Slytherin VS Gryffindor Spring race 2026

Well, it could've gone worse.

Sure, did he see the big trees up ahead, and could he have avoided them? Yes. But the quickest way through was.. well through. After two gnarly smacks to the face, the boy reached up to scratch his now itchy and red face. Man, he was so far behind but at least he was flying. Blaize squinted, trying to see what was up next and how his teammates were doing. It looked like everyone else was pretty unscathed, or just tougher than him and nobody was bleeding or knocked off their broom, for either team. Maybe they really had to light a fire under the Gryff's bellies this next round. The race could end in a round or two so they had to be very careful with their plan and Blaize would try to assist in any way possible. Squeezing the handle of his broom, he'd curl himself flush against the shaft, flattening himself to attempt to avoid the obstacles to come, letting out a slow, shaky breath from his mouth.

Della easily avoided the obstacles in her path. She had hoped Linda would appear and throw her farther down the track, but her co-captain must be too far behind. Instead, she caught up with Marty, who seemed to have recovered from her previous screams—now if Pyce had recovered from whatever Marty was screaming about, that was another matter entirely. The Gryffindor captain was proud to see Marty throw a health salve ahead to Graci. That poor girl was fortunately—or unfortunately, depending on how you looked at it—in the lead. "Nice one, Marty! You can do it, Laren! Keep flying!"

Alyss was doing well. She was flying straight, refusing to be slowed down by the obstacles in her way. Perhaps this new broom had been worth the absurd number of galleons. She had gotten tripped up on the thorns—nasty things, breaking her skin and leaving long gashes through her skin. She cringed at the pain, but continued along. It was the most she could do.

What's a broom race without danger and pain, she supposed. “Shake it off, Pyce, shake it off.” And while you're at it, bear the pain. How much damage did that caused on the other racer? How hurt was Pyce? She couldn't tell. For precautionary measures, a spell would help.

A healing spell, that is.

Oh lucky for them, she just knows one that would come in handy in situations like this. “Now stay still…” Raizel uttered as she aimed her wand towards her teammate. Better cast it now before she loses sight of Pyce. “Episkey!” And that should keep Pyce alive throughout the whole race… hopefully anyway. It was still a long way for them until the finish line so there were more dangers ahead that could potentially knock them out.

Oh, speaking of.

She was so focused on her teammate that she had failed to notice how dangerously close she was to the trees. Hastily, she tried avoiding whatever was in front of her. One… ow! Well, she tried. At least the rest were easily avoided but oh, she was not done yet. From what she could recall, this was the same area where those eye-poking creatures dwell. She had anticipated their appearance and that allowed her to avoid them entirely. “Pyce’s eyes were not enough for you?” She said with a shake of her head as she continued flying on the track.

Pyce wasn't sure which one of their teammates had healed them, but they were feeling far better than they were, and the bowtruckles had been shaken off. Thank goodness for that. Pyce wiped off what blood they could and looked around. It seemed Raizel might have been the one to help them? They waved a hand in thanks, hoping she could see it.

Pyce started paying attention to where they were flying again just in time to make it through a narrow passage. At least things were back to normal! Until the air started heating up and Pyce began questioning their self-proclaimed resistance to heat. They should probably stop doing that...

"No more healing or support it seems, both teams have decided that violence is the only way to win!" Mylo said, watching the myriad of spells attempt to find their victims. "It seems like nobody is having much success however as non of the spells find their targets, maybe they should've focussed on flying further." He commentated, excluding the fact that Colin hadn't seemed to be able to cast the spell full stop, not wanting to embarrass him in front of everyone by calling him out on it.

As two of the last racers made their way through the trees Mylo winced as Wyatt clipped one of them on the side. "Maybe he's being a bit too reckless trying to make up for lost time but Wyatt seems to have clipped one of the trees in his haste to get through them. Luckily he's able to fly further unhindered, Linda not having had the same problem is racing through them with relative ease!"

It really looked like Blaize was struggling to get through all of the obstacles, the heat as well proving to be more challenging for him than the rest of his opponents and allies. "Blaize seems to be the only one who needs to remember to drink more water, he's starting to look a little worse for wear after failing to endure that heat! Let's just hope it doesn't impact the rest of his race too much!"

They shouted, feeling particularly bad for Blaize who seemed unable to make it through unscathed the last few obstacles. "And a lot of them are starting to slow down, maybe it's a combination of the heat and the blood loss but we'll see if it slows them down too much to secure the victory for their team!"

"Once again we have more trees! As much as they're very pretty to look at they pack a mean punch if you do hit them at the speeds our racers are going at! It seems like both Pyce and Alyss are struggling to avoid the thick trunks that stand in the way between them and the finish line." Wincing as both racers find themselves unable to avoid the unmoving trees, the heat they had previously passed through probably not helping too much either.

They kept on going however, no matter how many times they were hit. It was quite impressive to see, especially with the very very narrow passageway that the racers would once again find themselves facing. "This passageway is a lot harder than the previous one they encountered, and they seem to have underestimated it as none of them make it through unscathed! Maybe a bit more caution is in order to be able to make it to the end conscious?"

"Graci is still leading the pack, trying to keep that gap as wide as possible and score the win for her team! She doesn't seem to be concerned by getting hurt or disadvantaged in the slightest as she keeps pushing forward, however a slight bit of caution might not have done her any harm!" Watching as she not only hit the side of the walls but noticing that as she did so a sticky residue covered her. "Oh, it looks like Graci has encountered the Glumbumble Treacle! Unfortunately for her this stuff is potent, you probably want to avoid getting any of it in your mouth!"

They had a lot of new inhabitants in this race, it was always a good thing to keep the racers on their toes. However Mylo hadn't expected the Screechsnap to be so confusing, maybe it was because they weren't so familiar with it but even he got slightly confused as he heard a shot but loud noise come from the unit Graci was trying to fly through. At least she was flying through it until she came to a complete stop.
It seems like Graci has gotten confused about the noise she heard, no that wasn't a whistle people, that was the lovely Screechsnap that we all just heard. We'll just have to wait and see if she can figure it out on time, before someone else manages to overtake her."

Linda felt joy when she managed to pass trees without struggling with any of them. As far as she could remember, this one the first time. Finally she had something she could be proud of. Even if it was so small and insignificant as this.

A frown crossed Kaitlyn’s features as her spell missed hitting Pyce. Not good. Definitely not good. Ah, well, there was no need to focus on that, while she still had to race! Focusing on the track, she breezed through the moderate heat and through the hard thorns. Sadly, however, she wasn’t able to advance any further. She completely stopped after the hard thorns and glanced around. Three Gryffindor racers were with her in this unit. As she noticed that Colin and Alyss were further ahead, she smiled. Her mind processed the different tactics she could attempt, as the next round was upon them.

The stakes were getting higher—Alyss’ attention was focused entirely on the track ahead of her, and she felt the tell-tale tug of her broom underneath her. Someone was attempting to steal her broom out from under her, but the Slytherin wasn’t going to let that happen. Her fingers began to tingle as she gripped the broom with all her might in an effort to maintain on her path.

Thankfully, Alyss kept ahold of her Silver Arrow, eyes narrowed into slits as she took stock of the situation ahead of her. Well, this would be fun.
