Premise: Unofficial Quidditch game!
Date: Saturday, 10 February 2024
Time: 14:00
Weather: Overcast, chilly and windy. Damp from earlier drizzle.
Moderator: Koko Riddle (yours truly)
Koko had organised this unofficial Quidditch event largely through the careful, strategic placement of flyers throughout the castle. She had been mildly surprised when people actually signed up, and she had gathered enough confidence to ask her friend @Ruby Cazares to join, too. Koko would be acting as referee for this game, and while she doubted she would be able to see everything, she would do her very best to ensure this game was a clean one.

The wind bit into her skin as she checked to make sure everything was ready. She wasn't wearing her Keeper gear today, so she was missing her usual protective outer layer of clothing. In fact, she had been sure to bundle up ─ she had a puffy windbreaker and leather gloves on.

Koko sat decently low in the air on her beloved Silver Arrow as she waited for today's players to arrive. The ground would be muddy and sticky when they entered. It wasn't quite cold enough for the ground to freeze.

As people started to arrive, Koko stared at her gloved hands before frowning slightly and taking her wand out of the spot it was stored in her jacket pocket. She pointed it at herself and murmured, 'Sonorus.' Her voice would then be amplified so all of the players could hear it.

'Hello everyone!' Koko almost flinched at her own voice. 'Thanks for coming today! I'm glad to have you here. I'll be your referee and commentator today. I'm Koko Riddle if you didn't know ─ Slytherin co-captain and Keeper. Please be good sports, and be sure to have fun!'

With that, she would fly away from the centre of the pitch to a spot where she could observe better, ignoring how weird it felt not to be in the action herself. 'Also, good luck to both teams! We'll start when I blow the whistle.' She would pull the small item out of her jacket's other pocket, and she would wait to blow it until everyone was ready.

Mentions of Ruby Cazares were approved by her writer.

Back when Alyssea started thinking about what sport to do at Hogwarts, Quidditch was at the bottom of her list. Never in her life did she want to play Quidditch nor did she think about wanting to play it. Broom racing was going to be the only flying sport she would tolerate and that was that.

Then, she helped Landon practice for his first ever match. She played chaser with Madison and Annie demonstrated the keeper role for Landon. Surprisingly, her luck wasn't bad and while it was much safer with the lack of bludgers flying, she believed that, for one second, she could actually be a decent Quidditch player.

As it turned out, there was a game of unofficial Quidditch happening and Alyssea took her chance. That Ravenclaw girl that duelled Raizel was playing and they both managed to convince said Gryffindor to play seeker, too. Alyssea walked down to the Quidditch training pitch, Silver Arrow in hand, and took a deep breath as she listened to Koko's instructions. Hopefully the pain of falling miles to the ground would pass quickly.

She turned to her team and gave them a thumbs up. "Win or lose, let's have a good time."

Sometimes, Raizel wonders how she always gets herself into situations like this Quidditch Match. She’s not exactly fond of the sport and has only seen a couple of games and sure, her father does talk about it sometimes but her knowledge stops there. So why on Earth is she here, holding the trusty Firebolt from who knows where she’s been picking up from, on the Quidditch Training Pitch and playing a game that she has no experience on?

Her friends were… persuasive, that’s why, especially that Ravenclaw Girl that she still doesn’t know the name of. Funny how that is her situation with her yet they still grew closer for some reason. Guess friendship works in a mysterious way. There’s an unofficial Quidditch game going on and no, Raizel wasn’t planning on joining it. If it was Broom Racing or maybe, even duelling, then she would’ve checked it out immediately but Quidditch? Just no. While it’s true that she had been curious about it at some point and maybe even voiced out that she wanted to try it, that was a long time ago and it would’ve changed by now. There was no way she’s playing in a match… but here she is, and as a Seeker too.

“This is not gonna go so well…” She is usually enthusiastic about trying out new things but she's been in low energy lately, shown by how she sometimes sports a lazy and tired look on her face. If the old Raizel was around, she would be excited and nervous about this. Oh well, she’s here now and she doesn’t want to disappoint her friends, especially when they really wanted to play in a match together. For her friends, she’ll do what she can. “But… let’s see what’ll happen.”

What an interesting situation Harmony had found herself in. It had been a common theme throughout her life that she despised physical activity and was scared of large social gatherings, but her time at Hogwarts had been slowly chipping away at this theme, which brought her here to the quidditch training pitch(again).

A while ago, some older student had advertised an unofficial quidditch match and called for students to sign up. Harmony had no intention of doing so once she’d seen how few options she had left to choose from, but @Alyssea Brown had cornered Harmony one day and, with the help of a Slytherin student@Colin McGoire, had peer-pressured convinced her to join. Unfortunately, such a long time had passed that the only positions available were second-string(and beaters! Of all things!), but the Slytherin had offered candy and a totally-not-suspicious trip the to Hospital Wing afterwards, so Harmony had sucked it up and signed up for the team Alyssea was on.

That brought her to this moment, gripping a rickety school broom and trudging across squelchy ground in the cold to where a Koko Riddle was introducing the game. Harmony broke off from most of her team then, heading to benches by the side of the pitch as the first-string players prepared to take flight. If she was lucky, she’d get to spend the game curled up and clutching her warm jacket tighter around her body, where the worst thing that could befall her would be boredom.
Mentions of Alyssea and Colin convincing Harmony to sign up were agreed on by both their writers

The wizarding sport of Quidditch was one that Ophelia had never taken part in, before today. She'd heard of it plenty of times since the first day that she attended Hogwarts, and she'd gotten an explanation of the game, but she'd never actually taken part in the action. Today would change all of that.

Sure, it was an unofficial match, not something that would make or break her Quidditch career, which Ophelia was pretty sure was nonexistent. But the excitement, and the nerves, that came with the game was enough for her. She wasn't the most sporty person, so unofficial matches were perfect.

The only problem? Ophelia knew almost no one on her team. There were a few that she knew, but how was she supposed to play properly when she kept thinking that they were going to judge her? She wouldn't. Calm down, Northwell. She told herself as she made her way onto the Quidditch pitch. You'll be fine.

So far, her experience at Hogwarts was all positive. Everyone she'd met had been either indifferent to her, or extremely nice. None of the people she would meet today, even the older years, could change that, right? She sure hoped so, because that would change her way of approaching the game.

Quinn trudged down to the quidditch training pitch over the damp ground. The wind made quinn shiver. Why did I deside to do this again? Quinn wondered. She had never acually played a game of quidditch with a full team of people against another full team of people. Quinn grabbed her broom and set off. The field was still damp from the ealirer drizzel. I feel like this might not end well. Quinn thought. She had sighned up for second string chaser hoping she wouldn't have to play. She had played a few times before but now she was quite nervous. Quinn watched as other people came to the field. She listened as a girl-Koko-talked about the match. Quinn nodded as she said the game would start when she blew the wistle. A growing nervousness was flowing through her. Quinn tugged on her hair just for something to do. The weather could have definetly been better and was making Quinn a little on edge. Why couldn't it be nice and sunny? Quinn wondered. Quinn did see some familiar faces on the feild. Quinn looked out at the goal post. She was just benched for now so she didn't acually have to do anything but her job was still important. Quinn gripped her broom. Let the game begin.

Ulysses had been a giddy idiot ever since he found out that he was picked for the Unofficial Quidditch pickup game. He hadn't heard too much about who the organizer was but, when he found out it was the Co-Captain of the Slyhterin Quidditch Team, he felt even more of flame ignite as though a whelping cracking through the shell of his draconic egg and everything until this moment had been him still awkwardly trying to hatch out.

Thankful for the borrowed Silver Arrow, it felt divine in his hands. Since being at school, Uly had been slowly accumulating his monthly allowance from his parents to purchase one for himself and he felt like in a few months, he might actually have one he could claim as his own.

Ulysses studied the list of his teammates knowing a handful in the girl who hosted the unofficial broom racing a couple months ago and even Rai, the Gryffindor who had fallen during their race that he visited in the Hospital Wing. With a studied glance, he wasn't quite able to make up the rest of the people but it didn't matter because the Slytherin howled into the air with a loud and enthusiastic glow while he looked up at the sky with a menacing glare. A little rain and wind wasn't going to stop him from enjoying the one thing he was the most excited to do at Hogwarts.

Uly moved a little closer to Rai while trudging through the muddy pit with an almost crazed look in his eye.

" C'mon Rai, let's eat them alive. "

It was clear that Ulysses has simply gone mad in a transformation from a mere mortal to something far more sinister and terrorizing, bat in hand to inflict some true and real chaos on the pit.

His last time competitively on a broom had been the Hufflepuff vs. Ravenclaw game where the badgers showed to be the better racers and yet somehow Ravenclaw had made it to the finish line first - in a fraction of a second. Sometimes Simon wished that race had occurred within the muggle world, where computer technology would catch it and record an actual number because he was skeptical that the eagles had truly soared to victory on that one and no one would be able to convince him otherwise.

But he wouldn't dwell on it. A new broom racing season would begin soon and hopefully they'd avenge that last match. They had been the broom racing champions before and they could be again. Today, however, wasn't about broom racing at all - it was time for another unofficial quidditch game.

Simon had tried his hand at beater before and that played to his dhampir strengths. He had tried the position of seeker in another game and that played to his dhampir quick reflexes. This time he would be guarding the rings as keeper and was eager to try it out.

In hand he brought two brooms, his Silver Arrow as well as one for AngelFyre and he'd give it to her just before the match began. "Fly high, fly fast, but fly safe, love" he said to her as he presented it to her. She had been on his model several times that he was certain that this broom would suit her well and she would know how to maneuver it with ease.

This unofficial quidditch game would give her a good introduction with it, as it was recently announced that she had made it on the Hufflepuff Broom Racing team.

"LET'S GO TEAM!"
he shouted, unsure if his team had a name as he glanced up at the overcast skies and smiled. Perfect weather for a dhampir during an outdoor sporting event. He took his position in front of the rings and was ready for this match to begin.

It was partially boredom that drove Cassius to sign-up for the unofficial quidditch match. Even for a Ravenclaw, all study and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Determined not to go mad in a remote snowed-in hotel, Cassius figured this was an opportunity to get him out of the castle and try a sport he had not played since first enrolling in Hogwarts. His first stint on the house team had not gone well and it had become apparent very quickly he was not destined to be a quidditch star. Still, intramurals came with much of the enjoyment of the sport with none of the pressure to earn house points. He could simply enjoy the sport for what it was.

As an avid spectator of his own hometown quidditch team in Ilkley, Cassius was not annoyed in the slightest that he would be on the bench as the second-string seeker for this particular match. Spectating was enjoyable and an opportunity to observe the tactics of the opposing team from a place of relative peace and safety. There was lots of action in quidditch but it was the tactics that Cassius enjoyed analyzing the most. How one player moved into space in a certain way. How a chaser passed to a player nobody expected. It was like duelling but on a grander scale with an entire field to consider with all its open space.

Cassius took his place on his team’s bench and glanced down the length of it to see who he recognized. Some faces were familiar. Some of those faces even came with names that he could recall. Most were in lower years than him but at least one was in his own year.

Beaming a friendly smile, he waved a hand at one Hufflepuff and fellow duellist in particular. It looked like she was on the second-string bench just as he was. “Lindsey! Hi there. What a pleasant surprise. How have you been? How is Napoleon?”

Quidditch was the last thing Nellie had ever expected to join. That was mostly because up until a few months ago, she hadn't known it existed. On finding out about the sport, she'd been intrigued enough to mention it to Howard, the Hufflepuff captain. And now, well, here she was. The realitively shy girl was not particularly athletic by most standards, but it was never too late to change that.

It was chilly out. Damp, too. Not every really the best combination, but those playing would likely be kept warm from exertion. Nellie, however, was second string. As such, she'd chosen to wear a sweatshirt over her normal clothes- something that could easily be removed when, and if, it was her time to protect the rings.

In any case, she was glad for the moment to get her nerves under contol from the bench. Broom in hand, she made her way that direction, smiling at people she passed. This might have been a giant mistake, but she wasn't the type to back down, either. She would not turn around and leave, though at the moment she desperately wanted to.

Her voice was quiet when she spoke, likely only those nearby would hear her. "Good luck everyone." She was going to be sick.
