Self, Others, Thoughts

The annual summer Roseline family ball was almost ready. Our family had been setting up all day, and I mean all day. Me, my sister, my mother, and father alll woke up early in the morning to get ready for the ball. Prepping the set-up, making the food, getting ourselves ready, it was all very time consuming. But all of that day's hard work was paying off, everything was looking great.

The dining hall had a long table laying down the middle, with food neatly placed all over. There were savory and healthy foods for dinner such as sandwiches, roasted meats, and salads, along with sweet treats for dessert, like brownies, cookies, plenty types of tarts, and even cake, my personal favorite. Pink, yellow, and orange balloons floated on the ends of the dining table to match the summery vibe of the whole ball. On a smaller table a few feet away from the main one, held an array of different drinks. There were variations of punch, lemonade, butterbeer, and of course water.

Music would start playing the minute the first guest walked through the door, a bunch of summer themed songs all of us had picked out together. We wanted everything to fit the theme as good as we could get it. The decorations were also a huge help with that, balloons floating around, a huge balloons arch right in front of the dining table, summery flowers scattered around the room, along with the tablecloths and dishes being light summer shades. Nothing was too overwhelmingly colorful, but together it really set a nice mood.

It was a long day of work, but the ball was really important to all of us, so it was definitely worth every tiring moment. I stood back to admire out work for a moment, before taking in a deep breath, ready for our very first guest to enter doors any moment, watching the clock strike 5:00pm.

Lemmy was bouncing around with excitement as his parents and he arrived for the Annual Roseline Ball. There were so many new things he had experienced today. One, he had never been anywhere near Nottingham, so that was great! Two, they had traveled by flying carpet! What an adventure that was! Not to mention he was about to meet a new Wizarding family for the first time. Lemmy had no idea how his parents knew the Roselines or why they had been invited to their family ball, but he could care less. Today was going to be a blast!

The little part-goblin looked the part as well. His mother had bought him a brand new robe to wear for the occasion and Lemmy had fallen in love with it right away. Fortunately his grandmother had charmed the fabric to stay nice and cool as the fabric was quite heavy for a summer occasion, but the white and blue color scheme of the robe fit right in with the theme. If in doubt he could always discard it and put it in his father’s pack as he had some nice and cool linen clothes underneath. Lemmy even made sure his pointed hat was on nice and straight before the entered the estate grounds.

His little dark eyes widened with glee as he looked upon the Roseline manor house. If he thought his house was big, it was nothing in comparison to this one. “Luud os sros! (Look at that!)” Lemmy shouted to his parents in Goobledegook before his little legs took off running inside. After being escorted to the dining hall he would stop in his tracks as he took in the sight. What an amazing display of decorations and food. The table was lined with all kinds of offerings and the decor positively screamed summer fun! “Hello! My name is Lemmy LaRue! This is all so wonderful!” The little boy shouted before running up to shake hands with their hosts for the evening.
