If you're gonna do it, do it right. If you're gonna hype it, hype it with the facts. (William Goldman)

First time to visit the Headliner office properly. Maverick wondered how it looked like, how the visit would turn out, and how his new fellow staff members were like. Did the room look like newspaper offices he had seen in Muggle films? Or did it resemble the Muggle high school newspaper headquarter he had once spotted in a magazine at a public library?

There was no denying that the first year was excited about this new extracurricular activity of his. Hyped, even. But even though he was, and despite the fact that he was usually a carefree individual, a part of him was nervous about messing things up. He really did not want to get fired, and lost all of the privileges that came with this position. Maverick Castle loved being admired, and being a reporter for Hogwarts' official newspaper was like a silver ticket for it, or perhaps even golden.

He arrived, the view of the office door reflected in forest green eyes. The Gryffindor was certain he was supposed to knock it, but would it be more appropriate for him to wait until someone opened it for him, or to just push it by himself?

Perhaps I'll just wait for a minute, he decided. If no one is to come until then, I'll take care of this door myself.

The world is in despair not because there are many bad people, but because there are many good people who do nothing.

Dee honestly didn't spend a lot of time in the Headliner office. She went there to drop things off and pick things up, but most of her writing happened elsewhere. She liked featuring interviews in her articles, and simply sitting in a room was also just... not particularly inspiring, you know?

Thus, she was once again on the way out after having just spent a few minutes inside the office itself, her notebook in hand, which was getting increasingly tattered as time went by. There were notes stuck between pages, other pages torn out, corners bent and edges worn. In short, it had seen a lot of good use over the past two years, and if you leafed through it, you would be able to find the tracks of all the articles she had written since she'd joined the school newspaper.

Thoughts already with the next piece, the one she was planning, with only rough ideas penned down so far, she yanked open the door with all of her usual energy and almost walked into the kid standing right outside in the hallway.

Dee blinked, then blinked again and looked downwards. Short, likely young, his robes marked him as a Gryffindor, and Dee could not remember having seen him before. He was standing in front of the office like he was waiting for something, and she cocked her head, an eyebrow raised. "Yes?" she asked, just a hint of impatience in her voice. "Do you need something?"

Maverick snapped his head as he heard a voice behind him, asking if he needed something. The speaker turned out to be a teenage girl, and as usual, the Gryffindor made a quick first decision regarding her appearance, something he often did to people his eyes spotted. The boy decided that he liked the colour of her hair, but not the waves or the length. Why did girls obsess over long hair when those with short hair were more attractive? This was one thing he could not understand, but he had no interest in seeking the answer, anyway. But trying to persuade people about his opinion, now that was another matter.

But back to what was currently happening. All the thoughts he had was processed in less than a second in his brain, so Maverick Castle did not stand there looking like an idiot who did not give an immediate answer when one asked him a question. On the contrary, he was very ready to answer the moment she finished speaking.

"I'm waiting for someone to answer and open the door," he said matter-of-factly. "It isn't polite to just open it by myself, is it? That is, considering I'm just a newcomer here." After finished replying, he flashed her a smile, the one he had practised a lot in front of a mirror to get the effect he desired. It may be useful to charm his seniors to have an easier time at his new 'workplace'.
