Save Me From These Feelings
Interacting with: @Esmeray Rosslyn
Mentioning:─────────────────── Date: 4th October 2022
Time: After classes
Outfit: Uniform Yesterday, Adelaide had sent a very short, slightly concerning owl to Esme that only consisted of, 'Need your advice. Meet me after class tomorrow in the abandoned toilets. Thanks.', and now she was slightly regretting not giving any sort of context, and probably making the girl worry. Adelaide would've been worried if she was the recipient of that letter, but in her defense, she was in a rush to send it and her brain was on overdrive, so she wasn't exactly thinking her best. Esme was the first person she had thought of to go to for help. She wasn't exactly sure why, because she probably could've asked Ivy too, the older girl would surely know what to do. Or maybe her actual older sister, but she doubted Eloise would actually care enough to help her. She barely ever spoke to her sister if she could help it. So, for some reason, Esme had been the first person she thought of. The two had become closer since they first met, and she would definitely consider the girl a close friend now, so hopefully she'd be able to help Adelaide in her time of crisis.
She'd chosen the abandoned toilets as the meeting place because it was, well, usually abandoned, and that meant no one would overhear them. It wasn't as if Adelaide was hiding a dark secret that would get her into trouble, but she'd rather not have anyone overhear this for her own sanity. She'd been asked to the ball yesterday, and despite every fiber of her being recoiling, she had for some unknown reason, said yes. Now she was regretting it, and she wasn't exactly sure why. Ethan seemed like a nice guy, handsome too, and yet she was dreading the ball. Part of her wanted to bail on him, but that would be too mean, even for her. He didn't deserve that, but he also probably didn't deserve to bring a girl that didn't even want to go with him. Even though said girl had said yes.
A groan escaped Adelaide's lips, breaking the silence that had enveloped the bathroom since she had arrived minutes ago. She ran a hand over her face frustratedly, praying that Esme would get here soon. Even if Esme couldn't give her any good advice, at least she would be able to actually voice what she was feeling, even though she didn't actually know what she was feeling. She was certain she should be feeling excited, and she didn't know why she wasn't feeling excited. She really didn't know why, and it was aggravating her so much. She was seconds away from banging her head against a wall. Running a hand through her hair in frustration, she started pacing the length of the bathroom as she bit her lip anxiously.
Getting asked to the ball was probably not this stressful for anyone who was actually normal.

Save Me From These Feelings
⠀ [ october 4, 2022 ] ✦ @Adelaide Barlowe ESME HAD MADE a friend. And a good one, too—someone she felt she could stay close with for a while. More than a little surprising, especially if you add in the fact that their very first meeting had been rather awkward… nevertheless, it had happened. Somehow, someway. And Esme was planning to keep the whole thing perfect, no matter what it took. Did that sound a bit desperate? It wasn't. She wasn't desperate at all. Absolutely no reason for anyone to think that. Really, her social life was amazing. It was rare to see Esme walking alone as she was now, for usually, she was completely surrounded by people. Friends. Her friends. Yes.
...no.
Fine. Maybe she was a little desperate. No matter what she wished for, or what she wished on, friends weren’t exactly lining up to talk to her. So yes, it was nice knowing that Addie had decided to come to her for advice—even if that may have been a bad idea on the other girl’s part. (What did Esmeray know that Addie didn’t?) It didn’t really matter though, because both girls knew even if this was the case, Esme was going to try. That’s just how she was. Not only that… this had to work out. It had to. Because honestly? She couldn't last another year on her own. Or as lonely as she had been the year before.
Sighing, Esme tapped her fingers on the table in front of her. Today, each class felt like it was taking ages to finish. All she wanted to do was slip out the door, run to the Abandoned Toilets and find her friend, but even if she could, it wasn’t like Addie would be there yet. So Esme waited. And waited. And should have been paying attention to what was being taught, but was far too distracted for that. Waiting, waiting, waiting…
And then a rush of motion as everyone tried to be the first one out the door. The last class was always the worst in this way, since every student was eager to leave the confines of the classroom and have some time to do what they wanted. Esmeray… was never first to get out the door. While the majority of people were okay pushing a little to get to the front and out the door, she was always the one to hang back a little. To wait till most others were out, then go.
By the time she got to the Abandoned Toilets, at least five minutes had passed. Slipping through the door, she almost immediately bumped into Adelaide who seemed to have been pacing right past it as she entered. "Ohmygod Addie I’m so sorry!" the girl apologized quickly, her face already turning red. God, what a start. Shaking her head, Esme gave a sheepish smile and a small laugh, then remembered why she was there. "Oh. Advice? Do you need help with something?" A pause as she took in the state of her friend, then "Addie, wait, are you okay?" She hadn’t thought there was something seriously wrong, but the ravenclaw definitely looked more stressed than she’d expected… and it was always good to ask.
Realizing they were still standing rather close to the door, Esme tilted her head. "Want to move over there instead?"save me from these feelings ✦ [ thread ]⠀

Save Me From These Feelings

Outfit: Uniform A yelp escaped her lips when she nearly collided with Esme. Maybe she should've been paying more attention to her surroundings instead of being trapped inside her own thoughts, but at least the girl was here now. "Sorry, that was most definitely my fault. I shouldn't of been pacing in front of the door," she let out a small, nervous laugh before running a hand over her face. "Yeah, mhm, advice." Now that Esme was actually here, Adelaide wasn't exactly sure how to word what she was feeling. She wanted- no, needed, the advice, but 'A really cute, nice boy asked me to the ball' didn't exactly seem like it warranted such distress from someone.
When Esme asked if she was okay, she couldn't help the borderline manic laugh that came from somewhere deep in her chest, "Okay? If I was okay, I most definitely wouldn't be here. In the abandoned toilets. On the verge of a very confusing breakdown. This is all very confusing right now. I want the ground to swallow me up." Adelaide knew she was definitely making next to no sense to Esme, she barely even made sense to herself. Something was seriously wrong, and maybe she was just being overdramatic about this entire situation. Seriously, it was just a date to the ball. But even thinking about the upcoming ball on Saturday made her stomach turn.
"Hm? Oh, yeah, that'd be a good idea," she reached out to grab ahold of Esme's hand and drag her further into the room. When they were decently far away from the door, Adelaide let out a sigh before attempting to articulate her thoughts and explain to Esme why she was in desperate need of advice. "Okay, so basically, this probably won't make sense because it doesn't even make sense to me, and you know, I pride myself on knowing everything so if I don't know something, something is seriously wrong. Anyway, so yesterday in the Great Hall this boy, he's called Ethan, came up to me and asked me to the ball, right? And despite everything in me saying no, you know what comes out of my mouth? Yes," she groaned in disbelief, as if she still couldn't believe that she'd done what she had done, "and I know that probably doesn't sound terrible because believe me he actually doesn't seem that bad! Like he's probably handsome and he's also nice, but I do not want to go to this ball with him. At all. But I also feel bad for him and I don't want to bail on him!"
She let out a breath after she had finished her rant, and she'd be surprised if Esme was able to catch even half of what she had just said. "So, yeah, any advice? Girl to girl advice here? What to do if a cute boy asks you to the ball but you are actually dreading it instead of being excited? Does that even make any sense? I feel like there's something seriously wrong with me."
