iNPC Sports Summer 2025
This summer, we are fresh off of the 2025 iNPC subaccount transition process, so we want to clear up the path to participating in summer sports:

1. You must have your iNPC subaccount. (This acts as this year's "activity check" to make sure you are active and it will help the sports moderators.)
2. You must be listed on your school's official sports roster.
3. If you are on the roster + want to play this summer, you must opt-in. Each sport will open a signup thread. (This is to ensure participation, as we have unfortunately had activity issues in the past.) 4. Once the roster-only signups close, the sports moderators will put together teams and you will gain access to a locker room to coordinate with your team. As some schools still do not have full teams, it is still necessary this year to combine schools.

This process may change next year as we will have fuller iNPC teams and likely a new activity check process in place, but for Summer 2025 this is the process.

Broom Racing Summer Patch 2025
For the summer season, we are including more clarifications, updates to Attackers, updates on how moderated rolls are done, and fixes on spells.
  • The Fire-Breathing Chicken has new stats implemented, granting it an ability to evade attacks (evasion) and a health bar (stamina).
    Reducio
    Fire-Breathing Chicken [Evasion]
    Reducio
Fire-breathing chickens are a magical breed of chicken that possess the ability to breathe fire, very similar to dragons. Maybe not ideal for nuggets.

    Stats: STA 4 | EVA 5
    Attacks:
    - Fire Breath
The Fire-Breathing Chicken will attempt to attack every racer that casts a spell in its unit. Racers must succeed a DC 20 Evasion roll to avoid the attack. On a failed roll, racers take 200 damage, and have a 30% chance of being set on fire. If caught on fire, racers take 100 damage every round until they are extinguished with Extinguo, Aguamenti or pass through a Waterfall.
  • Vampyr Mosps have a new stat implemented, and can now evade attacks (evasion).
    Reducio
    Vampyr Mosp [Evasion]
    Reducio
Vampyr Mosps, large insects with incredible speed, inhabit open fields and wooded areas. The nasty buggers are agitated by the presence of lights, flowers, and disturbances in their habitat.

    Stats: STA 5 | EVA 8 | ACC 10
    Attacks:
    - Sting
This attack is triggered if a racer does any of the following within 8 units of the Vampyr Mosp:
    - Is caught in the Vines obstacle
    - Is KOB in a unit with Trees
    - Casts the Herbivicus or Orchideous charm
    - Casts Lumos
Once triggered, the Vampyr Mosp flies toward the unit where the trigger occurred.
The Vampyr Mosp will attempt to sting every racer it passes as it flies to the unit where the attack was triggered. Racers must succeed on a DC 25 evasion roll to avoid the attack. On a failed roll, the racer takes 100 damage.
If the Vampyr Mosp reaches the unit where the trigger occurred, it will automatically attack the racer who triggered the attack, no roll required.
Once the Vampyr Mosp successfully Stings a racer, it remains in its current unit until the Sting attack is triggered again.
    Notes:
    - If two racers in the same unit fail against the Sting attack, the target is chosen at random. All racers in a unit must be rolled for before determining the target of the attack.
    - If the Vampyr Mosp reaches the unit where the trigger occurred, it will not attack anyone other than the racer who triggered the Stingattack.
  • To accommodate the transition project's major change on trunks, a Trunk Lock Deadline has been established. Trunks (inventories) are locked 3 days before an official race, where moderators of matches are expected to copy and paste inventories in the captain forum, before issuing out official, public lists on the first day of the race. This practice was adopted from the Duelling System.
  • In regards to the newly established trunk lock, potions in broom racing have been given a temporary limit for iNPC Summer Broom Racing. This temporary limit has all permissible potions enlisted in the system to only render out one dose for the entire race.
Ex. You can use Skele-gro once, and other potions. But Skele-gro and those potions are now considered at max limit of usage, and future usages would be considered as failed actions by moderators.
  • The Slippery Jinx Spell has been rendered to fix its critical success' effect.
    Reducio
Slippery Jinx [Attack] | [Flying Y2L1] [Legal]
    Incantation: Lubricus
    Range: 4 units
    Wisdom DC: 15
Contested Roll: Caster Accuracy vs Target Evasion
    Effect:
    - Target 10% chance to fall off their broom
Critical Success: Target 20% chance to fall off their broom
Critical Failure:The glueing spell, Inhaeresco is cast on the broom
Notes: Effect can only be removed with Tergeo. Finite Incantatem will not remove this spell

  • The Order of Operations has enlisted a new addition that declares how auto-success/fail rolls will be conducted. When auto-success/fail rolls are stacked, auto-success rolls will be rolled first, then auto-fail rolls if the auto-success rolls do not proc. This new rule will be listed under Broom Racing Mechanics:
    Reducio
In the event a player has multiple auto-success and auto-fail rolls for one DC or contested roll, auto-success rolls will be completed before auto-fail rolls.

For example, Player A is affected by both an ally's calming presence ability and terrible presence ability when casting a spell. They have a 10% chance to auto-hit and a 10% chance to auto-miss. A d10 is rolled for the auto-hit before rolling a d10 for the auto-miss.
  • The way proc rolls (programmed random occurrences) are moderated is also being updated: from this point forward, all proc rolls (10% unless declared otherwise) will be enlisted under 1 when using a d10 Tatsu die. Stat-based dice (wisdom checks, strength checks, accuracy checks, etc) will continue to use a d20 Tatsu die.

Spells/Potions/Actions with critical effects will continue to have their critical failures proc at 1, and critical successes proc at 20, unless a racer has any abilities, status effects or a broom that reduces or increases the range of either critical effect.
    Ex. A 10% auto-fail roll will proc on 1, a 10% auto-success roll will proc on 1. A 25% chance roll will proc 1 to 5 (based on a d20 Tatsu die), etc.
  • A rule on contesting rolls has also been implemented. If a spell is set to target an ally, captains in strategy posts must explicitly state that this ally will not dodge the spell. If this is not stated, then moderators will roll as if the ally is dodging. This new rule will also be enlisted under Broom Racing Mechanics:
    Reducio
If a player targets an ally with a spell that has a contested roll, the captain must explicitly state that the player "will not dodge" the spell. If this is not stated, the moderator will roll as if the target is dodging.
  • Alley-Oop has once again been given more clarifications. If there is an obstacle or an attacker between both the thrower and the intended target, alley-oop can not be used as an action.
    Reducio
Alley-Oop: [Multi-player Move] This is a play where two racers make a wild and dangerous bid for victory. One user uses their strength to spin their ally around, using centrifugal force to fling the ally forward.
    • This requires the full action of both players. They may not perform another action while performing an alley-oop. The thrower may not Fly either.
    • The one being thrown still gets to use the Fly action and needs to declare a speed.
    • Must be within 3 units of the intended player to throw.
However, if there is an obstacle or attacker between the thrower and the intended target, and has not been passed, the players MAY NOT use the alley-oop action.
If the thrower is flying a Starsweeper XXI, then they may still use the Fly action and will need to declare a speed. Their speed will be halved as when performing other actions.
    • The Math: The spinner would remain on the unit that they flung their alley forward. Their strength being used to determine the number of units they hurl their ally forward in addition to the speed of their broom. For every 5 strength, the racer flies an additional 1 unit. For every additional unit flung, in addition to the normal accuracy and evasion debuffs they might experience, the flier that is flung forward experiences a stacking 5% auto-fail against getting through obstacles that require an accuracy roll, and stacking 5% auto-fail against anything that requires an evasion roll.
This patch will also serve as a last-minute reminder for iNPC broom racers to sign up so they can officially be a part of 2025 iNPC Summer Racing. The trunk deadline is July 9th, and matches will start on July 12th. Be sure you have updated your iNPC's inventory with spells, potions, and brooms. Your trunk's abilities and stats will be expected to be quoted in your first post in the race, along with your broom of choice.
