In the spirit of Valentine’s day, the Great Hall had been slightly redecorated. There were a few heart-shaped balloons in the corners of each of the tables, as well as the corners of the room. There were a few streamers around the walls and over the entrance of the door. The usual candles still floated in the sky, giving it a romantic glow.

All four tables of the great hall were in use today. By the Gryffindor table, house-elves eagerly waited for the finished products with boxes that they would move everything into and carry. On the Hufflepuff and Slytherin tables, students would see two professors with a bunch of baking supplies. The Ravenclaw table had a third professor, with a bunch of writing supplies and books to inspire the most romantic of letters - such as poetry for beginners!

Today’s task was for students to decorate cupcakes or make chocolate for their cute crushes. What better way to tell someone you thought of them than by feeding them lots of delicious sweets? Once they had made something, they attached the recipient’s name to the food. Then they would go to the Ravenclaw table, where they would craft the most romantic, most beautiful letter of all time for their crush to read. This letter was where they signed off their name so recipients knew who the sweets were from.

It should be noted that the spirit of the day is all about love and whilst, there were likely very obvious references to ‘romantic’ love, the day is about love in general. Students were encouraged to make something and write to someone they loved, regardless of whether that love is romantic, platonic or familial for instance. Even unreciprocated love! It was just about spreading a little joy and telling someone you love that you love them and care for them, that was it.

SLYTHERIN TABLE: Chocolate Bark

By the Slytherin table, Hjørdis Jensen sat next to a bunch of red, pink and white heart-shaped balloons. In front of her, the table was fully set up with baking supplies. There were trays in place of plates, small cauldrons that acted like chocolate fondues and lots of utensils for students to use. The table was also full of bars of chocolate, packets of love hearts, jars of small fruits and nuts. Today’s task was very simple. She had found a simple recipe for the students to make - Chocolate Bark. Alongside the baking tray, each student would find a set of instructions on how to make the bark, incase they were too shy to ask the professor.

How to Make Chocolate Bark:
1. Pick your choice of chocolate, melting it in one of the cauldrons. You can mix multiple types together for a chocolate swirl (such as milk and white chocolate mixed). Melt each type separately. Chocolate types available: white, milk, dark, butterscotch and caramel. Vegan chocolate is available.

2. You can add a dash of flavour into the chocolate if you wish to, such as some cinnamon powder.

3. Once melted, carefully pour the first chocolate onto the centre of the baking tray provided. Smooth it out with one of the rubber spatulas.

4. Pour the second chocolate on top of it, in a spiral or zig-zag or fancy pattern of your choice. You can also use one of the bamboo skewers provided to swirl it around afterwards.

5. Sprinkle your toppings on top of the chocolate before it begins to harden. Toppings include: heart-shaped sprinkles, small pieces of fruit or nuts, edible glitter dust and muggle chocolates and candies (such as love hearts, m&ms and smarties).

6. Pick up one of the bags, add a ribbon and a tag addressed to the recipient on it.

7. Leave the entire tray on the Gryffindor table, with the bag next to it. The house-elves will leave them to cool for a few hours. Then they’ll smash the bark into pieces and put them into a bag provided.

8. Once you’ve left the tray at Gryffindor’s table, be sure to head over to write a letter at the Ravenclaw table! Add that besides the tray too.
Tips for Making the Bark:
1. Think about the flavours and how they complement each other. (A bit of everything might be too much).
2. Think about what the recipient might like. If you’re not sure, keep it simple or make a few as a variety choice!
3. Feel free to add your/their name into the chocolate somewhere so they find a surprise when they are eating it. Write it onto the back of the love hearts or hide it underneath one!
Students were encouraged to make the bark as they wanted. If there were any questions, the head of Slytherin was there and ready to answer them. For now, she could be seen scooping chocolate onto her tray as she busied herself in making her own chocolate bark. Probably as an example. Or maybe there was a special someone set to receive it. Who knew? Only the professor did.

HUFFLEPUFF TABLE: Cupcakes

Professor Orion Lécuyer was seated at the head of the Hufflepuff’s table. Long gone were the usual golden goblets and plates the badgers drank and ate from, replaced instead by a large array of confectionaries and a colourful rainbow of frosting bowls and sprinkle choices. The France native had prebaked dozens upon dozens of cupcakes for the occasion; choosing to cut out the baking time to simplify things for his students. Frosting piping equipment had also been provided to help the students create intricate designs. He had also labelled all the different cupcakes and frosting flavours as to not confuse the children. It was definitely not because he had hardly slept the past few days and used baking as an excuse not to crawl back into bed. Besides, Valentine's day was definitely the man’s favourite holiday; it was one that celebrated the bittersweet sting of love and chocolate. How could a holiday get any better than that?

How to Decorate Your Cupcakes:
Students are able to select six cupcakes each to decorate, they do not have to be the same flavour.
1. Select your six from the following flavours; vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, carrot, marble, cheesecake, and lemon.

2. Pick an icing flavour. Orion has provided the following; vanilla, chocolate, buttercream, peppermint, citrus, cream cheese, whipped cream, and strawberry.

3. Start selecting your toppings, Orion has provided any sprinkle colour your student's heart desires, as well as any toppings. You are free to godmod this detail and say that any reasonable topping is available to your student. Some ideas of what toppings Orion has provided are freshly cut strawberries/fruit, almonds/nuts, shredded coconut, chocolate chips, and a variety of other small candies.

4. Package the cupcakes into one of the white bakery boxes and attach a tag addressed to the cupcakes recipient.

5. Head over to the Ravenclaw table to write a letter to accompany the cupcakes and either sign your name or leave it anonymous.

RAVENCLAW TABLE: Letters

Professor Alois Proulx had seated himself at the head of the Ravenclaw table, which had been transformed from its traditional elegant layout into an extension of the soft romantic aura that had rinsed over the rest of the Great Hall. In intervals along the grand table’s length were batches of quills, which the professor had gone out of his way to fit to theme: oft dangling from their feathered tips were small, heart-shaped charms. Surrounding them, many vials of ink of various colors, including pink, blue, red, violet, green, and the conventional black. Shaded stationery was in a neat stack near these bundles, ordered in such a way that a gradient went down its side displaying the vast majority of the color wheel. Finally, accenting each group of letter-writing supplies, a bottle of glitter, in case a student really wanted that extra punch of their recipient having sparkling hands for the next several days after reception.

Proulx, a self-proclaimed master of these things (a title he will certainly be dropping later), was willing to answer questions as needed. In the meantime, he could be seen fiddling with quills, as though he didn't think enough of them had corny charms.

How to Write Your Letter(s):
1. Choose a shade of stationery. Your imagination is the limit here, Alois has gone out of his way to supply the colour wheel.

2. Select an ink colour from the following list: pink, blue, red, violet, green, and black.

3. Choose whether or not to drench it in glitter.

4. Write your letter with one of the cutesy quills! Express your sentiments to the recipient of your treat, signing only with your name. (Or don't, if you'd like to remain anonymous. Bear in mind how this may affect the corresponding event if you signed up for it).

5. Place the finished product, with your treat, on the Gryffindor table.

4. The food should have the recipient’s name only. The letter should have your character’s name only. Please don’t put both names on both. For secret reasons. (You’ll see if you look at the event sign up).
5. You may make multiple and send it to multiple recipients if you wish.
6. This does not have to be romantic. You can send it to anyone platonically or to just be nice.

Considering how much Winnie Harper was known to romanticize everything, some may have been surprised to learn Valentine's Day was not a holiday she had paid much attention to in the past. This year was a bit different since she was dating Mathias Pride and had also made a handful of friends since attending her first year at Hogwarts. She was going to make her friends some delicious treats to keep them company throughout the crisp February days. The month was short, but the winter months often seemed to drone on, digging their heels into the frozen soil and bursting through it until they stood rooted in the ground. It was up to them to make the cold months a bit warmer with kindness and love.

The romantic atmosphere of the Great Hall drew the romantic in instantly. Although she was used to the grandeur of the twinkling candles that often bobbed high above the student's heads, the hall's current setup was somehow more impressive. It was as if the muse themselves had hand-decorated the space. Clad in a flowing plum pink floral dress, Winnie herself almost looked like she belonged with the Valentine's day decorations. Her hand had been pulled back into a loose updo, secured by a satin pink ribbon, to save the long locks from getting entangled within the sweet's frosting (nothing quite said I love you like having to pull a three-foot-long strand of hair from your mouth) but her tresses were falling free, the curls cascading carelessly over her back.

Her blue eyes scanned over the room, and she noticed she was one of the first students to arrive, so she helped herself to a few of the cupcakes that Professor Lécuyer had baked for the students to decorate. Usually, she would prefer to bake her own gifts, but she had heard about the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's talent and figured decorating them could be just as good. She wasn't certain what kind Matt would favor, opting to grab both chocolate and vanilla. As for the icing, she went with buttercream for the chocolate and strawberry for the vanilla. She knew that Mathias must enjoy strawberry, because well... She always smelled like the fruit, and he carried strawberry juice around with him. Or had at one point, her memory was still a bit fuzzy. Either way, she went to work decorating the confections, trying to pipe the frosting on so it resembled a rose.

Erin was not shy in the least. More confident, healthier and while it may seem like a stretch, allegedly sane. She seemed polite and well-adapted, at least well-adapted considering the years of madness that defined the years previous. She was well-dressed in casual attire, a baby blue sweater with a cowl neck and a navy pleated skirt. Her long, thick, blonde hair was left down, combed and curled. She appeared to be fastidious regarding her hygiene, clean, manicured fingernails and freshly applied make-up, one might even consider the part-Veela to be to some level a bit vain. She would catch a glimpse of herself in a windowpane, there were other images that did not belong, but she did not appear fussed in the least as she concentrated on her own youthful form as she adjusted the collar of her cashmere sweater and approached the table.

Erin would approach the most obvious, familiar table -- Slytherin. She did not recall much but she was adapting to this new life one day at a time. She knew the head of house, Miss Jensen by name and appearance. She would start there; she would give the woman a cherry smile. Yes, it was a lie but as she was well aware, most expressions were a lie. An attempt to conform to social norms and expectations. "Thank you Miss Jensen," she would chime in a sing-song voice that was far too cheery for the situation. Perhaps something that she had learned from one of her dormmates. She would take the ingredients -- one of everything, yes everything. She had no particular food memory, flavor that brought her joy or evoked some deep sense of nostalgia or romance.

Dark chocolate, white chocolate, caramel, butterscotch, and milk. She did not bother with 'vegan' chocolate, she was attempting to make a 'good' impression, not kill anyone (yet). She would also take come cinnamon, some mint extract, orange extract and peanutbutter, things the chonkier among the student body probably gravitated towards she reasoned. Into the cauldron haphazardly they all would go. On a high heat that would cause the contents to heat to a rolling boil. Was it too hot? Yes, she definitely scalded the chocolate, but it was well mixed.

The white with the peanutbutter.

The dark with the orange.

The milk with the mint.

The caramel with the cinnamon.

The butterscotch on its own, she was definitely eating that.

She would check the instructions as she tied back her long blonde hair with a ribbon. The chocolate is mixed and hot, what next? Ah, Once melted, carefully pour the first chocolate onto the centre of the baking tray provided. Smooth it out with one of the rubber spatulas. Can do. She would pour the contents of her iron cauldron onto a large baking sheet. The quantity she had cooked was too great for a single sheet so four would need to be lined up, side-by-side. A sloppy trail of chocolate would trace between the trio of cooling sheets. Most of the molten chocolate would find its way onto the trays, as for the rest. Surely the 50-minute rule applies.

Time to check the instructions again. Pour other chocolate on top. Well, easy enough, cooking was way simpler than people made it sound. She would heave one cauldron after another and dump the contents on top of the previous. A natural "splatter" pattern she reasoned. She poked it a few times with a bamboo skewer, she was not entirely certain why, but she was following instructions.

OK what next.

Sprinkle your toppings on top of the chocolate before it begins to harden. Toppings include: heart-shaped sprinkles, small pieces of fruit or nuts, edible glitter dust and muggle chocolates and candies (such as love hearts, m&ms and smarties).

No hearts. No fruit, this was not a health thing. No... nuts either, same reason. She would take what remained, glitter, w&w and colorful chalk (smarties). She would scatter the aforementioned on top. The colorful monstrosity screamed diabetes.

Was that it? She looked at the instructions. A bag, anything that lacked hearts and the biggest she could find. Snape Boys would be who the candy was addressed to. Then it was time to move to the nerd house (Ravenclaw). She would wipe the sugar and chocolate from her hands and move on.

It was here that it had hit her, this was not a time to make an impression but rather an opportunity. She would write them a 'love letter'. Not from her, she wanted their company for reasons that had nothing to do with romance (in spite of whatever nightmares Jack might now be suffering from as he relived the PTSD of being desired).

A quill, magenta ink if possible. She would start to write out a simple, but creepy letter.
Dearest Snape Boys;

I am an avid collector of your clothes, locks of your hair, even nail clippings. I have been watching all of you for a long time, you have provided me with endless entertainment and fantasies. From time to time if you note one among you is missing or you have lost a bit of time, do not fret for you have been in good, tender company.

As I like my boys a bit plump and you all need a bit of meat on your bones, please accept this gift. Also, know I will suck the marrow from the bones of anyone that tries to steal you from me.

Signed;
A Passionate Admirer.
Perfect.

She would fold the note and place it in a sealed envelope and place the addressee as "Snape Boys." As an afterthought grab those heart sprinkles and heart candies she had previously avoided and dump a fistful of each onto the already mostly hardened bark.

Baking! Oh how the Ravenclaw loved baking! She had missed it while at Hogwarts, not being able to bake had been hard for her, sooooo this was a great errand for her.
Clair had pulled her hair up into a tight bun, and put on a calm dress
She had wondered what to do at first, but then she well she seen the cupcakes and made a bee line straight for the Hufflepuff table, where the cupcakes were, she sat down and looked at the table full of cupcakes, 'wow.' she thought as she wondered how long it would take to make all of these cupcakes, who ever did it must have been tired after all this baking!
Clair started by taking one cupcake, knowing she was allowed six, she counted on her fingers (for ease to remember) S -one finger up- I -another finger up- M -another- O -yet another- N -last time! Another finger- she thought about not taking the sixth, but.... A heart would be very pretty on the sixth!
She took the first cupcake, Chocolate.
And then Clair picked out Vanilla icing, piping it out she made a twisty shape,
Then she took some small candy balls, and formed then into a S shape.
Smiling she set that one aside, getting another, this time she chose red velvet, and again, she iced it -this time with chocolate icing- and then took more ball candies and formed a I, then with a chocolate cupcake and vanilla icing, she took more candy balls and form a letter M, next came Red velvet and Chocolate icing, this letter formed into a O, the next -cupcake; chocolate, Icing; Vanilla- she repeated, forming a N shape.
That last cupcake was a special one, for this one Clair took a Marble cupcake, and piped peppermint icing onto the top, and then she took so e sprinkles and slowly made a heart.
After finishing she sat back and looked at her art, the cupcakes made a pattern of colours and spelled SIMON 💗.
Clair placed them in a white bakery box and then she went over to the Ravenclaw table to make a note, sitting down she thought for a moment, then taking a blue paper, and pink ink, she wrote,
"from Clair " she figured that Simon would know who Clair was, if he did not, then Clair's heart would be heart broken.
The girl placed the note on top of the box and took it over to the Gryffindor table.
Simon would be so happy!

Taking into consideration Lizzy's quiet nature, this event was the perfect thing for her. She could bake something sweet and send a letter to her crush without actually telling him to his face that she liked him. The Gryffindor had been very careful at keeping her crush's name a secret, because word at Hogwarts spread fast. Now, perhaps, it time to let this secret someone know he had an admirer.

Making her way over to the Slytherin table, where the chocolate bark was to be made, she surveyed the baking supplies it held. Lizzy loved to bake, finished the perfect circle this event had made for her. She stayed standing when she arrived at the table. In her opinion, standing while baking was much easier. It gave you more flexibility and room to move around.

The only problem was that Lizzy had no idea what type of chocolate her crush liked. Deciding on milk chocolate after a long debate, she took some and melted it into a cauldron. Then, taking some cinnamon, she sprinkled just enough to give it a nice flavor. The bark was melted completely soon enough, so she poured it into a baking tray and smoothed it out with one of the provided spatulas. Putting the barest amount of edible glitter on it, just so that it sparkled a bit, she admired the bark happily.

Putting the finished bark into a bag, she wrote the name Youssuf Baid on a tag attached to the bag. Even going over to the Gryffindor table to give it to the house elves, Lizzy couldn't help but blush deeply. Then, she started over to the Ravenclaw table to write Youssuf a letter.

Everything around the Great Hall had been romanticized, but the Ravenclaw table was especially all lovey. Heart decorations, glitter, and jars of pink and red ink lay strewn around the table. She selected a simple white piece of stationary to write her letter on, along with black ink.
Dear Youssuf,

I pondered for a while how to say this, and then this event came along at the perfect time. I am too shy to tell you this to your face sadly, but I have had a crush on you since our first meeting. I wasn't planning to tell you until much later, but again, this event came along and basically screamed at me to attend and tell you, if only in a letter.

You are one of the nicest, most intelligent, and determined people I know. I admire all those qualities about you, and more that I did not list. I've never met anyone quite like you, and I assure you that is quite a good thing.

Your fellow book-lover,
L.S.
Placing it inside a envelope and addressing it to Youssuf, Lizzy smiled. Hopefully this wouldn't backfire and result in a broken heart for her.

Sunday, the thirteenth. Skipping down the hallway, long hair swung left to right following the motions, occasionally making squeaky noise from the friction of the lavender sneakers against the ancient tiles. For whatever reason, happiness and tremendous excitement radiated from this particular below five foot brunette. Unlike those bludgers in quidditch, valentine’s day was approaching faster than she could anticipate. Now that she had someone in mind, things just went all over the place every time the thought of asking him on another date crossed her mind. Spending time with him would be the top on her list, but at the same time, she didn’t want to pester him too much or look too desperate for his attention. She was always the initiator, and sometimes it felt like the attraction was merely one sided. Though, that kind of talk had to wait for another day, ruining a potentially great day would do nothing beneficial.

Upon arrival in the great hall, what is usually filled with an all you can eat buffet now replaced by her favourite things in life. Chocolates and more sweets as far as the eye can see. Three names appeared in her mind, two of them were platonic friendships between a dorm mate, fellow quidditch player, and trauma bond. And there she went to the heaven on earth, the chocolicious table, immediately was greeted by the figure of a familiar person. A Swedish spy making chocolate bark. Suspicious, very suspicious. Aurora tried to make her own for her new obsession and two people who could tolerate her craziness and actually being very nice. Each of them crafted with all of her heart and soul, but not to forget to keep an eye on the Slytherin head of house in case she would do something sneaky.

Knowing how over the top the girl could be, these chocolates were looking very plain. These people were her source of happiness in Hogwarts, not including the white furball, she was genuinely scared of pushing them away because of her excessive decoration that might have overwhelmed some. Four kinds of chocolate, the classic milk, white, dark, and the combination between the first two with her own little twist. Whoever had the brilliant idea to provide edible glitter dust, wish them a happy life. The Aurora style chocolate was—something else, looking more like glitter with a little bit of chocolate and not the other way around. At least their tongues would be shining shimmering splendid afterwards. But wait, did I forget someone? Yes, Violet Carrington. Though both girls had many feuds, they had a heart to heart talk in the bathroom whilst in detention for fighting on the bleachers. Perhaps giving her a little something wouldn’t be a bad idea. Violet was as bitter as a dark chocolate, and as a symbolism of their current relationship, one green muggle chocolate candy, m&m and one in blue colour were being placed on the centre. It meant that both of them were drowning in the sea of hatred. Quite dramatic.

Once things were done, she put down the tray on the gryffindor table, prepared four bags and wrote their names separately in all big capital letters including their year, house, and short descriptions. Last but not least, she would tie different coloured ribbons depending on their houses (if available). One had to be extra detailed in this occasion, the chances of mixed up gifts were very high.

Moving on to the next table, cupcakes. First and foremost, smiling at the honeydukes professor is a must, so she did. It was a good thing everything was prebaked, imagine if the non experienced girl were forced to bake her own cupcakes. Disaster. Just like what she did before, she wouldn’t decorate each of them too fancy. Sometimes less is more, and that was what Aurora aimed for. Nicholas, a complicated person and always confused about his feelings, illustrated in her choice of cupcakes. Six different flavours with their own different toppings. Mainly because she didn’t know whether or not he would appreciate a monotone bakery box or his food preference. Plain, simple, and a wide variety of flavours. And not forgetting the letter, of course. She picked a lavender paper, an ordinary quill because it wouldn’t make any difference to her handwriting, a dark purple ink, and a sprinkle of glitter all over it. The boy would end up becoming a glitter disaster later on.
Dear, Nicholas McCowan, Second Year, Gryffindor, Broom Racing Captain, Incredibly cute, Wavy shoulder length—ish dark brown hair, always looking grumpy and messy but cute nonetheless

Hello, This is your friendly neighbourhood Aurora Ranvier, since I am not the one sending you the letter, I have to make sure you are the one that will get this letter and nobody else so I include a little description to make it easier for the letter sender to identify you. And plus, if this somehow end up in the wrong hand, they would know that this isn't for them but Nicholas. Okay, now let’s get to the letter.

HI! How are you doing? I hope you are letting your body rest for a bit not pushing yourself too hard with broom racing practice. So, here are some chocolates for you, nothing fancy. There are milk chocolate, white chocolate, and dark chocolate, in case you prefer something that isn’t too sweet, so you have plenty of choices. But I couldn't resist giving you something that screams out ‘me’. I am sure you can tell which one. Though, I have to warn you that it is very very very sweet. You’d like to brush your teeth ten times after eating that.

And for the cupcakes, again, I just want to give you lots of choices instead of just giving you one thing that you might not like. We haven’t really talked about your food preference so I wouldn’t know. Hopefully you wouldn’t be too overwhelmed by these. And I wish you enjoy them as much as I enjoy decorating them. But, just for safety, the ingredients are not mine, and I would suggest you to maybe give a tiny bit of every single thing to your dorm mate, see if any of these are poisonous. If nothing happens then you can keep them to yourself.

I put the list of things that I made on the back of this letter, just in case you wouldn’t get the right sweet package, so I could sue the professors.

Lucifur is saying hi to you too!

Sincerely,
Aurora Ranvier

Yes, she was walking back and forth from the Hufflepuff table to the Ravenclaw then to the Gryffindor, and back again, not forgetting to give the professor that she didn't know the name a big smile every now and then, otherwise, her memory would cause her to put the letters in the wrong bags. Winnie Harper, the hopeless romantic redhead would definitely love anything sweet. Unlike the flannel boy’s cupcake diversity, she would choose one flavour only and make it six pieces. Vanilla cupcake with strawberry frosting and freshly cut strawberries neatly placed on top one by one. It was sweet, bright, and beautiful, perfectly describing her sweet friend. All letters were identical, though, Winnie’s has more glitter than the rest, every inch of the parchment was covered in it. The handwriting, however, was still visible.
Dear, Winnie Harper, second year, Ravenclaw, Quidditch player second string chaser, red head, long hair, loves strawberry, pretty, very nice, obsessing over Mathias Pride

Hi! I hope you are doing awesome. Thankyou for being such a wonderful friend. Here are some chocolates and cupcakes for you to enjoy! I put the list of things that I made because I couldn’t trust anyone nowadays. I am not the one who will give this to you in person, so, if what you have received is different from the list, don’t eat those and tell me so I could sue the professors.

Sorry for the long description, I put them here to prevent mixed up letters and all that. Just need to make sure the real Winnie Harper will be the one receiving this letter.

Sincerely,
Aurora Ranvier
Chocolates :
- Milk Chocolate
- White Chocolate
- Dark Chocolate
- Aurora Style Chocolate (Milk and white chocolate, extra caramel, extra edible glitter dust)

Cupcakes :
Six Vanilla strawberry cupcakes with freshly cut strawberries
Cassandra Ironwoods was up next. They were bonded after the shenanigans in the maze which involved someone taking a leak on her skirt, making the situation worse than it could ever be. Aurora looked at them as a friend, a mentor, she was actually looking up to them very much. Their skill as a beater was exceptionally good, though Ravenclaws did better in the last match, no shade. Based on the impression, the older Slytherin might at least accept something chocolatey with some rainbow sprinkles on top. And that was what Aurora did, six chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and a very generous rainbow sprinkles as the topping. As for the letter, the glitter was very little, not too visible if they read it in the dark corner of the snake chamber.
Dear, Cassandra Ironwoods, third year, Slytherin, Quidditch player, first string beater, short hair, dirty blonde ish, sometimes intimidating but actually really sweet.

Hello! Here are some things I’d like you to have! Sorry if you don’t fancy too sweet things but I hope you’d enjoy every bite! I put the list of things that I gave you on the back of this letter just in case you wouldn’t receive the same thing. Please let me know if you don’t, going to sue the professors.

Sincerely,
Aurora Ranvier
Chocolates :
- Milk Chocolate
- White Chocolate
- Dark Chocolate
- Aurora Style Chocolate (Milk and white chocolate, extra caramel, extra edible glitter dust)

Cupcakes :
Six double chocolate cupcakes with rainbow sprinkles on top
And lastly, her least favourite person. That sneaky glaring snake must have cast a spell on her, controlling her every move, because this was unusual. Unlike the others with nicely decorated gifts, Violet would only get one cupcake with a questionable combination. Lemon and citrus frosting with one chocolate chip on top. The flavour choice was based on the Slytherin’s overall vibe, sour. And the chocolate chip symbolised her as a person according to Aurora. A piece of poop. That was it. The letter looked a bit grim, just a simple white paper and black ink. No speck of glitter allowed.
Dear, Violet Carrington, Second year, Slytherin, broom racer, annoying, probably shorter than me, dark hair, her face makes you want to slap her with a chair, always rolling her eyes.

Chocolate and cupcake, definitely not poisoned.

Sincerely,
Aurora Ranvier
Chocolate :

Mentioning: Katherine Labrouder | @Hanako Tone
It was the unfortunate event of looking for things to fill time that Alec had found himself with a surprise date. A surprise date, because neither him nor the date had really agreed nor consulted, speaking of the matter, with the consent of both parties. Instead an outsider had decided to insert themselves and put Alec in such a compromising position. Who did Katherine think she was?! Alec wasn't going to accept a random date! Let alone a date at all! Dates are for weird people. . . Well Alec gave in. He went with Hanako Tone, and if it wasn't for the cursed drinks, causing events that neither of the two could control, Alec would have said the night went well. Obviously he didn't fancy Hana. Alec didn't fancy people, fancying people is weird. That didn't mean Hana didn't deserve to be fancied by somebody if he so wanted. It simply meant Alec wasn't the person who would do that, ever.

The ball had ended rather roughly, and admittedly, he hadn't been able to gauge how Hana had felt with Alec practically abandoning Hana at the end there. Of course it was in the best of both of their interests. Though Alec still felt guilty about that and Hana getting injured, with more things on the list as well that we're strikingly less important. Alec had seen a sign somewhere mentioning the activities in the great hall. With time to fill and someone he felt still deserved lots and lots of apologies, Alec headed off too the great hall. Food was the way too anyone's possible quiet grudge on the fact that your a terrible date who let them get hurt. yep, Alec was pretty sure he'd heard that once. Mind Alec this all had happened months ago, like a long long while ago. Alec still felt really bad about the whole ordeal.

Alec hummed as he walked, deciding to go for the chocolate bark. He'd read somewhere in a book that chocolate helped after an encounter with scary life-draining, practically soul-sucking Dementors. Therefore Alec had reason to believe it would ease the quiet and very possible streak of hatred from a tiny Slytherin. Arriving at the table, Alec did as instructed. Picking the chocolates, milk chocolate and white chocolate(a classic, how could anybody go wrong there?). With a swift hand Alec melted the white chocolate in a cauldron and poured it into the baking tray. The milk chocolate followed after, melting it, Alec would gently tap the baking tray on the table to get the white chocolate to smooth out before he poured. Holding onto the tray, it was multi-tasking Alec hadn't been prepared for.

During the process Alec may or may not have accidentally gotten chocolate all over the table instead of on the tray. He'd become slightly inattentive. Maybe Hana would notice that the chocolate bark was thinner. “Um... Can I have a towel? Or something?!”

Oh right, wizard. Alec pulled out his wand to cast the cleaning spell, and within seconds the mess was gone. “that was a close call.” Alec muttered under his breath. A really close call. Imagine if that had gotten on the floor... Maybe don't imagine, that's a bad idea. Alec shook his head, the disaster was dealt with, and so he got back to what he came here for. Alec ignored the healthy things like fruits or nuts. Boringgggg. Alec looked around the table trying to find something else, anything else to add to the chocolate bark(maybe is he found enough to put on it the thinness would be hardly noticeable.). Alec was about to write off this whole thing as a fail and a disaster. Until he saw it. Candies he'd never seen before. Alec stared wide-eyed. Little chocolate things with an m on them? Alec didn't understand why it was necessary, but this was perfect. He grabbed a handful arranging them quickly in a line across the bark. It probably wouldn't stay but it was worth a try. He made sure the "m" on each was upright and readable. What better way to win someone over then the chocolate itself say "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" which meant it was good!

Alec tilted his head as he finished. It was missing a little something. Then Alec saw these brightly colored candies(smarties). They we're bright, it seemed perfect to compliment to almost completely white chocolate bark. Also the little chocolate candies with "m" would stick out that way. They had more colors then the "m" candy. Alec grabbed multiple handfull. Putting them in, by the time he was done it was almost more of this candy on there then there was the white chocolate below.

Alec nodded, satisfied with himself. Walking over to the gryffindor table he set the tray down. Grabbing out a random bag adding a green ribbon(Hana was a slytherin so maybe he liked green?), and finally adding the tag. Written on it was, " To: Hana that's probably not clear enough Hanako Tone" Perfect. A smile edged at Alec's lips and he would rush over to the Ravenclaw table. Alec had heard about the letters, he had figured out what he was going to write fairly quickly before he'd gotten to the table. It was a matter of picking the paper and ink. Originally Alec thought going for something plain would be best. He could write a letter that was straight to the point with paper that was straight to the point.

But Alec saw the purple stationary paper... He couldn't just leave it there. It was offensive! For this shade of purple was the absolute best. It made Alec forget who this was going too. Did it really even matter? Beautiful purple, also butterflies. It made everything in Alec happy, maybe Hana wouldn't think about that too much. Alec grabbed a blue ink and a quill. He got back to work, trying to write in his neatest handwriting. Alec finished off with a dramatic signing of his first name. Putting the letter in an envelope, running as fast as he could without falling to get to the Gryffindor table. Alec set the enveloped letter by the baking tray, and just like that, as quickly as he had finished, he left.

The letter

Image posted by the memberooc note: it's not just you, accept alec. His grammar and punctuation sucks. It's not going to change. Also yes he totally did write this letter to mess with people, even in the "serious" part.

The letter: Hana,(smudged and technically unreadable)

my love, it burns for you like a thousand million trillion suns. Your eyes, deep, like an ocean, if I were to try to swim I would find myself lost in them. You are an unfathomable rose. This I would know, for, I am entirely eloquent and yet I am writing to someone before me who is utterly ineffable.

Anyway, now that I satisfied the people of Katherine's sort, and scared them away from peeking at letters over shoulders. . . Uh sorry about the ball. I was a bit of a mess. I still stand by the fact that when the cursed drinks didn't cause crazy events it was a lot of fun. I hear sweet things win people over so it's good there's something else with this. How are you? I know your head is doing better. How was the whole section above? I'm not great at writing love mushy stuff. Or mushy stuff in general. I think half of that is pulled out of books. It makes me want to cringe, if someone is going to write like that at least write it good. We should hang out, I hear their planning an event after this whole thing, there's also tea!
The Chocolate Bark
Reducio
On every edge and side of the chocolate bark is candies sticking out of it. Rather then being smooth as they usually are, the chocolate bark is bumpy and uneven because of it. Looking awkward no matter where it was, whether that be in a bag or on a plate. Sugar-filled from all of it together and so much of it. One bite was enough to up and call it quits with eating it for the day.

The bark itelf without the candies however, it's much to look at, a rather thing peace of white chocolate, with specks of what's that... Brown in it? Oh looks like some of the milk chocolate made it in.

One piece however stood out in particular. After drying and going through it's process it would stand out. In a line was what alec called the "m" candy though it looked like a piece or two had fallen, it was clear to see what it reads, "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" making it obvious to everyone that despite the chocolate bark being the way it is. It is obviously delicious.

Youssuf wasn't usually the type to participate in an event like this, no. He was ordinarily the type to be straightforward and up-front, even with those he liked. But his crush was different. For starters, he'd never met someone as obsessed with books as he was. But she loved books just as much as him, and as far as he knew, she had the same taste in books too! Plus she was always really nice to him. He'd developed a great interest in her over the months.

But his honesty just melted away in front of her, accompanied swiftly by his courage and bravado. So Youssuf had arrived at the Great Hall, prepped to send her a note with a cupcake. He looked around once (the Ravenclaw table looked especially Valentine-ey, very pink) and headed over to the Hufflepuff table.

There was hardly anyone in the Great Hall, he'd come a little late (by design; he didn't want anyone else to see him here). After some careful perusal of the table's contents, he decided on sending two cupcakes; one chocolate and one red velvet.
He picked out a chocolate cupcake and selected vanilla icing to accompany it; the classic combo. Awesome. After creating a swirly cap of vanilla (the cupcake now looked suspiciously like Mt. Kilimanjaro with a cap of snow on it), Youssuf chose one of the toppings nearest to him; the cut and peeled almonds. The crunchiness would provide a nice contrast to the softness of the vanilla and chocolate.

After doing so, he set his first cake aside and started on his second. He had to go perhaps halfway down the table to get a red velvet cupcake (seemed to be a popular choice for Valentine's Day), but it was clearly worth it. He squirted a icing of whipped cream all over it, shaping it like a flower very carefully. That took him about ten minutes. It was tough, but in the end, worth it; it looked beautiful. A red velvet cupcake needed no other topping, so he packaged the two cupcakes in a white box and attached a tag, addressing it to 'Ms. Lizzy Solace'.

The Ravenclaw table was extremely pink. Girly, even. Heart-decorated quills lay strewn across the table, with vials of ink surrounding them. He selected a dark violet for his letter; he had a basic plan for what he was going to write.
He chose a white piece of stationery and held one of the weird quills in his hand, thinking. After some time, he set pen to paper and wrote in a beautiful cursive:

He looked it over once again. It was not bad; completely honest, and yet nice, which was what he'd been aiming for.
Youssuf headed over to the Gryffindor table and handed it to the house-elves, with a side tip of two Knuts. The house-elf giggled happily. The young wizard blushed a deep crimson and hurried away from the Great Hall.

Draven would have been lying, if he said he didn't enjoy Valentines day. Memories of his sister twirling in strawberry dresses and spending hours in front of the mirror always brought a smile to the boy's face. Valentines had been Iris' day. The day she could be a princes, and have her prince bring her flowers. When she could live out a fantasy, be like the fair maidens in the tales house elves used to read to them. And were she to find out that Draven fancied a girl, and didn't send her at least a cupcake, she would have passed out from indignation.

Which was how the boy had ended up at the Ravenclaw table with a rather bemused smile on his face. He'd sat down, plucking a quill from the many which were laid out and paired it with a fiery red ink. Because she was like fire, was she not? One not many people could hope to control. Draven felt bad for anyone who tried.

He'd brought his own paper. Heavy, expensive scroll with gold trimmed edges and the Mirador house crest burned in one of the corners. But now that he was staring down the blank sheet, his mind had cleared of every thought he'd ever had. Especially thoughts that didn't make him sound like a fool.

Because what could he say? 'You're very beautiful'? He'd said that so many times, she may have grown tired of it. 'I think about you when you're not here?' Sappy. So sappy. 'Every time I get a letter, I hope it's from you' ? No.

Draven sighed, leaning back. The paper was taunting him. He was debating simply writing 'Date?' on it and calling it a day. But no. It needed to be romantic. And smooth. And charming. And-

'I like you a l-' he penned in, before realizing the ink made it look like he'd just slaughtered a chicken on the parchment, and was writing the words to a sacrifice. Tearing up the paper, he closed the inkwell and switched over to blue ink. She was a Ravenclaw - maybe it was appropriate.

He grabbed a new sheet, dipping his quill into the bottle.

──'I like you a lot. And I'd love to take you out on a date.'
'-Draven'──
Short. To the point. Didn't make him look like whenever he walked in a room, he looked for her. But he did. And he didn't think he'd stop anytime soon.

Edme was hesitant to even step up to the table that often held the Hufflepuff students. It seemed like foreign lands, as if she were an intruder. They had met Hufflepuffs, of course. Like Cross. Or, some others. There were definitely others.

So maybe she only really spoke to people in her house and sometimes a few Slytherins or Gryffindors. It was fine, it wasn't like it was some minefield. Even so they made sure their steps were careful on the way over.

Looking at the flavors, she hummed lowly. The smells were divine, flooding her senses and taking her away to land of pure, mindless bliss. It was short lived as they realized a decision was in order. The little Ravenclaw settled on a nice chocolate, and to add a bit of extra flavor she picked out peppermint icing. Sprinkles were a toughy, so many different colors and options. Peering at cute little heart sprinkles, the girl decided to spice it up a tad and sprinkle the pink hearts onto the cupcake.

Their lips quirked into a small smile as a strawberry was plopped on top of the masterpiece. It was perfect, and Edme feared making another would mess up this beauty. A bit more pep grasped onto her step as they strolled over to the Ravenclaw, the tense air from before immediately deteriorating as they sat down at the familiar table.

Well, not exactly the most familiar as she imagined.

It was as heart filled as the rest of the tables, soft pinks littered around and hearts scattered this way and that, on the tips of the quills, everywhere. Edme glanced fondly at the various colors that made quite the art project. Even a bottle of glitter was neatly placed by the table. It seemed as though some kind of bomb went off and made the entire Great Hall one big love paradise.

Their hands hovered over the variety of colors, trying to decide which would fit best with the overall aura Edme had practically emanating off of the color scheme choice of the cupcake. A nice red seemed to fit well, and the little first year got writing.
Dear Mercy Tolman, fellow first year as well as fellow Ravenclaw

You may have guessed, or not, I can't exactly read your mind, but this is Edme Achillian, the girl from the picnic and the culprit of the library birthday. I wanted to wish you a very happy Valentine's day!

Before you worry, I promise this isn't some love letter. I realize it may feel that way considering the whole "Valentine's Day" thing, but I can promise it's not. This is just a nice gesture from one friend to another. I hope you like cupcakes.

I remembered the picnic and the strawberries, so I made sure to top off this treat with a nice red fruit. Funny, those kinds of connections, huh? Anyhow, I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day, and a better day at that.

Warmly,
E. Achillian

Slipping out a pair of reading glasses, the girl scanned it over before smiling at the letter, the young Ravenclaw grabbed the note in her hand and pushed off the table, stepping over to the Gryffindor and placing both of the items down, the cupcake and the the letter. They hoped Mercy would like the gesture, even if it was a poor attempt at making a friend.
