Having grown up in a wealthy, magical-only, and relatively-secluded area of Kinshasa, it was difficult to determine whether Évodie's methodical Type A personality was one of nature or nurture. Congolese pure-blood society was small and insular, and as such kept close connections with neighboring pure-blood communities by necessity, evidenced by Évodie's own mother being Sudanese.
Évodie comes from a distinguished line of politicians and Uagadou academics on her father's side and one of talented seers on her mother's, a gift she unfortunately wasn't lucky enough to inherit. As Congolese naming traditions aren't conducive to being able to identify a person's lineage through name alone, Évodie was set to memorizing her family tree from almost the moment she was able to speak.
Where others may have floundered under the weight of heavy expectations, Évodie was determined to meet and surpass them. Despite her parent's encouragement towards further pursuing her talents in Transfiguration by specializing in self-transfiguration during her fifth year at Uagadou, Évodie instead opted to stay in the General Studies track before going on to become a Cursebreaker after she graduated. She then spent the next decade and change of her career bouncing around various African and South American countries as she honed her craft.
At 29, Évodie accepted a position teaching Kutumia Uchawi at Uagadou, and has remained a professor there ever since.

First Instance of Magic:
Reducio
For such a serious girl, her first instance of magic at age 6 was a rather silly one, and has been favorite dinner party story of her parents' ever since. Startled by a beetle that had flown into the veranda and onto her face, she was shocked right into hiccups, each one releasing a barrage of little teal bubbles. It took a miserable, soapy half hour before the hiccups finally subsided. An embarrassing entry into the magical world, to be sure, but she likes to think that she's well made up for it.

Part-Goblin
ReducioWhen Yaroyevka was founded, it was not only wizards and witches, who joined the village. Some veelas, goblins, vampires and werewolves were tired of the treatment they received in wizarding society and saw a chance for a new start, far away. And as the years passed, non-humans and humans in the village began to mix, resulting in several half-humans, like Elizaveta, Vika's mother.
Alexei and Elizaveta quickly became friends in school and remained exceptionally close, until years later, one night resulted in Elizaveta becoming pregnant with Viktoria.
Despite the pregnancy being unintended and both Alexei and Elizaveta being uninterested in being more than friends, it worked out. The grandparents on both sides were skeptical at first, but loved little Vika from the moment she entered the world.
Alexei's parents were at first not too happy about the idea that the newest member of their old, spotless pureblood line was part-goblin, but they quickly came around when they met the curious, creative, and cheerful little girl, their granddaughter was. Whenever they could, they would spend time with Vika, telling her about their life in the wizarding school and Koldovstoretz, the school they hoped Vika to be able to attend as well.
And while Vika loved her paternal grandparents, it was her maternal grandparents she preferred to spend time with. Both of them were half-goblins and while Vika never felt she was too different from the other children in the village, she could find the same differences in both of them. Her grandfather taught Alexei a lot about plants, in an attempt to bond with the father of his granddaughter, and he did the same with Vika. When the two of them didn't take care of his two pet alpacas together, they were in his greenhouse and he showed Vika the plants that were edible, used in different potions and also taught her a simple way to make flower crowns.
Her grandmother's strength was lying elsewhere. Where her grandfather had his little greenhouse, her grandmother had a forge, where she crafted whatever the village needed or she felt like. Vika spent hours rummaging through her grandmother's impressive jewelry box, all of which the old woman had made herself or inherited from her parents. She took a lot of care that Vika did not hurt herself in the forge while she was small, but when Vika was 15, she allowed her to actually help and craft things herself.
Vika quickly became pretty good at it very quickly, wearing the jewelry- usually earrings, as those were her favorite- she crafted every day, swelling with pride whenever someone complimented them. It went so far that villagers asked her to make something for them, so Vika had her own little income next to the pocket money she got from parents and grandparents quite soon.
In Koldovstoretz, Vika had little chance to craft anything out of metal, but she could put her green thumb to good use. Her office could as well be a little greenhouse, blooming plants decorating walls, windows and furniture.

Character Backstory:
ReducioViktoria Petrova was born on a clear full moon night on October 26th 1996, in Yaroyevka, a small, secluded village in the Altai mountains, just at the border between Russia, Mongolia, China and Kazakhstan, to Elizaveta Mikhailova, the headmistress of the local "school" (a few adults decided to work together to give the children the necessary basic education) and Alexei Petrov, a healer. A child who showed her first smile before she even opened her eyes.
Yaroyevka, although located in a beautiful area, has not reached popularity in the middle asian wizarding population, but the villagers are quite content being left alone. Five generations back, a handful of magical families decided to retreat from noisy cities and built a small settlement of their own.
Even though some centuries passed, the village has not moved on from the simple way of life they had started with. Wooden houses seam simple paths that were caused by centuries of people walking the same way, rather than intention, food grown by hand, children raised by all.
The villagers had not turned away from magic though. Crops were grown faster, houses protected from the cold winds and made more comfortable, medical issues solved more effectively with a bit of magical help. The fireplaces existent in almost every building were connected to the floo network for easier travel within but also out of the village.
Viktoria was born of a fleeting affair between her parents, but she didn't feel any particular way about it. Her parents' houses weren't far and both made sure to have a spare room for the child, when it was clear that Elizaveta was pregnant. Elizaveta and Alexei were friends, so there were still weekends and dinners spent with both parents.
Families didn't really keep to themselves so much in Yaroyevka anyway. It was entirely normal for Vika to have dinner at the house of any friend she had been playing with that day.
She received basic education at the little school in the village that taught children until they were 11, at which point they were usually sent off to Koldovstoretz. When she was younger, Vika dreaded reaching that age. She enjoyed spending her days in a community where there were no strangers. She liked spending the weekends helping, whether that was in the village greenhouses, with the animals or her father in their little hospital.
When Vika finally went to Koldovstoretz, she didn't hate it though. It was like she entered a different world. She had left Yaroyevka to get her school supplies, which had been quite overwhelming, but other than that, Vika hadn't left the village much.
At Koldovstoretz, she finally got to use magic herself, learn different ways and meet people who grew up very different than she had. It was one of the reasons most of the adults in Yaroyevka insisted on sending their children to Koldovstoretz instead of homeschooling. While the community loved the city, it was never the goal to keep the children by not letting them know anything else.
Vika loved learning. Hearing of different lives in big cities and other countries, outside of the tiny world she had known for all her life before Koldovstoretz. She had always been interested in plants and read whatever books she could find in Yaroyevka, but Koldovstoretz opened up a whole new world.
And Vika didn't return.
At least not for long. As much as she loved Yaroyevka, she only went back for two years after graduating, helped with the greenhouses, the hospital and the library, before leaving to move to Kazan to study Ancient Runes.
And finally, when she finished her studies, Vika returned to Koldovstoretz to become the Professor for Ancient Runes.
First Instance of Magic:
ReducioVika was 6 and it was a particularly boring lesson in October that she just couldn't bring herself to pay attention to. Aimlessly she was flipping through the classbook, instead of doing the task they were given, head resting on her elbow on the table, glancing out of the window occasionally, watching the village's adults in their daily activities.
When the first snowflake fell, her head rose from the table. The ones that followed, had her jump off her chair and race to the window, immediately followed by some of her classmates. The reprimanding of the teacher did little to calm the class of excited children, itching to build snowmen and start snowfights.
It had been cold for days, freezing winds blowing through the streets every day, keeping families inside their houses, huddled around their fireplaces in the evenings.
Vika knew that this would be different once there was snow. Now the children would be outside after school, for as long as the temperatures allowed, playing in the snow.
No, the teacher couldn't tear the children's attention away from the snow. But the open classbooks on everyone's tables did quite nicely. An invisible hand seemed to quickly flip through all of them, carelessly, crinkling and tearing some of them.
It was impossible to tell, which child's excitement caused this outburst of magic. But Vika knew.

Character Backstory:ReducioBorn May 18th, 1986 to Kameko and Nao Mori in Hirosaki, Japan, Aiko knew from a young age all about magic. Her mother Kameko (pure-blood) and her father Nao (half-blood) were overjoyed with their daughter but for very different reasons. Kameko because she had a daughter to mold and turn into the perfect young woman, and Nao because he had a healthy child. Aiko spent most of her younger childhood with her mother, her father at a bit of a loss as to what to do with the young child. But Aiko admittedly struggled. Her mother had a very clear vision of what her daughter should do and what she should be interested from. And from a very young age, Aiko just…wasn’t. She had no interest in playing quietly with dolls, and she absolutely hated the feeling of dresses. She couldn’t describe it as a child but it just felt weird not having something encasing her legs. She struggled to walk gracefully when she finally did learn to walk and she did not excel at any of the skills her mother thought a young girl should. Aiko frequently raised her voice above a moderate tone, and she had a hard time ensuring no one knew what she was thinking. To her mother that was not acceptable.
By age 6, Aiko knew that she did not enjoy spending time with her mother, and would sneak out of the house to run around and hide from her mother. Her father by this time finally felt comfortable with Aiko now that she was more independent and started to take her places and teach her things. They weren’t necessarily things her mother approved of, because what did Nao know about those kinds of things, but Aiko certainly enjoyed them much better than her mother’s lessons. Nao taught her to ride a bike, how to skip rocks and climb trees. Those lessons tended to happen on the weekend, mainly because Nao had a demanding job during the week working for the Japanese Ministry of Magic, and had very little time during the week to do those types of things. Her mother was a stay-at-home mother on the other hand and spent quite a bit of time correcting Aiko on the “proper” way to do things, if Aiko couldn’t make her escape in time.
Then at age 7, the potted miniature cherry blossom tree appeared, and after hearing the stories, Aiko knew that meant her life was about to change. Her parents had made sure she could read and write, as well as do some basic math but both knew Mahoutokoro would do a better job at teaching her the skills to excel in academia than she could. So off she went, first as a day student and then as a boarding student. Aiko was not necessarily the best of students but neither was she the worst. The two areas she tended to excel at were Transfiguration and Study of Magical Creatures. Maybe because they were the two that interested her the most. Transfiguration was interesting because Aiko just loved transforming one thing to another mainly, including changing her hair color frequently as a teenager (and even now as an adult, she loves choosing a new color each month). Study of Magical Creatures was just interesting. It was dealing with creatures that could not speak or point directly to an issue, and required puzzle work to figure out what was wrong or what they need.
Her mother was critical that she wasn’t top of her class in everything, and even more frustrating was that Aiko really did not ever learn to be a very graceful or particularly quiet, calming individual. Aiko never hesitated to speak her opinion and would not defer to anyone else when she felt she was right. Not to mention her skills in the home were abysmal, mostly because she had no interest in learning and there were much more interesting things to be done.
After graduating from Mahoutokoro, Aiko wasn't sure what she wanted to do but knew it was not the arranged marriage that her mother envisioned. So with regret she said goodbye to her father and left to travel the world. She first ended up in Australia, just roaming around until she was talking to a stranger in a restaurant about different transfiguration theories. It was then she was offered a tutor position to make sure the brother of the stranger was going to be in a better position to ace his transfiguration classes. That lasted the summer, and then Aiko was recommended to teach some basics to the magical children who were going to school the next year to make sure they were ready to excel when they attended school. That lasted just until her first “class” was ready to attend their proper schooling and then Aiko felt she had stayed too long in Australia. From there to New Zealand, but this time she was prepared and had made connections ahead of time to continue the tutoring.
And so it continued, a mix of preparing young witches and wizards for their wizarding schooling and helping older students be more prepared or do better in their classes for the year. She visited numerous places, including Canada, the United States, Britain, China, and the list goes on and on.
But four years ago, her mother called. Aiko had stayed in touch quite frequently with her father but her mother’s phone calls were rare and full of disappointment that Aiko was not married and had children by now. Typically she make her mother leave a voice message and then determine if she would call her back based on the voicemail. But this call would be a little different. Her father had been affected by Dragon Pox, and was not doing well. Aiko gave her regrets to her current students and immediately returned to her parent’s home. Her father thankfully recovered but Aiko had been reminded that eventually her family would no longer be there and she determined that she would stay nearby so she could make more frequent visits than what she had been.
So with determination, she marched straight to Mahoutokoro and admittedly with more bravado than anything talked herself into the position of Professor of Transfiguration. She struggled that first year with the more structured schooling, but once she knew what to expect and what was expected of her, she was better able to teach her students. Aiko could also frequently be found in her classroom, helping students who were struggling with the material or just wanted to be better at Transfiguration.
First Instance of Magic:ReducioAt age 5, Aiko's mother had been hounding her to study her calligraphy, but honestly Aiko was just done. Frustrated at how her mother never seemed to find satisfaction in anything she did, Aiko snuck out the back door while her mother was distracted receiving the daily mail, and choosing the invitations she would accept. Letting out a large sigh, Aiko had moved towards the tree in the corner that she preferred, her mother never seeming to look up and her father having given her a few lessons on tree climbing. Almost to the bottom branch, Aiko heard both the opening of the backdoor and her mother's quiet yell. You would think those terms c contradictory and impossible but her mother had mastered the skill. Grimacing, Aiko looked at the distance between her and the lowest branch, realizing she likely would not have time to stand on her tip toes and grab it before her mother caught her. Resigned to getting caught and forced back inside, Aiko closed her eyes. Opening them she was shocked to see the branch at eye level. Looking down, she gasped as her feet were just off the ground. Realizing she must have levitated, her first sign of having magic, she panicked as her mother's call sounded again. Grabbing the branch in desperation, she pulled herself up and moved quickly to conceal herself.

Oakleigh was born on a cold afternoon on December 31st. Every year when the muggles are setting off fire works, Oakleigh and her family are celebrating her birthday. Before her time at Hogwarts, she went to muggle primary school. There she met her friend, Astrid. Her and Astrid didn't keep in touch over the years however. She rode horses when she was young, gaining a temporary obsession over them. She was smart beyond her years, reading a short chapter book in just first grade. She got along great with her younger brother, Axel, up until she was in fifth grade. The two of them started to bicker and argue. As a child, Oakleigh was introduced to both the muggle world and the wizarding world. She doesn't talk to her grandparents due to their views on magic/muggles. Oakleigh is a Half-Blood, born to a pure blood father and a muggle-born mother. Both of her parents were sorted into Ravenclaw. Her mom had more book smarts, as her dad had more street smarts. How they got along and got married is a mystery to Oakleigh. When her letter arrived, she was ecstatic. She ran around the house, jumping up and down shouting "Aye got my Hogwarts letta!" She dragged her mother and father to take her to Diagon Alley to see everything. She wanted to touch everything in site.

Caspian was born into a pure-blood family on the 2nd of March, 2012, in Galway, Ireland. He lives with his family in a small village located in the hills. His mother, Aoife, and her part of the family are from Ireland. While his father, Liam and his part of the family are from England. He has three younger siblings: Liam Junior (who is 10 years old), Niamh (who is 7 years old) and Siobhan ( who is 5 years old). He loves snakes, and owns 2. One is named Idros, who is black and has red stripes. The other is named Lux, who is bright yellow with white polka dots all over him. He had first gotten the snakes when he was five years old, as a gift from his grandfather. His father is an Auror and his mother a Healer, so they are barely home. He spent a lot of time with his grandmother, who used to tell him amazing stories about their ancestors. She used to live in England with his grandfather, but after his death, he moved to village and lived with them. His grandmother is the one he feels most closest to. He was home-schooled by her, and learnt so much from her since she was very knowledgable. His grandmother always stand up for and defends Caspian and his younger sibling when they would do mischief.
When Caspian was 9 years old, he was fed up by the amount of noise and chaos his siblings created. He was feeling really frustrated and one of their family artefacts had burst.

The Allum Family was originally a long line of Pureblood wizards and witches with extraordinary talent and skills that were sought due to there resourcefulness. Many if not all members were bound to make a name for themselves. That is still the case for current members of the family, but Lucian and his family branch have a harder time than the rest. Lucian's grandfather had married a giant, Lucian's grandmother, many years ago. His mother is a half giant and she had unfortunately suffered at the hand of resentment and discrimination from other members of the Allum family. This resentment was a seed that sprouted and spread throughout the family, resulting in the names of Lucian's grandfather and grandmother to be lost and never spoken again. Upon having children of her own, Lucian's mother taught many of them to reject the ideas or practices of Giant culture. Lucian held a resentment towards his family for always looking and praising those with talent and born abilities. While his siblings rejected their giant-blood to become what they believed they were destined for, Lucian embraced his heritage... in secret.
His father was ostracized often by other family members. Despite being a pure-blood wizard himself, he actually loved and studied much on various magical beings. He helped Lucian in learning and knowing more about Giant culture, rather than his actual part-giant mother. Lucian couldn't understand the reasoning behind the resentment or meaning of tainted blood. He could only understand ideas like shame, pain, and anger. Especially when he spoke in the language of Giants to his mother one fateful night. She wept, and Lucian's father unfortunately was given a warning to never speak of Giant culture or to teach the language ever again. Lucian enjoyed the learnings, and thus his father hid various books for him to read and learn more about who he was. Documentations of Giant language, it's culture, and history of the Allum family. Lucian and his siblings only displayed physical traits of being rather tall for their ages, and he wondered if the Allum family had done more to protect their history. He wondered if there were more cases of mixed blood incidents occurring, and that his branch wasn't the only case. Lucian tries his best to not display his giant nature around family to not further cause trouble. This involves various practices to control his anger and do his best to prove problems can be solved without fist. Yet, the occasional thought does occur that things can be done much more easily with his own strength.
Lucian overall is an anomaly. With his wits and cleverness he displays a facade of being knowledgeable, calm, and calculative. Yet he holds thoughts of anger and wanting to break free from traditions. He is part-giant, and he feels it is a gift that was given to him for a reason. What that reason is, is what he searches to find out and prove to the rest of his pure-blooded family no matter the cost. Already he ventures into the forest behind his house, doing feats such as running for long consecutive times, lifting heavy objects, and capable of lifting himself up to higher altitude via climbing. This gift in blood, allows him to do so much and be able to do so much more.

The Allum family was a mixture of luck and power. Luck came into play as many individuals born within the line just had an unnatural talent in almost any field. Some became amazing potioneers, healers, dragon tamers, professors, duelist, scribes, and much more. While no one family member had a talent in all fields, they at least had enough talent to make a name for themselves. Lucian, on the other hand, was a different case. While his siblings showed great prowess and promise, he on the other hand showed par capabilities. His life before Hogwarts was already displaying little promise on whether he'd be capable of making a name for himself and hold true to the Allum name. While he wasn't neglected, he could always felt the judgmental eyes and thoughts of his peers and family during annual competitions. He was at times put in situations or forced to take part in activities he didn't enjoy at all as he knew it would only strengthen the confidence of others and diminish his own. It overall added fire to the flame, the irate fury he would slowly develop towards his family and siblings. As such, Lucian's born talent was simply effort. He'd spend hours in his families garden studying any topic he could. Taking the time to write detailed notes, and when no one was looking to venture deep into a forest located behind a hedge fence.
Within the forest he'd focus on his physical strength over his mental. Taking time to have the speed of an elk, the balance of a monkey, and the strength of a bear. Nature had beauty, and animals seemed much friendlier than people. An introvert in nature, an underdog who represented the full statement: "A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one." He needed versatility, he needed to do what was right and do so without risk or cost to others. To prove his worth.

Traveling through the dense forest located behind his home. Lucian gave chase to a deer he had been keeping watch and studying for the past few weeks. At the age of 9, he already understood his place in his family. Finally tired of the constant diagrams he drew and the notes he took about the creature, he honestly really just wanted to pet the creature. Having left berries he witnessed it feasting on he approached slowly, but the snap of a twig resulted in the timid beast running. While his opportunity had snuck away in an instant, Lucian wasn’t one to give up on a motive or goal. He gave chase. Brushing of branches, kicking of leaves, he put all his strength in each step. He tripped, with a sudden realization causing tears to already form in his eyes. He cursed in his mind, rage filling his throat as a he yelled in frustration after falling. He faced the direction of the deer, certain it had escaped but he was actually in disbelief. A cage. A cage of leaves, mud, stone, and vines had formed. Inside the creature stood, still afraid and shaking in fear with little clue as to how the cage had formed. Lucian was also skeptical of it’s appearance. He believed someone was around and had done it, but looking around there was only himself and the spooked deer. He approached slowly, and broke one of the branches that acted as a bar to keep the animal inside. He stepped away, allowing the deer to free itself. It felt unfair, it felt like the magic he conjured was a cheat to the effort he had committed; the observations, the berries, the approach, and the chase. It didn’t feel accomplishing.

The Kabukimono bloodline, often known for their cold outward appearances yet kind, caring attitudes, were very invested in the importance of pureblood. They attempted to instill this belief in Eonaria, and while she recognized their words and the weakness of Muggles, it didn't exactly stop her from trying to make all sorts of friends at Hogwarts. If you couldn't tell someone's blood status upon first glance, then why bother asking. It might also start her off on the wrong foot. In any case, the more recent Kabukimonos were digging through their family library when they discovered their family records. (Apparently the older generations didn't really care about telling the new generations about the intricacies of their bloodline. That, and being associated with an inherently Dark ability would probably get their home raided by the Ministry of Magic. It was a very tense, high strung emotional era back then where the smallest of things would set off the paranoia in officials. They definitely didn't need Aurors coming to arrest them for being associated with Salazar Slytherin and his special ability to speak with snakes.)
Eonaria’s grandparents and great-other-relatives discovered that their bloodline descended from an offshoot branch of another pureblood family that had partially merged with a branch of the Gaunt family(Under a different name). Oddly, this ability had lain dormant for many decades, and most of them eventually came to the conclusion that the ability to speak Parseltongue had died out over such a long time, as there had been no Parselmouths for generations. But after a bit more searching, Eonaria’s uncle found a journal that belonged to Eonaria’s great grandfather’s sister, detailing her life and her surprise of being able to understand and speak to snakes. Frightened of prejudice that could fall on her, this relative hushed her talent, refused to ever speak of it, and resolutely ignored any hisses she might happen upon in her daily life. After skipping multiple generations and occasionally resurfacing here and there, this ancient ability showed up in Eonaria.
She had never really considered this possibility, as most of her family considered the ability dead to their bloodline and didn’t tell her about it(as they saw no need: after all, why disappoint this knowledge-loving girl with the realization that she could have had something she would consider amazing, but didn’t and never would?), but Eonaria did come across mention of it in her various reading endeavors. Since snakes did not reside commonly in the forest that she always played in, this ability was never made clear to her until she heard a hiss on the castle grounds of Hogwarts. Surprised, she believed it was a person speaking to her, but could not see anyone. When Eonaria inquired who it was, she noticed a snake hissing at her, hiding partially in the grass. After a particularly odd conversation with the snake, accompanied by quite a bit of confusion and fascination, she finally made the connection to that ability she read about a few years ago, realizing she must be a Parselmouth.

Growing up, Eonaria was just like any other child, though she did have a penchant for absorbing new information like a sponge. She loved to stay inside, studying every bit of magic and wonder she could find, though she obviously couldn't do any of it yet. Her family often wondered why she didn't go outside and play a bit more often. But just because Eonaria preferred reading didn't mean she didn't appreciate the joy of playing mini Quidditch, playing outside with her friends, and taking walks amidst nature. She owned a large, fluffy gray cat that she named Aquaenala, and often spent evenings playing and cuddling with the fluffy creature. Eonaria wished she could take Aquaenala with her to Hogwarts, but was unable to due to the slightly-larger-than-normally-acceptable cat who would attract more attention than they already did on the Muggle Underground and at King's Cross. Eonaria held a healthy fascination for animals, magical or otherwise, and often explored in the forest behind the property after finishing her studies. To her disappointment, there weren't any particularly exciting creatures in there, but the adorable Kneazles that frequented the area still occupied her attention. She also spent quite a bit of time just observing bowtruckles and owls with a silly grin on her face. She often thinks about her woodland friends during classes at Hogwarts.

At 6 years old, Eonaria was playing in the backyard with a toy broom and a Quaffle. She threw it up in the wrong direction and it became stuck in a nearby tree's branches. As her parents were in the Ministry for work and the house elf, Kimpy, was busy cooking lunch, Eonaria attempted to climb the tree to get the Quaffle down. After a few moments of struggling, the tree's branches bent themselves over to allow her to retrieve the Quaffle.

Cecily lives in Ingelton, with her mum, Genevieve, dad, Robert, and older sister Mia. Genevieve is a magizoologist from a wizarding family; she’s from Oxfordshire originally but has always adored moorland, and leapt at the chance to get a job on the dales, where she met Robert, a muggle who owns a small family riding stable. They quickly bonded over a share love of animals, and soon fell in love, before getting married and settling down into a quiet, contented life. Robert’s stable is small but pleasant, and Genevieve’s magic means some of the menial chores are alleviated; their two incomes mean that, whilst not excessively wealthy, the family gets by comfortably. Cecily follows in her parents footsteps of absolutely adoring animals, both magical and not; she takes every opportunity to help both her mother and her father. She has a pony, Duchess, a little grey Welshie, and the family also has a Labrador called Ruby and two cats, Teddy and Ash; she’s just as sad to be leaving them as she is her family, especially Duchess. The family is very tight-knit. Cecily adores Mia, a thirteen-year-old Ravenclaw, and Mia dotes on her little sister; the two girls are very close. Mia doesn’t share Cecily’s obsession with animals, other than horses — a love basically impossible not to foster growing up in the Fairfax household — but the two girls bond over that, as well as their shared love of reading. The two girls were home-schooled, on Genevieve’s suggestion, but the riding school means they still get some interaction with muggles and the non-wizarding world, although in a fairly limited capacity, although Cecily tries to avoid muggles where possible, as she’s terrified of accidentally revealing her magic. Cecily’s had an idyllic, peaceful childhood, and she absolutely adores the moorland, and the old house they live in and especially the stables, but she does have anxiety, and has struggled quite a bit with that.

When Cecily was four, she and Mia were fighting over a rag doll. They were pulling quite hard, and one of the arms came off; both toddlers immediately burst into tears. Mia ran off to fetch Viv, and Cecily was sitting alone on the floor cradling the doll when the arm re-attached itself. Cecily was too young to properly understand anything but that the doll was fixed, but Viv was absolutely overjoyed when she came up, found the doll whole and Cecily grinning, and realised her daughter had used magic for the first time.

The metamorph gene, recessive as it is, has always possessed a tendency to lie dormant. Even within formerly-magical families who haven’t produced wizards in generations, under all the correct circumstances— such as those involved in the union of Arthur Cassidy and Aranya Amarin, with magical ancestry dated generations back— a metamorphmagus, as well as a wizard, is born from two non-magical parents.
Clover, their only child, is living proof; initially completely unaware of the wizarding world, the two of them had only started to notice something strange about their child after their third birthday; strange incidents which were difficult to explain away, blink-and-you’ll-miss flashes in their eyes of a color their parents swore wasn’t the usual, streaks in their hair that, albeit excused for the first time or two through crayons or chalk, had always seemed a bit too detailed to be true.
As much as young Clover possessed an appreciation of art on their own, there had always been a level of disbelief that their parents couldn’t quite parse, as if something was wrong with their child— as any parent worth their salt would worry, well-intentioned as they were. Clover was already high-spirited, and their emotions ran as hot as smoking coals; these small blips in their appearance, often the result of anger and frustration, only increased as they began to form a mind of their own, and it wasn’t often until one could associate such strong emotions with ‘oh, Clover’s dyed their hair again’; an easy excuse, for something otherwise implausible.
Their parents had always been level-headed and well-intentioned, but even then, attempts to quell their child’s emotional outbursts were often futile— Clover’s always been easy to read, and learning about the reason for their strange appearance, especially as they aged, still never posed a solution; merely yet another thing to find issue with, another reason for anger and incension. Even beyond their unrecognized abilities, they’d frustrated easily, with a hobby of picking up and discarding hobbies at the drop of a hat, in a desperate bid to get in touch with their aforementioned ‘creative side’; the childhood desire for a concrete identity. Upon a personal recognition that they were something 'other', and the bare basics of what their powers entailed, Clover, someone who’d already struggled with their concept of self, could only feel a simmering resentment towards their abilities, which they recognized as something more othering than it did good.
Their capricious nature had nothing to do with their abilities, and vice versa— but it’s easier to blame an imaginary boogeyman for one’s issues, and despite their parents’ encouragement within their personal life, a lack of concrete connection with the wizarding world did little to foster a good relationship between Clover and their nature. Even in the present-day, Clover’s insistence on dyeing their own hair, painting their own nails, and customizing their appearance through traditional means is yet another way to rebuff their magical abilities, in an attempt to feel as if they have more control over their body and their emotions than they’re truly capable of. To be a Metamorph, as powerful as it may seem to onlookers, is something that Clover regards as feeling trapped within their own emotions; it presents itself as a specter to blame for their emotions, a limitation they must overcome, and a part of themselves they've yet to make amends with.

Character Backstory:
Reducio
Clover Cassidy was born in the heart of London, England, to Arthur Cassidy and Aranya Amarin— of British and Thai descent, respectively— each of them distinctly non-magical, although each possessing very distant magical ancestry, something they wouldn't discover until a few years after Clover's birth.
Each of them working as university professors, and having met during their doctorate research, they're scholars at heart, and have both attempted to raise Clover with the same principles in mind, despite their child's more... creative tendencies. Try as much as they may, research hadn't prepared them for a child of magical talents— and even before they'd known, they'd always figured something was off with Clover; they'd never always been a bit... off, even in their youngest years..
Nothing was consistent with them, nothing forever. Always changing, always moving. It's how things had always been, ever since. They've known, for a long time by their lonesome, that they nurtured something magical inside of them; as far as they knew, this is how they've always been.
The strange changes had always been one thing; a couple sections of hair would change color when they hadn't meant them to, their eyes would look much lighter than they'd looked yesterday while staring into the bathroom mirror, their nails would change color in a way they couldn't scrub off in the kitchen sink; but given a choice, even upon recognition of their magical ability, they'd always rather put in the work to change themselves the regular way, even through intentional means. Cutting their hair by their lonesome, dying strands with tubes of acrylic paints, taking sharpies to the walls (and to their father's face, while he's sleeping!)— Clover's always stuck out like a sore thumb within their family, although their parents, well-meaning and non-magical as they are, have never truly minded, as long as they promised to clean up after their own messes.
Capricious and hot-tempered, they've always erred on the more artistic side, but otherwise ran through different hobbies like they've jumped through hurdles— a year of soccer when they were eight, a six-week pottery class, a failed attempt to pick up the guitar last year; always quick to pick up something new, and just as quick to drop it. Green with envy if they struggled, and yet quick to handwave the effort required to truly improve.
After having attended public school in London for the majority of their studies, their parents had worried to themselves that— even from a Hogwarts representative, and with the reassurance of their magical ability's confirmation— the suggestion of a boarding school, no matter how magical it may be, and no matter how formal the invitation appeared, might be 'just another one of their whims'— but with an uneasy few sighs, and after plenty of insistence, on Clover's end...
...Well, they always had been the permissive sort. If they couldn't prevent change, the only option was to embrace it.

That first sign of magic... it's something Clover's mother still swears she can remember like it was just yesterday— all the way back when they were three— or was it four?— years old, bumbling along the half-paved cobblestone sidewalk in front of their parents' home. It'd stormed the night prior, and their mother, standing out to watch over them with a raised eyebrow, had gently warned them not to trip over the wet stones; even that young, they'd had a penchant for disregarding common sense.
With a trip and a tumble, they caught their shoe in a small crack, falling knee-first into the pavement and being further met with a throbbing pain and a bright red scrape.
"—Mom! Knees!"
With a panicked cry, they called out to their mother, who'd been turned around— just for a few moments, goodness!— to check on the front garden— and, with a click of her tongue, she'd immediately come to their aid.
With softened eyes, raising a finger up to dab away Clover's tears, she shakes her head, before calling back into the house for their father to
"Should've known. You're a little too young to be playing in the rain, after all." With a sigh, she raises a hand to pat at the top of their head, as if attempting to calm them down, before her eye is caught by something else— in the midst of a crying fit and a reddened face, the child's nails had turned a vibrant ruby-red.
"...Arthur?" She calls back into the house, squinting— "You haven't been letting our child into my nail polish, have you?"
By the time Clover had been all patched up, and they'd been properly soothed, the strange color had already faded away, washed away with their tears. It'd never been something their mother had thought to linger on, not when there was a crying child in her midst, but all these years later...
