Ekachot Haru looked calm and composed, but his nerves were acting up. A surge of adrenaline coursed through his very core. He was unknown to all the people beside him, in his team, and he knew nobody except for Vasilius maybe, who he knew because of Elisa. Ekachot was still confused about what the relationship between them was. He did know the two fought but he never got to know why they did.
A mix of thrill and yet nervousness, given the international nature of the tournament, churned inside him. With his palms almost sweating, he gripped his Nimbus 1700 tight.

Basil bit his lip. He had began to regret signing up. There were to many people and Basil was anything but a people person. Griping his broom hard he staggered onto his broom and took a deep breath. I hope we win! He thought.

Basil didn't really pick up the habit of flying until they moved. Moving was hard for him as he lost the friends he had made. Making friends was a little hard as Basil is an extrovert. When they moved Basil had been given a present by his parents, a book on flying! Basil had poured over it learning about the right way to mount a broom and the sports that use brooms. Basil had found a broom in the attic of his new house when checking to see if his parents had put his paint collection up there. His parents forbade him from using their old broom. Basil had been very annoyed about it. A few days after his parents had gone off to learn about his mum's new job with magical plants. Basil had gone into the attic and grabbed the broomstick. He had put his flying book in his satchel and grabbed his first aid kit just in case. Basil snuck into the forest and took the book out. Pushing away thoughts that without going to Hogwarts he would never be able to do anything with flying he set the book down and mounted his broomstick the way it told him too. Basil had then kicked his legs on the ground and flown into the air. Basil had been so shocked that he promptly fell off his broom.

A few days later he snuck out again and tried to bring the old broom. Basil had mounted it and then lightly kicked off. He hovered in the air. Confident he then tilted the broom slightly down... and slammed straight into a tree. He wasn't giving up though. He had tried again and again. After slamming into a rock and getting bucked off he called it a day.
Basil continued to sneak out and got steadily better before one day his sister Rose followed him.
"BASIL!" She had scolded me. Basil had flown straight at a tree from surprise. He managed to turn his broomstick so that he was flying to the ground. He had then leveled his broom and touched down.
"Rose, you distracted me!" He yelled. Rose had stormed off and told his parents. Basil had gotten in much trouble and banished from flying ever again. Basil had, of course, not even been close to listening. When summer rolled around he took the old broom and went out to more of the countryside and hills. He mounted his broom and flew around in a circle a few times. He then flew up and down, avoiding birds, people, and trees. His flying became steady and faster for the broom he had. His parents found out and for his 10th birthday they gave him a broomstick. He was surprised but they had a reason. They wanted him to have a safe broom if he was going to fly. Basil became a fast and steady flier though he kept out of sight of other people and still liked drawing and collecting and books.

The players left the starting line and—with a sigh and a nod from Della—a few let out a flurry of spells. (It will be noted that while racing Della often found it necessary to knock players off their broom, but as a referee and spectator it just looked unnecessary. How hypocritical.)

"Schroeder in a show of beautiful casting tries to hit Smith, but the Russian is able to evade—and with his momentum, Smith aims his broom at Strix. But she is equally evasive. Garrett and Ryzhkov, on the other hand, perform successful casts, leaving Nighthawk blinded and Halldorson blindfolded, respectively.

"And in an odd show of strategy, four players remain on the starting line. Murphy, Smirnow, and Sapozhnik could be plotting something or they're distracted by the snowflakes. Strix better wake up soon in case the threesome turns on her!"

He's got to go try and talk to his parents later that night and let them know that he's needing a new broom as soon as possible. His attempt to blatch with a girl who hasn't moved past the starting point was of a failure. It seemed that perhaps he were too slow. He grunted and moved onto what felt like some nice cool breeze.

As soon as it rings out, he darts forward while simultaneously shifting to aim a spell at one of the older, theoretically more threatening racers nearby. As the spell shoots out from his wand and leaves the older racer blindfolded, Nikolai doesn't attempt to hide his self-satisfied smirk as the newly blinded racer bounces off trees. Granted, he's so focused on that sight that he doesn't quite manage to weave through all of them himself either. Still. Overall worth it.

Gellert was quietly proud of his casting of the spell although the other broom racer did evade the effects. The spell was perfectly cast so it was not his fault that the other escaped the effects that it would have caused. It was quite a pandemonium for other people and he winced as he saw the bundimium’s acidic effects on his team mate, but the race must go on, and so it did.

Carelessly, Myles kicked off and zoomed past the starting line, overtaking numerous racers. With a determined look, he reached out for his wand and pointed it directly at an opposing flyer. Green sparks were shot out of his wand, sparkling and cracking. He continued through the track, being both careful and stupid at the same time.

Ready... Set... Go! Anichka set off and what a feeling! She'd ridden her broom many times but this just felt completely different. It must've been the competitive spirit she was feeling rush through her, coupled with the adrenaline that made her feel so wonderful. She just wanted more.

I really wasn't that much unlike running to her. She went for a bit before being buffeted by the wind slightly but it quickly passed and she rode it well. It was certainly nothing she couldn't handle but it was a nice starting challenge. It was nothing too hectic which she liked, now she was just trying get settled and into a rhythm during this phase of the race so she could be focused and attack later on.

A second later it really did become just like running for her. The next section of the course had some trees and, nimble as she was, she was not able to get through unscathed. It was just a few scrapes but she was still a little sore. It certainly wasn't enough to slow her down as she looked ahead.

After the trees that track calmed down a bit and she was able to start focusing and get her eye in. She knew once she was settled she'd be fine and was going to be ready to really attack the course soon.

The genetics of the Volosin family had always been very strong. They had been resilient to illness, intelligent, and very good looking. Anichka's mother Ionna stands at 5"9' and had the perfect frame. She did not have an ounce of fat on her and she had the most beautiful, electric eyes that drew people to her. Her father is a mount of a man who stands at 6"6'. He is very muscular (a product of him working out every day and chasing his children around the house day in and day out) and has a beard that everyone agrees is absolutely glorious.

In addition to having the fine genetics of her family, Anichka has also been blessed in the looks department both by biology and her lifestyle choices. As a product of her upbringing, Anichka eats very little in terms of sweets and candy. She does enjoy them, but she practices the self-discipline her parents taught her and eats them in (what some might say) extreme moderation. At school, she follows the type of diet her family instilled in her. She eats a lot of vegetables and lean protiens. While she enjoys crisps and mash, she avoids them as she knows she's not supposed to have them. She prefers water to pumpkin juice (although she does love butterbeer, she drinks it rarely).

Anichka's lovely form is also helped by her lifestyle. When she's not in class, she makes use of Durmstrang's expansive grounds. In keeping with her activites at home, she loves to run and hike around the grounds. Even in the cold, sometimes barely lit winters, she still runs and hikes around the grounds. This helps to make her even more fit. As she learned to fly she also started doing that more and more (sometimes even 'borrowing' the school brooms at night). If she could read her textbooks while hiking through a forest or soaring through the air, she would.

To bring the whole effect together, Anichka went to great lengths to ensure that she always looked her best. Every time she gets up, she puts great care into her hair and makeup, making sure each is perfect in the mirror. She also makes sure she picks a suitable and nice outfit, ensuring that it is unblemished and fits perfectly.

All of these factors fit together to make Anichka stunningly beautiful. Her natural beauty draws attention to her whenever she enters a room and her peers find it difficult to take their eyes off of her. She is truly, a lovely creature.

Poison Resistance

Anichka had received her fair share of shapes and bruises through her youthful adventures. It was just a fact of life that someone was outside and running through the woods as much as she did was bound to occassionally take a tumble. Another hazard of playing in the woods, she quickly learned, as different stings, bugbites, and even sometimes snakebites she received throughout her adventures. These always hurt and made her uncomfortable. On one occasion, her reaction was severe enough that she actually started to have visual hallucination in the forms of colors and shapes as she made her way back. Every time she got back home her further would give her whatever she needed to stop the reaction, and also did his best to educate her on different animals and insects and the different venoms some of them produced. On the one hand, he would've kept her inside all the time if he could so he didn't have to worry about her. On the other hand, she knew she was a child and he needed to simply let her be a child. He would supervise her, and sometimes he would take her on hikes with her, but the fact was that he knew she would sneak off on her own sometimes, but she always did as he asked, coming home before dark.

This practical experience and the education her father gave her made her very adept at spotting dangers when she was running or hiking. Her father instilled in her that with plants, animals, and insects, as with most things in life, there would always be dangers and things to avoid, the most important thing was knowledge, and using that knowledge to make yourself as safe as possible. Knowing what she knew from his teachings, she had an excellent understanding of the effects potions, venoms, and poisons could have on a person, and so was very adept at understanding if she was under the influence of any of them.

This knowledge, coupled with her superior metabolism thanks to her genetics, was put to the test at the end of her first year at Durmstrang. While she was on one of her midwinter runs, Anichka tripped over a dimly lit root and felt. When she hit the ground, she felt a brief stinging pain on her arm but thought nothing of it as she was wearing layers to deal with the cold. A few moments later, she realized that whatever she had fallen on had pierced her layers and she was having a reaction to something in her system. Her vision had started to become blurry so she sat down and took a long drink from her water, calming herself. Thanks to her experience, she was able to take a few deep breaths and carefully make her way back to the castle and up to the hospital wing safely.
