This ability can be acquired up to 2 times. When acquired twice, this stacks so when acquired a second time this becomes a 20% chance.
Note: There is a hard cap of 20% regardless of all spells, abilities, potions or other effects.
Fearless: Fear effects such as a dhampir's aura, the ability terrible presence, a lycanothrope's intimidation or certain charms, potions and jinxes that would normally cause a fear effect do not work on you as you are immune to them.Ignoring the corrosive, burning feeling on her skin, Delphine was quick to spring into action. She tilted at a Castelobruxo boy currently sharing a same unit with her and zoomed towards him, the big smile she usually wore slowly disappearing on her face as she was starting to take the matter seriously, eyes fixed on her target. She managed to collide with him and knock him off his broom, gracefully and proudly pulling herself around after everything was done, ready for her next move - phew, the small victory made her felt much better, and even the unpleasant sensation on her skin seemed to have eased. Nice move, actually.

Beauxbatons vs Castelobruxo + Uagadou
RPing as Raphael Aveline
Now that there was an open stretch ahead of them, free of obstacles, Raphael leaned forwards slightly, speeding up. He noticed Maxi and Delphine falling behind in his peripheral vision, likely trying to weed out some of the competition - Maxi was easily the best spellcaster on their team, and Delphine, despite not being all that great at dodging obstacles yet, should not be underestimated when it came to blatching people off their brooms.
Cassie, Celine, and Raphael himself kept flying instead. Sights set on the lone Castelobruxo racer in front of them, Raphael crouched down closer on his broom as they neared the next obstacle - a waterfall. Uncomfortable if nothing else; flying with wet clothes would drain the little warmth from the weak British sun away faster than it could reach his skin. He braced himself, fingers tightening around his broomshaft as they raced into the thunderous curtain of water... and he came out alone. Surprised, Raphael turned his head just in time to see the water vanish behind a thick layer of fog, complete with several figures at its foot.
He shook his head, facing back forward to not lose his sense of direction. He'd tell Cassie to up her weightlifting regimen after the race; clearly, she'd been slacking. A few moments passed in which Raphael was not quite certain he was heading in the right direction; in fact, after consulting the compass that was attached to his broom handle, he adjusted his course to not get off track. A helpful little appliance, and more than half the reason he managed to leave the fog behind without having to slow down and reorient himself. Well. That left him clearly in the lead, his strongest competitors (and allies) stopped by obstacles and attacks, and nothing in his way except for a few trees... and a maze. Raph groaned.

ReducioAs soon as Alemayehu was able to walk, his dad placed him on a small broom to practice. He was not a natural flyer, it took him a few weeks or even months to be able to keep his balance on the little broom but when he got the hang of it, he didn't even want to dismount and was always sad when they arrived and he had to get off his broom. In the first years on his toy broom, he would only fly with a string attached and mostly above the flying carpet they were using for their tents. He would also only fly shorter distances and times. Then he got tired and mounted his parents broom. But as he grew older, he could fly longer and further. When he turned six years old, his father bought a new broom for himself and so Alemayehu got his father's broomstick. It was much faster and they would also do some races for fun at night, when no muggles were there to see them. His mother didn't really appreciate this but his father liked broom sports too much to not show his son.
When he entered Uagadou, he got a new broom: A Silver Arrow. Alemayehu was proud and happy and hoped to get on the school's broom racing team. His flying experience when entering Uagadou was already 10 years, making him a quite experienced and steady flyer. Always living on the move like nomads he had flown across all over the african continent in almost all weather conditions and knowing how to handle various obstacles. They mostly flew over the woods but sometimes it was safer to fly through them. They fly often on open space with winds blowing hard. They often fly at night or in dusk or dawn, often having fog along the way to make it even harder to see and navigate.
Additionally to their normal travel obstacles, his father taught him how to best maneuvre through narrow ways, how to navigate when you really see nothing or when the sun comes from the front and blinds you. He had put Alemayehu through various tests. Once he had flewn with a magically dense cloud of fog around him, only with his compass he could determine where to fly. He had needed to fly very slow because there could always be some obstacle before him. Another time, his father had caused the wind to blow from the front and Alemayehu had to stay on his broom and idealy even move forwards. They had created their own maze where Alemayehu had to fly through as fast as he could. They had a lot of fun but it had been also a lot of work.

Healing Sage
ReducioAlemayhu had learned healing skills from his mother. Even though she was not allowed to teach him spells just yet, she had made sure that he learned everything else. And so from three years on, she had taken him to collect magical herbs and ingredients needed in healing potions and ointments. They had collected flobberworms and he had helped her to get the mucus, a perfect thickener for ointments. They had collected the leaves of the abyssinian shrivelfig. She also showed her the non-magical healing plants and how to collect them, when to collect them, what to watch out for. He learned which plants were healthy, which were poisonous, which needed to be cut, which to be plucked. He then watched her to brew her potions.
When he turned six years old and already had started to learn how to read, his mother would make him read about all the plants not native to Africa, all the plants she could not show him. he would read about potions, herbology and healing magic.
He was also allowed to collect the plants himself and to help with preparing them for the potions: chopping, grinding, mixing them.
With eight years, she also took him to her patients where he learned what made them sick, mostly muggle diseases but also some magically induced ones. He learned about the ancient techniques of healing as well as the modern ones, even though the last were seldom possible with the means they got where they were.
Alemayehu learned a lot of things from his mother, from the books, and in the end had a vast theoretical knowledge. When he was ten years old, he often could identify the disease and what the people needed as a treatment, even though he lacked practical experience.
Only when arriving at Uagadou he had also gotten pracitcal experience. He learned the spells and with his background in how the human body worked, how plants made healing possible etc. he had learned all the healing spells in a breeze. Other spells had taken much more time to learn but healing seemed to be in his blood or at least in his muscle memory, induced by his mother. He was not sure whether it was genetics or pure hard work but he was happy to also have this ability to heal. It was not necessarily something he wanted to do for a living but he wanted to have his friends feel well and so being able to heal them was great.

After a later start due to helping Chuki getting ahead, Alemayehu also started flying. The first obstacle, a bit of wind, was no problem. Then there were some trees. First one dodged, second one he crossed without a problem but then.. Ouch! That school broom made a strange move and Alemayehu could not dodge the last tree and got hit by some branches. But he managed to get just a little further and could breathe again before the next obstacle.

Agata was momentarily befuddled. Why wasn't she going anywhere? This was a race! She shook her head slightly, brown wisps coming loose as the air buffeted her. She needed to focus so her team could actually win this thing. From the looks of it Beauxbatons was far, far ahead and they needed a miracle to get there.

ReducioShe’d never been one to look for danger but there was always something dangerous about living in the ancient city of Cusco, Peru. Of being surrounded by jungle and mountains and ancient cracking temples. Growing up, her parents had always warned her about where she should go and where to avoid, but having spent the last nearly 11 years walking the city, Agata didn’t feel the usual caution or fear that she saw in others. Especially the tourists. They were everywhere. Roaming around the streets in wonder. But to her this was home. And it always would be.
Gallivanting around the city with her siblings was always the best part of her day. Now that they were away at school, Agata was on her lonesome. She’d been used to it of course in some way. The youngest of seven, she’d been left to her own devices many times by her parents who were too busy running their plant shop to truly look after her. They specialised in muggle and magical plants, providing anyone with ingredients for whatever they may need. Her siblings at first at cared for her, but as she got older and they left for Castelobruxo, they too left her to her own devices. In the end, she’d spent days exploring the ruins of Machu Picchu, taking the train by herself, and climbing, albeit secretly, the ruins to explore.
She’d even come across sun bears and pumas when walking the ruins in the early mornings. Instead of the rush of fear one would expect at seeing such magnificent beasts, she’d only felt respect and admiration for them. She quietly snuck out of their way, heading towards a different part of the terraced gardens, leaving the animals to themselves. Although she didn’t fear them, she wasn’t stupid. It would be best to leave them alone.
The adventures hadn’t stopped in Machu Picchu. When she was still in Cusco, on days where her mother forbid her from exploring, she’d help in the shop. Her mother would always send her on errands, either delivering packages or getting them for the shop. It was one of her favourite pastimes, and had been for years. She’d been braving the streets doing these errands without assistance for over 5 years now, and felt comfortable in walking the criss-crossing, star-aligning streets by herself without help. She always waved and smiled at her neighbours, not bothered by the sedate llamas or busy cars.Potion Mastery
ReducioShe’d been stuck helping her parents in the shop over the Summer. After what had ended up in a disastrous exploration of the European continent and what the British termed, the best school ever (insert eye roll here), her parents had basically kept her holed up inside. Being the youngest, her parents coddled her like a baby, always making sure she was well and wasn’t in pain. She was sick of it. She had paid her older siblings to do her chores for her basically everyday so she could escape.
She didn’t go far. Just around to the next street, into an abandoned building where she had set up her cauldron and supplies on the lower floor. The building had long since been vacated and was a perfect spot to brew potions away from prying eyes. Most of the things she used were her own from school and ingredients weren’t hard to come by either – her parents owned and grew plants for a living. They had numerous magical potion supplies right there for anyone who needed them. Agata wasn’t stealing them, she was borrowing them. Turning them into something useful. They would have been sitting there collecting dust otherwise. It was what she told herself anyway.
Week after week, she spent sat there in the dusty old decaying building reading her potions textbook. It was after three failed attempts that she’d resorted to asking her older brother Julián for help. He was an adult, more than capable of helping her with the magical spell component of her potions. He’d been suspicious at first, but when she’d explained it was because she wanted to learn more about potions he had agreed. It wasn’t his forte but anything for his youngest sister. Sometimes being the youngest paid off! They’d set about doing it every 3 days or so, when they could both get out of chores and work. She’d collected the ingredients and brewed the potions carefully, making sure every one was the correct colour, consistency and if applicable taste.
Once the actual brewing had commenced Julián had proposed she make a journal with all her notes. She’d scoffed at the idea at first, but now, 5 weeks in, she was glad to have listened to him. Every time she trialled a new potion, she noted it down. What type of potion it was, what it did to the consumer, what it looked like, smelt like, tasted like. They were all important details that would help her succeed in learning her potions.Poison Resistance
ReducioThere was something about the long break and being free to do as she pleased. It meant she had ample time to collect ingredients with her siblings, play the piano and brew her potions. Not particularly in that order, but as long as she was able to do those things, she was happy.
Bottle after bottle lined her shelves. Some of them were full of liquids and paste, whilst others were nearly empty. She’d become determined over the break to not only master her potions, but be able to tell which was which by a glance or taste. Her parents, not so bewildered to discover that their youngest daughter had a liking for potions, supplied her with the ingredients and spellwork she needed to brew potion after potion. With her stock full, or as full as she could make it, she’d sat down over several afternoons throughout the weeks she had off school to learn and test herself on the tastes of the potions. She was determined to be ready come her third year.
It had come to a head on the last weekend before heading off for ‘school visits’ as she called them. She’d waved off wandering the hills of Cusco with her siblings instead wanting to perfect this last potion test of hers. That was where her mother found her - inside her room, huddled under her study desk. She’d been sitting there all afternoon reading her older brothers potions textbook. Agata had asked her brother, Julián, to brew a potion. She knew she’d been affected by it, but it wasn’t what she thought.
Her Mother came into the room, a confused look on her face. “Mija (darling), what are you doing on the floor?” She placed the new potion herbs on the table above her daughter, and crouched in front of the befuddled girl. “What’s wrong Mija?” Agata looked up from the book, worn in places and corners folded. “It’s not working Mama,” Agata mumbled. She picked up the potion, handing it to her mother. Her mother looked at it. It was a dizziness potion, beautifully created with a shining orange colour. It didn’t look wrong at all. “What do you mean Mija? It looks fine. Is that why you’re sitting on the floor?” Agata shook her head at her mothers question. “A little, but not really. I was expecting to need to sit, so took the potion sitting down. But I’m not dizzy! Not like I’d expect from a dizziness draught.” She handed the textbook over to her mother. “That’s why I was checking the book. I can’t tell what went wrong.”
Her mother smiled knowingly. She’d heard of this happening. Placing a hand on her daughters head, she smoothed the chocolate strands back. “It worked Mija. It’s just that your body is tolerant to the potion. Probably due to all the testing you’ve done.” Standing up, she placed the textbook on the table next to the forgotten herbs. She held a hand down to Agata. “Come now. I’m sure your siblings are back from town. Let’s go have something to eat.” Agata smiled affectionately at her Mother, clasping her hand and hauling herself up. Mama was probably right. She’d grown a tolerance to all the potions she’d drunk over the weeks and now it was all in her favour.
Comprehend Languages - Parseltongue
ReducioGrowing up Agata had spent much of her time in the Amazon jungle. Many animal calls could be heard - macaws squawking, capuchins yelling, alligators snapping. The sibilant sounds of snakes though? The first time she had heard that hadn't been in the leafy, green jungles. That had been at home, in the living room. One day, there had been silence. The next a short, white woman with blonde hair speaking in strange tongues. She had introduced herself as Dusana Sabo, her half cousin. She'd found evidence that Agata's father was her father's half-brother. Considering that Agata's father knew nothing of his own paternal history and it was much a mystery, Agata was skeptical. So had been her parents as they all sat around the dining table, Agata's six siblings cloistered around her, trying to get a glimpse of the documents that Dusana produced. It was only after her father broke down in tears that Agata realised that it was true. This young woman was her cousin. Her family.
After this first encounter, Dusana would visit as often as she could. It usually ended up being only once or twice a year due to her studies in the healing arts, but she always made it worthwhile. Her constant companion was her pet snake, which Agata loved. Her older sisters hated the animal, describing it as horrid and disgusting. Agata always rolled her eyes when that happened. The young girl was fascinated that Dusana could speak a strange language with her pet that no one else could understand. Dusana had been amused when Agata first mentioned it, citing that she would have loved to have grown up with siblings, to feel less alone. Agata vehemently disagreed. She never had a moments peace! It was during this visit that Agata begged Dusana to teach her the strange language, even if it was to only understand it. Dusana agreed, although she warned that it would be hard. Especially as she only visisted once or twice a year. Agata didn't care. She was determined to learn.
Over the years, Dusana would visit and Agata would show her how much she had learnt. Her knowledge steadily grew, to the point where Dusana felt comfortable leaving Agata and Asclepius alone together over the afternoons, conversing in a mixture of English and Parseltongue. Agata loved being able to understand the language, to have one over her older siblings. It was a way to be alone, but also close to family.

Celine was staring at Maxi so intensely that at some point she bumped into something, of course. Now her parents were inevitably going to scold her for being a klutz and letting her team down. She didn't care that much but she was afraid that her teammates would do the same as well and that made her focus for a while. Not for long though. She was going to go right back to watching Maxi maneuver on his broom... As soon as she could.

It took Chuki a moment to realize that she pummeled straight into the water after being thrown ahead by a fellow team member. She looked around, feeling a strange sense of deja vu. She was always warned about threading into large bodies of water by her mother. She knew better than to stay in such for long.
It didn't help that she could still feel the eyes of her tribal mothers continuing to cast their judgment on her efforts. This moment would not look favorably towards her, she noted. For now, she had to keep moving forward-
