Description: The white-bellied sea-eagle is recognized by its contrasting plumage, with a crisp white body and ash-grey wings. Its legs are armored in cream-colored scales and end in wicked talons. Its beak is like a blade: steely, curved and cutting. His body is two and a half feet long with a six-foot wingspan. What sets Pericles' animagus form apart from the average eagle is its distinctive marking: soft grey "freckle" spots across his cheek feathers. Pericles first bonded with the bird as a child learning falconry, cementing a fascination for raptors that would last a lifetime.

Filos was brought from home in Peri's 4th year. Hatched and raised from a wee spiderling, he is one of the favorites from Peri's arachnid collection. Webbers are described as "about the size of a baseball". This one is large for its breed. When handled accordingly, he is docile, albeit prone to sudden leaping. Inquisitive, averse to confinement, and cowardly. Filos weaves his black webs in the canopy over Pericles' dormitory bed.

Pericles saved his first year of Hogwarts allowance to buy a Silver Arrow, then exchanged it in his sixth year for a Starsweeper. This particular model was given a design makeover in tribute to its predecessor, with wood stained silver to match. Its feathery tail twigs, dyed a deep cobalt, resemble the fletching of an arrow while providing aerodynamic advantages. These are attached by a silver socket connected to a metal saddle, dipped for secure seating and equipped with open stirrups. It comes complete with advanced speed and maneuverability spells, as well as the standard disillusionment and cushioning charms.

The party is attacked by dark dolls, living vines, cursed terrain, and Peri is abducted by an acromantula. Though he convinces it to release him, he's dropped from the trees, smothered by a doll, and accidentally hit by a peer trying to spell it off of him, losing consciousness. Prof. Equinox arrives just in time to prevent him from being dragged into darkness.

The Heads of Houses confront the student body during dinner, reprimanding them for recent misconduct, but also briefing them on recent dangers and subsequent consequences. Responsibility grounded him. Through a series of unfortunate events, he not only diminished his fear of adult authority figures, but became disenchanted with them. Joining the duel team was formative for his magical capabilities. While ravenous curiosity towards the magical world's mysteries didn't dwindle, his inability to find closure became a point of frustration, leaving him all the more eager to solve them.

YEAR III Thirteen is a momentous age for anyone, especially pureblood heirs. On top of a looming legacy and war with hormones, the youth of Hogwarts faced traumatic threats: gruesome attacks by the terror group SCAR, hags inflicting a fatal blood curse on students, and a swathe of mortifying encounters that repeatedly threatened (or took) young lives. Pear became secluded, childish curiosity turned to beleaguered paranoia. His focus lay in studies, duel practice, choir rehearsal, and prefect responsibilities, with minimal time set aside for fun. His patrols were painstakingly thorough. He discovered his boggart was fear of failing his family, mutilating their legacy, and being ultimately unworthy of it. Met while prefects. Funny and friendly, he added a sense of adventure to the task, and that is how Pericles chooses to remember him. While possessed by a Dark creature, Jack stabbed Peri's eye with a wand, rendering him irreversibly monocular. Pericles doesn't resent him given the circumstances, but his regard for Jack is "complicated" at best.

This is a vent about AI. It isn't meant to virtue-signal or guilt-trip anyone, just to share a line of thought, and to apologize at large to the visual artist community. A former writing partner recently invited me to a server designed for writing with RP bots. She said they're fast, you don't have to wait for a reply, and you can correct them to change their "posts" if you don't like the direction it's taking. For me, writing with others is a celebration of human creativity. Writing with bots sounded soulless, dystopian, and pointless. If I wanted a story to read entirely my way, I'd go write a book. But more than a general dislike, it hit me that in order to be capable of RP, the bots had to have been fed content from other writers. I kept cycling back to how messed up the concept of bot RP felt and how mortifying it was to imagine any of my writing, from over a decade of doing it, getting fed into code. I pour my heart into developing these characters and their adventures. Some started out as barebones concepts only to be built on and refined over years of interaction. It's paralyzing to consider the possibility of dozens of public OC profiles or even thousands of posts getting screened, picked apart for content, and regurgitated in a paragraph comprised entirely of slop for a stranger's entertainment. I hated the idea that years of growing my style could be copied and loosely emulated. I'm embarrassed it took me this long to conceptualize how many visual artists feel. I've always had massive respect for those who take time to draw in any capacity. I still remember getting my first piece of OC gift art as a kid- I want to say about 12 or 13 years ago- and having my mind blown seeing one of my ideas outside of my head. I was obsessed, and went on to commission well over 100 pieces of art since. Watching different creators interpret the same OC in distinct ways has always been a treat all its own. I've spent years zooming in on fine details and admiring varieties in technique. When I learned how to generate decent AI art, it was addicting: I got to see my characters in whatever style I wanted, at a fraction of the time, for free. Convenience makes it easy to get greedy. Seeing people use AI to write and roleplay put me in a dark place where I questioned the point of even participating. I am so sorry to any visual artist that's ever gone through the same thought process. I'm not going to judge anyone who's using it because I haven't nuked my old generations (edit: I have since deleted these and scrubbed them from my profile), it would be obnoxiously hypocritical of me, and I'm not at the point of outrage I probably should be at. But the more I learned about the process behind generations, and the horrific environmental impacts we're already starting to see, the worse I felt. As an older RPer and advocate of creative circles, I've set a bad example. If you're not in a place to spend real money, I'd recommend combing through our local artist board, there is a huge spectrum of insanely talented people on HiO. My current pfp is from this shop (they're closed at the time I'm posting this but worth a follow). I can personally recommend outfits (or full bods, or whatever really) from my friend over here. Photobashing is cool too as long as you aren't using someone else's art to do it. You can go the old-fashioned way of compiling a bunch of references into a sheet. There are alternatives, and while they aren't as gratifying to our dopamine receptors as typing a prompt and getting something back instantaneously, they're more worth our time. This has been eating at me in a bad way and all I can do is encourage others to consider alternatives. I'm not angry at myself or anyone for having fun with it at the start, only now, we've had enough time to learn that it goes against everything we stand for as independent creatives. I started generating AI because I love art, and I've stopped because I love art.
