Of course, so close to the finish line, he just had to get stuck in this strange tentacle-y mess. Luckily, his first-year herbology knowledge would prove useful, but the whole thing had damaged his momentum. No matter, a bit of focus and he could wrap this thing up. How it would end? Wyatt knew better than to jinx it.

Ari was back in the action now, eager to hopefully see his team cross the finish line. If it wasn't going to be him making that move, he'd do everything he could to see someone else on his team do it now.

Happily unscathed from the waterfall as well as the other obstacles he'd faced so far, he steeled his gaze and pressed on to the victory ahead.

Apparently Dee's faith in her team had been misplaced. At moments like this, she missed the duelling team - even in the duels that hadn't been going perfectly, she'd always felt safe relying on Pericles or Eun-ji or Callie or Aida to have her back when she needed it. This race felt like she might as well be going at it alone; knocked off her broom and left behind barely over the starting line, while her team mates failed to take the lead or at least stop the Slytherin racers from running away with it.

Despite the time lost in the beginning, Dee was catching up easily now, having passed four of the Slytherin players and three of her own team in minutes. She gave the white-haired Slytherin kid a cheerful wave as she passed, at least his boasting had been as empty as hers. There seemed little hope of turning this race around - Wyatt was simply too far ahead. Give her another minute or two and she might have had a shot, but that was time she didn't have.

"The eagles seem to know they won't win, but they're determined to bring down some snakes with them! Mallary throws something at Winchect, but the Slytherin evades. McCroire is also lucky—he avoided Quinn aiming her broom at him. Gwild goes for Ashwood, but it's also a wash. But Norrick and Selwyn aren't so lucky! Ranvier and Prince for their downfalls. They probably won't have time to get up before this whole thing is over!

"Ashwood hits a tree but avoids the upcoming thorns along with Prince, McCoire, and Quinn. Ashwood and McCoire catch up to Ranier in the cloud of wrackspurts, but those little buggers are too distracted by Norrick's misfortune. And like a bear drawn to honey, the boggart notices the crowd. Wow, Ashwood hardly even glances at the thing—what bravery from the Slytherin captain. Unfortunately, it turns McCoire—I can't really see what it is up here—but whatever the Slytherin's worst nightmare is, it's really distracting to him. He's come to a halt!
