Once again, after multiple rounds of sitting out, the sunchild was ready to make her move. She thought carefully about which action she would take next, as she watched the previous round's outcome. The Ringmasters were doing well for points, she could only hope that they would keep up this streak throughout the rest of the match. Not much time passed before it was her turn, as she chose what way best to proceed.

As a child, Erast had never been subjected to punishments such as "time-out" in a secluded corner. Punishments, when a rare one came, were swift– over before he could blink twice.

This is so boring. Erast huffed softly to the side, holding his arm as the round continued without him. With such a long and boring penalty, the brunet had to admit that it makes you reflect on how cheating feel bad quite effectively.

Erast's eyes flicked over to the players still on the platform. The girl that he had failed to trip had freed her eyes. The polite thing to do was accept it and be glad for her. Then, he shivered, as if someone had fixed eyes on him. Erast turned his head, just in time to see the blonde Slytherin girl from the other team looking straight at him.

"Expelliarmus!"

On instinct, the brunet clamped his head down on his wand. It must be his lucky day, because no tug was felt at all. He sighed. Bless...

Erast tucked the wand into his pockets for safe-keeping, and tried not to look too much at his attempted attacker. It would've been embarrassing if he had been disarmed whilst standing like a chided toddler, so he technically owed her a favour for saving his face.

Despite her experience regarding casting under pressure, Alyss was struggling. The incantation “Expelliarmus.” escaped her lips, but unfortunately something clearly disrupted her, leading to a failed cast. But, she was finally a boon to her team, with her “Accio.” landing a stone in the blue—and sticking. She had landed 50 points for her team, and looking down, Elena had earned them 80 point total—fabulous!

“Great job!” She cheered, beaming at the Ravenclaw. They totally got this.

It was still a bit of a blow that Della's stone was knocked out. Maybe if she could get yet another member of the other team out of play … was disarming someone a foul? Well, there was only one way to find out. "Expelliarmus," she whispered at one of the opposing Slytherin prefects. There was a small tug-of-war between Della's stream of magic and the girl's grip on her wand, and surprisingly, the Slytherin held on. Damn.

This seemed to lead to a slew of failed spells—even Della's own summoning did nothing to move her stone this round. Her team was still ahead, but they wouldn't be for long if they kept casting like this.

Shifting her weight from one foot to another, Rosaline was visibly anxious. The heat and the glare from Elena contributed a great job on the feeling too. She wasn’t used to playing a sport that didn’t require flying in the air with a broomstick. This thought sounded ridiculous, but it was true.

When it was her turn, she intented to cast Expelliarmus. With anxiety buzzing in her head, Rosaline suddenly forgot the pronunciation of it. “Ex… Ex-what…” She fell into silence, staring at her wand for a second. Head down. Her next spell didn’t even work either. Embarrassed. Her face flushed. She sighed heavily to herself. But as Aly announced Charlotte scored 40 points for their team, her spirit was lifted by the news a bit.

"EXPELLIARMUS!!!"

Colin watched as all four players tried to disarm each other! Twas brilliant! But --- almost nothing happened! Colin laughed. "Nice cast Della! Charlotte's got ye beat! WOOOO EXTERMINATORS!!! That's one bug squashed!" Colin teased. Colin thought for sure a fifth year ought to be able to disarm a first year easier than that.

His expression became thoughtful. He glanced over at Aly, suspiciously. "Hmm. Failure is part of the process? I wonder . . ." What Colin was wondering was if Aly had rigged the game somehow. Cause everyone's spells to fizzle. Could that even be done? He reckoned so. Some sort of spell cancelling charm maybe? Or could it be this part of the grounds? She'd said the Summoner's Court was really old. Maybe it had an enchantment laid on it somehow?

Colin's attention rebounded to the Court as the stones started sliding along the ancient floor. He cheered on the Exterminators! "WOOOOO EXTERMINATORS! SQUASH THOSE BUGS! SQUASH THOSE BUGS!" As the stones skidded to a halt, Aly called out the scores. "YAYYY CHARLOOOOOOOTTE FOR FORTY!!" he cheered! "Better luck next round Everhart!" he tried to encourage his team mate. "You too Della!" he sang out, making a little throbby heart with his hands, trying to nudge his fellow flyer off her game!

Perhaps the deadly sin of pride was indeed the plague of humanity, but at that specific moment, Elena had to hold herself from jumping in the air — her two balls stilled at the center, earning them a whooping 130 points with her sunchild's hits.

"LET'S GOOO!" she cheered, hand drawn in the air to engage in a highfive with Alyss. Around them shots fired, and Meiyu threw her an exasperated glance as she ripped her blindfold off her face. Go get them, tiger. The moonchild would support this woman's right and rights, as Meiyu was never wrong.

Strategising for this game was much too hard for Silas, given that he had no previous experience at all with Summoner’s Court. So, naturally, he elected to simply give up and resort to doing something he was good at — discouraging people. Yet it seemed fate was not on his side today. Right as he began to yell at one of the opponents, he felt a tickle in his throat and all that came from his lips was a wheeze, making him cough. Once he recovered, he stared at the players with distaste, wondering how he had managed to mess up booing. Whatever. It wasn’t like what he did from the bench would matter much, anyway.

Slowly, Lottie began to regain her composure. As the turns flew by and scores climbed at their own rates, Lottie took the time to get out of her head and into the game. And there, once her turn rolled around, she managed to stabilize just enough to manage a few extra points for her team.

With a relieved breath, Lottie crossed her fingers and prayed this wouldn’t be the last of her successes.

Second-String Actions

Silas and Max once again were doing similar actions, though not trying to strategise with each other anymore, thankfully; the two boys clinked their vials together before downing matching Baruffio's Brain Elixirs. Both of them would seem to be quite a bit smarter after this, perhaps even twice as smart as before! Aly chuckled. "Don't chug too fast, now!" she warned, turning an eye to the lone second-string left on the other team; Sabrina was looking rather innocent, and not at all like she had just failed to cast a Disarming Charm at an active first-string player.

Player-Based Defensive Actions

Potions had come into play really for the first time in this match, and Aly nodded appreciatively to Lyanna as she uncorked a vial. "Oak pulling out a glass of... what is that, Baruffio's? Great minds think alike on the Ringmasters, it seems! How do you feel? Any smarter?" But alas, it didn't seem like the elixir had had any effect on the first-string player.

Player-Based Attack Actions/Debuff Fouls

After the previous round had ended with no one disarmed or otherwise enchanted, this round would feel like a tsunami to the face when it came to attack spells. Four of them were cried out, and meanwhile, Erast tried to smear a bit of Babbling Beverage onto a bit of Meiyu's exposed skin, though he missed and got her robes instead, causing no damage.

Luckily, Aly didn't see as she was too busy watching Cecilia and Kaitlyn's wands fly out of their hands. "Ooh! Excellent Disarming Charms from Gilmour and Clark taking out Merrick and Connor," she announced to the gathered teams, as though they weren't literally living the action as she commentated. "And Barfield is looking a bit bemused after a General Counter-Spell from Everhart. Looks like Connor herself didn't manage to successfully cast anything, though..."

Summoning Stones

With two casters chasing their wand and Della looking confused as to why hers wouldn't work, only nine stone-pulls would occur - or, at least, be attempted. Several failed, including a spell backfire from Charlotte and unsuccessful attempts at pulling stones from Lyanna, Alyss, Charlotte again, Erast, and Meiyu. Aly cocked an eyebrow. "Winfield looks like she's burned her hand from that backfire, and Oak, Gilmour, Yan, and Xiang are all unable to get their spells to work properly, too! This'll be a low-scoring round, that much is for sure!"

Fortunately for both teams, three players total did manage to successfully cast their spells and pull their stones enough to score some points, bringing about the end of the match. "That's Everhart in orange for twenty points... Clark in yellow for thirty... oh, and one of Xiang's stones sailing beautifully into blue! Eighty points to the Ringmasters and twenty to the Exterminators. Congratulations, circus folk - it looks like you lot have won!"

KOB Fouls

The match was over, but that didn't mean Della was done playing. Having only Summoned one stone, she had enough energy to move at full speed towards her opponent Kaitlyn, though she just missed her as Kaitlyn dodged out of the way. Aly whirled, having seen the blur out of the corner of her eye. "Barfield! What did I say about pushing each other off the stage? The match is over, for Rowena's sake! If it weren't, you'd be coming back to me to have yet another conversation about Summoner's Court rules."

Outcome

• Meiyu's first stone is in blue, and Elena's stone is in yellow, for 80 points to the Ringmasters; they are at 310 points and have won the match!
• Rosaline's stone is in orange for 20 points to the Exterminators
• Sabrina failed to disarm Alyss, but wasn't caught
• Silas and Max both drank Baruffio's for a +5 WIS boost
• Lyanna drank Baruffio's too, but it did nothing
• Erast failed to put Babbling Beverage on Meiyu, but wasn't caught
• Rosaline cast Finite Incantatem at Della, voiding her Summon action
• Alyss disarmed Cecilia and Elena disarmed Kaitlyn, voiding their Summon actions
• Della failed to shove Kaitlyn and was caught

Changes that are being made:

• I added a third second-string slot so that each team will have 8 players (5 first-string, 3 second-string) for the creation of the system.
• Removing the bit about failure to pull stones 2x in a row = removal from the match. I fear it just made things confusing and was hard to remember.
• Clarified in the rules that you can't shove someone who is in time-out (or second-strings).
• Have made Obscuro legal (thanks for bringing this up, Alyss).
• At the request of the Exterminators, I've added a STA DC check for when someone is Shoved to see if they can come back to the bench as a second-string.
