Moderator: @Sylvain Wyllt
Backdated: April 9
Time: 16:00 pm
Weather: sunny, temperate
Note: This is back-dated so all of the foreign schools can spectate. The referee is Lazarus Plott, Headmaster of Ilvermorny. Permission to Sylvain Wyllt to speak as him, just remember he is dramatic.
It had gotten hotter by mid-day, an oppressive just past noon with the humidity and the still, stifling air. Yet as the day progressed, the air became cool again. The house elves labored to remove the confetti and blood off the pitch from the previous game, it was a gruesome, yet strangely colorful sight. Now, once again he sun was shining, the sky was robin-egg blue and there was not a cloud in sight. It was uncommon for such fair weather to grace the Quidditch Pitch, inclimate weather seemed attracted to game days it would seem yet twice in a single day the weather would hold-out. The crowd had already gathered, the chatter of spectators and the idle words of the Professors that tirelessly managed them. The match was being refereed by Headmaster Lazarus Plott of Ilvermorny, as always in "spectacular fashion" Lazarus would make himself known. A burst of color: red, white and blue sparks would herald his appearance alongside a trumpeting fanfare, the man needed to be seen. A known egomaniac, he was an entertainer by initial trade and his penchant for the dramatic never diminished with time.
This was the last match of the year, Slytherin and Gryffindor were historical rivals. They were closely matched for this game -- Gryffindor 210 points earned from 1 win and 1 loss; Slytherin 260 points from 1 win and 1 loss. The both of them would have a long way to go however if they wished to defeat Ravenclaw with 430 points from 2 wins and no losses. Ravenclaw was the favorite to win this year, so it was quite possible the year was over but this might prove to be a 'long game.'
"Hellllooooo Quidditch Fans!" Lazarus' voice boomed. Lights flashed behind him as he swooshed his jewel-toned cape fabulously. "Are you ready to see some violent aerial acrobatics!" His voice was droned out by the cheering as a burst of red smoke went off in front of the Ravenclaw locker doorway. Sorry about the scent, they claimed it was 'crisp apple' but apparently it was 'red hot spice'. The air buuuuurned! The first student would breech the cloud of spicy torment and make their way around the perimeter of the pitch followed by the next and then the next thereafter.
"First is their captain, @Evelynn Decipio -- a third year and a first-string seeker. Her keen eye can see most things, so I would recommend heckling another team there fellas.... Followed by their co-captain, @Pax Zhang -- a first year, relatively new to the role and a second-string beater," he would announce as the two of them got the worst of it. Well the strong mixture of cayenne and cinnamon would linger in their hair for the next several days. This would be followed by "@Elena Jangleton, their second string Seeker and a fourth year." The two ladies had done well for themselves, the previous year Gryffindor had been the champion house and played in the summer games. Surely they were hopeful for a repeat. She would be followed by "@Akari Kato" who would breech the thankfully already fading cloud of pain. "Gryffindor's first-string keeper, and second year." The crowd would cheer her on as well as the young man that followed her regardless of any crying, screaming or flight in the wrong direction. "@Allister-Jameson MacAllister, our second-string Keeper and third-year."
The cloud of pain almost gone, a burst from the confetti canon that hopefully someone had warned the students about would go off in "@Griseldis Edelhardt"'s face. Multi-colored bits of paper would find their way into her hair that was probably in space buns unless the writer has forgotten what she looks like. "A lovely four year, Prefect and one of Ravenclaw's first-string beaters." Behind her was "@Marshal Mozor" catching a mouthful of those papery bastards. "A second year and their other first-string beater." The crowd would cheer as the unnecessary confetti canons made the quidditch players look like a bowl of rainbow sprinkles. "@Anastasia Beckett" flanked by her fellow first-string chasers would emerge covered in confetti. "A fourth year and first-string chaser." That was not Ana, it was someone else entirely. "No... wait," he would shuffle through his notes and see a fresh cross out on Ana's name. "I mean @Zara Wilkins" he announced. A last-minute change. Whoever she was. "A second string, out of order" he grumbled. "@Haley Rose. A second-year and first-string chaser and @Ivy Bellamy a third year and first string chaser." The crowd would applaud the team but they still had a few more to share. "@Simon Corbin, a young first-year that serves on their first string!"
The Gryffindor Team would make its way around the perimeter of the pitch, either with a lung full of colored smoke or a hair covered in confetti. "Team Gryffindor for you!" Plott smiled and waved his hands expressively.
"Now it is time for Cloud Cob--" he paused and squinted as he read the index card. Can't be right. He tossed the card aside. "Team Slytherin!" He cried and with a flourish of his hands a burst of green-colored smoke would go off in front of the Slytherin locker rooms. It was eco-friendly, made of moss and fungus. Pro, mother earth loves this. Con, it gets on everything and smelled like dead fish. The procession would start, through the thick of the smoke the team captains. "@Dan Palmer, the by who forgot his shoes," was this omission in haste? More than likely the man reasoned. Protective footwear was a must. "Fourth year, team captain and their star seeker" the boy looked small and quick. He was going to need that on the pitch by the loos of the other team. Dan was followed by a girl, covered in a rime of green from the 'smoke bomb'. "@Tyranni Whitethorn," he absolutely butchered the pronunciation of her name unless it was pronounced 'Tyranny". "A third year, and first-strng Chaser."
The rest of the team would start to filter out after the first duo. The smoke still clearing but full of green-goodness, "@Flash Holmwood, second-string Seeker with the alleged golden eye. He is also only a third year!" The green would coat his hair and uniform, he would resemble what came from the swamp. "@Koko Riddle," would follow as the verdant haze almost cleared. "A fourth year and first-string Keeper," he continued and the crowd applauded.
A confetti cannon would go off just as poor "@Avery Chen" made his way out of the locker room. He evaded the swampy haze but would find a mouthful of confetti in its stead. "Our second string Keeper and first-year." He pointed out the boy covered in an excessive amount of confetti. Followed by "@Maggie Hawkins, another first year and first-string Chaser." A rainfall of confetti still raining down on the girl's head. She was followed by "Lisa Alistair" and "Draven Mirador," the cannon would blast a load of colorful paper in toe duo's face. "Also first-years," Slytherin had a lot of them. "And a first string chaser and second string chaser respectively." He concluded as he shuffled through his Index Cards. There was an obvious slant in this pairing he suspected, however the team had been holding its own thus far this season.
The Beaters would make their way onto the pitch. "@Erin Ryan," would find a sprinkling of confetti land on her as she entered the pitch. "A fifth year and first string beater, rumor has it she broke a broom with her bare hands," he lied. He just needed to add a random fact. "And @Cassandra Ironwoods, a third year and first string beater." They had a decent offense it would appear, that was certainly in their favor. Finally, the last to exit was @Parcival Rainwood, he would get slapped with the remnants of the confetti cannon. Apparently there was glitter at the bottom. The prettiest Cloud Cobra now. "A third year and second string beater." The perimeter of the ring was stained with green moss and a colorful assortment of paper. The crowd cheered and the strange stink lingered long after the flashy entrance. Beneath the roar of cheers (and perhaps Durmstrang boos) the already mildly battered or possibly smelly students would accept their accolades and find their places on the pitch. The Headmaster would make his way to the heart of the pitch and release a pair of bludgers that would rocket through the air. They seemed abnormally fast. He would also pull out the snitch, a little buzzing, golden thing and he would let the snitch take flight.
"On your mark.
Get set.
GAME ON!"

Outfit: x Adelaide was not a huge fan of Quidditch in the slightest. She thought it was too dangerous and reckless. Why would anyone willingly risk themselves falling off a broom from an incredibly high distance? It would be too terrifying for her, and extremely painful, even if they had the magic to fix any injuries. Her father and sister were huge fans of it, her mother was neutral on the sport, but Adelaide just never seemed too interested in it.
So, you may be wondering why she had decided to show up to a Quidditch match. Specifically, why she had bothered to turn up to the Slytherin v Gryffindor match and not the Ravenclaw v Hufflepuff match that had happened this morning to support her own house. Well, the answer was simple: she had told Pax that she would go to their first match if they got on the team, and they had. She had gotten the owl from Pax inviting them to the match, and she wasn't going to say no to something she agreed on, especially since Pax had watched Adelaide do something she enjoyed and it was only fair to watch Pax do something they enjoyed in return.
She took a seat in the stands, scanning the pitch. When the announcer called Pax's name, she would cheer, hoping to catch Pax's attention. Hopefully Pax would notice her, so they wouldn't accuse her of not attending. When her friend, Ivy's name was announced, Adelaide cheered also. She knew she hadn't told the older girl she would be attending, but she figured it was nice to cheer her friend on either way. The blonde supposed watching the match wouldn't be horrible, and her father would likely be happy that she had finally watched her first Quidditch match. Plus, she was doing it as a favor to Pax.

Sophia was up bright and early, despite the fact that the quidditch match didn't start until about four in the afternoon. She'd been to the Ravenclaw/Gryffindor broom race match in support of her house, but she'd she was staring at the high stands around the quidditch pitch in utter fear that she hadn't been able to build the courage to climb to the top of the stands.
It was her first time going to a quidditch match, and she only vaguely knew the first thing about quidditch.
Honestly, she wanted to learn the basics of the sport, but she would never admit it. Especially to her friends, like Kim, who probably knew about her... fan-like admiration of Valentin. Sage would lose all respect for her because of her fangirling. Kim would tease her relentlessly. Gem would - well, Sophia didn't care what Gem would do. She was still mad at the girl after the Ball. Colin would probably just pounce on some mice or something. Strange boy, that one.
After taking a few deep breaths, she finally built the courage to move her jelly-like legs. One step at a time, she made her way up into the stands around the pitch. She was thankful that she was early for the match, because if she didn't have her pick of the seats and had to sit in the front, she'd probably throw up.
As she looked down at the pitch below her, she realized it was still a possible outcome, despite the middle-of-the-row seat she chose.
The people below all looked like ants, even the ones with broomsticks. Sophia occupied herself by looking down at her feet to keep her thoughts from the sheer altitude she was sitting at. After a while, she began to get used to the height, but she still didn't like it.
She reached into her backpack and pulled out her borrowed copy of Quidditch Through the Ages and began flipping through the book as she waited for the players to be announced. For now, she had to figure out what the heck a Seeker even was.

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | The last time he'd gone to cheer for something had been for the Spring Races. It had taken place earlier that day at 2:00PM and Kim had only been present because he'd been required to be there. This was because Sage had grabbed him and dragged him off to do a broom racing errand and gotten him involved as a result. He'd given in and made some nice banners but hadn't realized that taking part in the errand meant he had to go cheer for the Gryffindor broom racing team the following afternoon. What made it worse was the fact this particular race held so many negative connotations for him now. It had been raining at the time, a huge downpour. This implied sadness and loss, two emotions that Kim really wanted to avoid at all costs. He didn't like them at all. Sophia had made his arm bleed, which he didn't blame her for, but that didn't make it physically hurt any less. Gryffindor had lost the broom race, only to have the winner of the race end up quitting the team because she'd lost interest in the sport for some reason. Kim had to admit, that kind of bothered him. Why bother putting your all into winning a race for your team, only to quit directly afterward? A Gryffindor should have won then, or someone from Ravenclaw who had the desire to remain on the team at least. And on top of it all, June had gotten a stomachache. He was kind of worried about her. For some reason, Kim kept thinking there was something a bit off about her lately, even during classes. The purple haired boy would normally have grabbed some healing paste, drank a potion or otherwise taken care of his arm that Sophia had unintentionally damaged earlier. But he hadn't had time to do so. Kim had gone directly from the broom race to the quidditch pitch because the match there started at 4:00PM. As if to make up for the downpour of rain earlier that morning, the weather seemed to have cleared up and had become sunny and nice. He didn't really want to go but Pax had made a complete nuisance of themselves and Kim had finally relented to them. Pax's claim that no one would be there to support them was something Kim felt bad about. Although, it hadn't been enough for him to initially give in at the time. But their steadfast determination to bug him about it every day, every hour had done the trick for him. He'd debated about wearing normal clothes but had decided to go in his Gryffindor robes to support his House. The boy's new enchanted satchel that he'd gotten over spring break from his parents could be seen. He shifted the strap over his shoulder and adjusted it a little. Upon reaching the pitch, Kim stopped. There were people there. But thankfully, they all seemed to have already settled down in their seats and Kim was relieved. It was then that he noticed a familiar face. What was Sophia doing there? Or did she always come to these matches? Wait, no. She hadn't even known what basic quidditch roles were. Plus, this was a match between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Ravenclaw wasn't part of this. So why was she there? Kim's gaze turned to another girl, one who happened to nearby too. Perhaps Ravenclaw had decided to come and check out the skills of other Houses. He wondered if she knew Sophia and the two had come together to watch the match. The purple haired boy walked over to the redhead. He set his enchanted satchel down beside him and raised a hand into the air. "Yo." It was his typical trademark greeting for everyone. Kim had never really done any other greeting before in his life, even when it came to his parents or others. It was just a built-in response. "You know, the White Seeker won't be making an appearance in this particular match. So, what are you doing here, Sophia?" Kim said, teasing her a little. He glanced over at the girl near Sophia and nodded to her briefly before returning his attention to his friend again. "That your friend over there? Did you two come together?" Kim asked, curious. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

Sophia was reading a snippet about the history of the Quaffle when she caught movement in the corner of her eye. It wasn't exactly strange to see movement at the quidditch pitch stands, since quidditch was - according to the book she was reading - the wizarding sport, but the movement was adorned with a familiar head of purple hair. It was Kim.
Sophia's eyes widened and the instinctively searched for an escape before he could notice her, but her fears were well founded. Kim apparently sighted her immediately. As the boy approached her, she quickly closed Quidditch Through the Ages and shoved it as into her bag haphazardly. She'd probably just crinkled up some of her homework parchment, but she could rewrite what she needed to rewrite later. For now, Kim was here.
Kim, her stubbornly handsome, beautiful and strong friend.
Kim, the boy she'd found herself dreaming about since the stupid Ball.
Kim, the perfect specimen who was walking right toward her and plopping down next to her in the stands!
"Yo."
It was a single word, and it wasn't even a word she wasn't used to hearing. She'd grown up not-too-far from Atlanta as a girl, so most of her friends said the word 'yo' all the time back then! But, somehow, when Kim said it, it was so... intriguing.
"H-hey," she managed.
Sophia blushed, but she managed to keep control of herself. She couldn't be a complete fool after what she'd done to Kim just hours earlier at the broom races. And somehow, she was starting to get used to being around Kim despite her ill-fated crush. She could carry herself with dignity and spend time with him easily so long as he didn't say anything embarrassing to her.
"You know, the White Seeker won't be making an appearance in this particular match. So, what are you doing here, Sophia?"
That was it. That was the embarrassing thing. Sophia's blush deepened, and her hands were feeling very sweaty, despite the comfortable weather. She tried to sneakily wipe the sweat away on her school robes. Was Kim teasing her or did he genuinely think she was interested in Valentin?
"I- I don't know w-what you're t-talking about," she said, her stutter rearing its ugly head. She'd better be careful, lest her grandma enroll her in speech therapy during the summer or something. She took a deep breath and focused on each word.
"I love quidditch. I just wanted to watch the teams play, and I missed the Ravenclaw match because I had to get changed after the rain stopped earlier. I'm not here to see Valentin, and if I was, it's just because I'm a fan of his... Seekering."
She emphasized the name, preferring it to the impersonal nicknames the boy had as a celebrity. Lowering her voice, she whispered quietly enough that - hopefully - no one but Kim would hear.
"...do you think he'll be here?" she asked with a hint of hope in her voice. She liked seeing the boy, especially in his chivalrous display at the grounds the prior week, but she still didn't want to give Kim the wrong idea about him.
Sure, he was objectively gorgeous, athletic, and just a big ball of charm, but that didn't mean anything, right? Besides, he was basically a celebrity, and she was just Sophia. So she couldn't possibly be interested in him in any way besides being his fan. Though, if she happened to run into him, and he happened to remember her, and maybe even happened to ask her to hang out later to talk about quidditch before the foreign students went home, Sophia couldn't say she would be disappointed. But no, for now she was content to just be his fan.
...which made little sense given that she knew nothing about quidditch, but that was her excuse, so she'd die on that hill. And she was interested in quidditch. She'd tried out for soccer as a muggle, but hadn't made the team because of her clumsiness, so sports were interesting for her. She just didn't like heights, which had impeded any interested she may have had in the sport early on. It was why she'd focused more on following the duelling scene of Hogwarts.
"That your friend over there? Did you two come together?" Kim asked, gesturing to the other Ravenclaw girl in the stands. Sophia shrugged.
"Never met her. Hold on."
She cupped her hands over her mouth and yelled to the other girl in the stands.
"Hey! You! I'm Sophia, it's nice to meet you!"

Valentin entered the stands with sweat on his brow, already overheating in his red Durmstrang coat. He unfastened the claws that clasped together near his throat and let an angular fold of cloth hang freely, opening his dark grey undershirt to airflow. With the coat clasped securely by a black belt at his waist, he pulled out his right arm and wore the garment on only one shoulder. While the silk-lined coat was intended for summertime in Durmstrang, the hot-blooded seeker found it stifling in Hogwarts’s muggy air. The pearliness of his right arm radiated in the sunlight like a beacon, much like his mane of long white hair.
This was the first time Valentin had come to spectate a Hogwarts quidditch match since that terribly rainy day in 2020 when he joined Yefim in watching Ravenclaw v. Hufflepuff. This was also the first time he could bear to come here alone.
Walking down the stands, Valentin wondered if he might spot Aida here, but the wix was nowhere to be found. There was no way he could have missed the other blinding albino with his keen eyes on such a sunny day. With a sigh, Valentin was about to resign himself to a seat in a wide clearing when he overheard a familiar voice shouting.
"Hey! You! I'm Sophia, it's nice to meet you!" The girl was cupping her hands over her mouth in a true effort to get someone’s attention. Based on the direction of Sophia’s gaze, Valentin concluded her target was a Ravenclaw girl rather far away. The Korean boy who had asked for autographs was also in attendance nearby. For a moment, Valentin’s heart glowed with the pleasant memory of that fairytale day when they all met in the woods. Coming up alongside the pair, Valentin folded his left arm towards his chest and swept his right arm out and up in a deep, rakish bow.
“My liege, Prince of Sweets. My lady Sophia, Queen of Confections. May I have this seat alongside your regal court?”

ㅤ──────────────────────| ── | Once again, Sophia stammered. It was kind of cute he had to admit, even though he couldn't fall for her, Kim could appreciate her attractiveness. Any non-gay person should be honored to have her with them. Sophia's cheeks heated up like a tomato and Kim was tempted to tease her about it but he didn't want her passing out right now. It would draw too much attention. However, his earlier teasing remark had served to make Sophia become a teapot. She really had it bad for Valentin, didn't she? It was kind of amusing to him. The boy didn't know if Sophia had a real crush on him, or if she had a fan-girl crush on him. But it didn't much matter. As long as she was happy, that was all that mattered to him. There was that cute stutter of hers again. Kim had to admit, it was one of the things he liked about the girl. She could stutter in such an adorable manner. Some people sounded really awkward, while others sounded downright embarrassing. But Sophia... Sophia's stutter was cute and he was sure everyone else would agree with him. Kim raised a brow at Sophia's next words. "You love quidditch, huh? Then why did you tell me that you didn't pay much attention to it before and didn't even know the names of the basic positions?" He asked with a raised brow, as if daring her to contradict him. Sophia's determination to prove she wasn't there hoping to see Valentin made Kim smirk. But okay, if that's how she wanted to play things. He'd let her do so. But just as he decided to do this, Sophia's next question made him chuckle. "Probably. He's a quidditch player, so naturally he'd want to watch other matches. To pick up techniques or see the skills of potential opponents later." Kim thought for a brief moment. "But he could very well be watching another match." "I don't know which one he'd prefer to watch. Maybe he'll watch all of them if the times don't conflict." It was around this time that the boy in question appeared before them, as if drawn there by Sophia's fan-girl heart. Valentin approached them and bowed before them, speaking their titles and asking for permission to stay with them. Kim's lips twitched as he inclined his head towards the other boy. "By all means, my knight. Please, take a seat next to the Queen of Confections. You've been in her thoughts for quite some time now." Kim paused and then added a few more choice words. "Your presence would be greatly appreciated by her." He said, his eyes twinkling a little. ────────────────────── ㅤ ㅤ──────────────────────

Outfit: x Adelaide paid no heed to the other people in the stands, only briefly registering that 3 other people had joined her. She was more intent on focusing on the match, since that is what she came here to do. That is, until a rather loud voice yelled in her direction. The sudden sound made Adelaide jump, and she turned her head to see who was the cause. There were 3 people, 1 girl and 2 boys. The girl was clearly the one who had yelled at her, "Um, hello?" Adelaide questioned. She moved closer to the trio, so at least they'd be in talking distance and no one would need to shout.
The girl was a Ravenclaw like her, Adelaide wondered what she was doing at the match, at least Adelaide had a reason to be here. The other boy was a Gryffindor, he had purple hair, which was quite extravagant but also cool, and the third appeared to be from Durmstrang. Adelaide did not know why the girl had shouted at her, since the blonde couldn't recall ever talking to her before. Adelaide's eyes strayed down to the purple haired boys wrist, and saw he was wearing a rainbow bracelet. Whether he meant it in support of the LGBTQ+ community, or he just liked rainbows, Adelaide didn't know. Though, Adelaide was an avid supporter of the community, and she believed anyone should be able to love whoever they wanted to, "Nice bracelet," she said to him, gesturing to it.
"I'm Adelaide Barlowe, by the way, I don't think any of us have met before." She said, regarding the three of them this time.

Sophia pouted at Kim and closed her quidditch book, crossing her arms.
"First of all, I'll have you know that I'm an expert at quidditch. I know all about every position and even quite a few plays from professional playbooks. I was quite the soccer expert back home in America, so I figured I'd learn quidditch, too."
Sophia was hoping she wasn't making a fool of herself with her bluff, but she couldn't let Kim think she was some mindless fan-girl who'd only come to the quidditch match to meet Valentin. She wanted him to respect her as more than a ravenous flustered mess. Besides, she wasn't lying about being a soccer fan growing up, so learning to admire a sport wasn't entirely out of place for her.
"I was only asking about Valentin because he seems like someone who could appreciate quidditch as much as I do. I mean, look at him. A talented seeker, like lightning in the sky. Wearing a beautiful red jacket on a single arm, with sweat glistening on his alabaster face. Snowy eyes scanning the bleachers with practiced precision and - oh goodness Kim, he's coming here!"
Sophia's words changed track as she caught Valentin himself walking toward them. Sophia, for her part, maintained her cool rather well, for herself. Her quidditch book only flew about three feet above her head before she managed to snatch it and stuff it haphazardly into her bag. She was sure her cheeks were red, but she could argue that it was because of the heat, right?
...and oh goodness, Valentin just called her 'his Lady Sophia.'
Her breaths were shaky as the seeker asked for permission to 'have a seat alongside their regal court.' She tried to squeak out a response - any response - but she couldn't force a single word out. Instead, her mouth moved silently. Thankfully, Kim responded for her. Unthankfully, his words were cruel and evil.
"By all means, my knight. Please, take a seat next to the Queen of Confections. You've been in her thoughts for quite some time now. Your presence would be greatly appreciated by her."
Sophia's eyes widened even more and she elbowed Kim as subtly as she could manage.
"I- er, as the Queen of C-Confections, all subjects must be in my thoughts, good Prince," she said to Kim, with a slight edge of passive-aggressiveness in her voice.
She scooted away from Kim a bit to make room for the Knight - if he chose to sit there, that is - and shakily smiled at the Knight.
"W-what the Prince of Sweets meant is th-that, well, you see-"
Her words were failing her, and she was making a complete fool of herself! What could she possible do to salvage this situation? She closed her eyes and begged God for some kind of escape from her embarrassment.
He mercifully granted such an escape in the form of the girl she'd yelled to only moments ago. Good. A distraction to keep her attention away from Valentin and his perfect, perfect face. From his chivalry. From his charm.
"H-hi Adelaide. I'm Sophia. I think I've seen you in the Common Room, but we haven't talked yet."
There. She'd salvaged a bit of her pride. Thank God for Adelaide.

Nif was happy. He'd found some of his people here, and a chance at joyous comradery was afoot. He didn’t have to be alone when there was fun to be had this day.
"By all means, my knight. Please, take a seat next to the Queen of Confections. You've been in her thoughts for quite some time now. Your presence would be greatly appreciated by her." Sophia elbowed Kim, and Valentin easily spotted the subtle gesture with his keen eyes. His cheeks rounded with the hint of a smile and he accepted the invitation, first by taking off his overly steamy coat by sliding it out of his cross-chest belt buckle. He laid the brilliant red militaristic jacket on an empty seat in front of them and sat down between Kim and Sophia.
"I- er, as the Queen of C-Confections, all subjects must be in my thoughts, good Prince," edged Sophia. This was a decidedly magnanimous reply, thought Valentin. Indeed a fine queen. He noticed, of course, the passive-aggressive tone. Valentin was a perceptive seeker who honed his social awareness over many years of sensitivity and teamwork. Yet, he was also an optimistic people person, so Sophia’s awkwardness and poorly concealed maledictions struck him only as signs that she cared. Valentin smiled back at her, utterly genuine in warmth, as Sophia struggled for words.
"W-what the Prince of Sweets meant is th-that, well, you see-" she choked out, closing her eyes as if in prayer. The other Ravenclaw introduced herself inside Sophia’s long pause and complimented Kim’s pride bracelet, drawing Valentin’s eyes to it as well. The Durmstrang’s silver-lilac eyes curled, half-closed in a smile.
“Yes, it’s nice,” seconded Valentin, a fervent LGBTQ+ advocate.
"H-hi Adelaide. I'm Sophia. I think I've seen you in the Common Room, but we haven't talked yet." Valentin looked over the new Ravenclaw, but failing to recognize her from his inner index of quidditch audience members and players, he concluded he knew nothing about Adelaide.
“It is a pleasure to meet you, Adelaide. I am Valentin Schnell, from Durmstrang Institute.” The snowy seeker tipped his head in greeting but remained seated. He was happy enough to be between Sophia and Kim.

Valentin’s shining keen eyes turned, then, to scanning the pitch as his mind began to wander. Things had really changed since he first started quidditch, hadn’t they? Back when he first joined the team, when people only knew him for his sideline stunts and glowing warmth, he hadn’t had any true fans. He was just a kid back then, one that attracted attention and usually brought smiles and laughter to his fellow students, but just a kid nonetheless. Now he was the White Immortal, famed first seeker of Durmstrang-- the Hell-Chaser. He had worked hard to form connections with his fans, making time for them and treating them with love and respect. Val was never one to form gulfs between himself and those who watched him, let alone regard himself as superior. While he didn’t recognize Sophia from his previous matches, he enjoyed the buzzy energy she had now, crackling as it was with nervousness. Kim’s mild cajoling struck Valentin as enjoyable mischief, too. The silver seeker exhaled with calm. Even at Hogwarts he could feel at home, so long as he was surrounded by his people.
Eyes shifting over the pitch as they automatically worked through quidditch observations, Val’s deeper heart still reached back in time. Memories washed to the surface, of back when Mikael and Yef and Romeo flew at his side-- back when his team was whole. Back before Team Hydra reared its variegated head. He missed them. Why did good things have to pass?
Well, nothing for it now, thought Valentin, trying to soothe old wounds. It’s a beautiful day out here, with our Queen of Confections and Prince of Sweets, and a game of quidditch to chew on. Why should we be sad when there is so much to be grateful for?
Turning his head to Sophia, Valentin’s silvery voice warbled low as he pointed to her bag: “Nice book you have, there. Quidditch Through the Ages.” He did not intend to flex having identified the book during its short flight. Of course he knew the tome solely from its bindings, let alone by the keenness of his eyes automatically verifying its swiftly moving title. He just wanted to show Sophia an appreciation for her study of his beloved game. He wanted her to feel happy that her inquisitiveness was great. “You must be a learner, quite the Ravenclaw.” The seeker naturally appreciated wise, studious types. His eyes smiled before turning back to scanning the pitch. As he watched the forms of the Hogwarts players swirling about the field, though, a little color drained from his already pearly skin. Valya felt the slashes of his buried despair clawing its way back up through his barriers, threatening to overpower the fragile happiness of this moment. No, no. He wanted Sophia, Kim… Adelaide, even… to be happy. This was his purpose. He needed to make these people happy. He couldn’t let the sadness take him, not when there was so much potential in this day.
In desperation to shunt down his feelings of loss for his old team mates, his failure to have been faster than his blasted chaser, his inability to hold his team together… Valentin burst out in a sudden laugh and bounced to the side to lightly shoulder Kim, then Sophia.
“Do you know what I have?” he chirped, voice descending. Valentin reached his long musician’s fingers into his coat’s breast pocket and extracted three unopened boxes of chocolate frogs. “I have one for you each.” Valentin’s coat held four boxes, but he only extracted three, offering one to Sophia, Kim, and Adelaide in turn.
