First Yearx↞ Reducio Maverick's first year at Hogwarts was rather uneventful. He got to know his new school, learnt to live far from the adults he usually received help from, and made both friends and enemies. He got quite a lot of injuries from speeding on his broom and trying tricks when flying, but never in troubles that earned him detention. For Christmas, Uncle Francesco got him a beautiful Firebolt which quickly became Maverick's trusted broom. The Gryffindor was admitted as a reporter and editor to the Hogwarts Headliner, his school's official newspaper, on the second semester of his first year.

↠xPre-Hogwarts  Reducio Maverick Charles Apollo Castle (born in London, 11 August 2011) was the only child of Darrin and Jean 'Jeannie' Castle. Darrin, an aspiring actor, often practised and had rehearsals during the day and performed in theatres in the evenings; whereas Jeannie, a travelling salesperson (a career she had chosen thanks to her charms and interpersonal skill), spent much time chatting with her business partners and friends alike. This resulted in their son Maverick not seeing his parents often, and he was mostly taken care of by his nannies. Being a difficult child, the boy had caused and experienced several changes in his nannies, as many of them gave up and resigned. Before coming to Hogwarts, along with several fellow little wizards and witches, Maverick was tutored basic (elementary school-level) knowledge and skills by a neighbour who had once been a professor. As patient as she was, the tutor realised her responsibilities and would let the children know if they had done something wrong, sometimes in a high voice as well. Maverick, though, being a bossy kid, perceived this as an attempt to order him around and decided that he did not like her. He was an intelligent student though, but very slow in finishing assignments (in particular when they came to maths) simply because he had no interest in his schoolwork. As with the school tasks, the boy would eat his vegetables slowly as he grumbled, but finish his desserts and snacks in no time at all. Even though both his parents were wizards, Maverick was quite familiar with the Muggle world since an uncle he was very close with was a Squib. He liked sports and speed, and fell in love with motorcycles at a very young age. One of his favourite memories was when this favourite uncle of his took him in a high speed on a motorbike at a countryside one holiday.
