♠ A Name ♠ Alptraum. A strange surname, seeing as it is the German word for nightmare. It was a name given to, and later adopted by, a small group of nobodies looking to make something of themselves. ...Words go here. So many words. Look at all those words. They were outcasts: thieves, oddities, bogeymen- a conglomeration of different beings from the darker walks of life. And so they were marked with the name Alptraum- for the nature in which they chose to portray. For years they terrorized the small German village, before setting their sights on bigger game: London. Word had spread like wildfire, that London was the place to go if you were looking to get rich. Riches could only keep people happy for so long. With time, gold lost it's shine. The halls of the ancestral house grew cold. The family disbanded one by one. Some members went back to Germany. Others simply up and left; never to be seen, or heard from again. In a matter of months, the clan became nothing more than a small group; much like the one they had grown from. The numbers continued to dwindle, until there were only two members of the Alptraum fellowship left: the founder, and their closest friend. Rather than go their separate ways like the rest had done; the remaining two unified; to pave a path for one. Together they laid down the foundation for a new family. A real family. One that would not break so easily. No longer was Alptraum just a word whispered in the dead of night between wary souls; it was a name. The start of a story. A new legacy.

It has been allowed to grow out over the years. It presently reaches a little past hip-length, where it brushes ever-so-slightly past her thigh when loose. Texture || Silky and satiny. Very soft, like the downy feathers on a baby duck. It reflects a healthy sheen.----- Style || Neat- but deceivingly wild- with bangs. The long tresses cascade freely into straight, modest wefts which curl playfully upwards at their tips- save for a single hair that continually bobs on the top of her head like some sort of antennae. Eyes || Her most expressive feature by far. Captivating- they are that of a dreamer. The irises are a little larger than normal, and are gold in hue. Her pupils are drawn into a cat-like slit. In low lighting, they may appear to glow, or reflect an iridescent sheen. Lips || Rosy and heart-shaped. They are small and full, often a bit pouty. They can form the prettiest smile or- if bitter- the meanest snarl. Nose || Strong, and narrow, with a straight bridge. Petite. She has pale pinpricks on her hands; they are always covered by gloves, and a star-burst mark on her left shoulder from a Hag-Slug bite. Too young for tattoos at the moment, will likely get none in the future either. Aura || Entirely and utterly alien. Dark, yet serene; unmistakably intimidating. Suitable for both classical and swanky tunes. Her German accent is most prominent when singing.

Scent: Primarily smells of an exotic and tantalizing blend of: fennel, vanilla, frost, still midnights, cool moonlight, glittering stardust, and butterscotch. Accompanied by the faint scents of: silver polish, nightshade, sweet light tea, warm notes of honey, lotus flower, ritual incense, and electricity(?).

Stride: Graceful and drifting, regal and otherworldly. She emanates a natural aura of femininity and power. She moves like smoke through a keyhole, and walks with quiet steps. May sound like a little bell and the glitter of coins if in earshot.

Handedness: Ambidextrous, does not favor left or right. Excellent and extremely dexterous with her hands.

Liquid twilight. Smooth, and slick, bearing a honey-like consistency. Black as night, with an odd sheen on its surface resembling that of an oil slick or pen ink. Very tiny, star-like, golden bubbles can be seen dancing throughout the potion, as well as on its sleek surface. In relation to its appearance it also tastes a bit like ink, and carries sweet, but slightly bitey undertones. It is unmistakably dark, and foreboding, but very enticing all the same. It will undoubtedly have its drinker wanting to take another sip. ───────────────────────── Smells of the things Xailah adores most in this world. The scents while mostly bizarre, are familiar and comforting to her; though there is one that cannot be easily identified. There are three prominent smells, but the first that catches the nose is a metallic one. Metal, and rust- an expression of her love for silverware, machines, and winding gadgets; especially those that have been lost and are in need of a little extra care. Then comes a gentle tickle of something sweet and dark- something with an aroma akin to fennel; followed by the smell of warm pancake syrup. Lastly there is the musky scent of some sort of hair product, cologne, or perhaps an aftershave. It is the one scent she seems to be unable to pinpoint. ───────────────────────── Varies. Sometimes it appears as a female figure, its shape akin to a mannequin: tall, slim, featureless, entirely and utterly perfect. It reflects Xailahs fears and desires- her struggle with her metamorphic talents, and vain temptations, and the overhanging dread of them resulting in a loss of self. This form is a rare one for her boggart to take. Should the boggart reside in something with doors; it is likely to take on a more ominous form. The door will remains shut, however firelight and smoke will be seen billowing out of crevices. Thumping comes from the interior, implying something is trying to escape. The third and newest boggart is either: an ominous cage seemingly awaiting a victim, or a cage containing a large restless panther. The area of the boggart determines the form taken, but both illusions imply that they are the product of the same fear.

Cats Grace: Xailah has always had a stealthy and cat-like aura about her. She is essentially a master of stealth in the making. Xailah can enter threads hidden from other users. There is a 25% chance of this being successful. This can be countered by those with Sixth Sense where if she enters the topic successfully hidden, they get a roll to see if they detect her anyways. She would no longer be considered hidden if she attempts to communicate or interact with the environment in any ways (such as trying to steal something or hit someone). On any stealth checks, she has a +2 to her stealth.

Blindvision: A life lived in the dark has given Xailah the ability to see without her eyes. She has learned to thrive in places untouched by light. Xailah can see in magical and in non-magical darkness. Illusionary, non-corporeal effects do not have an effect on her. This does not replace her visual sight.

Often an unsung hero in any mess Xailah found herself in, Schrödinger displayed a level of care and loyalty no person matched. He was there at her lowest points, and lifted her to the greatest heights. He was steadfast when no one else was, and he reveled in the influence she brought to the world. Sometimes a best friend is not who claims to be such. Sometimes a best friend is the quietest of creatures, who's companionship is unconditional... so long as they get fed three squares a day, of course. Confidant || Meadow. She was a keeper of many secrets, even in childhood. Even when tempted and challenged, she never once spoke a word of what she had promised to keep. Xailah knows that all things will be safe with her sister Meadow. Xailah would do the same for her sibling in return, should she ever need to; as she knows that secret-keeping is no small burden. Civil Status || Single. Uninterested. Unattached. Not looking. You'd have a much easier time attempting to nail Jell-O to a tree. Crush || None. Has never had one, will not have one. Annoyances || REEEE. None yet. Treasured || Ruby. Placeholder, placeholder. Indebted || Illowy Magnard. Illowy is a presence that Xailah owes much of her investigation success to. The snake had been there since the beginning, bearing witness to the many undiscovered horrors Hogwarts had to offer. Illowy understood urgency and the significance of unusual decisions. Many a times Illowy was a muse and a driving force that inspired persistence. Should Illowy ever need to call upon Xailah for any reason, the metamorph would happily be willing to oblige. A favor for a favor, a secret for a secret. Beloved || None! (this is reserved for when/if she has her kid).

Xailah is a drifter by nature, and a truly wild thing at her core. One will never find her among a consistent group, however, her contacts stretch widely, anchored to no specific person. Her commitments lie with herself, chosen kin, and those bound by blood.

Unmatched elegance and catty curiousness make many regard her as an affable, if unusually charming, companion; should they summon the will to get past her intimidating aura. Often whispering in the ears of those willing to listen, she pulls influence like a spider does silk; allowing her to inspire even the most immovable of minds. Although mostly harmless in her suggestive nature, it is undeniably clear that she is often a serpent in Eden with her propensity for planting seeds. Placeholder placeholder...

He backed her up when she was having a stand-off with Charles, and because of that she has taken a strong liking to him. She would have liked to pursue a friendship with him, but they fell out of touch.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Charlie Woodward: A rather charming boy. Xailah met him in the library, where she quickly took an interest in him. He was nice enough to exchange some information about muggle life, and fix a old pocketwatch that Xailah had found.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Aurelia Notrésvace: Aurelia is an interesting individual, who appears to hate Xailahs beloved cat; due to having allergies to his fur. She is Xailahs roommate, and is a constant victim of Xailahs need to steal. Xailah has no opinion of Aurelia, other than she finds her weird. She does think that Aurelia is rather pretty though.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Raine Sage: Seems to be a nice girl, and appears to be friends with Arc. She helped out with the Blossom Ball situation.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Griseldis Edelhardt: Fellow Prefect. Xailah knows little about Gris, but the girl appears to be very nice, and is apparently popular amongst the other prefects.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Violine Thomas: Violine was met during a Valentines Day event. The girl sat down at Xailahs table, seemingly by accident. Xailah finds the girl odd, seeing that she is indecisive. She does not see the girl in a positive or negative light.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Piérre Marchonné: Xailah ran into Piérre, while tracking a student who had gone into the Caretakers Office. Xailah does find Piérre, exceedingly annoying, but finds that he has some use despite playing the part of the fool. She doesn't dislike him, but she does enjoy trying to put him in his place for her own amusement. For now he is merely something for her to mess with.[/font]

Xailah managed to keep the boys identity hidden when Charles started pursuing information. She likes the boy, but would like to know more about him, and maybe pursue a friendship with him. Unfortunately Xailah and November fell out of touch.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Koko Riddle: This young Slytherin was encountered one cold night. Xailah likes the girls art. Because they only spoke briefly, she is unsure if she likes the girl. Koko Riddle was later encountered at the Blossom Ball Dance Floor.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Illowy Magnard: This girl accompanied Isaac Ambrose, when he was looking for Xailah, during the 2019 Blossom Ball. Xailah likes Illowy, despite the fact that their second meeting in Rotting Blossoms was mildy awkward.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Nico Shymane: Sweet thing, with lots of talent. Thats about all Xailah knows about her, other than the fact that she's a fellow prefect.[/font]

[font=Monotype Corsiva]Arc Perscivious: Xailah ran into this boy at the Blossom Ball. She finds him interesting, and would like to know more about him. He was nice enough to try and gather some information on a situation at the ball.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Kaegen Deathmote: Xailah had met up with this boy with intentions to hurt him. Thinking that she could trick him into a needed friendship, he refused. He later questioned what she was, which touched a nerve with her. After some self-reflection she came to the conclusion that he wasn't the worst person in the world. He's just a little broken is all.[/font]

Dinara went after Xailah, during the events that took place at the Blossom Ball Dance Floor event; and instead of trying to hold a civilized conversation with her; she decided to shout at Xailah. Xailah doesn't like the girls voice, but it turns out that Dinara isn't completely horrible. Xailah admires the fact that Dinara is actually quite caring, and is able to share things (her handkerchief) with those who need it. And while these might be small virtues, they are important when considering the fact that; Xailah has issues when it comes to sharing. Dinara was a former prefect.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Jack Warren: This boy was met during the Masquerade ball. Xailah only spoke to him briefly, so she has no opinion of him really. The boy somehow managed to get a position amongst the other prefects.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Leah Isbell: Like Jack, the girl was met during the Masquerade ball. Leah had approached Xailah, so she could pet Schrödinger. The two spoke briefly, before Xailah went to handle the situation with Kaegen and Aurelia. Leah seems like a very sweet girl, and if they were to ever meet again in the future, Xailah would be happy to have Leah as a friend.[/font]

Both girls seem to get along very well, and have a sort of little sister, big sister, dynamic- though embarrassingly enough, Xailah sometimes finds herself trying to mother the girl. Ruby is an incredibly sweet thing, who looks to understand the missunderstood. Xailah is glad to call her a friend.[/font]

[font=Monotype Corsiva]Pericles Dralt: While he may have considered her his best friend for a good portion of his time at Hogwarts, it was hard to say the sentiment was ever truly reciprocated. Often feeling indifferent in regard, and handling him with the same superficial friendliness that she extended towards everyone she met, Xailah allowed him to accompany her and her social groups. His aversion to change and favor towards regimen, however, made her distance herself from him in time.[/font]
[font=Monotype Corsiva]Ruthie Greer: Xailah didn't know too much about Ruthie, but she seemed like a nice girl. Ruthie was a former prefect. What happened to her?[/font]

Xailah would have liked to know more about the girl; but seeing that the child seems to have disappeared, that wish is now obsolete. [/font]

General: I will never roleplay anything that breaches site rules. Simple as that. I'm pretty lax, and am okay with mostly anything so long as it doesn't push boundaries, or break our PG-13 rating. There are a few things however, that will be a hard no from me. Anything listed in my "Never" preferences are nonnegotiable. Don't try to push things please.
Violence & Combat: I am fine with violence so long as it makes sense, and doesn't breach site rules obviously. I'm indifferent towards gore and light violence/trauma. If you choose to engage in combat with my character, I would prefer dice to be used to determine the outcome of the fight (unless something else was agreed upon prior). Know that if you randomly attack my character, she will defend herself. No auto-hits (unless agreed upon). No mutilation (unless main story related, and consent is given). No dismemberment, no limb loss, and no death of my character.
OOC & IC: Please keep OOC and IC separate. It should go without saying, I am not my character, and my character is not me. What happens IC should never apply to anything OOC. But if you have problems with something, feel free to reach out. In addition be respectful, please don't act possessively towards me OOC. That kind of behavior will literally chase me away.
Romance: Xailah is a straight, demiromantic-asexual. She was never created with romance in mind, and as an aroace myself, its not a topic I typically enjoy writing- in other words, I truly don't care for the genre. But, if it happens, it happens- although it is super unlikely all things considered. Relationships, platonic or otherwise, should develop naturally. Xailah does not, and has never, had any crushes, and I do not intend to write her with any, so please do not ask. That said, feel free to have your character shoot their shot; just know that all crushes/romantic advancements will be one-sided, as my character is selectively oblivious to that realm of interactions. She may act like she likes a character, but its more likely she is just being friendly, or said character has something she needs. Commitment and fidelity have never been Xailah's strong points, she "dates" around very casually and is notorious for not defining her relationships, as she often sees people as friends even if they think or believe otherwise. Crushes from female at birth, and female identifying characters will never be pursued or reciprocated. They just don't click for this OC. The same applies to characters that are too similar to Xailah in personality or appearance- seriously, there's a problem if they could be mistaken for relatives, just- no thanks. Pining is fine, I don't care, but understand that Xailah will never have an interest in people that fall in any of the aforementioned categories. And as a side-note, please don't try to force narratives because its what you want OOCly. I don't appreciate it and my character sure as hell won't. That behavior is extremely unsettling. Bear in mind that I do not do exclusive shipping- I play this character on multiple sites, she may develop other relationships as a result!!!
Godmodding: Generally this is frowned upon in all roleplay settings, and I really don't appreciate it. I only allow light godmodding, by those I trust with my character. For example, consensually leading my character to another area. I'm fairly lax when it comes to some things requiring light consent, because I can always remove Xail from the situation if she's not feeling it. So you can shoot your shots or whatever (without OOC permission), but she'll likely walk away.
Metagaming: Your character will not know every detail about mine. Metagaming happens sometimes, thats understandable especially with how large the site is, but please try to abstain from applying OOC knowledge to IC. If you want your OC to know something about mine (such as family life, abilities, secrets/knowledge, ect), that information will have to be given in a thread.
Blood Relations: The only blood relation that will ever happen is when Xailah has a child. That's it. I don't care for the whole AU thing when it comes to family matters. While Xailah does exist in other settings, and there are differences, there is a point where she "merges". All blood relatives will be the same in all of her settings. Connections do carry over (sometimes). Because of this, I like to keep Xailah's family ties all nice and tidy. In order for another character to be related to her by blood, we would have to discuss how the two would be related in her original settings- which is not something that would be easy to explain considering who and what she is in those settings.

♦The Name Game: Xailah has always struggled with her name, mostly the fact that it has virtually no meaning. She also lacks a middle name, which makes her feel very out of place. After a long, rough day, a frustrated Xailah- on the verge of tears- flees for the library in search for comfort. She demands books on baby names, but is unable to obtain any. The sort of comfort she seeks is unclear at first, but is later revealed when someone comes to her aid and calms her down. She explains that she wants to choose a middle name for herself. With the help of another character, she picks one. A very close relationship, and knowledge on names is required for this roleplay. Owl or DM if interested. Partners found!
♦Cooking By the Book: There are several ways for this one to start, and this can be discussed and adjusted to whoever is interested. But basically, Xailah attempts to cook something. Another character joins her, and together they try to make something truly delectable- a dish Michelin Star chef Gordon Ramsay would choke someone for. Let the chaos begin. This is another fun thread. Nothing serious. Cooking knowledge is not required. Character may or may not be assaulted with spices and dough if things go wrong. Partner found!
♦Ask the Eight-Ball: Xailah (or maybe she and another student) finds a strange object that seems to have the ability to answer any questions it is asked. The children take turns firing questions and receiving answers from the Magic 8-Ball. This is intended to be a goofy scene, with no linear plot. Just kids being kids. Partner found!
