Littermates, born to one of the many strays at Aunt Cynthia's farm. Adopted by the Vances in December 2014 as an early Christmas gift, at the pleading of Andrew and his siblings. Andrew is fond of Duchess, the more sociable one. They reside at the Vance house.

The Vances' first family pets, bought at Andrew's plea as an early birthday present, quite a milestone for him at four years old. Under Andrew's blue thumb, they grew from quarter-sized to 7-inch long giants, upgrading to a 50-gallon aquarium showcased at the entrance hallway of the Vance house. Sparky was his favorite.

Former marine engineering technician in the Royal Navy (1979–2014), Charles retired from the Navy to spend more time with his grandchildren, working as a gardener for his wife Hannah at her gardening business, closer to home. He and Hannah lived in Hayes (West London) before moving to Southampton in June 2024, to a waterfront house in Ocean Village, beginning their retirement together and reuniting Charles with his love for the ocean.
Bit of a workaholic who likes to keep his words few and hands busy. If not out on the water, then some house or garden project he's up to. Has an extensive model ship collection and often a hidden stash of chocolate for him and Andrew to share. Andrew inherited his sweet tooth from him. Taught Andrew everything he knows about fishing and sailing. His life in the Navy inspired Andrew to join the Royal Air Force, to conquer the air like his grandfather did the sea.

Ran her own small gardening business that Andrew grew up helping out with, for an extra paycheck. Her pastime is filled with garden catalogues, conversations about plants, and entertaining tea parties with members of her garden club, preferably while lounging on a yacht with her husband Charles. While Hannah's disinterest in baking meant her grandchildren would never know the nostalgia of grandma's cookies, she did teach them to love their vegetables.
She and Charles have four children together: Dean, Michael, Cynthia, and Baylor. Her brother, Arthur, is the grandfather of Olive Campbell.

Kevin Dalton

Born in America to Korean immigrants. A Vietnam War veteran, he anglicized his name to Kevin Dalton prior to marrying Rosalie and moving to England to start their family. Died from chronic alcoholism in winter 2005 when Andrew was a toddler. What little Andrew had been told about him, he was a hopeless yet peaceful drunk that his wife and daughter could somehow still respect after his death.

Born in America to Filipino immigrants. After marrying Kevin, she and her husband moved to Northumberland, England where their only child Carroll was born. She remains in Northumberland, working as a caregiver. Called "Lola" by her grandchildren, she travels annually to Romford to spend the Christmas season with her daughter, bunking in Stacy's room at the Vance house. Andrew is fond of the Asian soups she likes to cook in winter.

Formerly known as Dean Cowell during his Hogwarts years (1990-1997), his pure-blood ancestry was discovered forged shortly after the Muggle-Born Registration Commission was instated during the Second Wizarding War. An affair with Estelle Notrésvace resulted in their love child, Aurelia Notrésvace. Under his pure-blood name, Albert Keiran Nithercott, he married Saoirse Hawkins and became step-father to Maggie Hawkins, taking his wife's surname until their divorce in April 2024.

The third child of Charles and Hannah Vance. A hermitish yet fearless career woman. She and her husband Thomas work remotely from home and live on a 24-acre hobby farm in Taunton, Somerset; the Patterson farm being a frequent destination for Vance-Patterson get-togethers and holiday getaways, where Andrew and his siblings spent many birthdays and summers with their cousins, growing up. Andrew especially loves her chocolate cream pies.
She and Thomas have five children together: Olivia, Alex, Eric, David, and Sophia.
