The Harder We Fall
| Continuation of this Thread |
Percival held on for dear life as he did his best to maneuver around the person who had so graciously caught him. He turned his head to the left as a second bludger came straight for him. The heavy ball of iron slammed straight into his chest sending him straight off Whitethorn's broom. It seemed almost cruel of Lady Luck to take away the hope he had at staying in this game. Though, he highly doubted she hardly cared. The feeling of free-falling encompassed his very senses as he plummeted towards the earthy ground. As the boy lost consciousness, he began to wonder if he too would suffer the same fate of his poor broom. That now lay in splinters amongst the mud and muck.
He wasn't too sure what had happened everything was dark about him. A part of him wondered if he were still falling towards the Earth. It seemed that he was correct as his heart dropped low into his stomach as he jerked suddenly back to consciousness. The boy blinked up at the white stoned ceiling of the Hospital Wing. Something that he had not seen in quite a while. The last time was when he had accidentally shoved Ileen down the staircase.
Percival blinked numbly for a second before slowly sitting up. His chest ached sharply and he was quite certain he knew what had been the cause of it. Out of all the Quidditch games he had been able to participate in, this was the first one he had been so thoroughly destroyed. Embarrassment and annoyance tinted his cheeks slightly red as he realized he had not only been knocked off his broom once but twice back to back. His now broken broom did not calm the heat deep in his chest. He himself had watched the sturdy broom break to smithereens while all he could do was sit there and watch. It irked him how powerless he had ended up being. Unable to do anything as he was tossed about like some toy. Nothing could truly help his now bruised ego. Except, maybe hiding in his dorm for all of eternity.

The Harder We Fall

[font=PT Sans]Why did wizards love Quidditch so much? It was brutal. While Hana’s overly large sunglasses hindered his vision during the earlier match, the fall Percival had to endure was as bright as day, as well as the utter humiliation. Percival’s humiliation, of course. Not Hana’s. Far from humiliation, Hana felt an emotional concoction of relief and worry.
Somehow the concept of losing never fit well with the blonde boy. Hanako liked to link him to words like, ‘Nike’. In shimmering gold, stand tall and win. Greek goddess of Victory. Hana could totally see him rocking those golden sandals. Alas, he is no mythical being. Percival was just an unbelievably attractive 3rd-year human Slytherin that got a good whack. Probably facing some internal turmoil at this very moment while Hana ransacked his part of the room.
Win or lose, mythical or not, Percy was still one attractive boy. These past few months, the both of them just had some excuse or another not to hang out as much as they did in their prior years. The very few instances the two did get to see each other, it wasn’t much different than Hana’s relationship with the other Severus Snape dorm members. It seemed like while they sewed a torn patch in their relationship last year, there was a constant invisible entity that continued to pull the newly-sewn patch apart.
That invisible entity could be life. They grew older, they had their own respective sports, their own new crowd, new priorities. However busy they may be, their care for each other never ceased. At the very least, Hana’s care didn’t waver. He dared to say that the time apart might’ve made it grow stronger. Which is why before Hanako decided to arrive at the Hospital Wing, he was searching for something that could take up his attention. And to calm the slight nervousness which existed he refused to acknowledge.
Origami papers.
It was quite a big fall for Percival. Who's to say he wouldn’t pass out from it? If not from the excruciating physical pain, it could be his shattered ego. Hana knows both were very pass-out worthy. And who's to say Hana’s eyes won't linger on that greek god like face of Percival Rainwood? Not was it a face he hasn’t been able to see properly in a while, but -as mentioned before- it was a piece of art to look at. As Hana was a both a gentleman and an appreciator of arts, he concluded that it could be downright creepy to stare at the face of someone that just passed out, but he also can’t be confident that he wouldn't do it anyway. Thus, the origami papers will come to the rescue.
On the way to the Hospital Wing, he encountered another distraction. With a sneaky smile and a quick glance around, he kneeled on the group to be closer to the small reptile. “ Fancy seeing you here, Cu Sith. Having a nice walk?”
“Cute!” the baby snake nodded enthusiastically.
“ That’s nice to hear. Up for another trip? I promise this one is much more entertaining than just slithering around the grounds. There's someone cute waiting for you on this trip~. What do you say?”
“CUTEEE” the ever innocent snake hissed with delight, eagerly coiling her body around Hanako’s extended hand.
“ Lovely~” Hanako stood up with slight difficulty bringing both the paper origami and paperweight alongside Cu Sith. Eventually, his balance became steady and he continued his way to the Hospital Wing, feeling no guilt for kinda-technically-lying about the cute kid waiting for Cu Sith. She could forgive him for this, right?
-after his short adventures in the Severus Snape dorm-
He wasn’t a frequent visitor of the Hospital Wing. It was too dreary and sad to be in. Being someone who lacked basic pain tolerance, there wasn’t a day where he had to spend a few hours of his days to be cooped up in here. Hurrah! But being unfamiliar with the place didn’t give him the luxury of knowing what to do once he arrived.
If Percival wasn’t preoccupied with soothing his shattered ego, he would be able to see Hana between the large double doorway of the room, looking around rather worriedly with a spark of curiosity. Like a wanderer that stumbled onto familiar territory. It’s crazy that he was a 3rd-year student and still couldn’t get used to the Hospital Wing. Once he was satisfied that there wasn't any danger, Hana managed to effortlessly pinpoint Percival’s location. Wasn’t that hard really. In this dreary room, there could only be one light that could grab Hana’s attention.
“ Well, I suppose my plan of you waking up to a few paper cranes isn’t going to happen anytime soon.” Hanako joked just as he arrived by Percival’s bedside. “ Actually, I think there’s still time for me to do that. How about I erase every memory I have since I waltzed in here and you can pretend to pass out for just a little while. Once you wake up -bam- I was never here but now you have 5 paper cranes next to you. I believe they’ll be better company than me to be honest. As you know I'm not the best with patients.” he laughed softly, not entirely joking about the last part.
As if reminded of something, Hanako once again looked around the room before pulling his slytherin school robes closer. From what he recalled, there weren't any rules about no pets. That seemed more like an unwritten rule, though. But c’mon snakes aren’t the devil’s reincarnation unlike some other creatures such as Cats. Has anyone ever heard of cases for snake allergy? Not as common as cat allergy, that’s for sure. Being confident that he could argue with anyone who defies Cu Sith’s rights to be here, he continued.
“ Actually, apart from me and paper cranes, there's someone else that wanted to visit you~” After putting down the origami paper on the bedside table, Hana gently extended his hand towards the side of Percivals bed.
With the silent understanding between the Parselmouth and the snake, Cu Sith slithered away from his hand, gracefully landing on Percival’s side. She then locked eyes with Percival and gave him a loud hiss that immediately softened. Hanako-who looked rather guilty- would be the next one she locked eyes with. He received another soft hiss to which he responded with; “ aww see look how happy she is to see you”.

[font=PT Sans]THE LIES. THE BETRAYAL. THE AUDACITY. What on earth would be the point of speaking to snakes, when all you say is lies, lies, and more lies? To be fair, she should’ve seen this coming. Her owner was not the most truthful. But she was appalled that she could ever be one of the victims of his deception. Was he daft? Were her screams of terror when she first met Rainwood not enough to show her distaste towards him?
HE WAS HIDEOUS. Not as hideous as others, but hideous nonetheless. Upon seeing his face as she descended from Hana’s hand, she screamed. Like, she literally screamed. But she was a smart snake. She knew this was not the time nor place to hiss loudly. And was it really Percival that should receive the fury of her wraith?
She turned to Hana, uttering cute hisses he would translate to be; “ not …..cute”. She had no expression, but she knew her owner was smart enough to know just which expression she would wear if she was physically capable of doing so.
Reducio
Knowing what he intended, she turned back to Percival with a gentle hiss, “ notcutenotcute”. But yet she slithered closer to him anyway. By the guilty look Hana gave her, she knew she would be compensated greatly for battling the urge to blind herself. She would endure being within 5 ft of this sad excuse of a lovely creature named Percival Rainwood. He may be unworthy of her presence, but even more unworthy to be a topic of argument between Hana and her.

The Harder We Fall
Percival rubbed at his arm absentmindedly as he stared off into the distance. His mind continued to wander to the previous events, and he began to wonder if there could have been anything he could have done differently. If only he had paid more attention to that drasted beater...if only he had seen the bludger whizzing towards his chest. The boy sighed before sitting himself up slowly in the bed. It would do him no good to sit in the what-ifs of this failed game of theirs.
The boy glanced towards the door of the Hospital Wing as he heard the door open. His eyes widened slightly with surprise as he saw Hanako walk into the Hospital Wing. Percival managed a small smile at the boy's joke as he watched the other walk towards him. "I do apologize for not waking up at a later time. I have been only awake for a little while." he said in answer to the other's joke. "Even so I wouldn't mind if you still produced a crane or two. Though, I don't think either of us knows how to alter memories. So you are slightly out of luck Hana. he said in a bemused tone.
Percival's eyes widened with excitement and wonder as he watched the small snake that was deposited next to him. "You brought Cu Sith?" he said a grin growing across his face. The boy was not disturbed by her rather loud hiss. Owning a snake himself, who also disliked him immensely, had made him paying no mind to the snake's hissing. "Thank you Hana I really appreciate it." he hummed out as she moved towards him. The boy's mood felt as if it had instantly improved at the sight of the cute snake in front of him. Percival always had a soft spot for snakes, and Hanako's snake was no different. It had always brought a sense of wonder to him at how trained the snake was. Though, Pom was practically the same way so it was not too weird. "Hey Hana how did you train Cu Sith? Bas Asmodeus has gotten into the habit of trying to bite my hand off anytime I come near him." he asked as he remembered how his snake had tried to take off a finger last break he had been home.

The Harder We Fall
Ileen had never been interested in Quidditch. Just another sport to turn those brutal heathens against each other and cause unnecessary injuries. If she had known that Hanako and she had something in common here, she would have pulled her hair out.
However, the young Slytherin had not seen how Percival had been knocked down from the broom and sent to dreamland by a bludger. No, she was just here to pick up the pieces and place them back together.
In general she loved helping and mostly learning in the Hospital Wing, but with this boy she had been even more happy to help. After all, it was Percival Rainwood who had saved her life in the dungeons. She was attached to him by fate. So it seemed only fitting that she had helped fix him up.
Healing, especially when it came to people she actually respected, was something that gave her strength and energy. She always felt light and fulfilled when she had a part in healing. So, when she walked to another sheltered area to take her notes, a smile was on her face.
She couldn’t wait for the expression on Percival’s face when she returned to his bed and she would be the first person he saw, here to help him and have his back. Although he was to blame for his own misery, since he followed the stupid path of a quidditch player…
With that expectation and image in her head she noted down what she had learned during the process, closed her book with a deep inhale and turned around to return to the fallen boy.
The smile dripped from her face like ice cream in the sun. He wasn’t alone anymore. Hanako was there and talking to him.
One second, Ileen hesitated. She never really had understood their dynamic. Hanako was a fun but mean boy she loved to tease but wouldn’t choose as her best friend. Percival was a hot headed boy. And they had secrets from each other. She knew because Hanako had tried to buy her silence. Of course, the girl never had told anyone.
The smile returned to her face in the form of a smirk. Now it was probably the right time to show Percival who really cared for him. Two people could play that game. This here was her territory.
Would she interrupt this intimate conversation? Gladly.
With a friendly smile on her face she walked over to the bed. “Hey, you are awake. Those injuries didn’t look too good. How are you feeling?” Her tone was soft and worried. She missed the snake for now.
Another glance towards Hanako, spiced up with another smirk. “Hey there. Are you here to finally get your head checked? About time, I would say.”
