Hufflepuff vs Slytherin

Sunday, 17th of October 2021
It was that time of year when the leaves turned orange, and the air had that crisp scent. Hogwarts would be decorating for Samhain, quidditch would be starting soon, an autumn ball would be taking place, but perhaps the most important of all events was Duelling. Slytherin had reigned supreme last year, securing even the summer crown-making them, as far as full tournaments were concerned, undefeated coming into the new year.
Unlike last year where the days the duellists were randomized this year the captains decided to shake it up making it easier for spectators to support their friends and their houses. Today would start with Hufflepuff vs Slytherin!
The Duelling Room was a large room, with long stages set up in the centre. Three pistes, in fact. Lines had been drawn on the ground to signify where the spectators should stand - a safe distance behind the referees and professors. This was primarily to keep them from being victims to a random stray spell that could have been misfired.
On the front door of the room and again on the wall, a large poster stuck up containing the timetable for duels for spectators wishing to view specific friends. There were two main slots the morning slot and the afternoon slot. Each timeslot had three games - two pairs per game. Some students opted to come for just one game; others chose to attend all of them. It was entirely up to the spectators.
There was an hour slot booked in, by which all three of the duels will definitely have ended. An hour break to tend to the wounded and reset before the next set of duellists stepped in.
Let the day two games begin.

Watching Match 3, Morning Slot
Rose came in the dueling club. She knew Henry was about to go on, and she was here. She hadn't physically been able to go to his duels last year to watch him because he was kind of... knocked out in the hospital wing. Rose rose up onto her tip-toes, scanning the crowd for Henry. She looked for him, but wasn't able to find him, being pushed around in the crowd by other students in the crowd trying to see. Rose murmured grumpily at them, wanting to get to Henry. Where was Henry? She saw him get up on the platform, and pushed through the crowd to get closer, forgetting being nice. She was just trying to get to her brother. She finally got to him, right as he was about to start the duel. He looked really cool, actually. He looked fierce with his wand in front of him and his stance set.
Rose looked over at his opponents. Hufflepuffs, she knew. Was that- Rose winced. Henry was dueling Alexa. Alexa Mackenzie, his girlfriend. She hoped he was okay. It would all work out right? And his partner was Bridget. Rose stifled an eye roll. Bridget was obnoxious. They had fought in the hall one day, and though it had been partially Rose's fault, she felt like Bridget had definitely been at fault, too.
"Henry!" She shouted, trying to catch his attention. She waved at him excitedly. Usually Rose wasn't comfortable in crowds, or comfortable saying things loudly, but she would do anything to wish Henry good luck and tell him that he could do it. She would push herself incredibly out of her comfort zone for him. She would do anything for him. She mustered up her courage and shouted against the roar of the crowd, "WHOOOOOO! YOU CAN DO IT HENRY!!! I BELIEVE IN YOU!!!" She said, giving him a thumbs up. If he made eye contact with her, he would see that her eyes said everything. She really believed in him. She was here for him. No matter what.
He was her brother.

There to support @Alexa Makenzie and the house of Hufflepuff. Open to interactions.

"Oh it's far too early," he heard a girl ahead of him mutter to no one in particular. Still, there she sat in the crowd to watch the Duelling Club matches, just as Simon was. He didn't think it was too early at all, he had been up. While most at this time on a Sunday morning were sometimes still asleep in their dorm in an attempt to make up for lack of sleep through the week, he was usually in the Library at this time, devoting some of his Sunday morning to the Lord. It was always a shame that Hogwarts didn't have some sort of Christian services or club, but he also didn't feel right about making one. Some people didn't favor that stuff so he'd keep it low. Much like being a dhampir.
That particular morning he had a couple friends that were competing but he was there for one in particular. The other important redhead in his life. He could see her prepping behind the way and didn't mean to distract her, but he did try and get her attention - rising from the seat when she became visible from where he was to wave and when he thought he saw her look his way, he blew her a kiss for good luck and then gave her a thumb's up sign.
Be kind to one another. (*iNPC is Miles Thatcher)

It is time of the year again. Another year, another Dueling Matches. As usual, Cash done their morning workout since Quidditch season will arrived soon. Once they had their breakfast and done catching up with their school assignments, Cash marched up towards the Duelling Club that located in fourth floor.
Once they arrived at the entrance of the Duelling Club, their green eyes scanned for today's matches. Toda the Cuban descendant will support their fellow third-year Henry Knight and their sister-like Starlee Kennedy. There is an hour between each match. Once Cash found which piste Starlee will take, they stood amongst the spectator.
This is Starlee's second duel and Cash hoping she at least become better this year. It is nerve-wracking seeing someone they care about fall unconscious but just like Quidditch, Dueling can be brutal sometimes. Cash heard the referee call the four pairs to take on the stage. Once Cash saw Starlee standing up in the piste, they will put both of their hands around their mouth to amplify their voice.
"WOOHOO STARLEE!!,"They begin their cheer. "YOU CAN DO IT. I BELIEVE IN YOU"Cash added. "GIVE 'EM HELL, ESTRELLA"The Cuban descendant concludes. Cash waited for the referee to give the go signal to both teams for today's duel to begin and nodded at Starlee as a way to show their support.
𝑀𝑜𝓇𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒮𝓁𝑜𝓉; 𝑀𝒶𝓉𝒸𝒽 𝟥
Another hour go by and it is time for Henry to take on the platform. Cash is always excited to see one of their good mates up on the piste. Cash never saw him played before but from their experience having that Dueling practice - training last month with Henry, the blue-eyed boy knows his stuff.
The green eyes had a doubt once that Dueling is not as popular as Quidditch but seeing how big and large the crowd circling the platform, Cash for once was glad that they are wrong about something. People keep pushing left and right and in the sea of spectators, it seems Cash was not the only one supporting the bookworm.
Cash faintly hears Rose Moon's voice uproar amongst the cheering crowd. The young Ironwoods never keep up whose Henry partner from one year into another but seeing he paired up with Bridget Collins makes this match more interesting. Cash knew that Bridget was a Quidditch player once and now, she is a Duelist.
Not only that, but she is also one of the Co-Captain for Viridian Vipers. As the referee makes a ga signal, the duels start. Spells fly left and right. Seeing Henry cast a weather modifying spell so elegantly, makes the young socialite smile ear to ear. Henry is brilliant. Not only that Bridget also cast Ventus so flawlessly.
Cash cheered alongside the spectator. "GO VIPERS!!"They shouted. Cash glances over the other side of the piste. They saw a person that Cash once met two years ago. If Alexa saw them, Cash would raise one of their hand and wave to Alexa, and shoot her a friendly smile.
𝒜𝒻𝓉𝑒𝓇𝓃𝑜𝑜𝓃 𝒮𝓁𝑜𝓉; 𝑀𝒶𝓉𝒸𝒽 𝟨
Watching two matches of dueling in one day was enough for them so Cash thought but they remembered that Tone will take on the platform this afternoon. Cash had seen Hanako in action before during that Chess Combat at Summer Camp and to say the least the green eyes intrigue with how he performs in the Dueling stage.
And so after Cash had done their lunch, they trotted back to Dueling Club once more. Tone's Dueling match will be the last match of the day. After finding a spot that was almost in front of the platform, Cash choose to stand almost at the edge of Slytherin's side of the spectator so they did not block whoever stood behind them.
In today's match, Hanako paired with Ileen and on the other side of the opposite stood Lucia with her partner. Cash watched the afternoon match not because they support Hanako. No. Cash and Hanako are far from being friends with each other. Once Cash stood where they stand, they could hear faint bickering between Ileen and Hanako.
It seems Ileen did not get along with Hanako or maybe vice versa. Cash did not know the nature of Ileen's and Hanako's relationship with each other. But it will be amusing to see Ileen frustrated over Hanako, and maybe Hanako will make a mistake that cost his team victory. Cash lived to see that happen.
The Cuban descendant then averted their eyes from the Vipers pair to Lucia. Their fellow Oxonian. With excitement coursing through their whole body, "GOOD LUCK, LUCE!!"They shouted and shot Lucia a wide smile.

Hufflepuff vs Slytherin

Morning slot 10:30 - 11:30 (2nd match)
[font=PT Sans]Like being awakened by crying infants at the dead of night, the mornings didn’t greet Hanako with much bliss. It usually never did, really. There was no solid reason for it other than the fact that he was lazy. But with good purpose, he manages to make his mornings a little less dull. Today’s purpose, watch 2 good friends duel each other to death (emotionally at least).
Starlee Kennedy and Martyna Romero. He would probably get dirty looks from them if they ever heard him call them his friends, actually. Just the kind of expression that fills him with joy. However much he’d love to yell at the top of his lungs to cheer them on (although mildly sarcastic), his relationship with the two girls had changed ever so slightly since he had met them. One worse than the other.
Starlee was now under the protective care of Parselmouth Cash Ironwoods. Meaning that Hana couldn’t mess with her anymore if he didn’t want to be faced with Ironwood's wrath. As if their last name didn’t already suggest their strength. Noodle arm Hana could not take such hits. Once was more than enough.
As for Martyna, their awkward train ride had been haunting him since. Just what do you do to people who might have been the daughter of the woman that destroyed your whole family? Watch her get whooshed, whacked, and flopped during her duel it seems. He’s here to support Slytherin anyway, so her loss wouldn’t be so bad. Gets his mind off other serious matters anyway. Just him, his 20/20 vision, and some obnoxious laughing.
Of course, he wasn’t that surprised when it wasn’t ‘just him’. “ Wowwww. I thought I heard an abominable screech earlier. So it was you~” Hana swiftly and shamelessly stood next to the one and only Cassandra Ironwoods with a lopsided smile on his face. “ Can’t say I’m surprised to see you here. Cheering for Little Twinkles down there? I mean, that’s what I remembered from the screaming. I'm curious, is it an innate talent to be able to scream to early in the morning?”.

Hufflepuff vs Slytherin
Interacting with @Santario Martin & @Willow Anderson
Mentioning @Lydia Cooper & @Sarah LightwoodMorning Slot 10:30 - 11:30 (1st Match)Quinn absolutely loved the mornings and the meaning behind what they meant. The start to a new day no matter how great or crappy, every day had a morning. Which meant there was always a chance to make things better no matter what, this sentiment brought him nothing but immense joy. That and the fact he was an early bird.
Towering closer but not quite to 10 feet now. Quinn stuck out like a neon pink sign in a forest. Making his way to the dueling area, he took his seat to spectate. He wanted to make sure he was there for the very first match. Afterall his former teammate Willow and another fellow Huffle were going up against one of his closest friends Santario Martin and a Slytherin he's never met before. Regardless he'd cheer for both even if not so secretly he wanted Santario to win.
When Santario had entered the field he almost immediately noticed something odd was up. She seemed a little off, but he ignored this at first. Choosing to cheer the two teams on. "Come on Sanrio! You got this Willow! Give us a right proper good show!!" He chuckled careful not to yell to loud. He was getting better at his volume control. He took notice of the happenings as the match progressed. So this is what dueling was like. While never personally as exciting for Quinn as Quidditch was he could respect the game. Along with the skill it took to perform in it at a great level. "Nice!!" He exclaimed at the most recent exchange especially from the spells flung by Willow and Lydia. "Great job you two!!"
He turned his attention back to Santario and his large, goofy smile fell. Santario didn't even return the earlier wave from Willow. Once again hyper-fixating, he noticed that she definitely seemed off. Something was not right, or at least that's what his gut foretold. When he was able to get a glimpse of her eyes even at his distance he could tell that something was wrong. Where was that fire, even her body language was off. She didn't seem as enthused. In fact her current demeanor echoed an earlier episode that Quinn had experienced over the previous Christmas break.
She was flinging the spells expertly, as he knew she practiced like a mad lass and yet there was something in her voice too. This caused Quinn to frown deeply. The more he looked at her. The more things he took notice of. The curses of people watching since he was a wee toddler. He picked up on a lot. Something was definitely off however, what it was he didn't know, but he would find out. "Come on Sanrio!! You guys got this! Keep it up!!" He exclaimed trying to smile again and show off more of his warmth. "You too Willow, keep up the good work you guys!!"

Hufflepuff vs Slytherin
Thomas Lestrange has only just returned to the castle today, having arrived from Hogsmeade this morning. Hurriedly unpacking his items in the Salazar dorm, grateful for the absence of Dmitri’s likely snide remarks about his return. Knowing the boy was gathered with his fellow duelists in preparation of the match (assumption, correct if wrong).
Thomas’ arrival was just in time to catch the first match of the day, having his closest friend Santario facing off against a pair of Hufflepuffs. Both he would recognize from the ice hockey exhibition last Winter. The little to Thomas’ big bummer, apparently in any surface… ice, pool, you name it. Seeing the prefect badge pinned on her robes again left Thomas curious if her prefect bathroom experience was the incident that warranted departure. And now that Thomas is no longer a prefect, her return.
Though his mind would not be left to linger on Anderson, the sapphire eyes drew his gaze across the duelling stage. Santario Martin held an urgency upon her visage, the turmoil she was placed most evident Thomas, who could often detect her mentality with a reflective glance. Was his return too late? For both of their sakes, the boy would dismiss the hopelessness that came with the visual of his friend. Offering her a short nod of encouragement. I’m not leaving you.

Mentioning @Willow AndersonMorning Slot 10:30 - 11:30 (1st Match)In the corner of Quinn's vision he thought he vaguely recognized someone who had come and taken a spot near the stage. He didn't pay attention at first, but his curiosity always the pest it was wouldn't stop nagging him so much as the duel progressed.
He finally caved and looked. He did recognize the lad after some moments. Thomas Le...something...Lestrange! There it was, that was his name. He was rather pleased with himself for remembering after such a time. Given the current events he decided to make his presence known. He moved a little closer to where Thomas was and made some space to kneel so as not to totally obstruct other's view.
He looked down to Thomas. "Fancy seein ya here, Thomas right? Been awhile." He warmly said, he was going to continue but then his attention was quickly grabbed by what happened next. Turning his attention and listening multiple voices in various tones all said one word near-simultaneously.
'Oh.'
He immediately frowned, this wasn't like the Santario he knew. Granted he missed a lot of things, but he always tried to catch up with her. Keeping up with the knowings and happenings in her life. But this, something was definitely off, she didn't look like herself and she definitely wasn't acting like herself. "What's going on San..." Worry filled his voice as he spoke the words softly.
It caused his expression to suddenly and visibly darken. There was clear concern but also something else below it. Fear? But at what? He whispered something unintelligible before looking to Thomas. He was well aware of the lad despite having met him little. He was good people from what San had mentioned of him. So he could be trusted in Quinn's eyes.
"Does something about Sanrio, seem off to you?" He kept his frown and spoke politely to him voice soft but deep. "I don't like it this doesn't seem like her." He made sure to cheer on both Willow and Lydia especially. "Show em our huffle pride Lydia!" He exclaimed in encouragement.

Santario met Thomas’ eyes without the affable warmth he was accustomed. The sapphire hues plagued with trepidation, as if his presence threatened her ability to win. Locking eyes with a tilt of his noggin, addled. What gives.
As the duel carried on, the boy’s involuntary shoulder graze with the broad Quinn Healy initiated a long overdue conversation. Thomas Lestrange fortunate he did not have access to the boy’s mind, seemingly having avoided some of his snide comments about Quinn in past headliner articles on Quidditch.
Turning his head to see the boy’s chest, his eyes slowly creeped up to find his head. The imposing figure more than enough to leave Thomas wary of any bold remarks.
The half-giant’s friendly demeanor would only supply a peaceful Lestrange, even if notes of agitation would creep upon his tongue as he spoke. ”Good question. A competitive fire.” He shrugged, his visage typically void of any emotion.
Yes, something was surely wrong with Santario. Evidenced by her letter and general demeanor. Though Quinn was not the appropriate recipient of the boy’s thoughts on the matter. Especially when the half-giant transitioned to chants for his fellow puffs, leaving Thomas to glance over with his peripherals.
”She sure showed them, huh?” Thomas noted Lydia’s descent, out cold from a combination of flipendoes that left a heavy thud on the dueler’s platform. ”So, Quinn. How are things with Nico… Quidditch? I’ve always wondered, how exactly do you uhm…well, do you have a specialized broom? You’re not exactly built for the regulation size, are you?” A not so graceful segue, though he wasn’t doing any worse than Erin would.

There was much trepidation within him when deciding to venture back to the dueling club to watch a match that was taking place. A loathing filled him when he thought about his brief stint with the club itself, after only one match, he had been kicked off the team for attacking his own incompetent teammate. Zykeal had no time for nonsense and hated the fact that the competition was a team event, hell, he couldn't even pick his partner and had no chemistry whatsoever with the person.
It'd been a while now though and he was curious to see how the development of the club had progressed. Dawning his typical black-on-black attire, showing no signs of being a 'Gryffindor' in general, he made his way through the crowd that watched the spectacle that was ongoing. The boy had arrived late, mid to late match and he stepped towards the spectating area where he could watch the match he was curious in. Recognizing that all four of the combatants were amongst his year, he actually knew them, more of acquaintances of course as he had very few true friends.
Those golden hues of his shifted from each of the duelists and watched as the two Slytherins focused their efforts to combine a nasty-looking knockback jinx focusing into the girl, Lydia, to which he had met before. A little smirk played across his face as he watched the girl crumple, it wasn't as if he wanted to see her in pain, but this was the exact flaw in these types of competitions; how was a 3rd-year student able to properly defend themselves against two opponents? It made no sense to him.
Curiously, Lydia's teammate, Willow, decided to start ranting to some 'Gods' or whatever. What an absurd thing to do in the middle of the match, he thought, and couldn't help but let out a few choice softly spoken words, "What an idiot..." he whispered out. Instead of focusing his attention on the nutcase, he focused upon the set of girls at the opposite side of the arena and his smirk shifted into a soft smile as he recognized both the figures there. Though he hadn't had much interaction with either, he could happily say that he hadn't had any negative interactions with them.
A small nod of approval was given to the girls, they worked well together, he supposed. A noise barked out to stop the match for a moment and he let his gaze linger for a moment on the duo before glancing towards the tedious voice of the Beckett girl, "Gods, who let that psycho officiate a match..." he said, a chuff of a laugh following those harsh words. San went on a slight rant then, it wasn't something he was interested in listening to much as it became clear that it was a personal one towards Beckett, but, he'd focus once more back to Sarah and see what her next action would be; her charms had improved over time it seemed.
