quickly righted herself, sent a smirk Eloise's way and went to tell her mother what had just happened.

SUMMARY Reducio Adelaide's first year was eventful yet still normal and expected for a preteen girl. She had been sorted into Ravenclaw, which she was incredibly happy about because it was also her mother's house during her time at Hogwarts. Adelaide had made friends, enemies, reconnected with old friends, had good days and bad days but all in all, nothing that you wouldn't expect from someone's first year. She had even learned to start forgiving some people, which is a step up from her usual stubborn demeanor, but other than that she stayed the same throughout the year. She also made sure to stay true to herself and do the best for herself, focusing a lot on her studies and getting perfect grades and making sure to keep practicing her ballet and piano whenever she had any free time, her perfectionism not straying in the slightest over the course of the year and she still cannot accept failure or anything less than perfect. Still, she had finished first year feeling happy with everything that had happened over the course of the year and content with now enjoying her two month summer break before her second year began.

Taking after her mother, Adelaide is a gorgeous young girl and she is quite aware of it. She has gorgeous, silky blonde hair which she puts a lot of effort into to maintain which is obvious as it is always free of knots and is always soft to the touch. Her skin is fair with little to no blemishes, accompanied by adorable round cheeks and a cute button nose. Her features give her the impression of a cute, innocent girl, but when she is angry she instantly becomes more intimidating. Her alluring brown eyes are usually the first thing people notice about her, when the light hits them they almost seem to transform into a sparkling pool of honey. Her soft, full lips are usually always seen with a layer of chapstick or lipgloss on them as Adelaide despises the feeling of dry lips.

The girl puts a lot of effort and pride into her appearance, and it is obvious from the way she always looks put together and ready for a fashion show. Her mother has always taught her to hold her head high and be confident in her appearance because she is a beautiful girl.

From her years of ballet, Adelaide has learnt to stand tall and to always have perfect posture. For this reason, she stands slightly taller than most of her peers at 5'3. She is a healthy weight for her age, weighing around 82 pounds, and ballet helps her to keep healthy.

Style: Adelaide always looks put together, she prefers to keep her hair down but it can also be found braided, in a bun or ponytail if she wants it away from her face. Her aesthetic could be described as dark and light academia as she usually wears colors such as black, dark brown, forest green, white, cream, gold, tan, burgundy etc. She usually wears a bit of everything, such as turtlenecks, skirts, dresses, sweaters, hoodies, jeans, jumpers, cardigans etc. when she isn't in her uniform. She wears some jewellery whenever she feels like it but she doesn't have a signature piece that she always wears, and she also has her ears pierced.

When one looks at Adelaide Barlowe, they can instantly see the similarities between her and her mother. It is quite obvious that she took after her mother in looks, and also her mother's intelligence and love for learning. Evelyn also done ballet during her teenage years, but quit just before she left Hogwarts. She enrolled both Adelaide and Eloise into ballet classes, but Eloise found it wasn't for her and quit. Adelaide, though, fell in love with ballet and stuck with it. She was more reserved at school, like Adelaide, she would frequently find herself reading or doing homework in the library and Evelyn only had a very tight-knit group of friends. She always found herself taking care of and looking out for other people, so she knew that she wanted to become a Healer to help others when she left Hogwarts. As expected, Evelyn got O's in her N.E.W.Ts and went on to become a Healer at St Mungo's. Adelaide truly doesn't know what she would do without her. If anyone were to ask Adelaide who her biggest role model was, she would say her mother.

Adelaide certainly gets her ambition from her father. He is a Slytherin through and through: ambitious, cunning, prideful. He is kind though, and the complete opposite of the typical Slytherin stereotypes. He is not a blood purist, in fact, he is adamant with Adelaide and Eloise that they should treat Muggle-borns and Muggles with the same amount of respect as anyone else. Sebastian was a jokester during his time at Hogwarts, the 'class clown' as some would say, he loved pulling pranks and frequently got into trouble - though he surprisingly sustained good grades throughout his years. He's always had a fascination with dragons since a young age, and knew that he wanted to pursue a career as a dragonologist. Because of his job, Sebastian is rather busy and isn't around all the time as he needs to be at the dragon reserve in Romania, though he still tries to find as much free time as he can to spend with his family. Adelaide is close to her father and has always admired his ambition, she wants him to be proud of her.

Eloise is the polar opposite of Adelaide. While Adelaide strives for perfection, Eloise settles for just good enough. Adelaide spends hours studying or practicing a skill, Eloise spends most of her time hanging out with her group of friends. Eloise is popular, but she is still incredibly nice to everyone (except to her sister) and she can frequently be seen pulling pranks or causing mischief in school and at home. She's a bit of a troublemaker and has a bit of a wild streak. Somehow, though, she still manages to not get caught and hasn't gotten into trouble (yet). The girl is very active and adventurous, highly preferring the outdoors to studying and homework. She will frequently be seen doing reckless things outside, such as climbing trees, jumping into the Great Lake or trying (and failing) to get close to the Whomping Willow. She has ruined quite a few of her school robes from being reckless. Despite their strained relationship, deep down Adelaide admires her sister's courage and bravery and she wishes she could be as brave as her, although she will deny it if anyone asks.

Reducio

The Barlowe family go back many generations, and are the generic blueprint of the 'wealthy, blood elitists, we're better than everyone' type of families. The older generations were very adamant that they were better than everyone simply because of their blood status, but the newer generations are less blood elitist and are more open and accepting of Muggle-borns (although some family members of the newer generation still follow the old ways). Most, if not all of the family members, were Slytherins during their time at Hogwarts. Although, despite their beliefs, none of the family members ever showed an interest in the Dark Arts and they were extremely against the Dark Lord.

Adelaide does not keep in contact with the paternal side of her family as her father, Sebastian, was determined to not poison his daughter's brains with nonsense about being superior simply because your blood is pure. He is very adamant in teaching that they should treat every wizard with respect, no matter their blood status.

Reducio

While the Ashford family are considered an old Pure-blood family, they are not your typical Pure-blood family. They have been open and accepting of Muggle-borns from the very start and they highly dislike blood supremacists. For this reason, most of the family does not attend any prestigious Pure-blood events. Adelaide's mother, Evelyn, rarely attends Pure-blood events and so they will usually never be seen at one. Most of the family have been Hufflepuffs, although a few turned out to be Gryffindors and even a few Ravenclaws.

Evelyn's parents did not agree with Evelyn marrying Sebastian at first, as they were not a fan of the Barlowe's teachings, but Evelyn reassured them that Sebastian was not like that at all and when they soon found that to be true, they started to take a liking to him and quickly accepted their marriage. Adelaide sees her maternal grandparents quite often, although she does not see much of her aunt, uncle or cousin since they live in America unless it is a family gathering or during the holidays.

Reducio

Evelyn and Sebastian's love story is quite an unusual love story. Why? Well, because they hated each other during their time at Hogwarts. They were polar opposites and Evelyn found Sebastian to be a very annoying individual. What irked her the most was that he still managed to get O's in his exams even with the amount of trouble he got into. They were sort of academic rivals, the Ravenclaw determined to be the top of the class in every subject and the Slytherin determined to be better than everyone else academically. It is still a mystery to some how they managed to get married and have two children together. Some believe that their two families had set them up, since they were both Purebloods and that was usually the way Purebloods ended up together, but that was farther from the truth. It was only a coincidence that they both were Pureblooded. Truthfully, one day when they were both older and had matured past the need to be better than each other, they realized that under all that rivalry, was feelings for the other. They would never admit it but deep down, they both were pining over the other from the very start but were too proud to admit it. Sebastian was the one to reveal his feelings first, he was ecstatic to know that Evelyn also reciprocated his feelings and their first date was at The Three Broomsticks. The rest is history. What's that saying, opposites attract? Well, it was certainly true in this case.
