Entertainment was a major factor in the Tones' lives. And it didn’t only start when they established their own radio station that was now heard by millions of wizards everywhere. They have always been a little bit more gifted at the art of pleasing others through dances, conversations, and more specifically, singing.

Long before the Tones had more than enough to afford luxurious estates, they lived in a large barn. Merely taking care of livestock at day while performing at drunken bars at night. That was a repeated future the children of the Tones would see and agree. Although the food was occasionally hard to find during winter nights, it was their nightly jobs that kept them going. For the Tones possess a genetic talent. One that was rumored to outsing sirens that even the harshest thunderstorms would stop and listen to their magical tunes. It was an occupation they were satisfied with for generations and it had stayed that way until two cousins agreed that they could not share the shame joy. Since they were children, the unsatisfactory look in their eyes marked them different from the rest of the family. On the first day the spring sun touched their checks Kano, one of the best singers in their family, and Koji, the self-proclaimed genius made a pact. A pact that changed the future generations of Tones forever.

While feet were still planted on the grounds of the dirty streets as they relied on a passerby’s attention for a few coins, their aim to have no wizard in Japan to be unaware of their names pushed them forward. From streets to bars to weddings to events to festivals to concerts. Years of training, communicating, and working had paid off and Kano was now considered one of Japan’s singing sensations. An offer to have their own radio station would only boost her popularity as the years go by. And that was how they have managed to host their program where Kano was the lead star. Her increasing popularity never gave them a bad start on it and sooner or later, it became one of the most turned-to programs on the radio. Soon, it was not only programs where people heard Kano sang but private venues, concerts, and such. This made her a sought out entertainer for purebloods everywhere in Japan. Who wouldn’t want a successful singer to sing at their birthday parties? It was those eager desperate greedy hands that wanted what was hard to obtain that Koji was getting increasingly obsessed with.


As more years passed on and their wealth accumulated, their barn days seemed more like a hazy dream. But it wasn’t the same for Koji. Like Cinderella on her way to the ball, they had everything they ever wanted. But while Kano was satisfied with the fruits of their hard work, it was only Koji who was suddenly painfully off the clock that could strike midnight. And they would wake up in their old rusty barn, staying up late, skipping meals, and singing in commoner bars once more. Upon realizing this, the family started to take a turn for the worst. The 6th of July would then be a date many remembered to be a devastating one for the next couple of years for many. Kano had made headlines once more, but it was not for another gripping album release. It was her death. Cause? Overworking. While her death had tightened back the few loose screws in Koji’s mind, there were still a couple left unattended. And it was those loose screws that made a long generation of Tones lead mentally unstable lives.

As the head of the house and the reason their social standing had drastically changed, no one in the family opposed Koji and his new set of rules. Rule number 1: The perfect must be identified immediately and undergo intense training to be a singer worthy of the Tone name. Rule number 2: Those who do not qualify rule 1, do not qualify for the family at all. It was clean and cut rules yet family members knew what he meant by those simple words. From then on, anyone who possessed an ability to sing had been granted privileges in the family like no other. A privilege that came with a price. One that cost many of their time, energy, effort, and in a lot of cases, their mental stability. With only the guarantee of being a sensational star keeping their heads up. Anyone who fails to be perfect was discouraged from venturing outside of the main manor. Basic necessities were given but merlin forbade you to humiliate the family. It was as simple as that.

Many wizard families know the story of the Tones. They were respected well by different classes of social standing as it was a ‘ Rags to Riches’ story that earned them a spot in the world of high class. Although, they seem to only know the part about them being street musicians before making their own albums. As much as they were respected, they could be secretive. Extremely. Obviously, the part about how the household works with Koji’s obsession with perfection was not publicly known. But nevertheless, to the majority of wizarding families was odd for a family who had made a living in the Entertainment Industry to make themselves so detached from those who weren’t in the family tree. Most of the suspicions that arose from their secludedness were mostly forgotten as the spotlight on them and their talent shone brighter- yet to those who were more attentive, it was impossible for a family with such secrecy to have no secrets to keep at all. As if some god or deity cleaned up any dirty history they had regularly. The curious ones who wished to find dirt on the family usually end up with dirt in their own mouth in the end. No leads. No traces. Nothing.

And it was like that for many years after. It was only when Hanako’s grandmother and Koji’s unfortunate niece took her first breath in the cold Tone Manor that change began to stir. She was a lotus sticking out of a murky pond, showering anyone who glanced at her a beautiful air of calm and kindness despite her surroundings. She was a great opposer of the 2 rules of the Tones, which automatically led her confined to a nearly abandoned wing for nearly all her growing life. With nothing but an underpaid muggle-born butler, short visits from her dearest niece and nephews (who were oddly the only ones who ever acknowledged her existence ), and books galore to keep her steady. With that, she spent years soaring over books, memorizing languages, learning all she could until her final plan was finalized. A plan to leave this damned place.

At the age of 27, it was hard to tell she was locked inside for most of her life. The way she escaped, hopped on to the nearest plane to the U.K, and took off like nothing happened was extraordinary. And that extraordinary was shared with the same muggle-born butler who had been with her since the beginning and was now a part of their new life.


Like a happy ending for Romeo and Juliet but with more reasonable age gaps, they settled down in Borehamwood, with intentions of living in guise as muggles for the rest of their lives.

While they were enjoying their newly snatched freedom, the Tone Manor was a wreck. On the night of her disappearance, plates were thrown, screaming became a natural tone, and children were hiding in their bedrooms. It was pure havoc. Everything Koji had built up to this point could crumble within seconds if his deeply detested niece spilled anything about their family. Good for him, that doesn’t seem to be the case. After years of scanning everywhere for his niece, he concluded there was not a trace left. It was as if she disappeared. While terribly anxious, he could not help but be glad the biggest disgrace his family ever done was cleaned off. Her lack of talent wasn’t doing her any good so there was no use in keeping her. But Koji was a careful man. Relying on luck or chance was not something he’s fond of. While he had stopped searching for Moku, the goal of her living back in the house was not off the table. She had to pay for all the stress she put on him and their family after all.

Back to the happy magical couple living as muggles, they were not able to keep their wishes to live among the muggles when their daughter (who later on became Hanako’s mother) got her first Hogwarts letter. Guilty for keeping her away from her magical roots, they slowly eased back into the wizarding community for her sake. Unfortunately, the daughter's achievements as being one of the best witches of her time were thrown away when the same muggle-born butler that flew to another country to have a better life had passed away in his sleep. Once again, a dark age washed over the U.K Tones. Ridden with devastation, the daughter ended up with a dangerous workaholic attitude in her job as an Unspeakable. With that, she was barely at home. And when she was, it seemed like traveling to different countries was better than showing her face to her only living family. Having no one but her plants and snakes to accompany her, there was a period of time where mother and daughter would quarrel. The mother, insisting that she finds a good marriage partner. The Daughter, who insists she was too busy to allow such a thing.

Good news for both of them, a solution turned up. That solution is called Hanako’s Future Dad. A muggle working as a fairly popular businessman in the confectionery industry that was also married to his job. It was only his muggle status that was the problem. The daughter didn’t love him nor trusted him enough to know that he would take the magical part of the world kindly. Yet, to let loose such a perfect husband candidate was a foolish move. Deciding to hide the magical side of their family until her child would have magical blood run down their veins, an agreeable marriage was set and the two first had a child with the same name as her late father. Hanako Tone.

It happened in the prime years of his conflicted emotions. Many things were changing around him when his siblings were born. Suddenly, Mother had too much word to send a mere letter to her son on his birthday. Father was more interested in the potential of his new children than the one he already had was left alone all too suddenly. A new caretaker had entered the house as it was clear Hanako's parents would not be home as often as before. A few years passed and Hanako's hope to spend more time with his family aged like spoiled milk and soon turned into nothing but a cup of bitter mold no one wanted around. He started his early stages of acting out although not as severe as the years to come. One particular birthday would've had the power to change his turbulent demeanor. The one birthday where he received a letter a month prior that his parents were to come by on his birthday to celebrate. He had been an absolute angel since that news got to his head. He was a cheerful lad. As sweet as finely harvested honey and oddly well behaved. It was one of the best months of his life and the same could be said for the caretakers. No surprise to anyone, that good behavior didn't last long.

"Where are they, "a young boy asked a nervous caretaker with a chill air surrounding him. The flower crown on his head didn't diminish his cold demeanor and the two unworn flower crowns looked more pitiful as the slow seconds went on.

" They.. were unable to make it" the caretaker managed to say, relaxing into the idea that the boy would not be that angry. He was an absolute angel for the past month, surely he wouldn't act out now? Heaven knows they could take care of another tantrum. It was peaceful for a while, actually. Young Hanako didn't move much. No sight of emotion could be spotted on his face but it was clear that there was no sight of happiness anywhere. Just as the caretaker thought it was over, a painful shriek forced them to close their ears.

Horrible screaming followed with bursting tears and broken appliances thrown by none other than a young boy. His sentences were muffled and unable to be deciphered but the caretakers were too busy calming the boy down. Which did little to nothing on the boy as he continued with even louder screams and more tears. Too distracted by the child, they failed to notice small objects around them beginning to float, unexpected air starting chilling the room and the lights began flickering rapidly. It wasn't until a new face appeared in the situation that time began to flow slowly again. Hanako, although red-faced from anger and vision blurred from tears, he spoke in a dry voice. " O- Obasan.."

The light finally went out. In a shroud of darkness, the caretaker was startled by multiple sounds of items smashed onto the floor that came from all different directions that they began to panic. Their own screams were ignored as Hanako's attention was towards the warm, frail embrace of an older figure. His grandmother, without another second, rushed to him- immediately soothed the boy who had no more energy to fight her off that he immediately dropped his knees and hugged his grandmother tightly, burying his small face into her shoulder as he continued to sob more softly. Unbothered by his actions, his grandmother merely patted his hair and whispered delicate words of encouragement contrary to Hanako's mumbles about his parents not loving him anymore.

That was how the night ended. In the end, the frightened caretaker was sent back and Hanako's grandmother took the responsibility of tucking in the child to sleep. Once he did, she immediately called in an owl and sent a long letter to her daughter. Most of the context was irrelevant, and she spared the daughter of the details, but she was clear about one thing. That Hanako was a wizard.

It was a memorable year for Hanako Tone. After almost being placed in Hufflepuff, the Slytherin quickly found refuge in the Severus Snape dorm. Where the rest of his dormmates are just as quirky as him (if not more). And quirky is a very light term to describe the Severus Snape dorms. Just as he thought he had everything under control, his bestie Lei Liu had decided to call it quits, leaving Hana with Percival Rainwood, who was known to be a sheltered pureblood that has crushes every 2 months. While they had their differences, the two quickly developed a quick bond after talking about absolutely nothing. While Hanako had been puking slugs out in the abandoned toilets, Percival was there with him giving the best response to stumbling upon a situation like that. Nothing.

But alas, not all relationships were as smooth sailing as Percival and Hana’s (if we were brave enough to call it smooth in the first place). Seniors were not very kind to the poor boy. One named Ruka had enough of Hana nosy self and had him puking slugs, while another with the name of Katrina, attacked him with something even worse than slugs. Cats. CATS! Hanako’s mortal enemy where wrath and wars ensued whenever both Hana and cats were in the same room.

Apart from the horrible seniors, Hanako had immense luck with his other relationships. Friends everywhere? No! In fact, Percival was the only friend he had all year, just as he liked it. He did however, met a sweet funny boy named Wyatt, who was destined to be an interesting figure to Hanako. Being the first parselmouth he met during his 1st year, Wyatt had a cute little bug attached to him named Hana, and he wasn’t going anywhere soon. Not until Wyatt stops giving such fun reactions.

As for his love life, Hanako had none. Hooray! Love, gross, ew. But he did have a date during a wonderful experience in the blossom ball. It certainly was memorable when bees attacked everyone. Good times, good times.

Another memorable experience was Opeila Winter, who was Percival’s first official girlfriend. She had unlocked a lot of feelings in the boy. Namely, wrath, jealousy, and envy. This had pushed him to take whatever measures he could to make her know just how much he liked her existence. Percival was too good for her, anyway.

By the end of the summer, he decided to come to summer camp in Hogwarts. Upon entering his shared tent, he had witnessed 2 hot seniors slinging curses and spells at eachother as if they were the only people there. Once everything had calmed down, Hanako along with other slytherins joined in on a mysterious tent that called all slytherins and selected other few to fight each other. As the fight club ensues, Hanako begins to be stressed, being placed to go against none other than Percival Rainwood.

Alas, being a complete buffoon when it comes to emotions, his worry turns to anger. Which urged him to lash out and blame it all on Percival, spilling some unfavourable words to his former best friend, which retorted with a powerful punch to Hanako’s jaw. Which he has full confidence that he deserves.

As if his emotions weren’t conflicted enough, Hanako met Dealla. A Ravenclaw he attempted to shoo away, and yet she still stayed. She witnessed a vulnerable side to the fragile boy, and oddly- was determined to help him. By making him do essays about friendship, and common sense. This was when Hanako’s Decent Human Behavior ™ classes with Professor Daella started.

After apologising to Percival at the Rainwood residence, Hanako was more than determined to learn how to be a good friend to Percival. Wholeheartedly accepting the soft spot he had for the blonde.

It’s a whackadoodle doo. Less impactful than his previous years. Now that he has been having Decent Human Behavior ™ classes with Daella Prince, he felt a sense of losing himself. What was Hanako Tone if not for the insensitive jokes? The crudery? The clownery?! Busy navigating through this, Hanako was absent for half of the year.

That doesn’t mean he did nothing, though.

Remember Percival’s girlfriend? Well, it’s ‘ex’-girlfriend now. And if possible, the new title had Hanako’s anger rise to heights he didn’t even think was possible? And what does he do with that anger? Well, trap her in the Chamber of Secrets for the whole night, obviously!

Speaking of the Chamber of Secrets, a memorable group and club was founded. Introducing, the A.S.P. Association of Student Parselmouths. Their first meeting was a memorable one. Having Wyatt left in broken ribs, and half of the members there crying. Nevertheless, the chaos wasn’t enough to make them break apart. In fact, Hanako liked to argue that it made them closer.

One person he couldn’t seem to get close to is Cassandra Ironwoods. Being one the receiving end of Hana’s clownery during their first A.S.P meeting, they had a hard time ever trusting him. However, over nice chamomile tea, the two were able to talk it out. Friends? No, not at all. But Cassandra certainly seems to be fun around.

You know who else was nice to hang out with? Not Hana. Finding out that he felt easier when people didn’t know who he was, he created Paper Bag Chan. Whom was- self explained- a paper bag. Under the paper bag he was a new person named Papa MacarooOni. Kindly nicknamed as Mac,.by Adlai Rod. Who ended up being the victim of this complete lie. Because to her, Hanako Tone was an odd, apathetic boy. While Papa MacarooOni was a friend. He continued to feed her lie after lie, finding comfort in being around her while he was wearing a paper bag. Immoral. But was he going to stop anytime soon? No.

But what needs to be stopped is Percival’s charm. It was so annoying! Having people like creepy Selim and googly eyed Ileen gawking at him. During the year, jealousy was Hanako’s best friend. Constantly near him whenever Percival surrounded himself with other people. Which resulted in Hanako's slightly increased absence in Percivals life. Of course, they were still friends. Right?

If this year wasn’t that exciting, summer certainly made up for it. Finding out his father wasn’t being the most faithful, Hana wasn’t his best during those times. Burdened with the newly found secret, he sought distraction. He could keep himself busy enough, but the boy managed. With the new help of his snake, Cu Sith, it was simply easier for pretend there was nothing wrong.

「 TN RADIO TM 」

A radio station, as the name suggests. One that's pretty popular within the wizarding world in Japan, even now. While the popularity has decreased since the 90’s, it’s still considered one of the most popular among other radio stations. What makes this particular radio special is the singers they feature. The family that runs this station is known to have a particular talent in singing and dancing.

Their rags to riches story was a famous one. Their family was once merely singers on the streets or bars, which made their way up to the top. Having this background, no one questioned when they featured their own family singers in their own radio station. And it was one fact that most didn't argue about. Some can scream nepotism, or narcissism all they want. But to deny their musical talent often meant that you were tone deaf, or actually deaf.

Kana Tone, one of the most influential singers of her time, was a part of the Tones. And the very first member to get featured in TN radio. Whose voice mesmerised many fans, quickly earning the radio the fame they deserved. Each generation had at least one exceptional singer. Currently, Isao Tone has all the spotlight to himself. However, no other Tone’s fame could match up with the fame Kana had, before her early death.

There was also another Tone that was popular before her long hiatus. Miwa Tone, twin sister of Isao Tone, was the mastermind behind all his big hits. While she doesn’t sing, she was an exceptional musician and lyrics. However, 5 years ago, she had quickly announced her hiatus and went to live among muggles to study their music in great detail. Many criticised that the reason why Isao wasn’t as popular as he was, is because Miwa had left. Her return date is unknown to this date, but the majority of her fans will hold deep hope for her return.

Apart from that, the TN Radio station occasionally features new artists, giving them a bigger platform to showcase their abilities. Didn’t matter if you lacked the money, or connections. If the Tones sees potential in you, then it was considered one of the best compliments anyone could give your music. Often than not, they end up being stars themselves. Because of this, the radio had a positive reputation for discovering hidden gems.
