2021, Stage 3 Group A: Hufflepuff vs Slytherin Finished

What an embarrassing round! So far, neither opponent had managed to land their carefully crafted shots in the face of such dexterity on both sides and this exchange of blows was no exception. Astrea herself was completely unharmed through the fifth of an undetermined amount of rounds and while Amadea had previously invoked their own harm to themselves, the Hufflepuff was hardier than she would care to admit.

Though, in her defence, she did not make schoolyard conflicts a regular arrangement. Unlike certain hotheaded lions, she left hallway scuffles for the more trigger-happy of schoolmates and seldom crossed wands without necessity as any responsible magic-user should, since Hogwarts was an educational establishment and not an underground fighting ring- once before she had the unpleasant experience first-hand and she had no intention to do so once more when it could be avoided. By this point, it was a near-even stalemate, both houses dropping their junior teammates in order to face each other head-on as if strategically sending away pawns in a game of chess, except no matter how they moved it was wriggled out of.

Though a light veil of frustration threatened to lap at her mind, timid waves upon an overcast beach, Astrea could not help but acknowledge that her curiosity was piqued. How interesting an opponent she had.

Amadea seemed to be affected by something terrible. She was a skilled duellist, but suddenly she seemed to be taking a pause in casting and absorbing spells instead. Astrea's Tickling Charm hit her directly and threw her into laughing from the evil tickling that wasn't easy to stop.

Maybe it was some tactics to resolve the bottleneck in tactics of a sudden 1-on-1. Let's see if the extensive tickling would help Amadea to come back into the duel with fresh power and clearer thinking.

Her first landed spell on the Hufflepuff captain of the duration of the duel with a silver stream of light, the tickling charm effective immediately in the face of a test of accuracy hard-won. How odd, the fact that the other did not hit back. Though, Astrea was not one to complain if it ensured herself a round unscathed, as much as the single moment of one-sided combat dampened the credibility of her successful cast.

What was the other planning? The duelling championships, important as they were, was not nearly as serious as the age-old game of war, sacrificial pawns disguised as vital pieces of the puzzle even as they were sent as fodder. In this, there was no reason to receive damage without reciprocation when it could be avoided- no need to simply stand there and take it. It was not a matter of cockiness either, nor did it make sense as a clever strategical move.

Ah, well it mattered little if the other had simply been caught off guard, as long as the strike was there. Astrea would simply need to continue doing so.

Conclusion

HUFFLEPUFF FORFEITS, SLYTHERIN IS VICTORIOUS

The duel has frozen for a moment as Meenauh noticed Amadea signalling her forfeit. Meenauh rushed to the stage in a second with her eyes widened.

"Stop the duel!" she screamed sharply, "Hufflepuff has chosen to forfeit the duel," she nodded to Amadea as if to get additional confirmation.

"Congratulations, Slytherin. Everyone fought well," she turned to Astrea and nodded to her, and smiled.

This was a short duel, which she did not expect. First, she thought the Hufflepuffs had an advantage, but it shifted as only the two people stayed conscious. The reasons to forfeit would stay a secret, which she maybe ask to reveal later. This was not a moment for that.

"If anyone needs the help of the healers, proceed off the stage," she pointed towards the place where Lydia and Henry were being helped, "Thank you for attending," she finished and nodded to the crowd, and went off the stage first.
