3/5 Goodbyes
Hanako ignored to notice how tense the man walked next to him. His gloved fingers impatiently tapped on the trolley as if counting in his head would keep his sane. Despite his obvious sign of discomfort, his face was held high in a focused manner with a back straight like a ruler and strut showed he was better than anyone else at Platform 93/4 . Expected of a butler from the Tone household.
' Child, I still cannot comprehend why you insist that I wear these...these commoner clothes ' The way he said ' commoners ' with such disdain helped Hanako smile just slightly.
' Mr. Ito, I know those clothes are a bit different from the clothes you're used too, but I don't want to make it too obvious I'm richer than most of the population at Hogwarts. It's bothersome to deal with students begging to be my friend '
A pincer voice pipped up, ' 兄, I think it's too late for that ' Said voice came from the little girl walking next to Hanako, her elegant strides matching their butlers. 兄= brother
' We came here by limo ' a boy, with similar features to the little girl added as if he was offended how Hanako forgot how they had already shown their financial status. ' If 兄 really tried to hide our wealth, this is another day where I question our blood relations with you'
His twin sister nodded in agreement.
Being called ' stupid ' indirectly by short 6 year olds with fake glasses too big for their heads never failed to make Hanako's day. ' Alright, Minister of education Ume-' he addressed the girl first '-Ph.D. graduate Rei ' he looked at the boy. ' You caught me, brainiacs, ~ ' he playfully held up his hands in surrender ' I, everlastingly handsome Hanako Tone, confess my crimes of wanting people to get on their knees to be my friend. Please, have mercy on my beautifully poor soul! '
The twins showed a satisfied grin, ignoring the low sigh coming from the butler. ' There's one thing you can do to make up for your crimes ' Ume said, giving her twin a knowing look which was replied with a nod as if they planned this to happen.
' 兄, just make nice friends at Hogwarts ' The way Rei looked straight into Hanako's eyes with such seriousness made him flinch ever so slightly. His siblings were scary when they act more adult than Hanako ever did.
' I have Lei~ ' he tried to cover up his discomfort with their request with a cheeky smile. He loved them, and he was touched they just wanted him to have a nice time at Hogwarts. But why can't they understand he only needs his family and Lei to keep him sane? Trying to make friends with such mundane people gives sends chills down his spine.
Ume narrowed her eyes ' 兄! Sticking to him all your life won't do you much good! Rei, tell him '
' We told Lei to cancel the plan of arriving early to make sure you two won't stick together in the compartments. He's arriving later. If you get in early, your compartment would most likely be full before Lei arrives. And in case you're being stubborn and decide to wait for Lei anyway, we rescheduled our math class from tomorrow to today. So, we need to leave in 5 minutes and 31 seconds and we were sure you'll refuse to look like a lonely fool waiting for someone alone so there was no need to add anything else.'
What Rei said, took a while for Hanako to process that he still kept that care-free smile he had on his face.
' Hmm~ ? Say what? '
' We told Lei-' Rei was interrupted by Hanako's palm a few inches from his face.
' I heard you the first time, darling, ~ ' his smile was still evident but there was something sickly sweet about how he said ' darling '. ' Mr. Ito, get my phone and text Lei to get his posh arse here as soon as possible. No need to explain his situation, tell him I found someone willing to trade his wand that has a unicorn hair core with Lei'
Mr. Ito shook his head. ' I agree with the young masters. Child, you did not even try to expand your social circle after meeting Lei. I think Hogwarts is a good opportunity for you to grow '
A few moments of silence allowed Hanako to organized his thoughts. Utterly pissed at his siblings for pulling this stunt right under his nose, even if it's for his personal growth. Despite it being out of their good will, it wasn't enough to dispel all his urges to spray them with pepper spray. He was already prone to bad moods with his parent's too busy to send their first child off to magic boarding school and he has to suffer coming here early and seeing all the perfect families around him hugging, kissing , crying and every other tiring emotional actions.
He looked at Mr. Ito, his grin widened as he petted his shorter siblings as if smacking them in the head like he wanted to was too _violent_. ' I will never forget this~ '
He meant it as : ' You all better move to another country when I get back, or so help me I will burn everything I find that holds value to you and I won't stop even when you start to beg ' but it seemed to have been misunderstood with the relaxed reactions he got in return.
Ume and Rei both ran to their brother and hugged him, with that every thought about burning their precious items flew away as he hugged back tightly. ' I'm sorry Dad and Mum can't make it. But please, promise to make friends, okay? ' he heard Ume mutter next to his ear, which he couldn't help but reply with,
' Of course '
And with that, Hanako made a regretful promise that stuck with him throughout the year.
