How to create iNPC?
Application for iNPCs
Remember:
- Make sure that you create a character that you are happy with.
- You only get 1 iNPC attached to your player account
- You will only be able to deactivate your iNPC separately from your PC once.
- If you’ve already deactivated solely your iNPC once, the only way to get a new iNPC is by getting a new character through the DEACTIVATION process where your character is deactivated and you then decide to attached a new iNPC to your new PC account.
- Your iNPC will be the same year or younger as your player character. The minimum possible year is first year student.
- Players must be registered with Index to create an iNPC.
- Players must have maintained the same main character account for a minimum of 6 months to create an iNPC.
- Any iNPC that you create needs to be the same year or younger as you are presently.
- iNPCs may have a special ability (such as Seer or Parselmouth) or special race (such as part Veela or part Giant) if they apply for this on initial creation. This is a recent change (2024), prior to this schools did not admit students with special abilities or races. If you create an iNPC of a special race and wish for them to attend the school as first year prior to September 2024, please include explanation of how your iNPC character was able to do this, by describing what education they had before joining in 2024 to keep them in line with other students. or how they hid their abilities. This requires a 500 w/c application

Steps to follow to create iNPC sub-account:
1. Create encyclopedia page of your iNPC character using your PC account.
2. Post in iNPC school registration thread with filling the form you can find below:
1. Create encyclopedia page of your iNPC character using your PC account.
2. Post in iNPC school registration thread with filling the form you can find below:
Name: Nothing from the sacred 28. No plagiarizing names from other fandoms.
PC Account Name: Your main character (account) name.
Year: Must be the same year or younger as you are presently.
Link to your Character Page: The link to your iNPCs ency. If you haven't created one yet, please proceed with it from your PC account before registering.
Status: Muggleborn, Halfblood, Wizardborn, Pureblood
Residence: This should be the place your character currently lives.
Nationality: This should be the nation which your character belongs to.
History: We are looking for at least 200 words describing their history. This is their life, their family. Their upbringing. This is separate from their personality and their appearance. This is not their ambitions or aspirations, this is the story of their life and the story of their life being reduced to a mere few hundred words should not be able to give their life justice. We want a well-thought out character. Please remember, they do not have awesome special powers that nobody else has. Also, please remember that your background needs to make sense, we will not accept purebloods that were raised as muggles without a very good reason and a detailed explanation on how this happened and why this happened. Idle interest, the vague statement of normalcy or protection will not cut it.
First Magic: We do need a few sentences on their first magic as well. Remember, this will be your first instance of underaged, unintentional, wandless magic before you start school.
Is your character a Quidditch player/Broom racer/Duelist? This applies if you are any of the schools. Players with an already created NPC from can state that their iNPC is a quidditch player/Broom racer/Duelist. Your sport choice (broom racing, quidditch, dueling) for your NPC can be the same as your PC. This is a binary YES/NO. Please remember that you can only be in one sport as an iNPC.
Stats: They should add up to what you can have for your year if you were human or having Special Race/Talent. So if you create a Special Race/Talent iNPC, you should have 5 less stats in total than if you were human. Wins from games (quidditch, broom racing, dueling) by your player character or NPC do not apply to your other account.
Special Race/Ability: To be accepted for a special ability such as Parselmouth or Seer or a special race (such as a Dhampir or part Goblin) you would need to apply for this on initial character registration. You MUST add a 500 word application for this if you choose this for your character.
If special race/ability, how did they join the school? If they are a first year from Sept 2024, they would be accepted normally. If they are not a first year, please include 50 words on how they transferred into the school or hid their abilities.
You can register for your iNPC here:Code: Select all

3. Wait for the iNPC team to approve your application and add you to the school roster. Do not create iNPC sub-account before iNPC team approved your application.
4. After getting owl from iNPC team member that your registration application was approved, you can create sub-account and go through the validation as you were doing when creating your PC account.
Note: Please include a note with the following information at the top of your iNPC's biography:
- Name of your PC
- School
- Year
- Nationality
- Residence
- Link to the iNPC encyclopedia
- Sport (if applicable)
- Special Race (if applicable)
Before applying, you should create your iNPC's encyclopedia in the Encyclopedias forum. Do not create your iNPC's encyclopedia until you are ready to apply for your iNPC.
Your iNPC encyclopedia must have at a minimum two posts. The first, your main encyclopedia page which should follow the basic conventions of player encyclopedias in terms of content (appearance, history, personality, any aesthetics you want). You can edit this post for aesthetic purposes, but you would need to re-register your character here if you make any backstory changes. The second post, your "trunk". This is where your character's stats and abilities would be stored. The rules for iNPC trunks is the same as PC Trunks, and you can find those rules here. Once approved, the trunk post cannot be edited by yourself, you will need to post an update for this in the trunk update thread.
Due to the papertrails we have on creation and with your updates, we will know if something conflicting is snuck in, so please do not do it. People that sneak things in will be asked to edit or possibly lose their iNPC privileges.

How to create iNPC?
FAQs:
Can I move my iNPC to my new account if I deactivate?
Can I move my iNPC to a new account, then return to my old account and get a new iNPC?Yes, you can attach your iNPC to your new account if you wish. It would then be tied to both accounts. There are some limitations to this of course, we have restrictions regarding what year the iNPC can be next to your player character. So if you have a year three player character and make an iNPC, it would also be not older than year three character. When you deactivate and make a new character, your iNPC is too old/high in years for you to take onto your new account as a first year. You would have to wait until you are the same year (player character and iNPC as they will stay frozen in that year but still age, think of it as being 'held back.') to use that iNPC in events. You may state your intent when iNPCs applications open so at the passage of the year the transition is official. This can be very sticky and tricky, it is vastly preferred that you stick with your characters and develop them but we do make some efforts to accommodate players but there are limitations to our setting and systems.
I want to be an exchange student/make my iNPC my PC.No.
Can I place my iNPC into a sport like racing, quidditch or dueling? You can transfer your iNPC to your PC by transferring your iNPC to Hogwarts, and your PC to an international school. You can request this change in this thread. Your iNPC must have been at their current school for 6 months, and you can only make this type of transfer 3 times over the course of your iNPC’s school career.
When will I be able to make an iNPC or update my iNPC?Yes you can. You can only be in one sport and it can be the same as the one your player character plays. So if your player character plays quidditch, then your iNPC can broom race, duel or play quidditch. You are also able to swap out the sport that you play through the year during NPC updates.
iNPC updates are open year-round, so updates can happen at any time. However creation has two restrictions - the main account must be at least 6 months old and the main account must be registered with Index.
When do iNPCs visit Hogwarts?
What Spells Can be Found in my Trunk? This only happens a couple times a year -- this being usually the summer time (July or August, near the October Ball, finally in the spring (April or May) there will be another opportunity in time for the Blossom Ball. These are not strict dates but they are rough approximations of when and what to expect.
Will Other Schools be Available?Your character can either purchase spells in the shop or they can complete the class using our class system. We IC would assume they took a class IC in their home school but the overall material was similar.
Are there any additional considerations? No, all the schools have been released.
Can I roleplay at the iNPC schools?Yes, it is important to know that your NPC be it a faceless, dependent or independent NPC is still subject to site rules. Index has restrictions regarding aspects such as homelessness and abuse for example, these rules apply to the NPC as well. In addition, NPCs cannot be used as a vehicle to do things with your player character that are restricted. The staff reserves the right to request edits if site rules or setting is in conflict with roleplays.
Furthermore, we implore you to not make your character in haste because you will not get another and to not make your character wholly dependent on another player because you never know if they will stop roleplaying, deactivate their character or if you will no longer -want- to interface with this player in the future.
Does my iNPC have to have a separate broom from my PC?Yes, there is one forum per school located under the Wizarding World -- > Other Schools area.
Does my iNPC have to have separate potions from my PC?Yes, your character would have whatever broom is in their inventory, If they have no broom, they would have a 'school broom.'
Can my iNPC have a pet?Yes, your PC and iNPC would have their own inventory and potions.
What about my iNPC's wand?iNPCs can request pets using the same system PCs use.
Can my iNPC have a patronus?iNPC wands are determined on creation, with the exception of players that use the wandmaker ability in which case their wand would be replaced with whatever they made with the wandmaker ability.
Can my iNPC be an animagus?iNPCs can apply for a corporeal patronus - link.
Do iNPCs have classes during their time at Hogwarts? Do they attend classes with Hogwarts students?iNPCs can apply for animagus - link.
Do you have to be in the index to create an iNPC?Before leaving their schools, iNPC students are given x weeks' worth of school assignments and homework/curriculum to follow while they are at Hogwarts. During the Hogwarts class times, the iNPC students are at their lodgings or in spare classrooms doing their schoolwork and receiving instruction/help from whichever teacher is chaperoning their visit (often the Headmaster of the school). This means they do not attend classes with the Hogwarts students, to avoid problems with translation, distraction and different curriculum.
Are we allowed to have multiple posts in their encyclopedia such as threads, relationships etc. or are we only allowed one post and their trunk? You must be indexed in order to create an iNPC and be on the same active account for a minimum of 6 months.
How often can I swap iNPC accounts with my PC account?Yes, you can have multiple posts.
Are there any other restrictions to when I can apply for an iNPC-PC swap? You must wait until six months after the creation of your iNPC, as well as six months after your iNPC last transferred schools, if they have transferred before, to swap accounts. You are limited to three account swaps over the course of your characters' school career. This is separate from the three iNPC school swaps you also get, so if you want to swap accounts three times and transfer your iNPC to different international schools three times, you are welcome to as long as you wait six months between each.
Yes. You cannot transfer when either of your characters is participating in an official sport event for their school, and you will need to wait until after the sport event has concluded. For example, if your PC is on a House broom racing team and you apply to swap accounts during the spring races, then you would need to wait until the race has fully concluded to transfer, and your application would be closed until then.
I want both of my iNPC and PC students to go to the same school! Can this be done?
What if I don't want to have my character move to [x country], but I want to have them move to [x school] during an iNPC-PC transfer or an iNPC transfer between iNPC schools? No. You must have a PC account (that goes to Hogwarts) and an iNPC account (that goes to an international school). You cannot have two accounts that go to Hogwarts, two accounts that go to the same international school (i.e. two students at Tenūsa), or two accounts that go to different international schools (i.e. one at Koldovstoretz and one at Durmstrang). One account must attend Hogwarts (this will be known as your PC account) and the other must attend an international school (this will be down as your iNPC account). When one account transfers in this manner, the other will swap out at the same time so that you never have two of the same kind of account.
Can I bring my PC's pet with them if I transfer my old PC to an iNPC school? The schools will not be changing their requirements to cater to you. If you want to attend Mahoutokouro, you must live in Japan. If you want to attend Castelobruxo, you must live in Central/South America (or North America/the Caribbean, by application only). You cannot live in the UK and attend Uagadou, for example; what school you attend is based on where you live, so if you do not want to change your student's residence, you cannot change their school. You must have your student move in order to state that they have transferred.
Can I undo the transfer if I change my mind?Yes. Now that iNPCs have their own sub-accounts, they are able to have pets just like PC accounts, so your current PC will not have to lose their pet if they swap to being your iNPC at an international school. This is an automatic process, so you do not have to do anything extra for it.
Can I immediately swap my old PC/new iNPC to a different international school if I change my mind? No. Once approved, you'll need to wait six months if you wish to swap your accounts back.
If I swap my iNPC to being my PC and bring them to Hogwarts, can I change what House they were originally sorted into on their sub-account?No. Once approved, you'll need to wait six months if you wish to start another transfer for your new iNPC to attend a different wizarding school.
How did my old iNPC get to Hogwarts and get Sorted into a Hogwarts house if they didn't transfer in September? No. Whatever House your iNPC was Sorted into upon creation of the sub-account is the House they will be Sorted into upon their transfer to Hogwarts. If you are unhappy with this House, either A) don't swap them to Hogwarts or B) roleplay their disappointment at not being in the House they wanted. You cannot switch Houses.
If I swap my iNPC to being my PC and bring them to Hogwarts, can I automatically land my same spot on the sports team in my new House as the spot I had back in the iNPC school previously? For instance, I was a first-string Chaser back at [x school], can I be a first-string Chaser for [x House] now?If your old iNPC/new PC transferred over the summer (July-August) and would start school on Sep. 1 with the rest of the population, you are free to post in the year's Sorting thread and state that they rode the Hogwarts Express and were Sorted in front of the whole school with the new first-years. However, if your old iNPC/new PC transferred at any other point during the school year (Sep 2 through the end of June), your student would have arrived in Hogsmeade on the Mystic Pullman, where a staff member would have been waiting to pick them up and escort the student to the headmaster's office for a private Sorting. Afterwards, the student would have been taken to their new common room. This does not mean you can godmod Lear, however - if you would like to write your iNPC being sorted and mention him or any other staff member, you must reach out for permission.
Can both of my characters keep their sports spots when they transfer to the new schools? No, unless there is a spot open. The waitlists for sports will remain first-come, first-served at Hogwarts and at iNPC schools. When you transfer from an iNPC school to Hogwarts, you will have to manually go to your new House forum and sign up for whatever sport spot you want, whereupon you will be added to the waitlist and have to wait your turn. If there is a spot open, though, sure, you can go sign up immediately and be added, but it's still your responsibility to sign up for it. When you transfer from Hogwarts from an iNPC school, however, put your desired sport spot in the form and you will be put in the sport if there is a spot open (and, if not, you will be added to the waitlist; see below).
If I transfer my PC to being my iNPC and send them to an international school, can I automatically land my same specific spot on the sports team in my new school as the spot I had back at Hogwarts previously? For instance, I was a first-string Chaser back at Hogwarts, can I be a first-string Chaser for [x school] now?Your new PC (transferring TO Hogwarts) cannot. You have to go manually sign up to your House’s waitlist for whatever sport you would like them to play; we will not auto-add you to the House waitlist. However, your new iNPC (transferring AWAY from Hogwarts TO an international school) can be auto-added to a school’s team (or waitlist if the desired spot is not open) as long as you specify in the form above what spot you want them to take. TLDR: new PC no, new iNPC yes if there is a spot open.
How does this work with me being in the Index/being on an iNPC school roster?Yes, as long as there is a spot open. The waitlists for sports will remain first-come, first-served at Hogwarts and at iNPC schools. When you transfer from Hogwarts to an iNPC school, you put your desired sport & position in the transfer form. If there is a spot open, you will be added to the iNPC school sport's roster immediately upon your transfer being approved. The process is only immediate for the Hogwarts->international pipeline; when transferring from an international->Hogwarts, you have to manually sign up for a sport waitlist yourself (see above question).
What do after I have been approved to swap my PC and iNPC?When your swap is approved, your old PC (aka your new iNPC) will automatically be removed from the Official Index and added to the iNPC school roster for your new international school. Your old iNPC (aka your new PC) will also be automatically removed from your old international school roster. However, the new PC will not be added to the Official Index automatically; this is the only bit of work you have to do yourself (other than applying to a Hogwarts sport, if desired; see above for that process). You must apply to the Official Index by yourself as your new PC and link the approved swap post in your Index application; only then will your new PC be added to the Official Index.
Your next step, once you have been approved to swap PC/iNPCs, is simply to update your PC and iNPC to reflect their new schools (e.g. in their encyclopedia). Then you will need to go to the Index Re-Application link here and apply to have your PC be re-indexed; make sure you link to your approved swap post in your Re-Indexing application. Afterwards, you are free to RP your new PC and new iNPC as you choose!
