| xxxx | Appearance: Hans, a lean young man, considered tall and well-muscled for his age, always has his shoulders squared and head high. His eyes are chocolate brown and set under straight brows. His hair, a brown that can seem deep gold, sometimes varies in length and style, but usually ends at the nape of his neck. A fringe is either been held upwards or been let to casually fall on his forehead. Wardrobe: Through the years, Hans had acquired more of a taste in fashion. From what used to be indifference stemmed a mild interest in colours and fabrics. It is only expected that he presents himself as the best and that extends to how he dresses. Although almost always seen in athletic clothing, he has no qualms with donning a suit or two either. Personality: Quite simply a projection of boyish confidence, Hans is a radiation of sunshine around others. Popular among his peers, he has the natural charisma and sense of humour required to captivate a crowd. He is smooth in interpersonal relationships and connections, often depicting a laidback approach to life, with only a small handful of people or causes granted with immense care outwards. He usually lives in the small pleasures of life and has learnt to appreciate the mundanity that sweeps him out from under his feet. He is adventurous and fearless, traits often extended to recklessness and would never turn down a dare. For those who Hans respects, trusts, and holds dear, he is more comfortable with sharing his less perfected and more authentic side. In his core, he is hardworking and eager to improve himself. Although he has dreams, he was raised to be grounded and focused on the present. Hans is a strong believer in justice, against cheating and always ready to take out an eye for an eye. While still retaining his cheeky and mischievous streak, he has begun to show his genuine thoughts in more circumstances. Always one of duality, times when he expresses seriousness are just as impassioned as carefreeness, if not more. | xxxx | Hans Jenssen-Schäfer is the son of Muggle surgeon Klaus Jenssen, employed by a small private hospital and Witch Greta Schäfer, working a Muggle career as a compliance for Deutsche Bank. Between a strictly Christian father and a mother only slowly coming to terms with her magic, Hans' only source of magic as a child was his grandfather, Otto. His first instances of magic were never recorded and certainly not a joy for celebration. However, as the incidents built up over a year, however benign, Otto could no longer stand by in silence. Soon, Klaus and Greta met him with denial. Having renounced magic after her marriage to Klaus, Greta refused to believe her son was born with what she regarded as only a curse. Then, anger boiled to the surface. Hans' own rage at their unbearable indifference and painful fear was unleashed. For the first time, Hans' powers were directly presented in front of his parents, and for the first time, he had caused actual harm. When reluctant acceptance finally arrived, orders for him to be sent to Durmstrang were made, and Greta was forced to acknowledge that her son, too, bore both the privilege and the responsibility of a magic wielder. His parents saw him as clay to mould - talented athlete, perfect student, and devoted son. While he slid into the first one with ease, the second with complaint, and the third with subtlety, their constant efforts to shape him made their bond wary. Hans shared a much closer relationship with Otto, as not only he fostered his potential, but also his passions. Before Klaus' and Greta's shifts ended, Otto would always make certain to spend quality time with Hans, from frequent walks and inane running around the park, to playing board games and enjoying food. Money was never an issue for the Jenssen family and even though they rarely indulged, there was always wealth waiting when it was necessary or when the luxury felt appropriate. The three members of Hans' immediate family usually travels to nearby European countries during the holidays, especially since Klaus' odd shifts can result in time lost with his son. The family resides in a double decker flat at the peak of an apartment building close to the city centre of Berlin. Throughout both kindergarten and elementary school, Hans was a strikingly popular student. Despite his mischievous antics from time to time, generally high-achieving grades, and clear athletic talent usually covered for him. Among his peers, his outspokenness, laid back personality, and confident demeanour earned Hans a myriad of friends, whether from the neighbourhood, sports teams, or classes. As Hans left them behind and entered Durmstrang, he excelled in his studies, finally not to satisfy his parent's expectations, but because the supernatural truly interested him, especially with each warning from Greta. The more his parents presented their unease towards his studies, the more he wanted to conquer it. |
