Mahoutokoro NPC

This is a thread that is used to submit applications and updates for iNPCs of Mahoutokoro.
Restrictions to Creating an iNPC:You can find an up-to-date roster for this school here. If you notice anything that is inaccurate, reach out to the Headmaster of this school (Kotoka Sako)
- Mahoutokoro accepts students from Japan only, no other Asian countries. Although you can have a student that was born in another country, at the time of invitation to the school, your character must be living in Japan and have experienced their magic there.
- "After a child displays their first sign of magic and reaches the age of seven, they are invited to the school's day program - a chance to start their education before a time of boarding." Please remember this part of the lore when writing your character's backstory.
Eligibility requirements:
• You must have had your previous student and iNPC graduate.
• Your second student character must be Indexed.
• You must wait 3 months after your second character has been registered.
Proof requirement:
• You must provide a link to your approved second student character application from this thread. This will serve as a proof of having an approved second student character.
Note: The reduced wait time for a second iNPC character only applies to your first approved second student character. If you deactivate your second student character before they graduate, you will be required to wait 6 months for an iNPC associated with the new student character.
Registration for iNPCs:
Name: Nothing from the sacred 28. No plagiarizing names from other fandoms.
PC Name:
Year: Must be the same year or younger than your PC.
Link to your Character Page: The link to your iNPCs ency. If you haven't created one yet, please do so before registering.
Your iNPC ency follows the same rules as your PC ency.
Status: Muggleborn, Halfblood, Wizardborn, Pureblood
Residence: This should be the place your character currently lives.
Nationality: This should be the nation which your character belongs to.
History: We are looking for at least 200 words describing their history. This is their life, their family. Their upbringing. This is separate from their personality and their appearance. This is not their ambitions or aspirations, this is the story of their life and the story of their life being reduced to a mere few hundred words should not be able to give their life justice. We want a well-thought out character. Please remember, they do not have awesome special powers that nobody else has. Also, please remember that your background needs to make sense, we will not accept purebloods that were raised as muggles without a very good reason and a detailed explanation on how this happened and why this happened. Idle interest, the vague statement of normalcy or protection will not cut it.
First Magic: We do need a few sentences on their first magic as well. Remember, this will be your first instance of underaged, unintentional, wandless magic before you start school.
Is your character a Quidditch player/Broom racer/Duelist? This applies if you are any of the schools. Players with an already created NPC from can state that their iNPC is a quidditch player/Broom racer/Duelist. Your sport choice (broom racing, quidditch, dueling) for your NPC can be the same as your PC. This is a binary YES/NO. Please remember that you can only be in one sport as an iNPC.
Stats: They should add up to what you can have for your year if you were human or having Special Race/Talent. So if you create a Special Race/Talent iNPC, you should have 5 less stats in total than if you were human. Stat points from sports wins are NOT shared across accounts unless they were earned before 1 July 2025.
Special Race/Ability: To be accepted for a special ability such as Parselmouth or Seer or a special race (such as a Dhampir or part Goblin) you would need to apply for this on initial character creation. Please write minimum 500 words explaining how it fits your character, not why you want it.
If special race/ability, how did they join the school? If they are a first year from Sept 2024, they would be accepted normally. If they are not a first year, please include 50 words on how they transferred into the school or hid their abilities.

Mahoutokoro NPC
Name: Aryaan Shamsi
School: Mahoutokoro
Blood Status: Half-Blood
Year: 1st year
Appearance: Dark haired and dark-eyed, the boy has the barest glint with mischief in his eyes. A big smile that disarms, and an overly friendly manner are the most obvious things about him at first glance.

Personality: Loud and outgoing, Aryaan is very much the jock-to-be. His in-your-face personality makes him stand out among the generally calm and collected Japanese crowd. (I fully intend him to be a troublemaker)
A first-generation half-blood immigrant from India, Shamsi is somewhat caught between worlds. Between the Muggle and Wizarding world, between India and Japan, between his father's strict Islamic adherence and his mother's firm agnostic beliefs.
Growing up, this infinite tugging has left him without a sense of roots or heritage. He is not a Muslim or an agnostic. He is not Indian or Japanese. He is not a Muggle, nor a ‘pure’ wizard. He is, instead, a citizen of the world.
This philosophy has made exploration and exposure a critical part of his personality from an early age, and this was encouraged by his family. Go out, they would say and explore. Learn. And draw your conclusions of the world. And so he did.
Shamsi is the "jump first, think later" kind of guy; a man of action. Someone more interested in doing things, in being in the centre of the action. And having faith in his skills, in his luck, and in the universe to see him through any challenges thrown his way, taking both boon and bane in stride.
“If it is meant to be, it’s meant to be, and no amount of worrying will fix it. Might as well take it for what it is and move on.”
History:
Shamsi has spent a lot of his life on the move. Kolkata, Chittagong, Hong Kong and now here in Tokyo, Japan. He’s been here in Japan for four whole years, which is practically forever! He knows that this has something to do with his mother’s occupation – none of the other kids he’s met seems to move this much – he’s never really thought much on the specifics. Adults are boring, foreign creatures after all. Quiet respect and a wide berth are always best around, lest they stick you with chores or lectures!
His education before Mahoutokoro has been an erratic mix of Muggle school, and preparatory homeschooling, depending upon what was the most convenient and feasible at each place and each stage of his life, according to his parents. That was not to say that his education was lacking – he could already do the nine times table as was required by his teachers – but academics seemed like a chore, something that he had to do before he could go out and play or explore or have his little adventures.
Shamsi has made several friends in various parts of the world due to his penchant for trouble and innate curiosity. But they were just that – friends, people to have good times with when the alternative was the boring monotony of chores and life and television. Perhaps it is a testament to his personality that he has not kept in touch with the friends he’s made in prior places?

First Instance of Magic:
Sometime around the age of eight, he had been in the playground amusing himself with the latest toy that his mother had got him – a particularly bright yellow ball. Normally, he could amuse himself with a ball for hours on end.
On this particular day, his eyes caught upon another boy playing catch with his father. It made him draw his eyes to his own father – sitting on one of the benches, hiding behind a newspaper.
“Baba! Dad!” He called out to his father. “Baba, dekho! Look at me, Dad!”
The paper hardly moved. “Hae beta, bohut acche. Yes, very good my son.”
It made him feel….something. Something hot and deeply unpleasant welling up inside of him. And then, something inexplicable happened. His ball, which had been sitting innocently on the ground, went shooting off on its own accord, its target being his uncaring old man.
The ball struck his precious newspaper, none too hard. But it was enough to finally get his fathers attention.

iNPC Stats:
Ability: Evasive Maneuvers
With strict parents, one had to develop a keen sense of how to get out of trouble and stay there. Aryaan, of course, had to go and find a way to take this principle and dial it all the way up.
You could call it skill, or you could call it luck. Aryaan himself has a difficult time describing what it is that he does. Whatever it is, the 11-year-old has a penchant for knowing when and where there would be trouble, and then simply not being there. So keen was his ability that he has started to develop a bit of a reputation amongst those that know him: whenever the boy was nowhere to be found, surely one of his pranks had likely been found out and some adult would come along in search of the wayward troublemaker.
This skill of his did not limit itself to just his troublemaking antics but translated well into sports. When playing dodgeball in particular, bystanders could see the South Asian boy standing stock still, eyeing other players; his face screwed up with a look of intense concentration. Then, he would abruptly burst into motion, barely moving out of the way of some live ball; or catching another one. It was a nifty little trick, uncanny in its reliability but ultimately unremarkable. It would make him interesting to watch, but not a prodigy. Not someone who would stand out from the crowd.
But then, he started playing Quidditch and it all just clicked.
Suddenly, his sense of knowing where to move was just a curiosity, but a critical aspect of his play. He could zig-zag through Chaser formations without sacrificing his speed but disrupting their flight. He could zip around the pitch, Seeking the Snitch; dipping and dodging Bludgers and frustrating Beaters with almost laughable ease. He could sneak the Quaffle from a teammate and make a break for it without being tailed immediately.
People called his flying reckless, or short-sighted. People thought he’d get himself killed with his rash, erratic movements. People just did not understand. People could not see the way he saw, could not understand the way he understood.
Aryaan knew what he was doing, no matter what the opinion of those watching him.
When he was on a broom and in the air, he was King. He was Untouchable.

Aryaan was a lot of things, but no one could accuse him of being stupid. Well, they could, but they’d find themselves in the wrong end of a pranking war.Very nimble, you are harder to hit than average. Perhaps you even have a tingling sensation when danger is near. Whatever the case, you seem to get out of the way just in the nick of time more than everyone else.

PENDING - September 27th (edits due by October 18th)
History - The second half of your history section centres around Aryaan's personality, but we want this section to be dedicated to his history. We are looking for a summary of his first eleven years of life here, try to talk more about what he did rather than what he was like (you could move those parts to the personality section). For example, you can talk about: was he born and raised in Japan or moved there at a certain age? Did he go to muggle school before Mahoutokoro? Did he have a good relationship with his parents and enjoy what they did for work? Did he have friends and hobbies? You are also missing a first magic instance.
Evasive Maneuvers - we need you to write a full 400-word ability application to get this approved.
EDIT - October 2
History and First Instance of Magic has been fixed. Ability application complete.

PENDING - October 2nd (edits due by October 18th)
Your history/first magic need slight editing. According to your history, you've only been living in Japan since the age of 9. This means your first magic when you were 6 happened in a different country, but Mahoutokoro only accepts students whose first magic was in Japan. You'll need to either edit your age of first magic to be later (after 9) or change the age you moved to Japan (to before 6). Also of note is that your character probably would not have had magical education before Mahoutokoro considering they would go straight to Mahoutokoro's day school the year of/after their first magic.
EDIT 2
> Changed the age and duration of stay in Japan and increased the age of first magic to align with Mahoutokoro requirements.
> Added uniform colour.
> I had said he had magical preparatory education since he is somewhere 'between worlds' due to the chosen lifestyle of his parents. This was meant to make him familiar with common sights and ideas within the magical world as opposed to giving him a head start in magical education. Since he's been to the day school for over two years though, this clarification becomes moot. So I'll remove that bit from his background.
> Added specific location in Japan
> Word counts might be ~5 words off. MS Word and an online word counter giving me different counts
APPROVED - an iNPC page has been created, Quidditch preference noted but not yet guaranteed

Sana Ohashi
| |
|
Personality: Sana is an organized girl. She is careful about her studies and grades and can be very serious. However, there are times when she'll open up and laugh a bit, but only the right people can get her to do that. She is very polite, too, and uses her manners even with people her age. She knows that what she says matters.
History:
Sana was born in Japan to two strict parents. Her parents always encouraged her to be independent, and to earn what she wanted. In fact, she never got anything from just asking much as a child. Her parents want to her to be the best she could be, and expect her to work hard for her goals. They want her to do well in school, and she's determined to do just that. As a child, she lived in Japan, surrounded by very kind people. She's the oldest in her family out of 3 children.
Since Sana was a determined girl, she started reading early on in her life. Her parents watched as she read whatever she could get a hold of, but during her free time she read manga. When she was 5, she was waiting for her mother to come home. Her grandmother was at home with her, and she was very strict. Sana just wanted to play with her doll, but couldn't reach where her parents usually kept it safe.
She started to get annoyed, and the doll tumbled from the shelf. Before it could break, it stopped above the floor and hovered there. Her grandmother was shocked, but proud. When her parents came home, her grandmother shared the news. Both her parents were wizards, so they were proud to hear the news.

Missing a blood status (wizardborn or pure-blood).
History - what you have does satisfy the requirements we are looking for (200+ words and first magic), but if you can go into a bit more detail about things like: what her parents do, what her siblings are like, her relationship with her friends (if any), you may find it helps you to get in touch with the character better. This is just a suggestion, the only thing needed for approval at this point is a blood status clarification.
APPROVED - an iNPC page has been created

Mahoutokoro NPC
Name: Nato Asakura Fukumori Tanigawa
School: Mahoutokoro
Year: First
Status: Muggleborn
Appearance: Faceclaim is Ryan Potter. This boy is a lightly skinned asian, and has black hair. He tries to wear as many Hawaiian shirts as he can, but sometimes he wears a formal outfit if he needs to. He wears a hearing aid on his left ear. Nato is taller than the average eleven year olds . This boy is lean, and deals with incredible ease when maneuvering around smaller spaces. Of course, everyone wishes that Nato had something special about him, but besides from magic, he was just your average joe. His eyes were blue, as if the sky was never taken out and turned brown by the darkness. He had a good soul, and that differed him from regular.
Personality: With Nato being hard of hearing, that was a bit of a setback, but he was more of the calm, cool, and collected type. He never encouraged danger, and he was one who would run from danger, but act like a hero afterwards.

History:
Reducio
A eleven year old male child, who seems to be a little younger, perhaps around the age of ten, had a brother, who went by the name of Genjirou Izumida Horiuchi Tanigawa. Both were with similar cuts, of hair, and attempted to avoid their bangs being cut. Maybe it was a superstition, maybe it was just a fear both boys had. But that didn't stop them from making mischief together. It was truly immersing, the way people looked at them as they strolled down the street. Nato Asakura Fukumori Tanigawa was hard of hearing, meaning that he could not hear all too well, and he did not have great hearing. But that didn't make him deaf, per se. But it also meant that he wasn't like everyone else.
His parents were fully hearing, knowing perfectly well that it wasn't uncommon for hearing parents to have a deaf child, or a hard of hearing child at that. It was actually rarer for deaf parents to have a deaf child than the other way around. Nato's mom, Ichiro Tokuyama Morita Tanigawa, was rather sad to have seen and found out, that her elder son, Nato, was diagnosed as deaf. His dad, Eru Kawakatsu Kawanishi Tanigawa, was feeling a little bit of hope. As you see, the family themselves was muggles, so they didn't have access to magic.
So, even if there was a spell to fix someone's hearing, they wouldn't have access to it. But, as the boy was younger, around the age of eight, Nato was someone who was a little obsessed with finding out more than what his parents allowed him to, including magic. He always had a feeling that there was more, to the universe, than just science. Maguru (muggle) in Japan were rather fond of relying on their scientists, mainly to discover secrets that still couldn't be proved, especially as a theory.
So, one morning, he dragged his seven year old brother, Genjirou, out to the pasture by their house, and their Bonsai trees were planted as a decorative object to go alongside the stone path that leads to the water. They lived close to the Volcano islands, or better known as Minami iwo Jima. Their house lay in Hokkaido. But nevertheless, the boys were venturing a little over a quarter mile, disappearing behind a rundown shack. They were back there only to find slugs. It seemed to be a good face mask, or well, the slime from the slugs anyways.
They whispered to each other, sharing secrets, but then Genjirou decided to wander away from where they were, from behind the ruined shack. Of course, the boy stuck his head under the shack, to see what all he could come across, but quickly drew his head back out and screamed.
There was a Mamushi lurking around underneath, and it seemed to have taken notice of Nato. The youthful boy continued screaming, the snake took another slither closer, but then burst. It was odd how that snake blew up, and that was just from screaming? He ran back to the house, noticing that Genjirou was reading a book, and his mom was writing very carefully, while his father was fixing the window. He couldn't wait to tell them what happened, and so he did. Every single details were not spared, and the family looked at him without disbelief, except for Genjirou, who still believes in science, and no other way of the universe expressing different signs.

Please do not delete these notes and replace them with your own notes as happened above. These are meant to serve as a record of what needs changing.
"As you see, the family themselves was muggle born, so they didn't have access to magic." - You wrote that the family is muggleborn, which is different from being muggles. Please correct the language here.
"Nato was someone who was a little obsessed with finding out more than what his parents allowed him to, including magic. He always had a feeling that there was more, to the universe, than just science. Maguru (muggle) in Japan were rather fond of relying on their scientists, mainly to discover secrets that still couldn't be proved, especially as a theory." - As a muggleborn, your character should really have no knowledge whatsoever of there being such a thing as "muggles." And to make a statement about all muggles in Japan relying on scientists - it may be best to just remove that line because it is something your character would not necessarily know.
"They lived close to the Volcano islands, or better known as Minami iwo Jima. Their house lay in Hokkaido." - Hokkaido is nowhere near the Volcano Islands. Please remove any mentions of being near the Volcano Islands.
CODY EDIT: Of course, will keep that in mind.
Removed a paragraph, replaced it with a few sentences. Removed the mentions of being close to the Volcano Islands, tried to make it make more sense.
Oct 3 2200pm PendingThe volcano island part is still there. The part regarding an interest in magic as a muggleborn above mentioned is still there. Additional (minor) concerns as follows:
1. Avatar does not match the physical description. A blue-eyed Asian is rather rare without contacts, Ryan Potter the FC has hazel eyes.
2. The character appears to be born hard of hearing. Being born with a deficit would explain it not being healed, otherwise once they went to school they would be healed there as a muggle born. A hearing aide would not work in a magical school because they are electric (batteries). The character would need to either use one of those hearing horns, have it healed (so hard of hearing until they start school)or be hard of hearing with your character at events (which limits their interactive potential and require additional discussion).
3. Japanese citizens generally do not have middle names, it is extremely rare and awkward for that to happen because of their naming style. We recommend removing the middle names entirely, but if you choose to keep them, you would need very good reasoning.

Mahoutokoro NPC
Name: Akira Shimizu
School: Mahoutokoro
Year: First
Status: Pureblood
Appearance: Akira is of medium height and build for his age. He holds himself with poise and confidence. His dark brown eyes are often serious and calculating, and often matched with a light smile that can be interpreted as polite, but more often than not, he is thinking about something that he does not verbalize.
Personality: Akira is not unapproachable, and though he may be polite, he does not befriend others easily. Instead, he often finds himself among acquaintances who like to discuss the facets of life as much as he does. Akira values rationality and efficiency. Above all, he values results, often in some disregard to emotions, whether they be others' or his own. However, he resolves to work within the confines of what he considers to be righteous and lawful and by not overstepping his bounds. He values hierarchies deeply, and believes himself to be an upholder of tradition.
Myers Briggs: INTJ (The Architect)
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
History: Akira was born to a pure-blooded and real estate powered family in Kyoto, which had held onto their properties as family heirlooms throughout World War II. Although his ancestors were not of the richest in the monetary sense, they were academics and involved Ministry officials in the magical world. His great-grandfather was particularly business-minded, and came to develop and establish one of the largest magical shopping alleys in Kyoto. His grandfather carried on the family business, and eventually expanded their family's commercial real estate portfolio to neighboring trendy Osaka, where business boomed. As a result, Akira grew up in a privileged household, with no lack of tutors or the human comforts in life. As heir to the family enterprise, he was trained from day one to walk in his father's shoes. He was used to guests frequenting their family home, where he would often demonstrate his skills with the ryuteki, a Japanese flute.
Akira's first instance of magic occurred when he once wandered outside his father's study. Although he was forbidden to enter when adults were not present, he approached the door one day when his father was out, wondering if he should go inside in search of a book that might help him with his homework assignment. He stood in front of the door, knowing that he should not disobey, but his raging curiosity almost got a hold of him. Somehow, the door magically creaked open on its own, and although he slowly peered into the room, he soon resolved to shut the door and head back to his own room, deciding do go against his wants in favor of obedience and respect.

Stats: Stamina 6 | Evasion 8 | Strength 1 | Wisdom 7 | Arcane Power 5 | Accuracy 8

The way Akira saw it, his job as a child was to be a student, and he was to build his craft in his studies. From a young age, in addition to a child's regular schooling lessons, he would have tutors in calligraphy and music. Both practices were heavily centered around technique and patience; calligraphy was an art that taught the balancing of the mind, the art of expression, and familiarity with popular literary works. To hone his craft, Akira would read literature of the ancients beyond what was expected of his age. He meditated often and practiced his brush strokes and ink-grinding to achieve perfect consistency. To enhance his flute practice, he would study theory and listen to the recordings of masters to study their variations.
His studies in calligraphy and music were just the tip of the iceberg. Once he enrolled in Mahoutokoro day school at the age of seven, he already made it his personal goal to one day don the golden robes and to be one of the two class representatives. He was able to become one of the few top performers within his year at a school with rigorous academics and studious peers. Throughout the years, Akira became an adept learner, developing ways to study efficiently and review his lessons with care. Before each class, he would preview the relevant textbook chapters and the professors' relevant notes. During class, he would listen intently and ask questions as need be. After class, he reviewed the material within the same day and often began his homework as soon as possible. At the end of his week, he would review his notes for the week once more.
Patience and discipline were key. Whenever he had setbacks or mistakes on a test, he would often grind his teeth in frustration and sometimes beat himself up a little harder than necessary, but his resolve would strengthen as he tells himself that there's no point crying over spilt ink. Mistakes were learning opportunities, after all. Discipline kept his resolve sharp and a routine became natural once he followed it. After all, those who strongly desired to rise up would find a way to build a ladder.

Akira strives for excellence. From a young age, he was taught that every pursuit and action in life must be made with proper care. It was not only how you executed, but also how you conducted yourself in front of your peers and superiors, and how much you sought to hone your craft. It was upon his work that Akira built his pride, and he had always taken his education seriously. His perfectionist qualities are also reflected in his spellcasting, as he would carefully practice the wand movements and recite the incantations separately when learning a spell before casting, and rigorously commit both to memory with repeated practice every night until it became second nature to him when a spell was needed. When you cast a spell, you take your time doing so. You enunciate your words with care and you do not recklessly swish your wand about. Your spells don't backfire, they don't fail. You're too much of a Perfectionist to let that happen.

Mahoutokoro NPC
Name: Ayuma "Ayu" Kobayashi
School: Mahoutokoro
Year: 1st Year
Status: Halfblood
Personality: Ayuma is bubbly and very social. She often takes whatever chance she is given to make new friends or socialize with her classmates. However, she often gets in trouble for daydreaming or goofing off. She's very bold and isn't afraid to be herself or openly state her opinion.
Appearence: Ayuma has long, black hair that reaches her chest. She has big, hazel eyes and pale skin. She's shorter than most kids, around five feet and light. She has a slim face with a sharp chin and sharp cheekbones and naturally rosy cheeks and lips.
faceclaim: roh kyung joololol
History:
Ayuma Kobayashi (小林あゆみ) was born June 18, 2010, in Kyoto, Japan. Her mother, Miyu Takahashi was a witch of a powerful pureblood family. After graduating, the young woman moved to London and became an Auror. There, she met a young Japanese man named Hiroto Kobayashi. Hiroto had been born in London, however, his parents had moved from Japan to England before he was born. The two immediately fell for each other and were soon married. However, Miyu hadn't told Hiroto of her wizard heritage and instead told him she was an office woman.
The couple soon moved to Kyoto, Miyu's hometown, and settled down there. Nearly a year later, they had their first daughter, Eiko Kobayashi. At the time, Miyu had still not told her husband of her magic, and the young man lived oblivious to her secret life. However, when Miyu was pregnant with their second child, Hiroto witnessed her using her magic to move around objects in their living room. Horrified by his wife's secret, Hiroto immediately left her, leaving Miyu to take care of the new child alone.
Soon after, Miyu gave birth to their second daughter, Ayuma. She raised her two children alone, keeping their father a disclosed secret. Whenever her two daughters asked about their father, she stated they had no father, and instead showed up at her doorstep when she prayed for two daughters. However, Eiko had a few memories of her father and told Ayuma stories about him when their mother wasn't looking.
Ayuma lived a peaceful life, growing up in the countryside with her sister and mother. Their mother told them of the magical world, but never directly as facts. She told them through stories, stories of a magical world where you could make potions that changed your appearance and cast spells that brought objects straight to your hands.
Unfortunately, Eiko hadn't shown any signs of magic and was born a squib. However, when Ayuma was six, she started showing her first signs of magic. She was sitting in her room when she suddenly felt cold. All of a sudden, a blanket floated from a chair in her room and wrapped itself around her. Her mother was delighted to find out one of her daughters inherited her magic. Unfortunately, this caused Eiko to become quite jealous of her younger sister, and they slowly drifted apart.WC: 393 Words

ReducioWalking through the halls of Mahoutokoro, people can't help but stop and stare when they first see young Ayuma Kobayashi. Her flowing, raven black hair reaches her chest and seems to frame her face perfectly. It seems to wave around her shoulders, pointing out her sharp cheeks and highlighting her face. She has two bright, hazel eyes that seem to switch between green, blue, and deep brown which are framed by curly long eyelashes and thin, curved eyebrows. Her face is a perfect mix of sharp and curvy, she has a sharp chin and a pointed, button nose with strong cheekbones and slightly chubby cheeks. She's pretty fit, with a strong build and a thin, mesomorph body shape. Her cheeks and lips are rosy pink which contrasts perfectly against her smooth, pale skin.
From the moment she was born, her mother knew Ayuma was beautiful. When family members dropped by to see the newborn, they'd immediately mention her striking beauty. When they called her beautiful, they meant it. As she grew, Ayuma became more and more beautiful, attracting many of her classmates. Since her first year of school, the mix of her bubbly personality and beauty made it easy for her to make friends. People would eagerly introduce themselves to her, all intrigued by her beauty. She seemed to radiate an aura that drew people in, but not all of those people had good intentions. Some of her "friends" used Ayuma for her beauty and popularity, others called her names and accused her of faking her natural beauty, which led her to begin despising her charm.
What she first saw as a personal blessing soon evolved into something much worse, a curse. Ayuma found it hard to know who her true friends were, and she started hating the compliments she'd hear as she walked through the halls. Hey, I like your hair! You look pretty today Ayu! Even though most people had meant it, her paranoia of fake friends got the better of her. She started becoming more distant from her friends, the bubbly, social girl from before fading away into a shy, cold loner. However, when she turned seven, a new opportunity bloomed, quite literally, in the form of a cherry tree.
Ayuma awoke to a potted cherry tree on her front doorstep, symboling her admittance into Mahoutokoro. Her mother was delighted and informed her she would be going to a new school. Rethinking what her beauty really was, she realized it could be used for greater purposes. She concluded a new start was what she needed, and decided to bring back the social young girl she had been before.
Making friends was just as much of a breeze at her new school, and she immediately decided to stick with her role. She realized that though her natural beauty caused others to take advantage of her, she could use it to take advantage of others. She concluded that she would work on using it correctly. Although it was still much of a curse, Ayuma didn't care as much. For her, it was valuable, and she didn't plan on concealing it for much longer.WC: 524 Words

She likes music, dancing, drawing, singing, art in general.HistoryReducioSakura was born during a snowstorm on December 17, 2009 in the ancestral home of the Kobayashi. This is probably one of the reasons why she likes snowstorms. Little Sakura already had a brother 3 years older than her, Kaito. Both of them grew up in Japanese traditions. They were also taught that all humans are equal, wizards or not. Magic was only a talent, not a sign of superiority.
While Sakura was introduced to arts such as music, dance and painting, Kaito was trained in martial arts. She was only 4 years old when her brother left for Mahoutokoro, but it didn't matter: they were not very close. Sakura quickly developed a talent for Japanese painting and classical dance. Even though this dance is more european, Sakura's parents wanted her to learn about cultures around the world.
Sakura was proud to go to Mahoutokoro. Even though she was only an extern at the moment. She was so happy when she saw her little cherry tree on the windowsill, the year she turned 7. She was delighted to know that her parents had named her Sakura because it was a cherry tree that was to show them her level.
This summer, the day before school started, her mother cut her hair off at the shoulders. That was it, she was officially entering Mahoutokoro!
Stamina: 5 | Evasion: 6 | Strength: 3 | Wisdom: 8 | Arcane Power: 7 | Accuracy: 6PerfectionistReducioSakura has always had a perfectionist side. As she says "It's the details that make the difference". She always knew how to measure her time so that she could take her time without being late. Her mother thinks it runs in the family. But Sakura is not sure: her brother is catastrophic. Maybe Kaito is an exception...
While most people who are perfectionists say they are not, or a little, Sakura says out loud that she is a perfectionist. Even though it is sometimes annoying to others, being a perfectionist allows you to reach a level of near perfection. "Level of near", because as everyone knows, perfect perfection does not exist. It is an idea, an impression, a goal. But not something achievable.
When it comes to dance, music or drawing, Sakura makes every effort to execute the gesture, note or color/effect to perfection. If she fails (which rarely happens), she starts from the beginning, until it is perfect. In class, it's the same. When writing and speaking, she drafts it in her head before she writes or says it. When it comes to practice such as magic, Sakura takes her time, concentrating to get the best result possible.
When we compare Sakura and her brother, we wonder if they are the same family. Sakura is calm, gentle and masterful in everything she does. Kaito, on the other hand, is much more brusque, he only thinks about martial arts and doesn't care much about his studies. Without the pressure of their parents, Kaito would be among the worst students of the school. They are only 3 years apart.
Also, most perfectionists don't have much imagination. To say that Sakura has no imagination is to insult her. In some people, the perfectionist side comes out only in moments. With Sakura, it is omnipresent. This has led to many arguments with her brother, because Kaito is quite careless.
One day Sakura had an origami contest with her cousin. Her cousin chose speed over patience and lost. Sakura made precise and meticulous gestures, which allowed her to have a better and more precise origami. Sakura has won several competitions against her cousins and friends thanks to her perfectionist side. As said above, there are many advantages to being a perfectionist. In the disadvantages, Sakura had a broken leg when she tried to do a trick she couldn't do. Perfectionist and always trying to be one level higher than the others. This is good, but not always.

Personality:
Reducio
Hadashi is curious and studious. He is determined to make his robes change gold, and is well on the way to accomplishing that. In addition, he is determined to show the entire school that the type of wand does not determine your talents.
While he is a bit obsessed with making sure he gets the highest grade one can get in very assignment, he always makes room for leisure time in order to unwind.
Hadashi also has a tendency to "forget" to bring his shoes to certain classes, seemingly at random. This ends up in Hadashi being barefooted in that class. It always happens once a day at least, just like Gym class when he was in muggle school. He is meticulous in his studying and cleanliness, traits taught to him by his parents. While usually has a cool, calm, and calculating personality, Hadashi is easily excited by new things, especially new subjects or new sights.
He rather likes anime and will read manga in his downtime. Hadashi is also a bit of a foodie, and loves trying new types of ramen or sushi. He desperately wants to try foods from other countries and see what other wizarding schools are like.

History:
Reducio
Born to two muggle-borns, Hadashi lived in both magic and non-magic worlds. Going to muggle school in Kyoto, but always being regaled at night by stories from his parents about the magic world. At an early age, he was a firm believer in yokai, despite the school trying to teach them otherwise.
When he was 5, Hadashi received his first instance of magic. During a cherry blossom festival, he wanted to hold a blossom himself, but couldnt reach. Frustration began to mount. And all of a sudden, a downward gust of wind blew a perfect blossom right into his hands. And more petals all over him.
The gust died as soon as it had come, however.
To his delight and excitement, Hadashi was told that that was magic. And that when he was 7, he would be able to go to Mahoutokoro's day program. And sure enough, one week after he turned 7, Dan found a potted Sakura tree in their living room, and an invitation.
On the day before his 11th birthday, Hadashi was taken by his parents to retrieve supplies. The first was his wand. And his parents took him to the best wandmaker in all of Kyoto.
This... was a bit of a discouraging time for Hadashi. They stayed in the shop for an hour and a half, trying wand after wand, core after core, wood after wood. Nothing would work for him. At the end of it, Hadashi was on the verge of tears, believing that there was a mistake, or that he was defective.
But then, the master wandmaker had a thought. He went into the back for a moment, as Hadashi's parents tried to console him.
The wandmaker returned with a very ornate and intricately designed box. Upon opening it, a Lovely red wand was inside.
Hadashi was not expecting this one to work either, but when he tried it, sure enough, the wand chose him as its user.
And boy did this one make a spectacle of it.
The moment he found out that his robes would change color depending on his magical knowledge and grades, and that his parents would be able to see it reflected in the sakura tree in their house, Hadashi decided immediately that he would make his robes turn gold. Failure was unthinkable.
This drive to succeed was evidently sensed by people of his year, and he was elected as a class representative.
As soon as he was able, Hadashi joined the Dueling Club, and became a key player very quickly.
He consistently gets top marks on his assignments, due to his curiosity, and drive to have golden robes. After his first year, the electives he chose were Meditation and Painting.

Hadashi was not the scaredy type. At honestly any point. He always enjoyed the fine aspects of horror, particularly in manga and anime. In addition, old stories of the horrors of yokai fascinated him. Sure, most stories about them like Azuki-baba were probably made up imitating Azuki-arai to scare children into behaving, but Hadashi never cared. There was just something he liked about horror. Sure, he liked action manga better, like Naruto, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure or One Piece where they are clever in how they defeat opponents, or the Dragon Ball series when he just wanted half-mindless action. He also enjoyed the occasional Death Note, or even Sailor Moon when he was in the mood.
(What? Its a good story.)
Sometimes however, things like Tokyo Ghoul or Tomodachi x Monster just called to him to come and look at their gore and horror.
"Come and look at us, Hadashi! Read us! Watch us! We're freaky and gory and will give children nightmares!"
Something like that.
However, his most recent discovery had given him everything he wanted. Jujutsu Kaisen. Action, horror, gore, everything.
His parents were... well, they weren't concerned, but they did make sure to rein it in before it would get into a love of macabre.
That said, Hadashi also enjoyed American horror. Though he saw a lot of things about it as ridiculous -Jason being unkillable, constantly doing ridiculous things to bring Freddy Krueger back for yet another movie, the entirety of the Chucky franchise- But he still enjoyed the creativity that WAS present.
And yes, of course, the scare factor.
This even extended to games. Silent Hill and (some) Resident Evil. Nothing creeped him out like Silent Hill, he LOVED that game. In fact, horror games can actually still scare him. Both Japanese horror and american horror games could get to him.
All this led to Hadashi being rather used to creepy things, almost desensitized to it. But he still enjoyed the feeling of a chill running up his spine in a legitimately creepy moment. But, unnerving things rarely fazed him anymore, and Hadashi was exceptionally hard to intimidate. These were traits that his parents think will be very helpful to him later down the line. Hadashi sees the helpfulness in the shorter term better; No duelist in Mahoutokoro can intimidate or mind game him. He isnt scared of being flown on a storm bird at break neck velocity every day, and the pressure to have high marks on assignments rarely gets to him.

Perfectionist
Reducio
While just a recent addition to his personality, Hadashi was meticulous in his studies. Whereas before, in Muggle school, he honestly didn't quite care THAT much. Sure he got passing grades, but nothing astonishing. Slightly above average across the board.
However, as soon as he entered into Mahoutokoro, that attitude changed immediately. He was going to make his robes turn gold, at any cost. His views on school switched almost overnight, due to him wanting to know everything about the magical world, and to make his robes gold.
Yes, he made sure to balance his time, as over-working oneself can lead to a sharp decline in productivity and quality, not to mention being burned out and done with the whole thing. Hadashi, under NO circumstances wanted that. That would lead to an inevitable drop in his grades and performance. So, he made sure to make time for gaming, anime, manga, and trying out new foods. But, his studies always came first.
He went over his homework twice to make sure everything was right. He double measured all his potion ingredients to ensure that he got the highest marks. And, of course, he made absolutely sure he used the proper incantations, pronunciations, and wand movements for any spell. Yeah, people might get annoyed at his near obsession with getting everything right. But, this only really applied to two things. School, and Dueling. He's even recently taken to streamlining his study routine to make it even more efficient. You COULD interpret that as him doing this to make more room for leisure, but that depends on who you ask. If you ask Hadashi, well... That would honestly depend on whether or not you were a teacher. But the truthful answer is yes, that was absolutely the reason. And, it worked quite well. His grades did not drop in the slightest, but he had more leisure time and more time to unwind. He wasn't as tense. And he was able to find new anime and manga he loved. He was quite proud of himself for both his grades, and this new streamlined studying technique.
Hadashi was now able to get his studying and homework done in but two thirds of the time before. Sure it wasn't HALF the time, but reduced time is reduced time. And that alone is an achievement to be praised. With his Perfectionist approach to homework and school, this technique, and his drive and motivation, his robes would be gold in no time!

Evasive Maneuvers
Spell Spread
PENDING - October 9th (edits due by October 18th)
Appearance - yellow robes are not a thing. Navy blue is the closest to gold. The transitions between colors happen gradually for the rest because they gradient into each other, but after maintaining navy robes for several months, the color change to gold happens overnight.
Wand - at the moment, we ask that NPC wands not be detailed because we do not have a wand system for them. So please remove any wood/core/length details about your iNPC's wand. This includes the part in your history about its core's history, and the details about having a cherry wood being a big honor in Japanese society. I understand this is a big part of the history you wrote, but we always ask that details on NPC wands be avoided.
Mahoujanai - we are currently in discussion about what term the Japanese will use for muggles, but for now we ask that you avoid using this one. The likely term we will end up using is mumajin (無魔人), but for now you may want to stick to muggle to avoid conflicting information.
History - there are no "houses" at Mahoutokoro and no sorting scroll. Please brush up on the site's official lore. You'll need to remove details about being sorted into Shunrai and their duelling team.
Abilities - we need 400+ word ability applications for each of these in order to get them approved. You have until October 11th to get these ability applications in, or you'll have to wait until the next round of applications to add abilities.
PENDING - October 12th (edits due by October 18th)
Personality - The part about people with certain wands being looked down on will need to be removed as that establishes wand lore that hasn't been released yet.
History - Please remove any mention of tanuki as they are not confirmed magical creatures in canon or site lore, which means you'll need to update your first magic accordingly. Also, it's been agreed that the official term for muggle used by the Japanese is mumajin if you wanted to add that flavor, but muggle also works.
Evasive Maneuvers and Spell Spread will need to be applied for in the next round of applications because they weren't filled out in time, but your other two abilities look good.

Mahoutokoro NPC
Plot-based NPC (now you know where he is, and yes it is relevant)
Name: Puraido Mattaiasu
School: Mahoutokoro
Year: Must be the same year as you are presently.
Status: Pureblood
Appearance: A tall, pale-skinned and freckled youth. He is rather thin and tall for his age and has always been physically frail of body but not of mind. He has hazel eyes that are often commented on by his obsessive girlfriend and a head of thick, red hair. He considers himself to be rather handsome, sporting angular features and dressing fashionably. Some might say he is a bit of a chameleon however as his appearance has taken a drastic change since he has moved to Japan. His face is often hidden beneath a mask that he insists on wearing when outside of his dormitory. Besides this he dresses as he is required, in the robes provided by his school during school hours but his off-hours he is often seen wearing the dark wizard robes of his former school.

Personality: More ambitious than you. He always has a plan. There is always something ticking away in the back of his head. He is unrelenting but he is also had-working. He does not have a sense of loyalty or kinship but he does have his attachments and preferences. He has a cruel sense of humor and he is for the lack of a better word, an asshole.
He is thought of as strange, arrogant and lonesome here. He does not speak and when he does it is in broken Japanese that is heavily accented. For that reason he prefers to not speak at all. He prefers to hide his face out of guilt but he would be more apt to claim it is because he is the palest boy in the school being one of the few gingers. However the mask he chooses to wear makes him stand out more.
He has been in a number of brawls since his arrival a few months ago, he started over half of them and he probably deserved all of them. Of additional note is an incredible amount of mail seems to be delivered to him at regular intervals.
History: Born in Wellington, England. His pureblooded parents had Greek roots. His mother works for the British Ministry of Magic as a Metal Charmer. His father works as an Owlet trainer. In addition, they co-own a small book store in Greece. The book store is in truth a front for muggles, the back room is where fortuned are divined for a price. While his parents technically partially own the book store they are rarely present, however members of his extended family who also partially own the store run the establishment and therefore reap the profits much to Puraido's chagrin. His family comes from old money but his parents appear content to live middle-class lives.
He was educated in a preparatory school for wizards. He was tutored in the basics of reading, writing, literature and mathematics. He is a proficient piano player.
As for siblings, he has none. He does technically have a half-brother, who can also be considered his cousin. His mother and his uncle had him about eleven years ago. His family dynamics are complicated. He also has a few cousins, one of which had recently died. An unfortunate tragedy that had to do with a lingering curse that ultimately took his life a matter of days before the cure was discovered. He almost blames himself for it, had he mentioned the recently discovered cure or had his cousin had the opportunity to do so, then his cousin would be alive to this day.
His cousins death rocked the family. They decided that Hogwarts was no longer safe so moved. Most of his extended family transferred to Koldovstoretz. He was the exception, his cousin (the living one) has not quite forgiven him. Something about "murdering him in his sleep being too good for a snake like him." Big words from such a weak, inept boy. All the same, distance had a way of making the heart grow fonder. His preference was to return to Hogwarts but his parents would not hear of it. He insisted on Japan for reasons he has not yet shared but he has once again a plan.
Money talks. The requirement was living in Japan. Suddenly that book shop in Greece was more appealing to earn those galleons. Moving to Japan was no easy task. Hokkaido is a lovely place, a natural beauty that the UK seems to lack. His parents moved to Hokkaido, his younger-cousin brother and himself enrolled mid-year in Mahoutokoro.
First Instance of Magic: He was three and he was playing with blocks. The sort that you stack on upon the other. As his parents tell is, merely pulling back the years ever so slightly, they heard laughter in the study where he was playing and when they entered his blocks were floating, bobbing about him. He was too young to recall his parents' reaction but they told him that they celebrated and bought him knew toys he has long since grown past.

Ever wish to call home? Well he didn't. There was no need, he did not care if he was missed or if he was wanted because he had other, better things to do with his time. Because he always had access to them anyways via owl, by personal contact or whatever the message was it could certainly wait.
Times had changes, his situation had also.
Marks are terribly unique. One to a scriber, no two the same. It would be laughable to realize what his mark would be. The grasping legs of a spider, the all seeing eye and of course the hidden message behind it all. The roles that bonded them even if they wished to not be bound. The small mouth below could only whisper the secrets it had to tell.
"So this is how it works?"
His Japanese terrible and tangled, his tongue refused to move as it should and the words came out muddied.
"Kurai me"
He would point the wand at his bare chest and press the tip against his mayonnaise-like flesh. It did not hurt, but he felt something that he could only describe as a cold tingle. Enough to be jarring, to make one think that sensation should be pain while it was not.
Something dark would form just beneath the surface of his flesh. Reminiscent of the dark curse that had taken his cousin's life. For a moment he felt a sense of apprehension as he stared as his thin, pallid image in the mirror. His expression was fearful but the mask would not betray this truth as he was without his upper vestments with the exception of his mask. Even his tutor was not about to see his face, his truth and the shame he would eternally deny.
"It is supposed to spread like that, yeah?"
He fought to keep his voice even, indifferent. In truth the fear was palpable. The fear of karma and justice, a rightful fright for one such as him. The image that would form looked like a clean, fresh tattoo. The darkness spread no further and his fingers would trace over the inky mark.
"Kurai me" he repeated. It meant dark eye in Japanese, a tongue that was not his own. Darkness had become significant in his life as did the eye that always watched and always knew. That would be the word for it, the word that defined the dark link between himself and others as he allowed himself to be known. Soon he would be known as more than than better but as their Lord.

Times had changes, his situation had also.
He had heard of the technique. Little had he known one of his former dormmates already had such a skill. A wasted opportunity to pretend to have a friend until he was no longer useful. Not that this was a particularly 'dark' skill, just one that is not conventionally learned but one can pay for the services of an elder to show one the ropes. That was exactly what he did in this case. He paid to learn, nothing spoke as clearly between cultures as cold hard cash and now that his parents lacked the luxury of mediocracy, he had galleons to spare.

Mahoutokoro NPC
NPC Name: Sana Ohashi
Link: ୨୧
Year: first
Stats: sta: 5 eva: 6 str: 6 wis: 6 acc:6 arc:6
Abilities: Lovely creature
ReducioSana was always a girl who abide by the rules. She grew up knowing that manners would get her further in life than running her mouth. Sit up straight, speak politely. Be respectful. Be mindful of your actions. But she also knew that presentation was key. The girls at her school were all so pretty to look at. Their clothes seemed to be unique. Their hair was so shiny, their eyes so beautiful. Their skin was always so beautiful, so perfect. Their lips were a unique shade of pink, their features standing out in all the right ways. And their bodies. They all seemed to be the perfect shape and size. Sana? She had never been built like a supermodel. She had no perfect body, she wasn't that developed, either. She was not fat, but she was normal. She was ordinary. Her body was not shaped like an hourglass. Her hair was not shiny and flowing in the wind. To her, she always felt... plain. Nothing special.
"Don't you ever feel jealous about the pretty girls?" She sometimes would ask her friends. "What do you mean?" They always laughed and she blushed furiously. "Well how do you think they look so perfect all the time?" She so badly wanted to know, because she felt like she needed to be pretty too. "They wear makeup. Lot's of it, I guess. But Sana- you're already pretty!" But Sana didn't feel pretty. She knew her friends were just saying that. It was easy for them to say, she thought. They had pretty skin. They had nice lips and smooth hair. All the girls seemed to be from her paintings- she would paint people with beautiful colors.
And soon doubt filled her, and she began to try so hard with her looks. It was stressful, but she did it. She began to become more mindful of her appearance, about what others thought of her. She took care of her skin, her hair, and her face. When she washed she took twice as long because she wanted to be sure she was actually clean. It was rare that she could convince her mother to buy her makeup, but when she couldn't she borrowed some from classmates. She spent some time in front of the mirror just to get the makeup right. Her clothes had always been neat, and they stayed that way. Soon, she felt just a tiny bit more confident with herself. She allowed herself to smile at people. Sure, it was a shy smile but it was progressing. Soon, she had become a bit more noticeable. She wasn't full of herself, maybe that's what made her even more distracting.

Extracurricular: broom racer
Content Changes: applying for lovely creature, fleshing out her personality a bittt more.
ReducioPersonality: Sana is an organized girl. She is careful about her studies and grades and can be very serious seemingly, although she's just shy. She always wonders what people are thinking about her and what their words actually mean. Since she's the oldest out of her siblings, she tends to worry when something bad is going to happen. She let's her imagination get the best of her most of the time. Sometimes, she paints or sketches what she sees. To her, it calms her down. She follows the rules and uses her manners, speaking politely. However, get to know her and she's more than meets the eye. She can be funny, she's loyal, and has a nice laugh.
