HUFFLEPUFF FORFEITS, SLYTHERIN IS VICTORIOUS
Although the smoke was finally fading from the match, the Hufflepuff part of the piste still did not retaliate. Pericles' attempt at encouragement turned to confusion as he repeated hesitantly, "Duellists...?" Conversely, the Slytherin side wasn't waiting for an excuse to keep casting. Astrea struck Maria with Spongify, an unsightly spell which would leave the witch's torso feeling soft and bendy, like an oversized eraser. Her partner Elisabeth was hit with a firm Flipendo from Piper, and- between the blow and residual effects of Rictusempra- succumbed to her wounds and collapsed to the stage. "Ceasefire!" the excitable overseer exclaimed, and he leapt onto the platform to start the process of removing the wounded witch from the duelling club. Maria was a keen duellist. Not only were the odds stacked against her, but her opponents were utterly unscratched. She chose to forfeit, to which the moderator responded with a vaguely crestfallen "Oh... yes of course, alright," before smiling sympathetically, nodding his understanding. Rather than unpause the duel, he moved to the middle of the stage, a telltale indicator of what was about to happen next.

"Hufflepuff has forfeited. Slytherin is the victor! Congratulations, duellists."
