Its forbidding presence, spooking animals and parting crowds alike, has only grown more apparent with age. Standing at 5'3 (160 cm), Astrea drifts through the years as a distanced, melancholic spectator of her own life. Her dark, glossy hair is often kept long and loose in waves over her back and inky eyelashes frame eyes of light french grey, pale enough to seem silver in certain lightings. As the daughter of two prominent pureblood descending lines, she was guaranteed a portion of the Four Bloodline Alliance’s fortune by virtue of her highborn status. As such, she grew up with a steady thumb on the pulse of high society. Subject to the detachment of the majority of adult figures in her childhood, Astrea was reared primarily by a collection of nannies, domestic house elves and governesses. Between them, she was schooled in a great manner of academic subjects and traditional upper-class “accomplishments” commonly associated with the picture of a well-bred heir. What Astrea lacked in parental nurture, she made up in sheer conditioned propriety. A reticent child, albeit one of occasionally remarkable sullenness, she was far from a difficult child to raise. Even so, she had her moments, as all children did. Most memorably, Astrea’s first instance of accidental magic – in peculiar retrospective childhood vengeance – had culminated in the prompt removal and replacement of a negligent nanny. According to personal accounts at the time, said nanny had abandoned the young Neptune heir alone one too many times within the echoing halls of Cedarwood Castle. Four years old and unwilling to be ignored any longer, Astrea had set a spontaneously conjured flock of protective crows upon her caretaker. An abridged version of the Four Bloodline family textbooks, summaries written in the margins. Each unit covers one of the lineages, with multiple chapters inside. There are pages torn out in some volumes, pages purposefully left blank or uncopied. Smaller editions are given by tutors for the next generation as they mature, some information left for oral retelling. Good luck trying to decipher all of it.

the neptune family Reducio Originally a branch off from an older noble pureblood family still hidden away in the mountainous region of China that had sprouted up in the late Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the Neptune sect have had centuries of time to become anything but merely an extension to a greater power. As the price of copper to silver inflated in the 1630s, it was apparent by the growing rebel bands of starved peasants straining the failing Ming government that the dynasty would not last much longer. In response to the fast-approaching instability, a portion of the wealthy-growing clan was sent westward following the elaborate marriage ceremony of one of their heirs as both a fallback and an extension of the family line. From Ming dynasty China to modern-era England, it was an abrupt change. Quickly secluding themselves and shifting their rigid, traditional stance to adapt to the new setting, they adopted the surname Neptune and sent their third-in-line to Hogwarts for the first time. Thus begins the legacy of Neptune. The next few pages are blacked out entirely before picking back up. The portrait room, perhaps?

the chou family Reducio An unusually old pureblood family in the modernising country of South Korea, the Chou family is one of few who had maintained their status through Hanguk's tumultuous history. The family traces their origins all the way back to the mid-Joseon dynasty (1392-1897) with the work of a successful scribe whose history has been estimated to have been writ down in between the First and Second Manchu Invasions of Korea (1627, 1637). Today, the clan finds its home base within the forested wilderness of the eastern Taebaek mountains. While the Chou family keeps strong relations to each of the other Four Bloodline lineages to this day, it is noted that the clan is notoriously difficult in regards to foreign relations, frequently turning down abroad marriage proposals and strictly overlooking accepted ones. Perhaps it is due to the high expectations for those who wish to take their own or the fact that the Chou family is the only one of the Four Bloodlines, to maintain their main lineage throughout the centuries instead of splitting off into sects in Europe.

Located in the rural fields of Surrey Hills just miles out to the historic market town of Dorking lies the Cedarwood Castle- once long ago known as GleamGate manor and now formally the lead Neptune-Chou family manor. Together with the Moon and Noir households in France, they make up the main sect of the Four Bloodlines. The entire complex is a prime example of classical gothic as it's turned towers reach towards the sky as if they could hold up the world itself like Atlas. Closed off by a great brick wall and iron gate barrier with centuries of protection spells, through hills of green and past a wide moat is one of the two hearts of the pureblood alignment.

Trim-cut grass the colour of emeralds ran up against white-bricked curving towers discoloured by age and yet clearly sturdy enough to withstand another few centuries at the worst, the greenery culled in the middle and edges to create a packed dirt pathway, pressed into the brick railing that prevented you from the steep drop into the moat. A bridge ran over the watery barrier to the south end, installed with ornate lamps that would not have looked out of place in 19th century London proper, leading from a sprawling brick wall and never opened iron-wrought gate to a fogged and forested tree-lined pathway.

The inside is elaborate and elegant, decorated with hand-carved marble statues and beautifully painted portraits at every angle. Walk inside any of the many rooms and you would clearly see the sign of life in that particular area with a bouquet of fresh azaleas trapped in crystal glass placed somewhere in the room. Sweet candles and clean, fresh air from the opened windows would carry their smell with you if you were near the centre of the topmost floor. In one of the quietest rooms in an already haunted house, stained glass replaces regular to cast light in an array of colours, and the scent of incense and ripe fruits perfume the sight. Some believe that the ancestors find their homes there, drifting through the halls if called, but there is no evidence of such spectres as the ones in Hogwarts.

While beautiful, it is apparent if you were granted inside that most of the castle is barren from activity. Originally, hoards of people lived in the many different rooms and wandered around the grounds, but now it is only lived in and visited by a select few- causing much of the residence to be cold and seemingly haunted with the phantom fear-driving aura of people long dead. The other lesser branches of the family and other close ties have all found their homes in other establishments, though none as elaborate and excessive as their original nest. During grand events and holidays, however, the castle seems to light up to accommodate their dressed-up guests, some of the few times that nearly all the rooms glow orange with activity.

reputation Reducio Well established as a notorious trouble maker, you wouldn't want to cross Johannes and his pack. Always surrounded by his friends- his "Hellhounds" - whether in the snow and stone of Durmstrang or the concrete and glass city of Frankfurt, there's safety in numbers. Their disciplinary records individually resemble copies of ink spills than paper by this point, though their academic records are suspiciously squeaky clean. Seems like their behavior issues don't extend to their written work. 'Bad news', 'misguided', 'wasted potential', it's all the same slander spoken by supposed 'straight-laced' who keep their head down.

approachability Reducio Surprisingly low, but cheers to the brave folk out there who dare. While with his friends, he is more likely to approach someone else than allow them to approach him, putting up a bubble of their own world. When alone, Johann is quite closed off, preferring to linger along with the people he knows best. When the days are good and his mood rings well, it doesn't matter so much and that suave boldness makes its memorial introduction. Whether boisterously casual or sullenly antisocial, he's precisely the scrappy, half-intimidating boy in the back of the class you wouldn't want to pick a fight with.
