Three's a Duel
“In a duel, man to man, sword against sword, it can be a lack of skill that gets you killed.
Often as not, though, it'll be a matter of luck.” - Mark Lawrence| @Archer Duncan @Sere Nade @Lyanna Oak | November 2nd '25 | 10AM |
┏ ┓ Heads turned in the Duel Room as a diverse group gathered near a piste: Archer Duncan of Slytherin, Sere Nade of Gryffindor, Lyanna Oak from Hufflepuff, and the Ravenclaw Pericles Dralt. Both lion and snake took the stage opposite the older eagle, with the watchful badger stationed alongside as moderator. Two third-years versus one seventh-year made for intriguing odds. A few students along the sidelines broke away from their practice to spectate, pointing and muttering from the bleachers, the more opportunistic among them placing bets. Pericles knew better than to underestimate his juniors. He bowed to both in grim gratitude, appreciative of the chance to practice his abilities, albeit all-too aware of the violence they were all bound to bond through. The trio had agreed on duelling to unconsciousness or forfeit. If they were fortunate, whatever injuries they incurred would be mended well before lunch. Assuming a grounded stance, Pericles' wand leveled on the empty space between Archer and Sere, breath drawn and held while he waited for Lyanna's mark. An incantation coiled on the tip of his tongue, yet what spell lay in wait for them was anyone's guess. The mage had been splitting spells at multiple targets, flinging magic without his wand, and often honed his aim from behind a blindfold. He made no effort to keep his advantages secret, supposedly because he imagined they wouldn't be capable of doing much about them.┗ ┛ Please send your actions to Lyanna! The deadline is 10 days from her mod post.

Three's a Duel
Date : November 2nd, 2025 Color code : Written|Thought|Said Sere's identity today vacillated between 'an ambitious girl eager to learn new things' and 'a stubborn girl desperate to atone for her own stupidity'. She was still very much a Gryffindor with a keen interest in duelling and a strong desire to continually hone her skills in the sport, but part of her over-ambitious behaviour stemmed from her devastating performance in the recent Fall Games. Sure, she had been on the piste, standing strong until the end, but being on the cold, blood-soaked floor without even managing to land a single hit on your opponent (and even failing to cast a spell to heal her teammates) was definitely not the sweet ending she had expected to come.
Alright, enough with merely spectating other duellists. I couldn't just stand still and watch while my own performance went worse. I have to train myself back on the piste.
Now, the lioness stood side by side with a fellow duellist she had only heard his name before: Archer Duncan. She had never interacted with the Slytherin, as far as she could remember, but having duelled against the other Viridian Vipers left her with no doubt about his skill. They surely had set their standard in this sport. One skill she had to doubt the most under the recent circumstances was hers. Moreover, her opponent today was a seventh-year Ravenclaw: Pericles Dralt. His presence was impossible to miss throughout the entire school; from the Broom Racing Tracks to the Headliner's Office. Im other words, she was facing a legend.
"It's such an honor," Sere said, bowing as she offered everyone on the piste a small smile. She gave her attention, following the instructions of Lyanna Oak -today's moderator- with one initial action locked in her mind.Action : will be sent ASAP

Three's a Duel
How masochistic it was of Archer to sign up to fuelling of his own accord — without nagging teammates or encouraging captains. Yet still he found himself willingly, through word of mouth and acquaintances, signing up to duel against Hogwarts’ own seventh year and connoisseur of esoterica, Pericles Dralt. He arrived with his heart on a tight leash and the desperation to at least act like it was not beating out of his chest. It was more than likely he would fall today — he would rather his dignity not fall with it.
Both his teammate and his moderator were two students he was unfamiliar with, yet he would have to make do considering the tight circumstances. Maybe it was time for some bribes, he mused, but even galleons could not save him today. What was this life; curse his ill choices. He had barely won his own duels, and even in a two Against one, would probably barely win this, if at all.
The least he could do, however, was feign some semblance of confidence. Scowling as he entered the piste, he attempted to turn the frown inside out and smile for Sere, more a wolf bearing his teeth than anything else.

I am not even singed. My wings are untouched. You use them for everything, except flight.
