Winona is the first child of a reputable, wealthy couple. Her great-grandparents are said to come from Scandinavia. They descend from a line of pureblood witches and wizards, some of whom are rumoured to be linked with dark magic. As a child, she was raised under very strict moderation and was never allowed to interact with muggles, thanks to her family's prejudice against them. Her parents adored her, yet set extremely high standarts for everything she did. She was homeschooled and had private lessons for not only regular school subjects like maths and English but also things meant for classy young ladies like playing the violin, ballet and chess. She has a brother who is one year younger than her, about whom she cares about dearly even though she loves to nag and annoy him from time to time.
Whenever they met a relative or a family friend, her parents would always brag about how well-behaved, smart and talented their young daughter is. This would only make Winona more passionate for studying and practising every single day .
As she grew older, so did her perfectionism and ambition. She would force herself to act like a proper lady, be the best in her class, gather the admiration of all of her teachers (who were just private tutors in reality)... Before being accepted to Hogwarts, her behaviours had started to show themselves physically. Since she was staying inside and studying all the time, her eyesights started to get worse and her skin was even paler than usual from the lack of exposure to sunlight.
Despite growing up without any close friendships, she has a great amount of self-confidence, and won't find it hard to socialize when needed. This is caused by the deep rooted belief she has, most likely a result of her upbringing, that she has a greater potential than most of her peers. Even when she meets someone who is just as smart or talented as she is, it won't make make her feel threatened right away, since it's very rare for a child to be equally hardworking and disciplined. Despite her not showing any lack of social skills, her parents would worry about her feeling lonely and staying in her room most of the time, therefore they'd often plan play-dates for her with the children of some family friends. These encounters would feel fake and forced, and ever since her parents had mentioned Hogwarts, she dreamed about meeting people on her own, without the surveillance of her parents, and finally make some real friends.
One thing that brings her a great amount of comfort and joy is having a plan and routine for everyday. Not keeping up with her plans would feel like an absolute nightmare and it'd be her first priority to get back on track. The only way she allows herself to relax would be by working even harder to finish her daily plans earlier, so that she can have some time to lay on her bed and read a book.

Winona's mother has always been very strict about her not eating anything unhealthy, and would only give her candy on rare, special occasions. One Christmas eve, at the age of 5, she followed her mother to the kitchen and saw where she was hiding a jar of colourful, delicious looking candy. She made up a plan to go and sneakily take some once everyone else fell asleep that night. Yet when she tried to carry out her plan, things didn't go the way she hoped.
No matter how hard she tried to reach up, stand on her toes, the cupboard was too high for her. As if not getting what she wanted wasn't infuriating enough, it felt like the universe was making fun of her short height. She felt defeated and equally furious. It wasn't usual for the well-behaved young Winona to lose her composure, it must've been that the feelings she kept bottled up for so long finally came into the open. While trying to get her little fingers to touch the jar for the last time, she noticed something- Not only the jar full of candies, but everything in the cupboard was levitating, including her mother's precious fine china, silver kitchenware... It took only a couple of seconds for all of them to fall down and break into pieces, some even causing small cuts around the clueless young girl's ankles and feet. The shattering noises woke everyone up and she got a long, boring lecture about why what she attempted was wrong.

Winona is much shorter and skinnier than an average girl her age. Her skin is quite pale with a cool undertone, and her hair is a couple inches below her shoulders, with a dark black colour. Everyday she wears rectangular glasses with a thick frame. Behind the huge glasses, her eyes have a hazel colour, which looks like a brighter green when sun shines at her face. When she's not wearing the regular Slytherin uniform, her style consists of classy yet subtle clothes, shirts inside sweaters or turtlenecks, accompanied with thick, dark trenchcoats and plaid skirts or dress pants.
