History:
Reducio
Aurélie was the only child of Élodie and Augustin Duval. Which means that she grew up all alone. Since both of her parents were extremely doting, she grew up suffocated under their affections. From the minute she was born, she was the center of their attention. They wouldn't leave her alone for a second, not wanting to waste a moment of her childhood.

While Aurélie enjoyed the attention in the beginning, trying to make her parents proud at every step of her life, she soon grew tired of it. She didn't get a single minute to herself and this bothered her. And though she knew that her parents only meant well, she decided, at the age of six, to sit down and have a talk with them.

As anyone could imagine, the "talk" didn't go as well as young Aurélie had wanted. Her parents were anxious, confused, and, most of all, disappointed in her. From then on, though they tried to reduce their overprotectiveness, they did little to improve it.

That was why Aurélie decided to spend more time outdoors. Since her parents were both introverts, they didn't get many party invitations, except for the general pureblood occasions. She made as many friends as possible and did her best not to coddle them like her parents had to her. She chose only specific people to get close to so that she wouldn't feel the same way again either.

Aurélie stayed close to her parents, but couldn't wait to attend magic school so she could meet more people. She became ecstatic after receiving her acceptance letter.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
Aurélie first experienced magic at the age of eight. She had just broken her right arm by falling out of a tree, skipping two days of school as a result. One of her neighbors had sent her the past days' homework and Aurélie had sat at the dining table, looking at it in disgust. She couldn't write with her left hand, so she had to wait for her mother to come down and help her. Staring at the first page, she saw the blank where she had to write her name and closed her eyes, pained, wishing that she'd never been foolish enough to climb that tree. Now she couldn't even write in the answers in her homework sheet. When she opened her eyes, she'd been stunned to see that her name had in fact written itself upon the sheet, in the same loopy handwriting as her own. She blinked, but the words were still there. Aurélie blinked again, but this time, when she opened her eyes, the words were gone.
Aurélie was born in the bustling metropolis of Paris but was raised in Marseille, which she now considers her true home.

Aurélie Nathalie Duval, for as long as she could remember, had always been a small girl. She had baby fat in her cheeks compared to all her friends who had outgrown theirs years ago. She had tiny limbs that could reach nothing unlike everyone else her age, who stood over her like giants. She had a pouty face that always reminded those whose gaze landed on hers of an infant unlike everyone else's matured faces. And Aurélie didn't like it. Because no matter how much she tried, growing wasn't something that no one could control.

"You will grow, my love. You will grow to a point where you will be towering over everyone else." Her mother, Élodie, would tell her lovingly. But Aurélie had stopped believing in her mother's fake words of affection quite early in life. If it wasn't possible for her to grow larger and better and bigger overnight, like everyone else, she set out to make sure that her smallness wouldn't affect her life. And no one could stop Aurélie when she was on a mission.

It was a slow process, and it took a lot of guts. Each moment that Aurélie hesitated to do something because she thought she was too small, she would get angry at herself. If everyone else could do it, she would think, so could I. And so she did. Every day she would do the impossible. She would climb trees and jump off them, trying her best not to be scared of the fall. She would run around for hours on end, not stopping until her body physically gave up, and then she would lay there, panting and staring up at the night sky. She would go into tight spaces where no one else would go and touch spiders when no one else would dare. She would laugh in the face of danger and scoff when someone said she was too small to do something.

It took a while, but soon, everyone forgot how small she was, how they were more powerful and tough. They forgot that they could probably do everything that she could better, just because they were bigger and stronger. And they forgot because Aurélie had learned how to master her fear. Now, it no longer plagued her. Sometimes, the moments of weakness would come and she would be reminded of her days before she'd steeled herself, but she would quickly gain control once again and become fearless once more.
