Aspen Wood: Aspen wood of wand-quality is white and fine-grained, and highly prized by all wand-makers for its resemblance to ivory and the outstanding charmwork it produces. The ideal owner of Aspen wands therefore are often those who are accomplished duellists, or destined to be so, for wands made of Aspen wood are particularly suited to martial magic. An infamous and very secretive eighteenth-century duelling club, The Silver Spears, only admitted those who owned an Aspen wand.

Aspen wand owners are usually strong-minded and determined, more especially likely to be attracted by quests and new orders. This is a wand for revolutionaries.

Snallgaster Heartstring: Those witches and wizards chosen by Snallygaster wands are well known for their speed, both in casting spells as well as in physical activities. They often excel in sports, especially those that rely on speed and mobility.

As a wand core Snallygaster heartstring behaves similar to Dragon heartstring with the difference that it lacks the aggressiveness most dragon cores display. Being not quite dragon and not quite bird, Snallygaster heartstring makes for wands that are powerful but of a warm nature and have a penchant for casting defensive spells. They some of the wands that vary the most in personality and will only bond to the one person who matches their character, though all Snallygaster wands prefer curious owners.

It is said that those paired with wands made from Snallygaster heartstring are hard to surprise and can never be caught unaware from behind. While there is no tangible proof of the latter, wands with a Snallygaster core do have a soft spot for those who are in control of their emotions and very self-aware.

Personality

Reducio
Hunter is a quiet individual who may appear shy in nature, but is overall just quiet and patient. He doesn't enjoy talking too much, and overall is found studying alone in various secluded locations at Hogwarts. He is noted for always pursuing knowledge and sometimes is willing to risk the safety and health of others if it means he can benefit himself by knowing more. However, due to his lack and experience with friendships and love, he always deems those close to him as very close. Deep down he is loyal and willing to do anything and everything to really benefit those around him if he deems it necessary. Those he would call friends or family are the closest people that Hunter is willing to give his all.

Background

Pre-Hogwarts
Reducio
Hunter is an only child who lived with both of his parents on the outskirts of his hometown: Tyndrum, Scotland. The location itself was open and vast, with a few heavily dense forested areas and lovely ponds that refracted the light of the sun in a loving way when it rose and fell. Due to the location of his home, not many children had actually been within the vicinity, it was a small town for tourism, not exactly a place to settle and live your life. Surprisingly, Hunter's parents both found the location to their liking. They both told Hunter that they both met each other when touring the town, and happened to bump into each other; thus, when they fell in love they believed the town had a bit of an oddity to it that would help build their relationship together. They bought a small little cottage on the outskirts of town, and both were still capable of following their careers within the small town. Hunter's father was a potioneer who would often venture out on long journeys from home to find, locate, and identify any new potential potion ingredients. Hunter didn't see much of his father, but when he did, they both would make the most out of it with talk of his father's adventures. His mother, on the other hand, was a Healer with a kind and gentle heart that protected Hunter at all cost when he was a baby, some claimed she resembled more like a wolf whenever her "cub" was put in danger. As Hunter grew in age, neither of his parents were around that very often due to their work. His father would be gone longer and longer, and his mother had to take care of others. To make sure Hunter wouldn't be depressed and alone, Hunter's grandmother (from his father's side) came to live with them and help raise Hunter well.

Hunter's grandmother, a short slightly stout woman of dark African lineage with short splintered hair, was an incredibly strict but loving woman towards her grandson. She herself was retired, but also a very skilled individual in magic and potions herself. Hunter sometimes would think his grandmother is the master/mentor of his father when it came to his knowledge in the brewery. Hunter's grandmother, to which he called her "Nyanya,"Swahili for grandmother was the one person he got to see the most besides his parents every day as he grew. She mentored him in the basics of many subjects of language, grammar, mathematics, and most importantly a few tips in potion brewing. Hunter's father tended to leave messes of ingredients, and sloppily noted pages and books around his workspace. Hunter's grandmother was rather displeased with how messy her son had become, but she and Hunter made the best of it. Hunter and his grandmother made a deal in which, if Hunter kept his father's studies clean and neat, before and after his father came, then every Friday his grandmother would whip up a new potion for him. At times Hunter would be instructed on how to brew certain potions, other times he could only watch and be amazed. His grandmother was his best friend and it was rather fitting to be homeschooled by her.

The cottage his parents owned had a vast backyard that led into one of the nearby dense forests, filled with dark English oak trees by a pond full of mist. At times, Hunter would venture outside as a form of "recess" to enjoy himself and exercise. He would only go a certain distance into the forest, far enough to where he was surrounded by greenery, but be capable of hearing his grandmother yell when supper or the next lesson was ready. While in the forest, Hunter would attempt to climb tall (for his age) trees and rest his mind to reminisce the stories his father would tell him. The town he lived in was still a tourist site, not one person felt to stay. As such, his parents were considered the only young couple that lived nearby, and both of Hunter's parents considered only having one child as they both are knowledgeable that they have very little time for Hunter himself. On days his parents would return home and stay for a while (His mother would be home for two whole days every week, and be home every night, but his father it varied all the time), Hunter would be dismissed from his Nyanya lesson and be allowed to spend time with his parents. From them, he didn't always learn ideas like the "difficult and fair" lessons his Nyanya placed on him, but he did learn concepts such as to care, be brave, and protect others.

Hunter spent a small amount of time throughout some days deep in the forest, climbing "tall" (for his age) trees before reading his father's notes. A lot of the notes didn't make too much sense to Hunter and his Nyanya had just as much difficulty deciphering her son's messy handwritten notes and diagrams, but nonetheless, Hunter hoped one day he'd be able to understand it. This hope was of fascination, but also in hope that he'd be able to go on a venture with his father someday. While in the forest, the gentle strong breezes blowing through the branches, and the soft humming of insects and birds calmed his mind and soul. The way the light danced through the leaves as the wind danced with the branches, it was something he would call 'welcoming" to say the least.

Surprisingly too, he wasn't always alone in the forest either, being a tourist site, some families who visited left their pets as strays. It was unknown if it was because the families forgot and never bothered to come back, or if they had left them on purpose. Hunter, at his age, didn't know the sad tales of these animals but nonetheless shared his calm corner of the world with them. Sometimes, he'd sneak off some extra food scraps from dinner, breakfast, or lunch in order to feed any strays who walked by. Some would visit often, others were seen once and never again. Animals like the stray dogs and cats, and a frog he found by the pond were the closest thing Hunter had to an actual living friend (that wasn't family). Hunter was in touch with nature, he preferred the quietness, he preferred the isolation, and he enjoyed eating his Nyanya's delicious Pumpkin Pie. He may have to adapt later in life for better or for worse, but as of now, he'd rather not.

1st-Year/2nd Year

Reducio
Hunter's time at Hogwarts has allowed him to open up slightly more and be able to understand new feelings and experiences. It was his first time ever meeting so many new people, and being able to interact with children his age. Unfortunately, he still prefers to be by himself and was always found to be a very studious student. He excelled greatly in his academics, and could always be found reading or studying in quiet secluded locations of Hogwarts. His favorite locations were the dungeons by the potions room, or outside by the great lake. He met many students, but never felt like he truly made any, or very few, friends. He did however find a classmate who is a distant relative (Vale Ashwood), and a slight love interest (Judith Cohen). Hunter also conducted practicing multitudes of potions above his year and would be known as a prodigy in the skill by some. At times he was mostly just an outlet to get potions from or to answer questions regarding homework for other students.

The most unfortunate factor is Hunter had begun to grow in wanting to know more and solve all sorts of questions he had. He has the intention of becoming a Healer focused on potions, thus he tries to improve, alter, and test potions on other people. Essentially, he can be sometimes cruel if it means he can understand more about something and doesn't always care for another's wellbeing in such situations. Sometimes a "patient" is more seen as a "test subject" to him.

Argentum Family Line

Reducio
The Argentum family line consists of modest and humble members that stick to keeping their family blood pure when possible. Due to their humble nature, the family is not extremely well known in communities except for other pureblood families. Over the course of history, they have been known to be some of the most talented individuals when it comes to brewing potions.

The term Argentum means "Silver" and has relation to the family's most well-known treatments and common potion brewed. Although the ancestors of the Argentum bloodline were capable of brewing potions of all sorts of standards, many typically took two different paths in the family. Women of the Argentum line typically grew into healers, while men grew into whatever they wanted. Despite this, many Argentum's brewed potions for the better of everyone. In relation to their name, they are most well known for treating and killing those afflicted with Lycanthropy.

The magical illness of Lycanthropy was a dangerous mystery that the founder of the Argentum bloodline swore to help defeat. Originally the Argentum had only killed individuals afflicted with Lycanthropy, but with the discovery of the Wolfsbane potion, many generations have in fact begun to save the lives of victims and provide them Wolfsbanes potion. However, due to the expensive nature of the potion, there came a mixture of generations of Argentum's either killing or protecting those afflicted with Lycanthropy.

When an Argentum child comes of age, they are to undergo a ritualistic tradition in which they are to brew multitudes of Wolfsbane Potion over the course of a week in order to familiarize themselves and know the potion by heart.

The family crest of the Argentums is the skull of a hyena with a stalk of dittany growing behind it. Since silver powder and dittany treats fresh werewolf wounds, it has of course become a part of the Argentum's lives. The skull of a hyena has relation to the tales of Wereheyna's roaming in Africa.

Hunter carries around with him three various journals, usually only having one at all times. The first journal belonged to his father, and it holds many secrets and undecipherable tricks and recipes that Hunter has difficulty in understanding. Hunter's biggest goal at Hogwarts, besides becoming a masterful potioneer, is to decipher the secrets his father left for him. The second journal is a personal journal of Hunter's that carries recipes and notes about various potions that he has brewed and plans to brew again for future reference. The third and last journal is one that Hunter is almost always carrying around with him. It is a journal that he uses to record and take notes about the various students at Hogwarts. Such as appearances, strengths, weaknesses, and especially secrets.

Those Scars... they seem... familiar. His body is covered in scars resembling the ones I've found in my father's drawings back home. Eccentric, Joyful, and about as annoying as his friend Avery Chen. If his scars mean what I think they mean... I have no choice, either I find a cure with his help or I stop the disease where it is. Eliminate all risk
Image

Avery Chen
Annoying, Eccentric, and very lucky. Trouble just seems to follow him, but he either avoids it or doesn't notice even notice it. He's involved and is very close to Vale, so I have to keep my eye on him. Should be noted he rarely backs down from any challenge.
Image

Vale Ashwood
We're related, a distant cousin. The only other family I know. Nana doesn't seem to enjoy her side of the family, but Dad seems to have positive relations with them, especially with Vale's brother. Something is very off about her, and I am not certain if she's sick or not but I trust her more than others. She does tend to run her mouth, so I need to be careful with secrets. I won't let any harm come to her.
Image

Hanako Tone
A higher year, but I was able to trick him and poison him. Has a rather rude and bully-like attitude, if anything I'm surprised I got away without any scratches. Most importantly though, he's a parselmouth. Even if he tried to threaten me, I'll use this knowledge to my advantage. Perhaps he can help me gather some snake fangs.
