'[Aodhan is] loud, fun-loving, and admittedly weird. He's a real chatterbox and could likely speak with a wall if he could. He's also muggle-born, so what are considered "everyday" things for regular wizards are downright fascinating in his eyes. If child-like energy and wonder was a person, there's a decent chance it'd be him.'

'With a blinding smile and an overflowing cup of hyperactivity, Aodhan is often described as a confidently chaotic child (the triple C syndrome, he calls it). He's been reprimanded more times than he can count, and yelled at to "shut up" by his peers. He often rambles and loves brainstorming goofy jokes or stunts. Making a volcano despite there being no science fair? Yup. Seeing if he can drink soda while doing a handstand? Yup yup. "Borrowing" from his mother's gum stash to resell them at recess? Yup times three!

(His schoolmates laugh at his antics and call him stupid. Well, obviously he looks stupid to them! His brain is so far ahead that they can't keep up, is what he tells them.)

Despite his eccentricity, he is truly a caring boy. Whenever he happens to slow down, Aodhan tries getting smiles out of classmates and makes his teachers small presents during the winter holidays. And although he is not above lying or stealing, he does his best at being one of the first to offer a helping hand when needed... even if sometimes, he does it with too much enthusiasm.'

'[...] He rarely means what he says and adores putting on a show, especially when smiles fill him with energy and a small sense of joy. However if others find it bothersome, well, that's fine too. At least it will be a show for himself. That being said, his love for theatrics give way to a strong imagination and open mind.

One of his main struggles would be recognizing when people are uncomfortable or when things go too far. Although he does care and doesn't intend for this, Aodhan can be oblivious/shallow to another's point of view when entertaining a fun idea. Contrary to popular belief, he's not impulsive. His brain gravitates towards what he believes to be a reasonable, but maybe unorthodox, path that has a vision realized. Emotions are just... not the biggest priority when he thinks it's all a joke.

This also leads to a struggle in building deep relationships. Not surprising when he knows people don't take him seriously. When he doesn't take himself seriously.'

'Aodhan is not a person that's afraid. He's never afraid to share his thoughts, never afraid to do what he's already set his mind to, never afraid to explore new territory. He's also been called too annoying, too unfunny, too everything, and has essentially been told by many that he needs to change. Despite this, he never really stops. Even with the consequences, he lives unapologetically.'

my mental image of aodhan is constantly shifting, and always seems kinda lacking compared to what i feel he should be (ultimately my own gentle take on the [karmic] trickster persona). i'm going to store my thoughts here for myself to reference, and for others to read if they're curious.

what do they want? - to have fun and explore magic
how to achieve this? - actively learning, questioning everything, interacting with new people, challenging himself and his worldview, learning self-defense

why? - he's seen many characters in media and people online complain about their lives, or sees his mother coming home exhausted from making ends meet. monotony like that is terrifying so he wants to avoid it as much as possible. | the more knowledge he gains, the more stories he has, the more impressive he can seem to others (as his grandfather was). proof that making his own way is the best way, so he really didn't have to change at all. he wants to be a mastermind because it sounds impressive.

what is standing in their way? - externally; other people's patience with him and whatever the rp setting provides | internally; his own impatience to learn things in depth and desperation to avoid boredom. he will rationalize anything to run away from bad emotions, and will be stubborn in regards to other people's ideas if it doesn't "click" with him. being consumed by his mental noise (always leaves him feeling restless/unsatisfied if ignored for too long).

what's at stake? - to gain; patience, compassion, deep and reliable connections, channelling chaos instead of producing it "just because," contentment/fulfillment | to lose; not making any form of progress to when he first left home. not living up to the precedent set by his grandfather who left a great impact on his mental development. seeming like a "loser" and staying lonely.

˗ˏˋ [ The first thing you notice? He's small. Limbs thin, hands tiny, a little nose, freckles like miniature dots across his face. He looks fragile, boyish without a doubt, and his hair is kind of fluffy. And wow, he even swims in his clothes. Maybe he'd carry a gentle voice to bring it all together.

But then he opens his mouth, and you realize there's not a gentle bone in his body. Actually, now you wish he'd go silent again. His voice is just too loud; he's definitely compensating for something. And actually, after a second look, his eyes are a bit large. All sparkly and bold. What is he so lively for? He doesn't even seem all there, either.

Plus, he smells a bit sweet. Sickeningly so for people with sensitive noses. Odd. He has decent posture too. Again, odd. You thought he'd be the type to slouch more.

Still, you conclude he's one of those rambunctious types. The kind to mess around in the back of class and make a fool of himself when called on. You also doubt he stayed inside much while growing up, if his somewhat tanned skin is anything to go by. Professors must love or hate him, with no in between. What a guy. ] ˎˊ˗

˗ˏˋ [ So, you spoke with him for a bit. A big risk to take, of course, but you're going to see him around for a few years. Why not get acquainted early? Now, first thing's first...

"I don't know why everyone thinks aliens would look humanoid or like any animal at all. Well, okay, I also imagine them like that, whatever. But logically speaking, that's because it would be nothing we've ever seen before, right? So, we can't imagine it. Oh, wait, wait, wait, maybe the aliens are already on earth, but we just can't see them. Who knows what they're doing to us? Maybe instead of politicians being lizards, they're actually getting controlled by the invisible aliens—"

He does not. Know. How to shut up. And all he talks about is nonsense. What's the use of defensive magic when this kid can talk anything to death for you? Not to mention, he actually seems aware of how irritating this is—he just can't be arsed. Unbelievable.

But what is also confusing, is how he's been keeping up with classes. He doesn't seem like he can focus, and acts like an agent of chaos, yet he's supposedly maintaining high grades. (The only reason you're aware is that he bragged about it.) He's got the perfect attitude for someone that tries being in everyone's face and hurting their brains with his confusing antics. A certified enemy to peace and quiet.

What's even stranger—because, somehow, that's possible with this kid—is that if you really look, he's by himself quite often. You would think he's surrounded by people or in some kind of diabolical activity at all times... Oh, well. You're not a therapist.

If he wants to be weird, then let him be weird. ] ˎˊ˗
