This event is part of the 2026 International Magical Olympic Games.
February 16th, 2026
Lake Bear (frozen), Russian Federation
The Lake was still frozen from the wintry Siberian cold as well as yesterday's opening festivities. Now at midday, however, there was no stage near the icy sheet, but instead a small dais with several seats and a long table in front of them. Score sheets lined the table from edge to edge, and in each of the chairs sat a different headmaster or director from one of the international schools. @Aulis Vorozheykin, as the host of the Games, sat on one end; then down the line came @Célestine de la Croix-Valmer from Beauxbâtons, @Anthonie Engelbrecht of Uagadou, and finally Durmstrang's @Emery Albrecht.

As for the crowds of cheering students, lots of chairs had been Summoned (or, more likely, Transfigured from shoreline rocks by the Vedma of Transfiguration) and scattered upon the cold shore. Small fires were lit in stone-lined fireplaces in various locations, allowing those who had gathered to watch to stay warm whilst they gazed upon the spectacle.

Oh, for what a spectacle it was! Russia was famous for their Muggle ice skating, and the magical version was no different - if perhaps with a bit more glitz and glamour. Out on the icy expanse, solo skaters and pair skaters were warming up, all dressed to the nines in sparkles and skating outfits galore. How they weren't cold may have been a mystery to Muggles, but of course everyone's outfits had been enchanted to stay warm so that the frigid weather would be no issue for today's athletes. There was to be a solo competition and a partner competition, each divided into two heats, one for the 1st-3rd years and the other for 4th-7th.

Of course, there were also plenty of onlookers gathered to cheer on their friends and spectate the matches, both for the younger years and the elders! Who would take home the two shimmering gold medals sitting encased in glass on the side of the table? Well, we will just have to wait and see...

The first day of sports had finally arrived here at the International Magical Olympic Games, and Aly Salinger was positively raring to go despite not being an athlete herself. Armed with her trusty magical camera and a whole boatload of film (courtesy of her knight in shining armour and yurt-mate Marshal), the seventh-year raced down to the frozen lake from her yurt at midday with nary a moment to spare before the festivities kicked off. She did her best to jot down all of the names of the competitors on a small pad of parchment she'd brought along, taking mental notes as to who seemed to be the favourite based on cheers from the crowd and murmurs from those seated around her on the rocky shores of the lake (thank Merlin someone had thought to set out chairs).

Most of the names weren't particularly familiar to her in the younger bracket, though she did know some of them vaguely in passing; however, it was the elder years' soloist competition she was truly here to see. Yes, Aly was technically in attendance at the IMOG to cover all of the sports for the Hogwarts Headliner and report back on all the wins and losses and dramatics and whatnot, but she couldn't have passed up a trip that involved supporting her friends. Two of her best mates were competing on this, the first day of the sports, and Aly couldn't help but wonder - between Eve and Peri, who would go home victorious and come back to their Friendship-themed yurt that evening with a shiny golden medal draped around their neck? (Or perhaps they wouldn't actually get the medal until the ceremony later that weekend. Aly wasn't quite sure, and she made another mental note to ask the Director of Studies at Koldovstoretz about the specifics of the timeline. All in the name of research, you know.)

When it came time for Eve and for Peri to step onto the ice for their respective short programs, Aly found herself setting down her journalistic materials and clapping and shouting as loudly as the rest of the gathered spectators, if not perhaps a bit louder. "Woooo! That's the spirit! You've got this, Eve! You've got this, Peri!" she cheered, holding up two handmade signs that flashed in all the colours of the Hogwarts houses (courtesy of the banner-making event held back at her home school a few weeks before). The journalist had managed to pack these in her satchel and keep them totally secret from both of her mates, so hopefully they would be a lovely surprise for when-slash-if they managed to glance her way. Not that she wanted to distract them, but hopefully a friendly face in the crowd would go a long way towards soothing their nerves.

To many people, I must’ve looked like I had no idea where I was during the first rounds of figure skating. I stood at the back of the chairs, raising an eyebrow every so often, when someone had a particularly bold outfit choice. I didn’t even know why I was there, except from I didn’t know where else to go.
However, when the partners event started, I saw someone who I hadn’t been expecting - @Avery Grey, who I’d met during the summer, when she’d come to my house. Finally seeing a chance to look like I was actually happy to be there, I went up to the front, and cheered.
“Go Avery!”
She was with someone who I hadn’t seen before, but I supposed that they must know each other to an extent if they were skating together. Although, I was doing bobsledding with someone I’d never met, but it was a very different sport - less grace, more violence.
I turned around, to see what everyone else was doing, but was quickly bored, so turned back around.
Their routine looked quite complex, and I hoped they would win, so at least someone I knew could take home a medal.

Damien had always dreamed of visiting other schools ever since he started at Hogwarts, he always found them interesting especially how different they could be from Hogwarts. So the fact that he was able to come visit Koldovstoretz for the International Magic Olympics Games made it all the more special. He never planned to participle as he never really found alot of those sports interesting so he instead focus his attention into something more productive. He had heard about how Giovanni and Elena were both going to participate in the Olympics in figure skating together, hearing that honestly made Damien heart flutter a bit as he thought about how majestic and graceful both Elena and Giovanni would look as they preformed together on the ice. Damien was still getting used to all his feelings he had been feeling as after his birthday party and family gala he realized it wasn’t just admiration he felt for Giovanni and Elena but was a romantic attraction too, granted he would never say that out loud to them as he would be way too embarrassed but he was at least coming to terms with those feelings.

Damien had decided to make them a small poster to show his support of them on the rink, he made it be moonlight theme with beautiful stars all on it along with there names and the moon engulfing the background of it, Damien honestly loved making posters and banners it allowed him to push the boundaries of his art and make something truly special. Now he was currently sitting down in the stands as he was spectating the matches waiting for Giovanni and Elena’s set. He never knew it would be this cold in Russian so he was glad he wore his fur coat, it was soft and quite warm. He honestly didn’t know what animal it was made out of he made a mental note to ask his mother where this fur came from next time he saw her.

Once this set had finished there turn he noticed Giovanni and Elena moving onto the ice, his mouth fell widen open you would think he was struck in the face by someone. They looked absolutely stunning in there outfits, Damien had to remember to keep his mouth closed and to not stare to hard he honestly thought he was observing a prince and princess who looked absolutely elegant. He quickly clapped and cheer along with the crowd before he held up the poster for the two of them as he made sure they hopefully could hear him cheering for them. “Woo! Go Elena and Giovanni you got this!” He smiled brightly as he kept the poster held up high, he wanted to make sure they knew he supported them and was rooting for them no matter the outcome.

xx16/Feb./26x 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭-𝐕𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚 Alluring Effect »--------------------⌲ Speech: "Example"「Lorenzo Vincenti」
x
It was a rare occasion for his father, Salvatore Vincenti, to allow him a wholly unsupervised outing. Under ordinary circumstances, so Lorenzo could well imagine, he would have been trailed by no fewer than two or three adults. Each prepared to judge every angle of his spine as insufficiently upright. Yet in the course of a school-sanctioned ‘cultural exchange opportunity’, the notion of Lorenzo enduring the Siberian cold seemed to please his father. It might have been a hymn to creativity. A song of praise to future freedoms, or perhaps simply a comfortably emotional reprieve, far from the bunk-bed hell of a Ravenclaw Tower. Perhaps all of it at once, if not for a certain coincidence. For it was exactly that, which set its foot upon the ice just as Lorenzo had begun admiring the red hair of a girl. It was none other than Camille De Varenne.
Lorenzo’s shoulders dared to sink beneath his thick coat. The face that only moments before had been at ease twisted until a puzzled frown clung stubbornly to his brow. It was entirely impossible not to fix his gaze upon his bunkmate, for, as always, Camille carried that effortless self-possession in motion. The young Italian lost posture, moving deeper into his chair. Even the warmth of the nearby fire could not distract him. At the sight of romance unfolding upon the ice, Lorenzo’s fingers slipped into his dark sleeves. Irritably he rubbed his left thumb against the soft lining, only to cast his gaze from Camille to the girl’s gleaming dress and back. Love seemed to Lorenzo as though it hung in the air the same way snowflakes and bubbles began to join the show. It drifted down upon the two of them as naturally as every stone belongs to Brunelleschi’s dome. So very natural in fact, that it stands firm despite all the world’s contrary theses.
Lorenzo swallowed. For a moment his dry throat burned at the softening lines upon the Frenche‘s face. He slowly pressed his fingernail deeper into the fabric. They seemed to be flying across the ice, but unfortunately Camille did not fly onto his face. His neck, too, remained unscathed. Nor was the pretty girl in his arms be granted an early sleep in her grave. Even though for her closeness to Camille, she rather deserved it.

All at once, something seemed to stir at the corner of Lorenzo’s eye. The locked jaw and the stern blue gaze loosened for a moment from the ice. They wandered across the fire that danced idly nearby. The snow lay as it always did, and the other spectators had not stirred with any unusual restlessness as well. No newcomer had arrived. No one had stepped within his reach. Nor had anyone gathered near him readily preparing criticism. For a moment confusion threatened to settle in — only to be replaced by the awkward realisation that he must have imagined it. Nothing had moved, thus
Lorenzo exhaled softly. The warm breath dissolved into a small white cloud as he turned his head back toward the pair. The hardness was already preparing to return to his eyes, lying poised beneath the lashes and ready to fall once more into that irritated stare.
When the sight made him falter; the colours personally betrayed him.
As though the young Ravenclaw had missed some great milestone in Camille’s romantic life, a startled sound escaped him. Where moments before there had been green, red now stared back at him. Camille’s surely deliberate assault to Lorenzo‘s senses was followed by yet another display.
They leapt. A perfectly synchronised jump.
Lorenzo held his breath. His lips pressed tightly together, bracing for impact. Before he quite noticed, he found himself wishing it would succeed. For once, no Grim Reaper should wait for Camille. The wish for misfortune came undone. Perhaps that very realisation was what sent the shiver along his spine. The softer lines of his face slipped away. Lorenzo‘s fingers shot from his sleeves. The cold air seemed just as bewildered as he felt. Suddenly, he had seen enough. After the few performances, none of students Lorenzo could recognise, it was his bunkmate who had stolen his mood. The irritation pressed its cold hands into Lorenzo’s cheeks. With the tip of his nose reddened, he set the feet bundled in winter shoes upon the floor and rose. It was time to leave.
