iNPC Applications and Trunk Updates Trial

The iNPC team wishes to bring the iNPC Application and Trunk Update process in line with the PC Index process. To determine if this is the best approach, or if there are modifications that should be made specifically for iNPC’s, we will run a trial of these changes for 3 months (ending at the end of March). At the end of the trial, we will determine if this process needs tweaking or adjusting based on the iNPC team’s experiences, and your feedback. During this trial period, we ask that if you have any feedback about the change in process, concerns, or questions, to please reach out to any of the iNPC team listed below:

What does this mean for iNPC Applications and Updates?

There are 3 main changes:

1. Modified application threads for each school

The application threads for each school have been updated. These threads are for first applying for your iNPC characters (iNPC Rules), and changing your sport, background, etc. Basically those things that you would usually post in the index or re-index application threads for your PC account, you should use the application threads to do for your iNPC character. When you apply for an iNPC on one of the application threads, an iNPC team member will review it within 2 weeks and either approve the application, request modifications or deny the application. Please do not delete the mod notes on your application.

The updates include adding a place for your encyclopedia link, and removing personality and appearance description requirements in the initial application form. For the update form, we have made it so that any content changes that have been requested should all be included in the content changes section rather than separated out by specific change.

2. New Trunk Update thread

We’ve also created a separate thread for Trunk updates and ability applications. If you are looking to update your iNPC’s stats or apply for a new ability, you should post in that thread.

If you have any questions about which thread you need to post in, please reach out to any of the team members listed above. If it has been more than 2 weeks and your application or trunk update request has not been reviewed by an iNPC team member, please reach out to Aiko Mori.

3. Members will be able to post their own Encyclopedia shortly

For this trial period, the Admin team are adjusting permissions in the iNPC forum to allow members to post their own encyclopedia’s and trunks. Prior to this, an admin or member of the iNPC team would have to create your iNPC’s encyclopedia and trunk posts once your application was approved. Please do not post your iNPC encyclopedia and trunk until you are ready to apply for your iNPC character.

Keep in mind that iNPC trunks must follow the PC Trunk rules, which you can find here. If an application and encyclopedia is created before you have been on your PC account for 6 months, the encyclopedia and application will be sent to you via owl, and the posts will be deleted. You are then free to repost the encyclopedia and application once the 6 months has passed.

Will the changes be permanent?

At this time, we are just running a trial to determine if this is the best path forward. We will post at the end of the trial period to state whether these changes are permanent, are being removed or tweaked to better respond to any feedback received during the trial.

The iNPC team is very excited to bring you all a change that's been in the works for awhile now: starting Saturday February 1st, we will be allowing iNPC characters to transfer to other iNPC schools! This will allow players who made an iNPC when they were in the "beta" stage, with only a few schools available to play, as well as those whose character arcs would just benefit from a transfer to have an additional avenue for story enrichment. This change does not, however, allow iNPC to transfer to Hogwarts, nor does it allow PCs to transfer to iNPC schools. You can read more about the change and how to apply here.

Koldovstoretz Lore Clarification

It has recently come to the attention of the iNPC team that there was some confusion on the location of Koldovstoretz itself. Obviously it is in Russia, but where? We are pleased to announce a resolution to this confusion and have updated the lore as such. Koldovstoretz is located in and around Lake Bear, an Unplottable lake in central Russia near the Yenisei River. We apologise if its Unplottability, and the history of its move from Lake Onega to Lake Bear, made it difficult for people to realise where it was!

Koldovstoretz Event: Into the Underground

Koldovstoretz for decades has boasted an underground maze of classrooms and caverns, each with its own use, but many have gone abandoned as of late with plenty of antique dangers and treasures within, and Director Vorozheykin is not about to ruin his couture coats cleaning them out himself. And so, he is asking the students of Koldovstoretz... are you brave enough to tackle the underground unknowns?

If you have a registered and approved Koldovstoretz iNPC, you are welcome to join the Into the Underground event occurring May 1, 2025! Come explore the lost caverns of the Russian wizarding school, battling dangers and collecting the potential treasures that may lay within. You may even find yourself with a chance to discover and carve your name into the future lore of the conservatory...

Binding Mark Ability Available for iNPC's

The Binding Mark ability can now be taken by iNPC's and applied to or by iNPC's. To apply for this ability for your iNPC, please apply in the iNPC Trunk Updates thread!

Note: Binding Mark cannot be applied to or by dNPC's only iNPC's or PC's. For an explanation on the difference between dNPC's and iNPC's, visit the NPC Rules.

New iNPC Character Creation is Temporarily CLOSED

We have temporarily closed new iNPC character creation as we begin the iNPC Transition Project, which involves giving existing iNPCs their own accounts.

This pause is intentional to allow the transition to proceed at a manageable pace and to give us time to refine the process before opening it to additional characters. Our focus right now is on supporting the initial group of transitions and ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Thank you for your patience and understanding! Further announcements will be made when new iNPC creation is reopened.

Minor Change to iNPC Creation

We are continuing to work on iNPC accounts. We have tested various staff accounts, broke a few and determined what works and what does not. Over the next few hours your application will likely be accepted and you will be able to make an iNPC account.

While determining what worked and what did not, we did discover that we needed to change the application process so that certain permissions and modules are not given out of order (unless we -wanted- to break you account).

The changes are as follows:

2. In your iNPC character's bio, we only need you to provide us with the following information as well as 220 words overall. The word count is what pulls your account into our queue. We are not particularly worried about the content since we are only approving existing iNPCs at this time, this is more a formality. The part we really need is a statement on the top or bottom of your bio area that tells us.

That is because we need to give you your items and permissions AFTER you have been sorted, otherwise your account may be locked. This data above will provide us with the demographic data we need for your character as well as your potion and spells that we need to give your character.

Please note, it may take a few days to complete the process because multiple staff will need to process your account. Usergroups and demographic data is managed by admin and trunks as well we encyclopedia posts are managed by iNPC/validation staff. There may be some cross over, but the process can be time-consuming.
