What You Are Likely to Know:
Hogwarts is a relatively small and tight knit community of 11 through 17 year olds. Unless you've been trapped inside the very fibres of the Whomping Willow or have been in a magical coma for the last several years, you've almost certainly seen and perhaps even know something about Colin! Apart from the obvious --- he's a tall and skinny boy with whitish blond hair, pond scum green eyes, a few obvious scars, and always wears a kilt --- some of his personality traits are also pretty well known.
I picked a few at random, not all of them positive, that your character is likely to know. And as with any character trait, none are monopolar, all come with their own scrambled spectra of how the boy presents them at any given time. Your character could be familiar with these traits through personal experience of knowing Colin, being in classes with him for about a third of your life, watching his antics in the Great Hall or out on the broom racing course, or even just living the student's life in common room, corridor, and library.

Eyes of Sky

This is surely the moment when Colin fell in love for the very first time! Her name was Jarael Morningstar. She was in his year and was a Ravenclaw. They met in Dark Arts, and kind of hit it off right away, perhaps creeping out poor Taylor Lawrence in the process! Jarael brought out Colin's quirk and excited his poetic heart. He furrowed his brows slightly. Why don't I feel terrified of her? What if she sees inside me? Will she hate me? Is she --- is she cracked enough to accept what I am? Colin cocked his own head the other way. Her eyes really did look like the sky! Or like the Earth seen from far, far away. Like two Earths, two pale worlds one could get lost in. He smiled.
He did, eventually manage to work up enough courage, guided by Bailey Glade, Kim Aoki, Sophia Nelson, Gem Sable, Pax Zhang, and his bestest friend and personal Seer, AngelFyre McCubbin, to profess his deepest and undyingest love to his Eyes of Sky.He kept his eyes on Ravenclaw Girl as he whispered into the skeleton's ear hole:
"And o dear Lady Jumble Jones! Now I'm no friend of old dry bones,
thy rictus fixed and toothy mien; I'd take for friend a living quean!"
Colin stepped back, bowed towards Ravenclaw Girl with a little flourish; then turned and went back to his own desk.
Alas, Jarael disappeared at the end of first year, and Colin never heard from her again.
You can't keep a McCoire down! Not for long anyway! Colin's first ever broom race was against Ravenclaw that summer between first and second year. And of course, flying for Ravenclaw was none other than Clair Fernandez! It didn't take long for Colin to fall hard for the birb, despite that fact that she had a boyfriend (Deadward something or other...) and apparently had boys crushing on her all over the place! The Colin that endured the terrors of the course, the Colin whose flesh was cut and lacerated by huge thorns and was still bleeding, whose skin still felt the burn of the bundimun acid, who had been barraged by rampant tree branches whose throbbing head had been assaulted by rocks and buffeting winds at the end of the race; that Colin had come through a changed boy. His eyes and his heart had seen Clair Fernandez --- and he had fallen for her! His heart felt warm and pride grew within --- pride for Clair! She too had undergone all the trials of the race as he himself had. She had fought for her team and helped overcome his for the victory.
Somehow, Colin managed to overcome the grief of losing his first love. Colin's heart found joy in her love of creatures and in her studious nature. And of course in kissing! I think he loved her most because she loved him without caring about his curse. She took on his burdens and helped him solve the great and perplexing riddles of his second and third year: the loss of his twin, Liam and the identity of the person who was trying to murder him and harm his family.
Eyes of Sky, twinkle in the light
mischief is in them day and night;
long hair flows like a stream
rippled and wavy and golden gleam;
keen of wit at riddle or tease
reveals nought but what she please.
Alas. All good things come to an end, and Colin and Clair grew somewhat distant during fourth year. Clair had already discovered some secrets in her own family, notably that her father was not who she thought he was. And before Christmas, she was taken away to live in America, leaving Colin heartbroken.
And true to form, you just can't keep a McCoire down for long! There shall always be a precious place in Colin's heart for Jarael and Clair; but his heart is big and it must love! And there must always be in Colin's heart his Eyes of Sky!Colin looked up into Emily's eyes. They were hazel. Neither green nor brown. Somewhere in between, like brilliant sunlight through clouds. More golden.
Eyes of Sky
There is no telling yet what will become of this love of Colin's. Will it last? Will it thrive? WILL EMILY SHEPHARD EVEN NOTICE HIM!?!?
*Colin collapses dramatically*
Only time will tell! What I can say is that Colin seems to have good discernment in the girls he chooses to love. And perhaps the third time's the charm?

Colin's Fangs
Wait. Colin has fangs?[/b] Yes, Colin has fangs! Like actual Dracula fangs? No! He's not a dhampir! As you know, Colin is a werewolf! And ever since beginning Hogwarts, he has been growing out of his sensitivity about this fact. He's come to terms with lycanthropy and even celebrates it in a way. Unlike most diseases, lycanthropy can actually affect one's personality. For example, he's got a very acute sense of smell and hearing. And it is simply impossible to live in close quarters with hundreds of pubescent tweens and teens and not come away from a few olfactory related personality quirks.
What about his fangs?
Quite simply, they are his natural human canines. Almost everyone has four canines. Most people have kind of squarish, flattish canines. A few people are born with rather pronounced, pointy canines. Colin and Liam are among the latter. I must note that these did not grow or develop because of lycanthropy; though Colin has it in head that there may very well be a connection of some kind. The reality is that some people just have pointy canines.
Thematically, I use this to describe certain of Colin's emotions and his body language. You will notice sometimes that he might flash someone a smile, "showing all four of his fangs"; or perhaps he might give a smaller half smile, "revealing only his left fangs". In Colin's way of thinking, if he shows you all four, he trusts you. He's showing you a sign, that he's amenable to revealing his wolfishness to you. His trademark smirk or a smaller smile means he is not quite so open with you, unless he's already declared his trust in you.
Keep your mind in hell; and don't despair.

On Muggledom
Oh yeah! I’ve heard of that game! D and D? I’m sure they got that from us! Have you ever heard of Jacks? It’s a bit of a queer game, really. Muggles only play it with someone named “Jack”. So, you’ve got this ball right? And after you throw Jack on the floor, you’ve got to throw the ball into the air. And when the ball’s in the air, you have to pick Jack up off the floor and catch the ball! Easy! I could play with Jack Burnett, only I’d have to use the levitation charm to pick him up off the floor. I’m not sure if it would be cheating if he transformed into his fox shape, though. He’d be easier to pick up that way, though! I’m not really sure why Muggles play games that you can only play with people named Jack. That seems kind of odd to me. But Muggles do odd things!
Or did you know Muggles have a game they call Omenopolopy? Omenolopoly. Wait. Omenopoly! That’s it! And what a strange game that is! It’s like a fortune telling game or something. I don’t hold with fortune telling myself. Me Seanmamó, she said fortune telling is pure pixie poop! I didn’t even know Muggles could do that. But they’ve got a game for it! Anyway, they’ve got these wee little horses and racing cars and ships and things that go around a track. I reckon they must be charmed or something. And then you have to buy cards. Like tarot cards. And that’s where they get the omens. And they have strange rules about money, because they have fake galleons and sickles too. Oh! And you have to live in a green house in order to play. I’m not sure why that’s a rule, because you can also buy red houses and you make people pay for you to read their tarot cards for them. It’s a very strange game!
Oh! Marble throwing! Yep! Muggles play a game a lot like gobstones too! Only they play it with like marble statues and things. So, you have a circular court to play in, just like we do with gobstones. And you put your statues in there. And then you have more statues outside the court. And those you have to throw at the statues inside the court. I reckon it’s kind of like wizarding chess a little bit? Because you have to break your opponents’ marbles in order to win. And you can’t cheat by using bronze statues or glass or anything like that. Has to be marbles.
But Muggles also play magical games too. Only it’s Muggle magic and not real magic. Like, in those hand boxes they always carry around in front of their faces so they can see where they’re going, right? They put wee tiny games in there! Monica showed me once. You have to stick your finger into the window on the front of the box and they put the games inside, but there’s no door or anything, so I don’t know how they put the games inside. But there’s this one game, right, that has tiny people in it! And you can talk to them and everything! It’s just like talking with a real person, only they’re inside the box! I suspect it’s all down to Muggles having a lucky city. You can see the wee people inside the box too! It’s just like a pewter tally that they stick on the wall. With all the wee people inside! I think there must be more Muggles playing games inside than there are outside! I never did understand the rules of that game, though.
Muggles also play normal games too. I mean. Just like us before we learn how to fly on a broom, we can only run around in the grass right? And since Muggles don’t have brooms, they never learn how to fly. So they have to play this game called foot ball. My cousin Cursa told me about this one, cos it’s an American game. This is a game where they have a ball that they have to carry in their hands and not with their feet. And that’s why they call it foot ball, to remind them not to use their feet. And then they try to kill each other by blatching all the other players. And then, after everyone is blatched, they have to stand around and do nothing for like five minutes before starting all over again. At least they have a sensible scoring system where each goal is six points. It’s almost as good as their other ball games where they score birdies and have to fall in love. And then the game ends after nine innings or else when everyone ends up in hospital because they’ve been blatched to death. And the way they score goals is they have to carry the ball like it’s a baby, cradled in their arms, and they have to run around a grassy pitch and cross a certain line. But if they cross the wrong line it’s a penalty and they have to give the ball to the other team. But that team can also steal it, and then they have to carry it about the pitch to a different line. They have lots of lines in their games, Muggles. I reckon this foot ball must be played on some kind of huge polygon. Like maybe ten or twenty sides! And then they have to keep track of which lines they can cross and which lines they mustn’t cross. It’s all very complex.
Keep your mind in hell; and don't despair.

THE JOURNAL
Among the varied bits and bobs that any student wizard might carry in his satchel --- notebooks for classes, pencils, quills, protractors, triangles, sheets of grubby parchment, compass, ink pots, and charmed slide rule --- Colin also carries a couple of rather interesting old books.
One in particular is a very old and somewhat thick journal or commonplace book. The paper itself is very high quality cotton rag, made some time in the late 1700s. It's plain brown leather binding is worn and smooth. It was originally obtained from Flourish and Blotts for the sum of fourteen sickles and three knuts. You can still see the shop's purple and gold inked stamp inside the front cover. XX
The book itself appears to comprise three sections. The first one is the newest section, repaired by Colin and Liam some time in 2022 and is currently in use by them to keep track of Super Importanté and Awesomé Things. Among which are found several lists of girls names, some with curious and arcane symbols; geometrical and arithmetrical figures; attempts at potioneering; notes about werewolfery & astronomy; interesting uses of spells; maps; notes on travels and adventures; the initials "E. S." and "L. R." etc.
A number of original pages were torn out at some point in the early 19th century, so it is now long forgotten which McCoire child first used the book, but about a third of the way through however, it becomes clear that a certain Colin and Liam (both Ravenclaws) in about 1872 stole the book from their elder sister Aoife, a Slytherin. We find on the first page of the oldest section this lovely bit of dedicatory doggerel:
Two Eagles from the Snake this treasure stole
wit and wisdom, all things smart and droll!
Why?
For our sister Aoife looks like she's a TROLL!
One huge buck tooth gnawing like a MOLE!
In her hand she holds a SCROLL!
Eyes are shiny black like COAL!
Face looks like a BOLL!
Eye ROLL!
TROLL!!!!!
This second is the oldest section dating, as we shall soon see, back to the middle of the 19th century. This section is mostly concerned with mythology and local wizarding folklore; there are also parts on plant lore and a current events chronicle from about 1880 to 1916. At this point the book breaks off and a third, newer, section takes over. This third section seems to have been in use by Colin's grandfather Argus and his twin Angus (both Ravenclaws) as well as his own father Liam and his three brothers.
This section had been thought lost by Colin's father who recounted a major duel that occurred in the fall of 1997 where some idiotic Slytherin boy in their year tried to steal the book from them, but only managed to get a portion of its precious pages from the twins. Naturally, such a slight could not be left unanswered and a coalition of the two Ravenclaws plus a couple Gryffindors, a Hufflepuff, and even "one particularly gorgeous Slytherin girl", as Colin's father recounts the tale, faced off against the miscreant and his Slytherin allies down in the boathouse. Sadly, they never regained the missing part of the book, and the times being so very dark, focused on other concerns.
This long lost part of the book is what Colin found during his first year, in a long disused classroom under a heavy book case in the corner. He and Liam set to repairing it and rebinding it. Of all the sections, the boys found this one very interesting as there were lots of notes about plans and missions their father and his brothers had undertaken during the War. There were, of course, loads of girls names, poems (mostly about said girls), doodles and class schedules. Quite a few stories about house elves and essays about "the magic of Squibbs" caught Colin's attention when he first began reading through the dusty pages. Liam pointed out a small section headed by a crescent Moon and some squiggles they never could make sense of. The name "Lupin" appeared several times along with allusions to an "experimental potion".
Currently, the book is being filled with notes on certain evils done by family members, anti-werewolf plots, notes about what their younger brothers are up to in America, intelligence sent to them by Cursa, all the strange events that have occurred over the last several years involving invasions of hags, attacks by spiders, attacks on the Hogwarts Express, SCARAB, explosions in London and Hogsmeade, curious mushrooms, and the Great Slytherin Murder Plot.
Keep your mind in hell; and don't despair.

Adair was born far from the village. In Carnswort. Up in the high lands. His dad was an adventuresome Woodelf and him mum was the daughter of the blacksmith. As he grew up, Adair's grand dad taught him the exoteric trade of smithing, taking ore and transforming it into metal and then making with his hands anything that came to his imagination.
He also passed on the esotetic nature of the blacksmiths magic. Life in the high lands wad good, for the most part, but never easy. Folks worked hard, and often ended up with little to show for their labour. If it wasn't the local warlords squabbling over the district of Carnswort, it was the Goblins.
Goblins had begun raiding in the mountain regions when Adair was a little boy. When he was fifteen, and readying to take on his grandfather's forge, everything changed.
The warlords had come through in the spring. Reaving and raping as always, but never destroying. Grandfather said this was so because Men knew the value of other Men and of the region they fought over. This year it might be Archon Odila that ruled; next year it might be Archon Ulfas. Grandfather always shrugged and smiled. Warlords come and go, but the land and the people of the land always remained.
Until the Goblins came.
The Goblinking didn't care about Carnswort or its people or the value of either. They pillaged and destroyed. A few they spared. Many they feasted on, forcing the survivors to join. Adair refused, and the Goblinking took Angossy, his older sister in retribution.
Adair was sold into slavery. He smirked as the trader gave a low price for him. Too scrawny, the man said. Contrary to popular mythconception, Grandfather always said, true blacksmithery is not about brawn, but about heart. Work smart, not hard. Adair took his words to heart, and after a year found himself free of slavery.
And that's how Adair found himself in the village of Overwater. He'd wandered a bit and did odd jobs. Now seventeen, he was a bit of everything, tinker, smith, hunter, fighter. And now he found himself facing the old foe. The Goblins of old. The raiders and pillagers that had stolen his family and destroyed his people. Gerracq, the Goblinking.
Adair determined, as he sat listening to the tales of the old men playing cards, that he would stay here and stand with these people against the Goblins.
