Full of quiet confidence, and cunningly smarter than he often lets on. Beneath the outward show of a lighthearted and selfless good neighbor, Andrew holds little trust and true friendship in wizards, sensitive to the perceived injustices wrought to him and his family, and to history, by wizardkind and the Ministry. Rather it is his sympathetic cause for alleviating the plight of Muggles and non-Humans under the snubbed nose of wizardkind that he remains among wizards, to secure a foothold of influence in the wizarding world, though the allure of power and wealth threatens to corrupt his best intentions. Andrew maintains a cold boundary of professionalism between his Muggle and magical life, unabashedly protective of his Muggle family and heritage. In the public eye, he prefers to keep a low profile, practicing gentleness and humility to gain the loyalty of allies. Violence for him is rarely premeditated, though he has no qualm with using bloodshed to send a message in the heat of the moment. While jovial and affectionate he may be toward any stranger, his deepest thoughts and emotions are reserved for those closest to him.

Pre-Hogwarts

Andrew was born in Romford, London on March 3, 2007. The middle child of three—an older sister and a younger brother, both fatefully Muggles. His father was the primary caregiver, working from home as a software developer, while his mother worked at a nearby hospital as a medical technologist. Andrew's only complaint would be not seeing as much of his parents' faces as he would have liked, his father holed up in his study while his mother grinded overtime at the laboratory, though the company of his siblings and weekends together with his parents more than made up for any lack of undivided attention.

With loving parents and equally supportive siblings, a comfortable house in an urban neighborhood, close-knit with relatives and healthy circle of friends, Andrew would consider his childhood to be peaceful and idyllic. A clean-cut, church-going boy, with simple desire to make God and family proud and become a productive member of society. He began primary school at a local state school in Romford, and fared socially and academically well among his peers. Unaware he was anything but ordinary, his early years blissful and content.

Over the years, no signs of magic manifested themselves as profoundly odd in front of Andrew and his family so as to warrant suspicion about himself. Though in hindsight, with the arrival of a certain letter from Hogwarts, many a strange and miraculous circumstance would be explained.

First Instance of Magic: At seven years old, Andrew and his family were attending a house party of one of his mother's friends. A party that went on late into the night. While playing around the house with the other kids, Andrew happened to pass by a movie screening in a dark room, and so snuck in to watch, unaware that it was adult horror film. During a jump-scare point in the movie, Andrew's fright zapped off the television. A moment of confusion and annoyance from the crowd until a manual tinkering shortly resumed the film, none too bizarre as to warrant supernatural suspicion, as Andrew slunk away from the scene to forget all about it.

Due to the closeness of his paternal side, Andrew's grandparents (Charles and Hannah), aunt (Cynthia) and two uncles (Thomas and Baylor) were also sworn to Secrecy to protect Andrew's wizard identity. The group of nine confidants (including his parents and siblings) was dubbed “The Fellowship” by Andrew's sister, Stacy.

Dropout & Return

Andrew was cursed during the Slytherin House Attack Adventure in February 2020. Due to personal/family emotional trauma over this life-threatening experience, Andrew dropped out of Hogwarts at the start of winter break in December 2021 (after his curse was cured in November 2021) and was enrolled in magical homeschooling. Due to lack of motivation in his magical studies, Andrew remained a fourth year (missing years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023) until his change of mind in early 2023. He re-enrolled at Hogwarts, intending to return for the 2023-2024 school year (at which his peers would be sixth years), and decided to take the Advancement Program to help him catch up with the rest of his class.

Through the Advancement Program, Andrew became a fifth year over the summer 2023, though interference from his Muggle life (his desire to focus on getting ahead in his Muggle education, first) delayed his return for yet another year, returning to Hogwarts for the 2024-2025 school year instead.

Born in Hayes, England as the second child of Charles and Hannah Vance. Repulsed by the alcoholism that plagued his family during his youth, Michael was the only one of his siblings to never touch the bottle. Soul-searching in his teens, he found solace in the church and eventually his wife Carroll. Techy and knowledgeable, he was the closest parent Andrew could always turn to for answers and advice, being a stay-at-home dad.

A devout Christian, Michael was horrified to learn that magic was all too real, fearing Andrew's soul would be damned to Hell by pursuing magic. Angry at the system, rather than his son, he never once blamed Andrew or ostracized him for being a wizard. The road to acceptance was long, nearly a three-year break from Hogwarts allowing Andrew and his father much-needed time to bond and build a new perspective about magic. In the end, Michael respects Andrew's life decisions, not to sever himself from his son entirely. For all his skepticism, he remains a supportive parent.

He and Andrew are a near spitting image of each other, both in looks and in many ways, personality. Perhaps Fate's karmic twist of an alternate life, for a father to live through his son, and for a son to right the wrongs of his father's past. Andrew holds his father in high esteem, as the biggest role model in his life, understanding his father's anger and frustration comes from a place of love in wanting to protect his children from harm.

While ultimately standing beside her husband and his misgivings about magic, she is much more willing to compromise and adapt, to remain close with her children. Andrew loves his mother dearly and her efforts to mediate between him and his father.

An avid follower of the supernatural teen genre, growing up; Stacy couldn't have been more proud, ecstatic, and envious to learn that her little brother Andrew was a wizard. While Andrew did his best to quell Stacy's curiosity, feeding her tidbits and trinkets from Hogwarts and trips to Diagon Alley, little did he realize just how obsessed and desperate his sister was, that it was her life's mission to marry a wizard, to become part of the magical world.

She latched onto Abraham Hill, a childhood family friend turned boyfriend, and began studying Veterinary Medicine in 2022, her enrollment at Cambridge University a ploy in order to be closer to Abe and his hometown. The two announced their engagement in July 2024, with Stacy dropping out of university shortly afterward. Despite her parents' qualms about marrying too young, she and Abe tied the knot on April 14, 2025, moving to their marital home (aka. apartment room) in Godric's Hollow. Stacy befriended a few of Abe's schoolmates, one of them connecting her to a bakery in Diagon Alley for her to work at, another to horses in Godric's Hollow for her to take care of and ride. Her next mission? Have a wizard baby, of course…

Her ambition in achieving a Muggle to magical rags-to-riches fantasy, Andrew commends his sister to be far more "Slytherin" than he is. In many ways, he owes his return to magic because of her, for giving him the Hills as in-laws, helping to mend old bridges between the two families.

A passionate equestrian, artist, and baker. Stacy's baked goods are a staple delivery of her care packages for Andrew at Hogwarts.
