❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️The Lake was still frozen from the wintry Siberian cold as well as yesterday's opening festivities. Now at midday, however, there was no stage near the icy sheet, but instead a small dais with several seats and a long table in front of them. Score sheets lined the table from edge to edge, and in each of the chairs sat a different headmaster or director from one of the international schools. @Aulis Vorozheykin, as the host of the Games, sat on one end; then down the line came @Célestine de la Croix-Valmer from Beauxbâtons, @Anthonie Engelbrecht of Uagadou, and finally Durmstrang's @Emery Albrecht.
This event is part of the 2026 International Magical Olympic Games. February 16th, 2026 Lake Bear (frozen), Russian Federation
As for the crowds of cheering students, lots of chairs had been Summoned (or, more likely, Transfigured from shoreline rocks by the Vedma of Transfiguration) and scattered upon the cold shore. Small fires were lit in stone-lined fireplaces in various locations, allowing those who had gathered to watch to stay warm whilst they gazed upon the spectacle.
Oh, for what a spectacle it was! Russia was famous for their Muggle ice skating, and the magical version was no different - if perhaps with a bit more glitz and glamour. Out on the icy expanse, solo skaters had just finished their programs and the pair skaters were warming up, all dressed to the nines in sparkles and skating outfits galore. How they weren't cold may have been a mystery to Muggles, but of course everyone's outfits had been enchanted to stay warm so that the frigid weather would be no issue for today's athletes. The solo competition had just finished, so now it was time for the pairs, which would be judged in two heats: first through third years having just finished, and now for the fourth through seventh years. Who would take home the two shimmering gold medals sitting encased in glass on the side of the table? Well, we will just have to wait and see...
HOW TO PLAY
There will be two rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats in your post.
Each round, you MUST perform a Mundane Action from the Mundane Actions List; you can also perform a Magical Action from the Magical Actions List if you want for potential bonus points. As this thread is for Partners, your Actions can either be those that are tagged [Solo] or [Partner] on the actions list.
If you choose to do [Solo] actions, you can either do different actions to gain different amount of points or you can choose to do the same [Solo] action and have an extra WIS roll added for synchronization, which is hard to achieve but can reward bonus points.
If you choose to do a [Partner] action, you must do the same partner action as your partner. These are harder, but provide more points!
Performing the Mundane Action gets a certain number of points if you succeed and no points if you fail. Performing the Magical Action gets you more bonus points if you succeed, but you LOSE points if you fail.
Please include what action you are doing, as well as what level (Single/Double/Triple/Quad), at the bottom of your post. Different levels and different actions have different passing DCs and award different numbers of points! You cannot post an action for your partner - each partner must post individually in the thread each round.
Also in the first round, please include (in a Reducio underneath your action) the title and artist of the song to which you are skating (this must be a song that we can listen to IN REAL LIFE) as well as a picture (NOT a link to a picture) of your characters' skating outfits. Bonus points will be awarded to the Best Music and Best Outfit, as determined by a staff vote.
This event is moderated and it was required to sign up for it ahead of time. Please do NOT post here if your character is not signed up.
Please do not godmod Aulis or any of the other judges.

Seeing the light with @AngelFyre McCubbin
There was a stillness in the moment.
With so many people in the arena, there was a pause as a hush fell over the crowd as they took to the ice together. Their blades moved across the surface of the icein perfect sync and their costumes shimmered faintly, bringing out the hints of crimsom within them.
Simon bowed polietly to the judges and delivered one of his award winning smiles before he drifted apart from her, moving the the opposite end of the rink. The arena lights dimmed around them and then separate spotlights casted upon each of them.
They move along the ice and begin their routine.
The music plays and they continue to skate - seperate from one another. AngelFyre is at one end of the rink and he at the other. They skate alone.
It's as if they are unaware of the other's existence. Simon keeps his movements long, exploratory and as the routine plays on, he gravitates closer toward the middle of the rink - as does she. He sees her, and smiles, and soon he begins moving circles around her, indicating that it is apparent she has caught his attention. At one point, they skate close enough that their hands brush one another and that's when Simon discretely takes his wand and casts the Color Changing Spell on her, hoping that the patterns along the fabric of their costumes begins to glow.
This is their first judged element and the first moment that counts but he still just takes in her, only her.
Then, almost immediately, as if drawn by the same invisible force, they move. Their hands lowe rand their chins lift and in perfect unison they hook into their edges and rise into triple layback spins. Three rotations done fast, centered, their lines perfect and showing excelence and Simon knows all their practice had paid off.
Their rotations accelerate and they pull in at exactly the same moment, tightening their arms to increase speed and then releasing outward. Simon could tell that their sychhronization was fantastic. No longer were these two skaters skating alone but they were skating together in perfect harmony - with all their heart and soul.
They turned forward again and locked their eyes. The spotlight shifted, merging to jsut one on the center of the ice. Their two separate stories now read as one.
And this was one of his favorite parts of the routine, she nwo smiled to him playfully and then pushed away from him, moving away from her with her skirt swishing as she did. He watches her create a distance and smiled but before she could get too far away, Simon reached out and took hold of her ankle and pulls her, causing her to glide back to him.
Their routine plays out as they skate together a little more and now it was time for the Triple Twist Lift. They had done this so many times during practice and Simon was confident that he and AngelFyre could pull this off. Solid eye contact meant that she was reading and he lauched her into the air with precision and watched as she rose high above him. She went into rotation - one twist, two, three.... and he could only hope that it was excuted as perfectly as it had been all the times they rehearsed.
Onward the routine travels and soon moves from powerful to intimate. Their final passes across the ice are slower but as graceful as ever. It's not long before the spotlight narrows onto the two of them. Simon could feel ethat they did well in this, no matter if any small mishaps might have been made and he pressed his forehead gently to hers. His hand moves up to the back of her head and gently slips the pin free from her hair, causing her golden hair to cascade down her back.
The spotlight grows even smalle runtil only their silhouettes remain and then darkness as the music falls to silence.
They were were they were meant to be.

Monday, 16 February 2026 — Bear Lake
Olympians. It boggled her mind.
AngelFyre had imagined herself as many things, but being an Olympian was never one of them. That she was getting this opportunity now was a dream come true... not hers, but her mother's. Still, it was an honor and one she took seriously. And that she was getting to do it with Simon was the very best part for her. Everything she and Simon were about to do was only possible because of Annene McCubbin.
Her mother had dreamed as a child of being a Team USA figure skater, and she was good and got to the qualifications round to go to the Olympics in 1988 at the tender age of 16, but the qualifications round is where it all ended for her. When AngelFyre casually mentioned in an owl that there were going to be International Magic Olympic Games in Russia this year, her mother was beside herself with joy and coaxed her daughter to participate, which prompted AngelFyre, in turn, to coax Simon to be a figure skater with her.
He was a good sport about it and she knew he was probably wishing to have participated on the hockey team instead, but here they both were, after months and months of practicing on the Great Lake since the games had been announced, about to start the routine choreographed by her mother. Her mother had made it a mission in life to see to it that AngelFyre knew how to figure skate, so Simon was getting it second hand from a true amateur. She had no idea how it was actually going to come out in the end, but it had been so much fun practicing and working on the lifts, even if the falls were sometimes painful.
She looked over at him and smiled a little nervously, squeezing his hand three times, signalling she loved him. Simon was the natural-born performer between the two. A spotlight was never where she wanted to be, which was quite ironic given the staging of their routine. Before they skated out onto the darkened, bluish-gray ice of Lake Bear, she told him through their Binding Mark that no matter what happened out there, it was all going to be fine. They were just here to have fun, and if they medaled... well, that would just be a bonus.
The crowd quieted as they skated to the area right in front of where the judges were. It was not that far, but it felt like time was slowing down and she was moving through Jell-O. The only thing she heard was their blades scraping against the ice upon their approach. She looked sideways at Simon, and he did not seem to be nervous at all. That helped to relax her. She was able to smile to the judges and did her quarter-waist bows before letting go of Simon's hand.
Well, he let go first. She held on for a second or two longer and then turned her back to him, skating in the opposite direction. It was not night, but it was cold and gray this time of day in the Ural Mountains. The skating competitions had started at mid-day, so the sun was very low in the sky. That worked out perfectly for their staging. She had spoken to the folks at Gladrags in Hogsmeade and had been able to get their outfits enchanted, so for a good portion of their routine, a magical spotlight would follow each of them on the ice.
They were wearing dark, drab competition clothing, almost a black cherry color of sorts, which was to represent the distance between them and the darkness they were moving through in life as single folk. The spotlight over her and the one over Simon would come on just before the music was to start, giving them a countdown of sorts. When it started, she and the judges and the audience would be hearing 'I See the Light' from Disney's animated film Tangled.
The music began softly, just the first strumming of strings, and AngelFyre gently pushed off, gliding on the dark lake as if stepping into a dream. Her movements were unhurried, almost hesitant, tracing long, sweeping forward outside edges that occasionally glistened when the enchanted spotlight hit just right. She allowed one arm to drift behind her while the other floated forward, her body language open but searching… as if she was listening for something she could not yet name.
She next positioned herself into a gentle three turn, her blade carving a crescent of silver across the ice. The shift sent her backward, drifting into slow, breath-like cross rolls. Her hair, pinned in its elegantly loose bun, caught the light with a radiance all its own. She lifted into a soft inside edge spiral... it was not a showpiece move, just a quiet moment of longing before she lowered into a mohawk transition that turned her forward again.
Across the lake, she knew Simon was skating his own path, feigning unawareness of her. If their practices were a prologue to this moment, she knew his edges were deep, steady, almost meditative. He had come a long way from hockey jock to becoming a paragon of grace on ice, and she knew her boy. He was moving with the grounded confidence of someone who pretended to not yet realize his world was about to tilt.
AngelFyre meanwhile was pushing into a slow one foot glide, her breath fogging in the frigid air. Then the music began to swell…it was her first hint of wondercue in the story … and she rose into a small, instinctive waltz jump in character upon first laying eyes on the handsome boy still a distance away. It was light and effortless, and it brought the first spark of real joy she felt in the performance.
She landed with a soft whisper of blades, her body stilling mid-glide as her eyes locked onto Simon across the lake. He turned at the same moment, almost as if sensing her presence like a shift in the wind, and with his dhampir's heightened sense of smell, that was entirely possible. The air between them tightened then brightened, as if something as deep as the lake itself was waking up.
Their paths shifted, drawing them into a diagonal approach. As they neared the center, circling each other slowly, the golden light from their individual spotlights deepened, and the ice beneath them shimmered faintly. When they passed one another, their hands brushed for the briefest moment, and this moment always touched AngelFyre as it was such a touch that started everything for them in real life. The touch was feather light, but her heart always raced… for her Rapunzel character and for herself.
They turned back toward each other, drawn now by an invisible thread. The drifting motes above the lake turned golden in the brightness of the spotlights, responding to the shift neither character fully understood. They met again at the center, breath mingling in the cold air, as two lights shone down upon them. AngelFyre lifted her wand hand, her eyes luminous with quiet certainty and cast the Clothing Colour-Changing Charm at Simon, quietly but confidently incanting “Multicorfors”.
Simon mirrored her, steady and sure. Two spells arced across the space between them and as they traveled, the individual spotlights melded into one as both she and Simon dropped into synchronized Triple Layback Spins.
AngelFyre’s body arced into a perfect line, or it felt that way. Simon’s form she was positive was strong and centered, his silhouette cutting through the golden glow with quiet power. Their merged spotlight spiraled around them, and the ice bloomed with phantom reflections of lanterns not truly there, a million tiny lights only seeming to rise beneath their blades.
Simon rose from his spin a nanosecond before her. He steadied himself, breathing and smiling deeply, and extended his hand toward her. The gesture was protective and reverent, as though he were asking her to step fully into the light with him... into a life with him. AngelFyre reached her full height once again, her eyes finding his instantly. She glided toward him, her hand slipping into his with absolute certainty.
Together, they moved forward.
This was not a moment that was offered in their program for judging, but simply for the drama of it in the storytelling. This is when everything changed for Rapunzel and Flynn and they both saw the light. Was it too on the nose and cheesy? Maybe. But AngelFyre and Simon could not care less. They could only relate to the moment and how it had felt for them when it had happened in their real lives, and it still could catch them off guard in such moments even years later.
Their costumes were supposed to change color, of course, and style to a degree. The enchantments that had been cast upon the clothing, should the spells work, would have them go from dark to light. As the two were being transformed in their layback spins, the blades on their skates, also enchanted, cast a warm, golden-orange glow on the ice wherever they traveled. They were still steeped in light, but hopefully it would be one, larger and brighter beam instead of two dimmer, and much lonelier ones.
As they were coming to the big finale, things were getting intense. She could feel her nervousness growing, but she knew they could do it. They had landed the Triple Twist 99% of the time in their last 18 hours of practice, so she was hopeful it would be no different when it needed to count. And it counted now as this was the move they had put in to be judged as their partner move. If it went awry, she knew it would be 100% her fault as it had been in all of the practices when they were not successful.
Simon was strong enough, but he was not the one rotating and getting dizzy while having to stick a landing. She took a deep breath and cleared her mind, letting her body take over the next moments and operate on muscle memory.
The moment was now upon them.
Simon’s hands found her waist, and she stepped into the lift with complete trust. He launched her upward in a clean, powerful Triple Twist Lift, and she rose like a lantern being released into the night. Her costume caught the golden reflections, scattering light across the lake. When she landed, she hoped to see the ice ripple with a warm orange and gold glow from her blades, as though another thousand lanterns had just lifted off beneath the surface.
Together they glided out of the lift in a soft arc, and AngelFyre moved ahead for a breath, one leg parallel to the ice. Simon reached forward, catching her ankle with a gentle, practiced pullback. She spun gracefully toward him, her movement fluid and bright, and he drew her into a close, intimate hold. It was playful and tender, a moment that spoke of trust and connection. This was AngelFyre’s one contribution to her mother’s choreography because she just knew, without having to tell him what to do, that Simon, as Flynn, would naturally reach out for her. He had told her so many times it was his favorite part of the program, and that just made her heart soar.
As the program was now winding down, they transitioned into a wide, sweeping arc along the lake’s edge. AngelFyre extended into a deep arabesque spiral, one leg lifted behind her, her body leaning gracefully over the ice. Simon followed just behind her, holding her hand, matching her line and her speed. Their bodies moved as one, the golden spotlight stretching their silhouettes across the lake like twin brushstrokes of shadows.
As the music softened, the lantern reflections began to fade. The golden motes drifted downward like falling embers. The frozen lake dimmed again, leaving only a single, warm spotlight that expanded just enough to hold them both.
They glided toward each other, the world narrowing to the space between their hearts and within that light. When they reached the center, they came to a gentle stop. Simon leaned in, resting his forehead against hers. Slowly, while looking deeply into her eyes, his hand moved to the back of her head, a gesture full of reverence and promise. He released her hair clip and when he did, a waterfall of enchanted faux fur, 10 times longer than her own hair, cascaded and tumbled around them in a soft pool, catching the last of the lantern light.
AngelFyre closed her eyes. Simon breathed her in.
The spotlight faded to black.
The lake went dark.
And all was nothing but momentary silence after the final notes echoed out across Lake Bear.

Monday, 16 February 2026 — Bear Lake
In a perfect world, their routine would have unfolded exactly as she and Simon had imagined it… luminous costumes seamlessly changed and an effortless Triple Twist Lift landed with exacting precision and grace. The kind of performance her mother would have cried over, the kind of performance that would have lived forever in the golden glow of their memories, even if those memories did not include two golden-colored medals.
But they were ruthlessly reminded that they did not live in a perfect world.
The first hint of trouble came to her in a flicker of disappointment that shadowed Simon’s face. It was gone almost instantly, buried beneath his performer’s poise, but she knew him too well. And then she felt it herself… her costume had not changed. The spell she cast on him had worked, she could clearly see that, but the one meant for her had failed.
There was no time to dwell on it. They were already moving into their synchronized triple layback spins. They each came out of them at the same moment, but she knew the full impact of the moment was lost with only one of them in a changed costume. For one thing, there were still two spotlights following them around as opposed to the singular, brighter one that should have illuminated them as one.
The magic was for bonus points only, so she pushed the disappointment aside and turned her thoughts to everything still before them. Seeing Simon in his transformed costume made her smile and her heart skip, and that was enough for the moment. That part went off like clockwork at least.
But the critical moment, the highlight of the routine… their Triple Twist Lift… was approaching, and this was the move that actually mattered.
She stepped into his hands with full trust, but the moment she left the ice AngelFyre felt it… her own hesitation, the tiniest misalignment in her rotation. Simon lifted and tossed her cleanly, but she was a hair off and it amplified after only one rotation. Her core tightened instinctively, but she knew the rotation wobble would not settle.
Simon sensed it instantly.
He stepped forward beneath her with the kind of instinct that came from months of practice and years of loving her, catching her securely across his shoulder. The glide that followed was sweeping and protective, his strength absorbing the momentum of her descent. It was not the Triple Twist Lift. It was not what they needed for the judges. But it was safe. It was graceful. And to anyone who did not know better, it looked like it belonged in the choreography.
But the judges did know better, and AngelFyre knew they needed to salvage the moment.
"Simon," she called to him through the Binding Mark, her mental voice steady despite the adrenaline coursing through her veins. "My clothes did not change and the twist did not land. We need to implement Plan Déjà Vu. I will cast the charm on myself this time around."
His response was immediate and reassuring. "Just like we have practiced. With you, love."
They had accounted for any number of errors or mishaps in their routine. The possibility of only one costume changing was a concern, but one they could live with. The possibility of only one costume changing AND the Triple Twist Lift not executing as planned was something they decidedly could not live with. Hence, the necessity for Plan Déjà Vu. It was an automatic restart point, taking them both back to the clothing Color-Changing Charm approach within their routine, allowing them to cut out other lovely, but extraneous moves no one would miss, including the judges, while still getting to the heart of their routine.
They were still in motion, still in character, still in the flow of the music. Nothing had stopped. Nothing had broken. They had simply improvised and shifted priorities in the moment.
AngelFyre glided ahead and away from him, letting the choreography move her to the setup for her spell casting. When she curved back toward him, the music began to swell and she raised her wand, casting “Multicorfors!” upon herself before they both dropped into their synchronized layback spins, their bodies arcing and picking up speed in perfect unison as the world narrowed to the shared axis between them.
Even while spinning, AngelFyre felt certain that her costume had changed this time. She could not look down, but her sleeves seemed brighter. Perhaps it was only the light from Simon's brighter, more golden spotlight, but she could swear she felt the shift. It would not count for points, but it would complete their story and unify their program. After all, Flynn and Rapunzel had their fits and starts, just as she and Simon had, long before the coming together truly took place.
Perhaps their initial mishap fit the storytelling better.
They rose from their spins together, breath syncing and eyes locking. "Ready?" she asked, her confidence returning.
"Always," he answered, steady and sure, but not in a cocky way.
They repeated the flirtatious portions of their routine… the hand brush and the ankle pullback… but the real make or break moment was still ahead. They moved into position for the Triple Twist Lift again, this time with the full weight of their concentration and trust behind it.
Simon’s hands found her waist, grounding her, steadying her, and AngelFyre felt the familiar surge of certainty rise through her like lava through a volcano. She bent her knees, centered her weight, and let the world fall away. Simon launched her fearlessly, trusting her to find her rotation and stick the landing, and her prayers rose with her as she spiraled upward.
Whatever the judges saw, whatever the scores said, this was the lift that mattered. This was the moment that defined them, for good or bad, in these Magical Olympic Games.
And as AngelFyre descended toward Simon, she knew the rest of their story would unfold exactly as it was meant to.
They glided together into the final pass of their program, the golden spotlight widening just enough to hold them both. When they reached the center, Simon leaned in, resting his forehead gently against hers. His hand moved to the back of her head, fingers brushing the familiar pin. With a soft, reverent motion, he loosened it, and her enchanted faux fur hair spilled down around them in a shimmering cascade.
The spotlight dimmed.
The lake darkened.
And the world fell into silence around them, even if she broke the silence between them. "You were magnificent, love. Thank you for doing this with me."
True, it had not gone off exactly as she had fast-forward-imagined it would as they were only about a quarter into their routine, but almost nothing ever did. Reality was too harsh a gravitational pull to ignore sometimes, but she felt they had done their best and that was all she could... and would... ever ask or expect of either of them.

Always with @AngelFyre McCubbin
Things hadn't gone quite how they planned and part of him was, just slightly, disappointed in himself - but he also was proud of what they had accomplished. Once upon a time ago they were two young souls, skating on the Great Lake as they got to know one another and here they were performing in front of so many spectators.
And they moved together, and trusted one another and connected through that binding mark of theirs to determine that an in-performance recovery was in order.
If only they could perfect that Color-Changing Costume Charm. Multicorfors. Multicorfors..... He had said it correctly, hadn't he? What went wrong? He thought back upon it but wasn't sure and wondered if his dhampir quality didn't jeopardize them. He surely hoped not.
She mentioned mending this and Simon smiled wide at the possibility. AngelFyre deserved to shine in that costume of hers, after all, it had been her brilliant idea. She looked amazing enough as it was but she was a star that deserved to shine - to illuminate the entire lake. Yes, they just needed to modify it a bit.
And the Triple Twist Lift, careful precision could ensure that it could be flawless, right? They had done so time and time again in practice but no matter how it turned out, all would be well with the world and with them.
This was trust under pressure at its finest and Simon was grateful for it. The two had such a strong partnership, such resilience - in this and everything that they had done; in everything they would do. He knew the two of them would go far in love and far in life - and this magical olympic game event was no different.

What a wonderful comeback for the gold-medal favourites, Kincaid and McCubbin! Even though Kincaid tried the same spell again, hoping he'd have learned it in the last few minutes (spoiler alert: he hadn't), McCubbin's casting of the Clothing Colour-Changing Charm certainly won them a few points, as did the pair's beautifully finished triple twist lift, which had audience members absolutely gasping for fear that McCubbin would be dropped as she spun through the air. Luckily, no such drop occurred, and the pair of lovebirds finished their skate with a perfect end to roaring applause. The Actions
Hogwarts would take another pair of golds, with international schools (dNPCs) taking silver and bronze. The medalists would have to wait to officially gather their winnings, however, until the awards ceremony at the weekend.
