Life Before Hogwarts

Little Lemmy was born on April 4th, 2013 to Arlo and Lilian LaRue one bright day on their property outside of Holyhead, Wales. The couple, along with Lemmy's grandparents all own and operate a boarding house there in a small magical village by the coast. A seemingly normal existence, but what sets the LaRue's apart from most witches and wizards is their mixed species family. It all started long ago when a Goblin named Larluff fell head over heels in love with a fine Witch by the name of Beatrice LaRue. For many years Beatrice and her family had owned the property and boarding house in Wales and when the first Wizarding war befell the U.K. they opened their doors to all seeking refuge from hate, violence and discrimination. During that time one of their guests would be none other than Larluff, who took up work at the residence as a metalsmith. Beatrice, being a talented enchanter was naturally drawn to the Goblin's work and soon enough a romance blossomed. Eventually a child, Arlo, was conceived and the two even married, Larluff taking Beatrice's surname as he did not have one of his own. Since then the LaRue's have kept the same open door policy at their boarding house to all beings of the magical community. Whether they be escaping the prejudice of their own families or the intolerance of their communities, if you came to House LaRue with peace in your heart, all would be welcome.

This unique setting led to Lemmy having quite the revolving door of characters that influenced his early childhood before his acceptance to Hogwarts. New friends and new faces brought grand tales and adventure for a boy who was naturally full of wonderment. With multiple generations living under one roof the LaRue's are a tight knit family, yet many would come under their adoptive care. Taking care of each other was top priority, but sharing with their community was held in the same regard. While the boarding house provided a meager income to the family, the majority of their of their living is based off of the sale of handcrafted goods. Lemmy's father, Arlo, inherited his father's skill for metal smithing and there was no better saleswoman than his mother, Lilian. While they may not flaunt it, the LaRue's are quite a successful family that have amassed a small fortune. This has led to a comfortable childhood for Lemmy as he was lucky enough to enjoy the finer things in Wizarding life.

Life was simple, but good for young Lemmy. Days would be spent with his mother as she tended to the property and her many business dealings or spent watching his father work in the forge. Though he was an only child, there were often new friends staying at the house to play with. With large gardens and a vast property to explore the children staying at House LaRue had no lack of exciting adventures to go on. One of these times was when little Lemmy first discovered his magical abilities. One day while exploring with his mother the two would soon have a wonderful opportunity befall upon them. What more could the young boy ask for than to have a fat toad come right across his path. Oh, how Lemmy wanted to befriend this newfound amphibian and soon enough a chase would begin. Every time the boy got close his new companion would hop just outside of his grasp, continuing until they made their way to a nearby pond. In just another hop or two his slimy new friend would be back to the safety of the water, but Lemmy just wanted to hold it for just a moment! As the toad to its final hop towards refuge Lemmy reached out with both arms, but his grasp was just not long enough. However, the resounding splash he expected to hear did not come. There, just above the waterline the toad floated in midair. With a simple beckoning Lemmy's slimy companion would glide right into his hands. From that day on his mother and father knew he would be bound for Hogwarts just as Lilian had before him.

Family

Grandfather - Larluff LaRue

A Goblin originally from a northern English tribe. Unlike many of his fellow Goblins he is quite lighthearted and goofy in nature. A lot of Lemmy’s sense of humor is inherited from his Grandfather. Larluff is a skilled metal smith, but much prefers to spend his days in the family garden.

Grandmother - Beatrice LaRue

A talented witch of French, pure blood heritage. Her expertise is in enchanting, specializing in the charming of Goblin metals. She is quick witted and highly intelligent, but does not take things too seriously. Lemmy and the rest of the family look to her as the matriarch.

Father - Arlo LaRue

Son of Larluff and Beatrice. He was trained by his father is the art of metal smithing, but has far exceeded him in skill. Considered a master smith, Arlo crafts some of the finest Goblin armors and items. Unlike Larluff, he is a bit more serious and is prone to long, quiet moments of reflection. However, he is very affectionate and kind, especially towards his family.

Mother - Lilian LaRue

Lilian is originally from London. She is a skilled potioneer and an accomplished dueler, but her true talent is that of a saleswoman. She is business savvy and has helped the LaRue family build a wide network in the trading of Goblin made wares. While she takes her work very seriously, Lilian always puts her family first.

The Residence

House LaRue has been passed down for multiple generations and serves as a boarding house. The family holds to a long standing tradition of opening their doors to those in need. Especially to those that are half-breeds or other magical races. It is also just a nice place to stay for witches and wizards on holiday as long as they hold no prejudice in their hearts. The house itself is situated on a large, coastal property just outside Holyhead, Wales.

Pet - Craaka

Craaka is Goobledegook for cheese. An appropriate name for Lemmy’s furry friend as the rat will do anything for a nibble. Especially if aged cheddar is on the menu. Craaka shares Lemmy’s desire for adventure and can always be found on his shoulder or tucked away in his robe pockets.

The Wand

A masterpiece from Ollivanders. 32.2 cm in length and made of ash wood. Its core consists of unicorn hair and the wand maker states that it is attracted to the naturally lucky wizard. It is a very flexible wand that is described as whippy when wielded. The handle has an intricate design of spiraled wood, while the shaft straight, yet pliable. Lemmy is very lucky to have been chosen by this instrument of magic.

The Holster

A handcrafted gift from his father Arlo for Lemmy’s eleventh birthday. The perfect holster to house his first wand. Though his father and grandfather before him were denied the right to carry one, Arlo wanted to send Lemmy off to Hogwarts with a reminder of his heritage and a symbol of his birth right. The metal and leatherwork are exquisite and a Tiger’s Eye gemstone is embedded within. This stone is often said to promote self confidence, inner strength, courage and balance.

The Ring

The band is handcrafted by his Grandfather Larluff and the stone chosen by his Grandmother Beatrice. While the metal work is outstanding, the choice of gem is what really makes the piece. Rose quartz, also known as the stone of unconditional love.

The Pendant

A piece procured for Lemmy by his mother Lilian. The lapis lazuli stone pieces are often associated with wisdom and intellect. A reminder to use his head and to think things through when the going gets tough.
