Reduciovs Galton Lansdale: [d20: 10] → no strike
With Meenauh gone, Galton had no choice but to go all-out, to make the most aggressive moves he could and hope enough hit to give him something to work with. He spread a Ventus, and it was an impressive one at that, one of the branches splitting into a third attack. It was an onslaught of wind, but ultimately minimally effective. Not because of any fault of his own, either: it was well-placed, but both Ravenclaws were quick on their feet, Dee especially so. She dodged the original branch headed for her with flair, and nearly avoided the unexpected secondary wind, too, though it managed to clip her.
Ravenclaw had the luxury of the upper hand. They didn't both need to utilize the full extent of their magical potential--there was only one target to aim for--and they had enough room to breathe that Phaedra could casually send the threatening cloud back over to Galton.
Still, Galton was equally disinterested in getting hit. The speed with which he dodged both spells, Phaedra's wind and Dee's water, was the sort of thing you wanted a video of so you could watch it over and over again. Galton had decided he wasn't going to get hit, and so he didn't get hit. If only the scoring system was based on cool dodges.

Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor: Match 11
Certainly no one would be able to say that Galton was not trying his hardest. In fact, he couldn’t remember the last time he had tried so hard to achieve so little. And even then he had to celebrate the fact that he has clipped one of the birds. His ability to dodge the Ravens’ own assault was skipped over as he contemplated just what he needed to do to possible turn this around. Could it be turned around? Certainly not of he didn’t keep trying.

Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor: Match 11

The first blast of wind was expected and avoided easily; the second came out of nowhere. Ventus was known to split into two from time to time; and Galton's ability to do so was certainly no surprise. But for a spell to split twice? That was rare. Even so, Dee almost managed to duck out of the way, her own spell going astray in the meantime. She cursed, trying to find her balance again in the swirling wind, then twisted her mouth into a pout. So close she'd been to skipping off the duelling stage unharmed and as well-rested as she'd entered it; this seemed like a stain on a perfect duel.

Despite her Ventus' precision, Galton managed to sidestep it. She'd known him to be agile since that excruciating twenty-something round duel a year or two back, and admittedly, he'd only improved since. It was nothing to dwell on now, however; the cloud was now swirling above his head, and the time ticked in Ravenclaw's favour. Phaedra palmed the ridges of her wand, as if urging the phoenix feather within it to awaken and deliver something exciting. Might as well. Her team could afford a finishing spectacle.Doing as strategized (x)

For the third time in a row, Galton attempted a spread Ventus. It was what he had to do if he had any hope of turning things around in these last few minutes. But the thing about operating on such a high level was it drained you, expended your energy and concentration so that eventually you would mess up.
Luckily the unpredictable nature of Ventus had his back, splitting off quickly enough that you could barely even tell his spread attempt failed. It shot off towards Dee, who threw up a shield that bounced it towards Phaedra, who finally managed to just barely twist away from it. All the ping-ponging would ultimately be for nothing, then.
Phaedra's spell, an attempt to leave Galton wandless for the last few moments of the duel, fared similarly, coming close but ultimately fading into nothing somewhere past Galton. So the only substantial change this round was yet another push of the clouds overhead. They had yet to strike, but the threat was there.

Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor: Match 11
This duel really was full of new twists for Galton. He could not remember the last time he had failed to split a spell. And he certainty couldn't remember it being in an official duel. He had to count himself lucky that it was just a failing spread - Mr. Wand had spared him in that regard - there was self-inflected wind swirling around him at the moment. But he didn't feel lucky. His inability to really connect with anything that was not a stationary cloud was perplexing.
But it seemed his time to be perplexed was coming to an end. Just like his last duel, standing alone against two, they would try and rob him of his wand. This time though, he would be able to keep it. What he'd do with it? Only time would tell.

Ravenclaw vs Gryffindor: Match 11

The little annoyance of getting clipped by a spell aside, this duel was pretty much over. With winds whipping around her, Dee was the obvious target for the next spell. Could she just have dodged it? Probably. But why not use the opportunity to flex some of her spell muscles?
The shield charm was a spell she'd only learned this school year, and she hadn't had any opportunity to use it in an actual duel. With all the spells that had rebounded towards her this duel, it seemed like high time she'd get to try it out herself.
Unsurprisingly, it worked like a charm. Galton's spell bounced off the invisible wall, and Dee grinned, wide and satisfied. Perhaps she could be okay with the end of this duel, after all.

Galton’s Ventus rebounded towards her; sure to have grazed her nose had she not darted out of its path. Perhaps the sheer shock of it was what had steered her own disarming attempt past Galton uselessly, disintegrating into the farthest wall behind him in a spark of red. It was almost humorous how dedicated both teams were to passing over the cloud even with the duel nearing its end. Given their all but secured victory, there was no reason for further risk if they could help it.Doing as strategized (x)

To the very end, Galton gave 100%. To operate on this high a level of magic was risky, had the potential of letting him down. But it was clear he was losing, so he could play it safe and get nothing, or take the risk and have some chance, however small, to change his fate.
It didn't work, ultimately. In fact this Ventus exploded in his face, which couldn't be pleasant or heartening, but hopefully Galton could walk off this stage with his head high, knowing he'd made the right call, even if it didn't pan out.
And to the very end, the duellists remained committed to their ping-pong sidequest. The cloud was passed back and forth (it was almost just a flex, the way they channeled that second stream of a spell to taking care of it), and it ultimately wouldn't gain them anything. But it had been crackling rather ominously over Phaedra's head before she sent it over, so maybe it was for the best.
So Galton took one last double face-full of wind, Phaedra's brutally on point, and held onto his wand despite Dee's efforts (it had been a bit of a rocky duel for her, as far as landing hits went, but to be fair her opponent was Galton). And that was that. "Time!"
Bridget's call was rather easy today. Ravenclaw had both of their members standing, while Gryffindor only had Galton left, and more than that, the Ravenclaws were practically untouched. They'd rather dominated this one. "The victory goes to Ravenclaw! Nicely done."
She turned to Galton. "Well fought." A few nice words weren't really consolation for losing, but perhaps this would be: she pulled out a collection of chocolate bars. Galton always handed out licorice wands after duels, and the times she'd gotten them after her own matches were always nice, so Bridget had finally decided to adopt something similar. One was offered to each Phaedra and Dee, and two to Galton. "The other one is for Meenauh. Make sure you check in with the healers, and all that."
A WIN FOR RAVENCLAW!
