Alchemy 2: Philosopher Stone Closed

January 8th, 19:00
Hunter was unsure of how exactly well the first meeting for the "Alchemy club" was. It was a short introduction of what was to come, and he saw a few students come in and out of the classroom for the first meeting back in early December. Here it was the beginning of January, and little more has yet to be done in the club. Hunter was planning something more interactive for the other members of the club; he just needed a bit more time to do so. Before that could happen, he wanted to share a few more notes with the other members before the next meeting could occur. Alchemy was a mixture of multiple subjects: it holds history, but dealt with both the wizarding and muggle worlds. It had potions and transfiguration, but also had relation to the muggle potion version known as chemistry. The concepts in all three were very difficult, and complex. Hunter was young, and this was not going to be an easy task for him. He needed to think of something soon and fast.

Hunter went to the old dusty chalkboard at the front of the abandoned classroom. The dust of the chalk danced in the light; almost like the snow that sometimes passed by the windows in the corridors.

It took Hunter a bit, but he eventually wrote what he wanted upon the board. Again, he walked to the very back of the classroom to read more into his studies of alchemy, perhaps a bit more on potion brewing. Hunter waited a while in the quiet classroom, and having a full stomach from swiftly eating what he could for the first half of dinner wasn't going to help. Eventually, he doze off before any other members could walk in.
The Chalkboard
Dear Scholars,
If you have entered this very classroom, then you and any other student here all have a showing love for alchemy. This meeting, however, is completely optional and you do not have to stay long. I understand much has not occurred in the club yet, but I promise you that the next meeting will have a much more "hands-on experience." Again, I do apologize for I am currently speaking with certain individuals and professors about this experience we all may have. For now, this is what I have to say to you all:
If you did not know, Alchemy and Alchemist of the past have always had goals set in mind towards what alchemy is. There are two main ideas that alchemists have always had: Turning metals into Gold, Chrysopoeia. Also, the ability to achieve immortal life. Before I go on, there is something I must discuss first with you all. We as alchemists here at Hogwarts have one goal, knowledge. We do not crave riches, we do not crave power, we do not crave eternal life, nor do we crave the philosopher stone. We open our doors to those that wish to know the rules of magic. This is our motto, and please remember it well. Of course, we will talk about many subjects and ideas that fall into the very things we should not crave. This is because we crave to understand how magic allows such things to occur and exist, and whether or not rules in magic can be broken. Please show respect to our motto, your classmates, and of course any Professors we may deal with in the future. Best of wishes! -Head Alchemist
This filled up about 3/4 of the chalkboard; Hunter really wanted this childish and new motto he formed to really stand out. He eventually filled the last 1/4 of the chalkboard with the following:
P.S. Currently, I am the only "officer" of this club. Essentially I am doing everything in my own power to make this club and its activities possible. However, I am unsure if I am capable of doing all this alone. Please, write your name down below if you wish to become a fellow officer. I will eventually come into the room and read the names, and request to speak with those of you individually. Two of you will become "officers" like myself, and will help me in the preparation of meetings and discuss event ideas.

[OOC, this will involve an RP thread in which your character learns Hunter, the first-year Ravenclaw, is the Head Alchemist. You and he will have a discussion in which you attempt to convince him why he should make you an "officer" of the club. There may be some or no competition, but only two people will be an officer with him.]

Within the classroom, there was also a new poster hung up on the left wall. It was a rather large one, and seemed to be the only poster within the classroom this time. It had one drawing, and a lot of writing. It seemed a bit majestic, but the rickety classroom it was within caused it to seem rather insignificant.

A key item throughout all of history within Alchemy. If anything, it is the key and final goal that all alchemists aim to create. Magic breaks the rules of muggles, but the philosopher stone breaks the rules of wizards and witches. It allows a user to turn common metals into gold; this breaks one of Gamp's laws of Elemental transfiguration. Next, it allows a user to create the Elixer of life, a liquid substance that allows a person to become immortal when drunk. Only one individual has ever been able to create the Philosopher's stone, Nicolas Flamel. Flamel created the stone long ago, and lived to be over 600 years old! Unfortunately, Mr. Flamel had decided to no longer wish for long-lasting life with his wife, and passed away a couple of years ago. Even though the stone has yet to be recreated for centuries, does not mean we as Alchemists should feel afraid in our studies. If the stone has been made once, it can be made again. The very symbol, shown above, is rather interesting too. It symbolizes the philosopher stone, but for an interesting concept known as "Squaring the circle." The circle is a symbol of everlasting spirit and the cycle of life and death. The square represents the material world, for many things come in fours in nature. Such as the natural elements and seasons. The triangle is a representation of connecting mind, body, and soul. Finally, the circle is within the square for it was considered impossible to find the area of a square with a circle using limited equipment. The philosopher stone is considered impossible, but we as wizards/witches know that is not true. Pay attention to how circles, squares, and possibly other shapes may be involved in this club. It may surprise you, for even in mythologies, stories, and history, these shapes share similar meanings to that in alchemy. Don't worry, we will discuss much about all of this. In fact, we've only scratched the surface of the stone, Flamel, and Alchemy in general. We will be bound to revisit and discuss more about them soon.

It takes a Mad King to create Change. I am no King, but I pull the Chords of Insanity.

Say hi to Mr. Buttercream, a new doll of Vale's!

Dressed down after broom racing match?
With all due respect, Vale was bored. Has been as soon as she arrived at the school. And when she was bored, she got in trouble easily for it. And what'll help her more to stay out of trouble than to include herself in some club activities? Alchemy, no less!

As Vale reached her destination, she could be found skipping into the mostly empty classroom. She dressed a bit more casually for the time being. A yawn escaped her lips as she took interest in the board in front of her first. She rubbed one of her eyes with her small hands as she read it carefully, not even noticing another student sleeping in the back of the classroom quite yet.

She had a small doll with her at her side. As she read the board, she noticed a sign up area involving 'officers.' She tilted her head, staring away for what seems like a while before pulling her small doll from the side of her body. A small basilisk snake that was obviously homemade.

"Mr. Buttercream, you're the smart one. What should we do?" Vale pull the doll up to the board. It didn't speak, or make any movement. Yet, Vale nodded like it was conversating with her like another person. "Really? Hm, you're right. Let's see where this'll take us."

Vale hummed gently to herself as she grabbed a small chalk and wrote her name in a bubble-y, and rather expressive manner:

Vale smiled at her handwriting before staring back at her basilisk snake doll. Yes, it most certainly can't be ignored at the size she wrote at. She put Mr. Buttercream away, turning away to sit at one of the many desks that settled in the room. The room was odd, different from Vale's other classroom appearances. But she took to it well, sitting down at a desk and pulled out a small notebook to write in.

She kept her humming up as she sat, pulling out a quill from the notebook and immediately set to writing down the notes that were on the board.
