Alan hummed as he stepped to the piste. The weather was quite pleasant, which almost made it a shame that he had to spend such a nice morning moderating. But moderating also was quite exciting and considering the summer camp, it was outdoors and what more could he possibly ask for? He knew all of the duellists he had been chosen to moderate for, so there was less likely a chance for any huge surprises. Either he had moderated for them before or encountered them in a duel of his own. Tiger had run off this time around, after all he was outdoors and there were plenty of butterflies to chase and sunny napping spots to conquer. He also was aware that Hanako would very likely have some choice words to say if he dared to bring Tiger to another duel he was moderating so he hoped the viper could appreciate the thought. He hoped that this would turn into a fascinating duel, especially since it was something unusual which likely would bring enough with it to shake the usual strategy, so he was curious to learn about the reactions when the students would find themselves in a 3v3 situation.

Bridget could not remember the last time she'd walked into a duel with such a pervading lack of confidence. It had been her very first duel maybe, poetically also against Phaedra, feeling wholly unprepared and incapable. That wasn't quite the case this time--she knew her skill, knew how to duel--but her best attempts to keep her chin up weren't quite working, either. It was hard when her teammates shared the feeling, Hanako especially radiating a certain gloominess.
In the face of low spirits, Bridget had thrown out an idea, more joke than anything. What if they dressed up? Wore something ridiculous and bright, and then they would win off the winds of their opponent's distraction. No part of this had ever ceased being a joke, but here they were, taking the summer duelling stage-- in hot pink feather boas.
Even a year ago, Bridget would have rather died. It turned out inheriting the title of Captain from Dmitri Jones also meant inheriting a certain disregard for others' opinions, at least to the point she could stand there giggling, not wanting to disappear.
Clothing choices were not, of course, a strategy. And they did have one of those, Bridget had pored over it perhaps more than it was worth, they were not going in blind. Pericles, Delilah, and Phaedra had all been duellists for years now, they had familiarity with their skill, their individual strengths. Bridget had personally duelled all of them but Pericles. And that meant she knew it would be a tough fight, maybe an unachievable one, but if nothing else they would go down swinging.
"You both look great," she complimented, wide grin at her matching teammates. Who said they couldn't have a bit of fun, no matter what happened? "Just do what we've practiced, we'll be alright." Possibly in a lot of pain. But hopefully not utterly embarrassed. She took her place with her ritual nod toward the opposition and drew her wand.

@Phaedra Stavrou | @Pericles Dralt | @Bridget Collins | @Hanako Tone | @Opeila WintersA 3v3 duel, this would be an interesting one. So the ravens and the snakes tied again this year, so Del had half expected to be duelling against people from other schools, but found herself facing none other than fellow hogwarts students. A couple of which she had duelled against before. Although she didn't think she had duelled against Hanako before. She would have to see how this goes.

When one finds themselves in a state of chaos ( or a place of chaos they would be getting into ), it is simply best to let sanity and logic go, and merely have fun at the expense of the Ravenclaw’s comfort. He thought any sense of lingering pettiness for today’s match would be gone by the morning, considering after he received a good luck kiss from a certain someone. But as the day came and the match was about to begin, he did his best to appear nonchalant and unaffected. It didn’t work. He was not the best actor. Bridget, the ever observant - noticed this and made a suggestion that made his jaw drop.
Feather boa’s. Hot pink, feather boa’s. As a matching set. For all to see during the duel. It was absurd, and he recalled telling her that. But you know what else is absurd? That he actually found himself agreeing to it.
He confidently brushed back his hair at her compliment. “ Yes, it brings out our eyes, don’t you think?” he jested, though he sent her a grateful look. He would’ve been caught dead wearing something like this, but somehow it really did keep him momentarily distracted from the incoming doom. Whatever the case, it certainly lifted his spirits up- even if they seemed more..on the unhinged side.
He let out a low whistle. An expected first move from the boy, for anyone who had been watching his duels. Although surprisingly, this time his charming gaze was not focused on the Ravenclaw’s this time. Instead, it was the moderator, Alan Vanes. “ You know what, Vanes? Now that your demonic cat is gone, I find myself easily being drawn to you. You should do it more often~. I appreciate the sight”. He sent Vanes a quick wink, saying not a single lie. Whenever his eyes wander to Vanes, his stupid furball of a cat is always around that never allowed Hanako to appreciate the finer details of his owner’s gentle like features. Their past history aside, he was pretty hot.

It had been a while since Opeila last participated in a summer game, but it seemed like she was fated not to win one. The young fifth year saw it immediately when she entered the field and faced her cousin, Pericles, and two seventh years.
Not that they hadn't known who they were up against, so Opeila was through her initial anger- it was a game but she quite hated being set up to lose.
And if that wasn't enough, she had to duel together with Hanako again.
It was only because of Bridget's presence, Opeila didn't make a mean comment in his direction, but ignored him entirely.
She nodded in Bridget's direction with a half-smile, readjusting her own feather boa before turning to her opponents.

It felt almost surreal to take the stage now as a seventh-year, considering her debut four years prior. After looking forward to partnering with someone of her age for ages now—if only for the peace of mind that a mere sneeze wouldn’t take them out—the opportunity fell into her lap in the form of Delilah Stewart, a fellow senior. It was surprising, this matchup, knowing how they were usually organised… that and the matching fashion across the piste. Retrieving her wand in silent thought, Phaedra regarded their feathery attire, wondering if perhaps she had missed a memo.Doing as strategized (x)

Pericles, ghost that he was, was seldom seen out and about. He was keen on keeping to himself since his fourth year, though attending duels and practice remained an exception. The pale, sleepy-eyed recluse gave up hermitage to join his teammates at the piste. His fortune wasn't lost on him. Delilah and Phaedra were not only seventh-year students, but accomplished duellists, having proven their prowess time and again. He would have his work cut out for him to keep pace, and knew better than to underestimate their opponents.
"Hullo Phaedra. Delilah." Pericles smiled between them, and though there was a detachedness to him, his cordiality was earnest as ever. He always made a point of raising his wand and giving a trademark bow at the start of a match, though Opeila in particular was given a less formal nod. Good luck, the look implied. He wasn't one to bat an eye at anyone else's choice of accessory- the wix world was full of odd fashion choices, especially in pureblood circles- though he did quirk a mild frown at Hanako's words for Allen. He always rather liked the cat. Rolling his shoulders and winding back his wand arm, Pericles braced for the start of chaos.

Alan gave a roll of his eyes when Hanako made a flirty remark but in a heat of the moment decision decided to return the wink with one of his own. "Can you find a better pick up line than an insult to my cat?" he decided to challenge the viper with a light smirk. Perhaps he shouldn't be playing with fire but he found no reason not to in this moment and he has somewhat recently learned that a waiting game did not always work out in his favor and that bold decisions tended to be the way to get things done. And what was wrong with a little bit of silly fun?
The duellists seemed to be thinking similarly as the duel commenced and things quickly became complicated and it filled Alan with that familiar feeling of exhilaration. Delilah and Pericles both would go with a strong start as they unleashed wind jinxes that caught hold of all three Slytherins, though Hanako seemed to have been caught in the middle of the cross fire, what with being flanked by both his team mates and stuck in the middle of both spells. The handsome viper tried to return the favor though it seemed that he had bitten off more than he could chew as his spell fizzled out without manifesting. "What, you nervous?" Alan grinned. But similar luck befell his fellow vipers as well with Bridget failing to hit with the Body-Binding spell whereas Opeila only caught hold of Delilah with her wind jinx, despite aiming for Peri as well. Then of course there was Phaedra who used a spell Alan was quite unfamiliar with thus far. A golden mist spread over the piste and settled around Bridget and Opeila. Both girls would feel at a loss as their control over their senses escaped them. For all they knew they were floating in the air, dazed and confused. Everyone seemed so far away all of a sudden and their movements where weirdly cut off. Perhaps narrowing their eyes would help, but this feeling was bizarre as if they weren't in their right mind? How weird was that? Alan took note once more to never be on Phaedra's bad side.

Things went rather wrong rather quickly. Perhaps it was nerves that drew Hanako's spell to only a fizzle and hers to be weakly aimed. Perhaps it was the proper torrent of wind all three of them were hit with; the blast to their faces and the way it caught their clothes would probably do it, sudden and like a wake-up call with it being the first moments of the duel.
The singular silver-lining was Opeila snagging Delilah in winds of her own, but the praise she wanted to give caught in her throat as the entire world flipped. Not slowly, or nicely, and it was enough to draw a little gasp from Bridget as her head spun.
She was, how did she put this... Well, she was on the ceiling. Except there wasn't a ceiling here, only sky, and that meant she was hit with the brief fear that she was going to plummet into space. Now she recognized that was not actually happening, this was just a spell and if she wiggled her toes she could feel solid ground, but safe to say this was about the weirdest duelling experience she'd ever had. And that she was going to have a headache.
"Looking good down there, Hanako," she tried to joke, strained like she was upside down even though that wasn't really true. She realized a few seconds later this was Hanako and that would probably be interpreted wrong, because he had a certain thing with flirting, which was objectively hilarious to watch as some sort of irritation tactic. Ah, well, she'd just use whatever authority she had as captain and sic him on the other team if he went there, or something like that. She had bigger problems anyway.

The first few seconds went about as well as one would probably expect, given their year difference. Opeila was fine just long enough to feel a bit of pride when one of the two spells that erupted from her wand hit Delilah, then- the world seemed to turn.
Or... was she turning?
Suddenly she had the quite sickening feeling that she was hanging from the sky. "Oh no..." While this seemed to be more fun to ex-Quidditch player Bridget, Opeila hated this more than she hated flying. She gritted her teeth when she was also hit by a ventus, trying very hard not to fall over. Somehow the thought of falling into the sky seemed very scary.
