@Hanako Tone | @Jack Burnett |@Oonagh BrownTradition was extremely important throughout civilisation but none had clung so richly to those roots that the people of the Isle. They had adapted their own blend of culture from the vast array of students it drew in. It worshiped each and everyone of them in their own unique rights while staying true to its original heritage. The rumah adat was nothing if not symbolic of that very principle and those that stayed within them got to experience a living history of this ancient place.
However, unbeknownst to the peaceful dwellers of these magnificent structures the ground was beginning to birth something new. A corrupted root of soft, clinging vines that writhed in their dark inky horror. Something pulled from the depths of eldritch horror by Lovecraft himself, this plant wished to devour, wished to entangle and root itself into the very fibres of this place. So it curled itself around the foundations, curling eagerly up until it found open windows and unlocked doors. It moved knowingly with purpose, and as sun began to dawn on the new day it moved with haste eager to fester in the darker edges of these buildings were it could thrive. Where it could feed.
As it slithered its way in it would find its prey delightfully unaware. Roll: 7 Relishing in an easy meal the vines would worm there way about seeking out their target and as the smaller frames of four younger students came into view, the tendrils wormed up wrapping themself around legs and arms as they began to constrict tormentingly. Hanako and Jack, older boys well versed in the many dangers of these international visits would hear the young cries of Livia seconds before they became muffled and the thud of her body hit the floor as it dragged her closer towards the shadow and into its depths.Moderation Note: Avis, Livia, Sabrina and Oonagh are considered restrained and must succeed on a strength save to pry free or find another means of escape. Livia is currently restrained and does not have access to her voice as the vines have wrapped around her mouth.

Devil's Whisper
Oonagh was at the homestead, the interior had seem cozy despite the overgrown, unruly nature of its surrounding area. It was kind of off-putting in a way, though also just incredibly cool. So Oonagh had decided to keep her mind open for these unusual surroundings, however it had made her wonder how people usually fared in such a school long term. Would she find it cool then still? It was kind of like an overgrown playground with a lot of lurking dangers... well perhaps she would actually love the area, now that she gave it this extra amount of thought.
She had yet to make up her mind about her roommate situations, but that seemed to be especially because she had found herself stuck with Livia. What was it with Livia and her always being wherever Oonagh went? Was she a stalker of some kind? She seemed to act like she very much disliked the Scot, however they just kept. running. into each other...
Well despite all those thoughts and unsure feelings about this situation - like a very reasonable worry that Livia would strangle her in her sleep, which was surprisingly more likely to happen than the giant snake to strangle her - she had managed to find herself to fall easily asleep. Her broom had rested near her bed stand, because of course she had brought it to this new location. She had even made plans to take it for a flight through the island djungle the next day...
... well the next day was now, as she was rudely awoken when thick vines wrapped around her ankle and wormed around her wrists and up her arms, as she was tugged out of her bed - blanket and all and onto the wooden floor. Or what would have been the wooden floor, if it was not for the wriggling mess of vines that seemed to want to pull her under.
"Whit the f###?!"
The shout left her lips, as surprised morphed into horror and then anger as she automatically began to kick and struggle against whatever the hell this thing was. All the while cussing under her breath as she tried to pull her limbs free from the... plant thing?
At least she was not the only one who was affected by this troubling, messed up situation. She felt almost smug when she saw that Livia fared no better, no, actually, Livia was faring much worse. So perhaps she was feeling quite smug for a moment. The tendrils seemed to have shut her up, cutting off her screams.
"Le' me go, ye stupid, f###ing thing!" she yelped as she began thrashing against the vines' hold, what a stupid way to get woken up! "Whit a bloody forenuin..." she muttered under her breath, multiple strings of curses following as she tried to free herself. She hoped that snake had managed to slither away to safety... or had the snake sort of changed into this vine monster? It was kind of wriggly and moving like snake or worms, so perhaps the snake was more likely to kill her than Livia would. Well not if Oonagh had anything to say about it! She began to struggle even harder. against the vines.

Devil's Whisper
Jack jerked around as he heard Livia's voice get cut off abruptly, startled that he hadn't heard the large vines creeping up on them before they had grabbed the younger students. He had just been getting used to their surroundings and wondering if creatures like Lethifolds could be found in habitats like the one they found themselves in when he was caught off-guard by another student's outcry and turned toward the sound.
It was very dim, but what looked like tentacles or vines or tentacle vines appeared to have snaked out and wound themselves around the limbs and bodies of Jack and Hanako's underclassman. Jack immediately brought out his wand, not only because he needed it to create light to see, but because if his suspicions were correct, the thing that was collecting them was the plant called Devil's Snare. Sunlight was well-known to cause the plant to recoil, so Jack tried to calm himself with a deep breath and speak with a voice that was steadier than he felt.
"Stop struggling," he advised, hearing the profanities spouting from a Scottish student as she fought against the vines that wrapped around her. "I know it's hard, but it'll just make them wrap tighter around you. Try to relax." He supposed that was easy for him to say when he wasn't the one being bound up and he was sure it was just instinctive to try to break free, but if he was correct about the vines, they would likely be freed in a moment anyway. He just hoped he was right and his spell worked as he concentrated on the incantation, wand movement, and the intensity of the spell he was about to perform itself. "Lumos Solem!"

Livia had intended to participate in the international trip with optimism and bright eyes. However, their seaglass-green had dimmed notably after she was granted the sour-flavoured knowledge of Oonagh Brown's existence in her homestead. Any hope Livia had held for a relaxing holiday full of multicultural enrichment had vanished like a coin down a city drain. The aggressive blonde girl would often be watched with narrowed eyes as Livia tried to ascertain why she had felt the need to follow her even here.
Given the fact that Livia was forced to share quarters with someone she did not trust to be around her, she did not sleep much. Every small rustle caused her to startle, to jolt, to awaken. Most of this, she had catalogued as subtle movements from the other students within the homestead – blankets adjusting after hefts of breath, perhaps, or otherwise soft snores. The logical answer was that sleep was of the essence; however, Livia, for her part, lay awake, her eyes open in slits, her breathing forced to be steadied.
She was quite aware of the intrusion into her personal space, given that she was impeccably awake, even if fatigued. She stilled, her breath catching in her throat as she attempted to peer at whatever had thought it permissible to touch her without warning. She began to sit up, to reach for it, to swat it away, only for her eyes to widen and her mouth to open in horror as the stark realisation approached her: this was not a person; this was hardly even a thing. Some magical plant, she tried to surmise, because without magic, a plant would not move. Any attempt to shove the vines off of her body was in vain; she stilled momentarily, trying to think of what she could do, but the vines only inched upwards. Unwilling to admit defeat, her muscles (although tiny) tightened, and she thrashed in near-silence. What she had not anticipated was that the vines would go for her mouth.
She would not, she could not admit vulnerability. It ran contrary to everything she had been taught, to the rules of her upbringing. A young lady does not yell. A young lady does not flail. A young lady does not cry. A young lady does not whimper. A young lady does not beg, does not plead, does not ask for help.
Her breaths came quicker, but far more shallowly, as she feebly twisted her head, attempting to angle her chin away from the vines. It was of no use, and she huffed in agitation. A vine brushed against her lip, and her response was involuntary: 'Unhan –' d me...
Silence.
Roll. Rustle. Thud.
Skrzst, skrzt, skrzt –
A voice cut through the rustling – no, two voices. Livia's jaw set firmly upon hearing discourteous profanity from one who was certainly no other than Miss Brown. However, if her mouth hadn't been covered, she herself might have employed distasteful language to admonish this acrimonious assault. As it was, she went limp – struggling, as Burnett had duly said, would only cause further harm.

Devil's Whisper
Avis lay in bed, drifting in and out of consciousness, her dreams and reality flowed smoothly between each other until she couldn't tell them apart. She had fallen asleep around 5? 6? Honestly, that was quite impressive, considering she was eight hours ahead. If she were in Scotland it would have only been 9 at night. Regardless, Avis was running on less than 2 hours of restless sleep. And now she was being rudely awakened at some ungodly hour by some irritating tugging at her ankles, of which her minds took into her dreams as large pieces of hay, winding themselves around her foot until her leg was a broom, and there was a cartoon witch and black cat hopping on the leg broom and...
Avis groaned as the hay wound its way higher and yanked her out of her bed. As her shoulder slammed against the ground, she jerked awake, only to squint into the chaos in front of her. Was this the dream? Had that been the dream? A freaking anaconda plant, suffocating her until she was dead enough to eat?
A groggy and sleep deprived Avis began to shake her head, trying to clear away what fog she could, and not having much progress. "Whit a bloody forenuin..." Wincing slightly at the vulgar language - honestly, what was with children? No 11 year old was swearing back in Harrow - Avis glanced over at the girl similarly trapped within the winding vines. Frick.
Was ONE decent field trip really to much to ask for? Without some plant trying to destroy her life???? Avis glanced down at the black spidery scar on her hand peeking through the vines. It was almost as large as the day she had gotten it. GAH. Screw all her hard work and progress. Avis was NEVER going on another field trip.
Frantically, she searched for Sabrina. Where was she where was she where was she. Avis was tired, exhausted, sleepy, and the overload of adrenaline coursing through her was sending her brain into shambles and she just wanted her friend. Or just some comforting voice. That was probably why she latched onto the voice that cut through the various Scottish-accented cursing.
"Stop struggling...I know it's hard, but it'll just make them wrap tighter around you. Try to relax." Oh thank holden. A smart, logical, reasonable older student. Someone who certainly knew what to do in this scenario. Avis followed his directions to a T, flopping limp into the plant, her adrenaline keeping her awake even as her body tried to force her into some much needed sleep.

DATE X
Rustic - no hot tub - and open holes aside, Hanako didn't have much of an issue with not being able to sleep. Not for a long while actually. Even if he had years of experiencing the tumble of falling off one's bed with ignorant bliss. It was comfortable - enough. At this moment, he was unaware there was already an extra blanket and pillow there as if someone had expected him to sleep. Oh well wahtever that was tomorrow's Hanako to mental gymnastic his way out of who could've put it there and why. He wouldn't continued to remain ignorant a little longer if not for the unwanted, annoying, yelling of children that made him question why he's trying to be nicer this year. He groaned, trying to sit up from the floor and rubbing his eyes before needing to sheild them from the light that was likely incoming from Jack's wand, judging from the incantation. He yawned, standing up, squitning his eyes at the scene that he was witnessing. " Oh see, I knew we shouldn't have picked this place…" he mumbled, grumbling under his breathe as he patted his bedside table for his wand, clearly more disastisfied his sleep was interrupted. Too sleepy to consider the potential grave danger.
He heard Jack trying to tell the kids to calm down, implying it might be Devil's Snare, Hanako assumed. Or a unique breed of it that rested under these parts of the school. " Oh please… look at the thing - she'll be likelier to curse back at you for telling her what to do than calm down" he said before looking at the chaos. " Petrificus Totalus " , He'd said trying to aim at the rowdy , noisy , annoying , screeching , girl. (Oonagh)
He wasn't sure if he was awake enough to cast a spell, let alone one he only sometimes had trouble with. Or if Jack's possible blinding light caused him to lose focus. At least he could blame it on Jack's spell if he failed.
With that in mind, he was starting to wake up just a tad bit, frowning at the gross tendrils that had swarmed in their homestead. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww. This wasn't a sight he'd like to wake up to. He narrowed his eyes at the gross vines, capturing the gross kids. Perhaps Hanako's decision to be good this year was good karma for him if he wasn't in their position. Something wasn't sitting right with Hanako. Apart from his beauty sleep being interrupted.
" Those things.. came from somewhere didn't they..?" He mumbled under his breath, thinking out loud soft enough to be heard by anyone that cared enough. Or weren't distracted by the vines, he supposed. " Where…" It didn't make sense for a homestead to be so close to a potentially dangerous plant like this. Unless this was the norm Tenusa students were taught to be aware off and was too inconsiderate to inform the visitors.
Jesus, what did he know. He's going to get eye bags from this, that's worse. At least the other few seems to have the smarts to follow instructions. As expected from kids Hanako actually liked. The gossipey junior duellist who likes his tea, the sarcastic funny little stoic eagle, and ... that other high strung one that Hanako was still deciding on liking or not. Devil's Whisper
Making a comfy nest out of the various pillows and blankets she had claimed as her's along with the bed she was now kneeling on, the small raven expected to lay in it without a blink of sleep tonight. After all, she hasn't gotten much of it in the days leading up to this field trip, her nights spend calculating probabilities and possible moves as if she was playing 4d chess. And so, blanket draped around her shoulders and a randomly picked book open in her lap, she was ready to drown those thoughts out with whatever story or knowladge laying within the yellowish pages. Despite the forming pattern of sleepless nights, the mental attack she was bracing for never came, sleep claiming her before she got through the first pages of what showed to be a book on exotic plants - how ironic of a selection.
Be it because of her recent nightly activities, the major time difference or just the slight comfort of their arrival day not being a complete disaster, Sabrina didn't wake once before the crack of dawn, when her dreamland incaptured mind registered a disturbance within her personal space. Distantly, she began to acknowledge a strange slithering slickness wrapping around her right ankle and continuing up her leg. With a clearer mind, she could've thought of the snake residing within their homestead, but with her brain still glazed over by the haziness of light sleep, the girl acted on pure instinct only, feet kicking out to shake whatever it was that bounded it - or at least it would, if it weren’t for the previously mentioned vine shackles tightening around it. Murrmuring in protest and confusion, the witch would soon find that all her limbs have been circled by an unknown vine-like creature (?), her squinting eyes finally fully snapping open as she fully processed the fact.
"Oh fiddle-" she shrieked, momentarily joining the chorus of curses already sounding through the cabin. Although uncomfortable and definitely not her chosen way to wake up, after the initial shock she had to admit that the situation was also somewhat exciting. She liked Herbology, and even though these vines were attacking her, they were still fascinating, plus, she didnt feel all that threatened as her wand lay nearby - she had used it for light when reading yesterday, surely it must've been close - and there were other people around that could help like the older boys or the firebolt girl or her friend- wait- her friend.
"Avis!" she continued in her exclamations, now with certain fear in her voice - not for herself, although an observer could assume otherwise - eyes darting in the direction she had remembered seeing her friend last. Where was she? Was she okay? Why wasn't she saying - or attempting to say - anything?? After an unsuccessful attempted at sitting up, Sabrina closed her eyes, brows drawn together as she tried to think. Just. Think. Trashing and fighting didn't seem to help, if anything, it seemed to worsen her situation - didn't they learn of a plant like that? One that answered to force by force - could it be..
"Stop struggling. I know it's hard, but it'll just make them wrap tighter around you. Try to relax."
It could! Or at least if the boy was correct, which she supposed he had a high chance of being since he was older and an animagus - surely that must make him at least decently knowladgeble, right? Following his advice she tried to relax her body as much as possible all the while plans of possible next steps already playing out behind her closed eyelids.

Devil's Whisper
MODERATION@Oonagh Brown was by far the type to mince her words, so as the devilish tendril caught on to her it wasn't long before the insults started slinging much to the irritation of her compatriots. As she resisted against the plant its's grip upon her came loose and she felt herself stumble backwards releasing herself from its vile black grip that seemed to leave her with rope burn like marks. Still she had managed to escape for the time being, much unlike the of the homestead who's nightmares were only just beginning. Though the young Scot would apparently face other enemies, or so her foul mouth would no doubt reason, as the older boy across from her was intent on blinding her with sunlight.
Aiming at the twisted vine @Jack Burnett had only the best intentions and while Oonagh would manage to avoid the blinding glow of the spell the vicious plant variant only grew irritated by its burning sting. Shrivelling back slightly Jack would see a large black scorch mark where he had illuminated, the very light and heat of the sun illuminating the cabin around them. Yet while he had managed to cut off one limb, like a hydra it grew more, thicker, hungrier. To further double the blow, Burnett's advice would only lead the trio of young ensnared witches to more danger. After all, this was no normal devil's snare.
Sprawled out across the floor or on bedding the three young witches @Livia Machavariani , @Avis Marlong, and @Sabrina Lyons carefully headed the advice of an older, surely wiser student. While they initially resisted only leading to tighter restraints, the trio began to still going dead in the plants grip. While typically this would be the perfect escape for the traditional magical plant. Death was not its purpose in their room, and thus the constriction was only to ease in its real goal. Thus as the three girl's bodies stilled, they would begin to feel themselves shunted backwards, towards the edge of the high house balcony being dragged with the entity elsewhere.
Elsewhere in the room @Hanako Tone would watch in horror as the girls began to get pulled towards the edge of the homestead knowing the sheer drop that came below it. In his heart he knew they shouldn't have chosen this place but even after suffering so many years of failed balls and excursions he wanted to believe that things would be different. Still he was quick to try to help as best he could yet whether he was simply fatigued from the lack of sound sleep or too caught up in the familiarity of being in danger again he failed to conjure it. Ever the perfectionist he managed to dodge the spell hitting himself but a vision flashed in his mind of his petrified form falling static and being dragged by this dark storm of vine.
If the girls were going to be saved, they were going to require ideas, and fast!

It definitely just so happened that Hanako casted his spell a little after Jack had casted his. The result of his failed spell was definitely not on him, but the blinding light that had an effect on him as much as it did on the vines. Last minute screwing up the incantation, but adjusting the wand movement barely with practiced damange control so he wouldn't have it backfire in his face. But the failed spell was perhaps a blessing in disguise. The vision that came out of nowhere woke him up immediately with a jolt. What was that? Was he just still half awake or had he just vividly imagined stillness being the reason he'd been taken. Or would've. " Opps" he shrugged nonchalantly as he saw the kid he was tryign to save, managed to save herself. Stepping closer behind Jack with a slight grimace as if expecting the other to attack him like a wild animal. A quidditch brat, being more threatening than vines. How funny.
With the light Jack provided, Hanako's eyes narrowed at the marks on Oonaghs skin after they were released. Likely thanks to the briliant sun beanms from Jack's spell, he could vaguely see from afar that something was on Oonaghs skin.
(Jack)
He rapidly patted Jack's shoulder from behind, perhaps even a little harsly. Like it was of utmost importance that Jack paid attention to him instead of the girls he had attempted to save. " Hey hey - check it out. Those aren't normal. Whats that? " He felt like clarifying he meant the marks arent normal and not the wild girl, but he decided against it. His brows furrowed, each recall of information making him unintentioanlly dig his fingers slowly in Jack's shoulder. " Vines… light that doesn't stop them… attacking while they were asleep…might've had me if I fucked up the spell more… damn if its not Devil's Snare it's..."
Oh…..
" Jack! " He shaked his shoulders. " Jack we might've learned this in 2nd year! Herbology?! Terantula- Teran - Tequila - Whatever! Just think of this as dueling! Diffindo! 3 targets, you take two, I take one. " he smacked Jack's shoulder as good luck before moving to his side like they were on a duelist piste. " …. I really hope I'm wrong" he sighed, before moving his head towards Oonagh.
( Oonagh, Livia, Avis and Sabrina )
"And you! Dont even think about being useless! Wrestle the plants of something, just dont EVER stand still. YOU HEAR THAT?!" He tried to yell at the still trapped students though it felt like his heart dropped in his stomatch seeing how far they were getting. " IGNORE US EARLIER, START DANCING BEFORE I THINK ABOUT MAKING YOU! TARANTALLEGRA IS A LOOOOTT MORE EASIER THAN PETRIFICUS!"
He was a lot better at making people angry at him than making them follow orders.

Effect: Parselmouths have an advantage against serpent threats if they encounter one in an event, this would be represented as two rolls to avoid an attack with the best of the two rolls by the Parselmouth being the one used.
Effect: The Parselmouth gains +1 accuracy, +1 critical success range and +10% damage done with any curses they cast.
Wand MakerReducioRougarou Hair Core Effect:
• 10% of the damage done by a "dark" spell is done to a target that was successfully hit by a dark spell every round for the duration of the thread. This is considered to be "bleeding" and can be countered with the bandaging charm.
• In Duelling: This bleeding effect is limited to 4 rounds. If hit by another dark spell in the meantime, the bleeding effect is replaced with the new one.
• On a critical success with a "dark" spell, a second target (only if defined by the caster before this has been rolled) can be targeted, if no secondary target is declared then nothing happens.
• -10% damage done with non-dark spells.

Devil's Whisper
Although quite unafraid, considering the circumstances, Livia knew deep down that simply going limp would not solve her problems for her. She was quite lacking in delusion in this regard. However, it remained a certainty that the wiry youth, who had always been better suited to nimble endeavours such as dodging obstacles, would not find her strength in brute force.
She lay there, assuming the older students would take action, and, of course, she was mistaken. One of the older students cast Lumos, and another cast Petrificus Totalus, except, according to his ramblings, which identified him as Hanako, he had horrifically failed it. Even bound, Livia fought the urge to roll her eyes in disdain. A senior duellist, of all people, oughtn't have failed a spell that Livia herself could cast with relative ease.
She huffed when he mentioned tequila. Most certainly, the plant that had her in its grip was no alcoholic beverage. Its scent lacked the decisive tang of ethanol. The thought of the flammable substance did bring an idea to the forefront of her mind; however, with her manner of speaking sealed off, she was unable to articulate her thoughts, and instead writhed within the plant's grasp, finally growing too annoyed to remain still any longer. The texture of this despicable thing was simply irreverent.
Although Livia would not attempt to force her way free, she would hope that her squirming could save her should the three who were freed be too brutish and ignorant to formulate a plan.
Action: attempt to slip free (i.e. by moving so much she can loosen the plant's grip)
